New potato extra CD's on FSN

2002-03-05 Thread PASZTOR Gyorgy

Hi,

I created new potato extra CD's and they are available at:
ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/CDROM-Images/debian-unofficial/potato/

These images contains the following:

potato-i386-extra1.iso
sections:
- r2ton: all packages that you need to upgrade your at least 2.2 r2 system
to 2.2 r5. (If sy. give me Packages files, or URL to 2.2 r0 CDs, then I
will create the CDs with that in the future:) )
  (main+contrib+non-US/main+non-US/contrib sections are here)
- security: all packages which are in security.debian.org's potato/updates
section, and newer than in r5 (I created this yesterday, so it doesn't
contain the bugfix of the cvs package, which comed out today:) )
  (main+contrib+non-US/main+non-US/contrib sections are here)
- prop-ud: all packages that are in the potato-proposed-updates, and newer
  than 2.2r5+security
  (main+contrib+non-US/main+non-US/contrib sections are here)
- ximian: ximian gnome packages from
  ftp://red-carpet.ximian.com/pub/ximian-gnome/debian-potato-i386/
  (Mirrored at 2002. Feb. 15)
- fsn/
  - kernel2.4: "RISKO Gergely" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> bacported the packages,
that need to run 2.4.x kernels. Previously I put Adrian Bunk's packages
there, but he retired from the Debian Project:-(
  - netsec: errge make some other backports to use freeswan on potato, etc.
see http://people.debian.org/~risko/
Those packages are here, and I backported 0.9.6c openssl, and 3.0.2p1-6
openssh to potato. This is also here.
  - postgres: errge make Postgresql 7.1.1 backport to potato. See the
previous url.
  - vorbis: errge don't like mp3, and he likes really free stuffz:) So he
do vorbis packages. (note.: The ximian section may contain newer ones)
  - x4: I compile 4.1.0-14 xfree86 on potato. That's here. (I hope that's as
good as cpbotha's ones.)
  - php4: I recompiled the 4.0.3pl1-0potato3 version of php4, but I
previously installed errge's 7.1 postgres, so these packages are linked
to these libraries. And I give 4.0.3pl1-0potato3.1 version number to my
version.
So, if you don't want to use backports then just remove the fsn/...
sections from /etc/apt/sources.list after you added these CD-s with the
  ``apt-cdrom add'' command.

fsn and kernel directories in the root of the CD contains some usefull
files:
  - fsn/netsec: errge's prepatched kernels, and some README stuff
  - kernel: latest 2.2 and 2.4 kernels, pre-patches, Alan Cox's patches,
Solar Designer's ow patches (for 2.2 kernel), and the grsecurity
patches.

potato-i386-extra2.iso
sections:
- security: here are the non-free section from the security updates
- prop-ud: here are the non-free part from the proposed-upadtes
- ximian: here are the pour gimp1.2-non-free package :)
- kde: kde packages, mirrored from kde.debian.net I removed some redundancy
which are between the kde/main and kde/kde2 sections.
NOTE: kde/optional contains 2.3.0 openssh. I think it's so old, that it
  contains secholes!
  (Mirrored at 2002. Feb. 15.)
- non-free, non-US/non-free is what you think: The non-free and the
  non-US/non-free section's of the 2.2 r5

I think that with these two CD, and with the potata install set (at least
2.2 r2) you get, a usable, up-to-date, etc. system, which is more powerful
than other distro's.

Now it is easy to create these CDs again, because I create them with a
self-writen makefile+shellscript+perlscript stuff. I make this available for
the public soon. (I want to clean it)
So I hope that I can create new versions weekly or monthly as I promised to
errge: see http://debian.fsn.hu
Bugreports, wishes, etc. are welcome at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sincerely,
PASZTOR Gyorgy

Official woody netinst images

2002-03-05 Thread Richard Atterer

Hello,

there's still no support in debian-cd for the creation of netinst
images, is there? It would be nice to have something working by the
time we release... :-/

Cheers,

  Richard

Very nice program, I have been using it for about a month to maintain
my Woody iso's, thanks. My only issueis when using command line
completion (tab)to supply the path to the downloaded ~.jigdo file, when
prompted by jigdo-lite, it doesn't work for the ~.jigdo file, just the
dir's.

i.e. #jigdo-lite
To resume a half-finished download, enter name of .jigdo file.
To start a new download, enter URL of .jigdo file:

url=/pub/iso/jigdo/~.jigdo   # on my box.

'p' tab > pub , 'i' tab > pub/iso, 'j' tab > /pub/iso/jigdo ,'w' tab
nothing.
