I forgot to run debootstrap manually, so next week I will try to do this, maybe it will be more informative than the installer. > debootstrap uses the Packages file to locate packages, is the Packages > file present? is it also properly refernced in the Release file? > debootstrap uses the Release file to find the Packages file. I can use the CDs with apt-cdrom, so I think everything is OK with these files. > its also possible that dbootstrap is broken, choose_medium.c is a > giant rat hole... but from your log message the debootstrap > invocation looks correct (CDs don't have the /debian directory do > they?) No, there is no /debian. See ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/CDROM-Images/debian-unofficial/woody/woody-i386-1.raw.list for the layout. > most (all?) of us i think have been testing with network and hard > disk/nfs installs rather then CDs... Currently my images seem to be OK, because I built them with the potato bfs, but that's not a good perspective. -- Attila Nagye-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Budapest Polytechnic (BMF.HU) @work: +361 210 1415 (194) H-1084 Budapest, Tavaszmezo u. 15-17. cell.: +3630 306 6758 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hello, > > . Does it? What's the layout exactly? > It should be so, Attila will confirm or infirm. The filelist is in my previous message, although it is a fairly old CD set (I will generate a new one next week, when I will have much more time). > However Attila told me that he removed the woody-secured tree ... > (probably because it confuses apt-cdrom ...) Yes, but I don't think this should affect the installation method in any ways. -- Attila Nagye-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Budapest Polytechnic (BMF.HU) @work: +361 210 1415 (194) H-1084 Budapest, Tavaszmezo u. 15-17. cell.: +3630 306 6758 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". binary-i386-2.iso
Hello, I followed the Pseudo-image Kit v2.0 directions and had no trouble obtaining or the rsync for binary-i386-1.iso and binary-i386-3.iso. However I have had no success with binary-i386-2.iso. I only get 7 warnings from make-pseudo-image and the rsync runs through the entire file (progress indicator = 99%+). Then I get 'unexpected EOF error read timeout' rsync quits and the new file is deleted. I have been through the complete process at least six times. I used two rsync sites rsync.kernel.org::mirrors/debian-cd/ and debian.fifi.org::/debian-cd/ with the same results for both. I am using Win98 SE. Equipment is 400 MHz celeron with 256 MB ram 40GB IDE hard drive with approx. 15GB free in the partition where the build is taking place. I am located near Kalispell, Mt USA. I did have to use http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian for make image as going straight to ftp caused errors from sh.exe. If this problem is not easily diagnosed and solved is it possible to get a login & password to just download the cd image. I have a high speed satellite link and can download off hours if req'd.
