Hello,

I've just uploaded the new HURD CDs (version F3)!

The md5 checksums can be found above.

Thanks to Philip Charles!

Re: New HURD CDs!

2001-07-31 Thread Philip Charles

There have been big changes in the Hurd archive since the F2 images.
It is important that people run /cdrom/upgrade/initial.sh as soon as the
cdrom is mounted. This upgrades the tarball. There is a typo in
Cook-book.

/cdrom/upgrade/second.sh will install a series of important packages. I
am experimenting with apt. dselect still works.

Unfortunately there were problems which delayed the production of this CD
set. The Hurd sub-mirror was frozen on 3 July.

Please remember that these images are an alpha production of a developing
operating system and that suitable precautions should be taken before
using them.

Comments are welcome.

Have fun.

Phil.

NONUS vs. without NONUS

2001-07-31 Thread Dennis_Schnee

The question "What's the difference between Binary-1 and Binary-1_NONUS?" has
some contradictory information in the answer. I am a US resident. I want to
put Debian Linux on my computer. This machine and it's software is in the US
and will be used in the US only. Which file should I get? Thanks for your
timely response.

Regards,
Dennis

IANAL - and i don't even play one on the internet, but:

from a legal point of view, you would want to get the binary_1 iso image.

i suppose you could download and use the _NONUS version, but then any legal
implications are your own problem..

debian-cd2mirror.sh script

2001-07-31 Thread Thomas Guettler

I wrote a small script to make a debian mirror from a CD set. It is
called debian-cd2mirror.sh. You can get it from
http://www.thomas-guettler.de/download.

Feedback is welcome

Please CC to me, I am not on this list.
