In particular, check on
how to use your CD burning program to make a CD from the .iso files.

Re: suggestions for jigdo-lite

Hm, are you using my jigdo-lite or Anne Bezemer's version (from
cdimage/~costar)? My version is much simpler and not screen-oriented,
so it doesn't overwrite any old screen content.

What does happen, though, is that a lot of text is output as time goes
by, so if you do not configure your terminal to buffer several
thousand lines of output, old text will eventually disappear.

That's difficult to achieve because the output

  0K .. .. .. .. .. 26% @ 980.39 KB/s

is created by wget, not by jigdo-lite. For the next release, I'll pass
the --dot-style=mega switch to wget, which will reduce the amount of
dots that are output.

Hm, I just noticed I could do
  wget ... 2>&1 | tr '\n' '\r'
but then any wget error messages would never be visible on screen,
which is not desirable.

There actually *is* a (admittedly /very/) crude progress report: At
regular intervals, jigdo-file is invoked by the script and prints
something like:

Found 10 of the 1423 files required by the template

The second number decreases as time goes by - when it reaches 0, the
download is finished.

Thanks for your feedback!

Cheers,

  Richard

woody jigdo files

2002-02-09 Thread Paul E Condon

There are eight .jigdo files at the web page for woody jigdo daily.

Could someone explain what each one is?

For potato, there are three for binary and three for source, but that
seems not to be how things are arranged for woody.

I am interested in getting a set of CDs (maybe only one) that will enable
installation of Woody. Which ones do I really need? Or is the bad news that
I really need all of them?

Thanks

corrupt file on ftp.uk.debian.org

2002-02-09 Thread Ryan Murray

at some point, the gentoo source archive got corrupted on ftp.uk.debian.org
This corruption also propagated to the official CD image source for 2.2r5:

auric,saens,raff:
56de4187e4308babbab21627d2693b16 gentoo_0.11.10.orig.tar.gz

tar -tzf successfully completes on this one.

ftp.uk.debian.org:
0bd102c9e4a2cc4f211987d8f1050cf8 gentoo_0.11.10.orig.tar.gz

tar -tzf fails here.

The corruption was probably caused by corrupted files on auric a few
months ago that have been fixed since. If you could delete the corrupt
file and remirror it, that would be great. I'm not sure what should be
done about the CD Images...
