Bug#919189: Fwd: probabel FTBFS on arm64, likely due to Eigen 3 NEON code
Dear all, As one of the developers of ProbABEL I can confirm this is a rounding error. We have had similar problems in the past. The test run by make is simply diff-ing the output of a test run with a 'known good' file. Back when ProbABEL was still actively developed, I tried my best to maintain accuracy across the platforms I knew were being actively used by our users. ARM and PPC where never among those, neither did I have access to machines with that architecture. All in all I think either of Andreas' proposed solutions is fine. Best regards, Lennart. Preparing to unpack .../12-node-js-beautify_1.7.5+dfsg-1_all.deb ... Unpacking node-js-beautify (1.7.5+dfsg-1) ... dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-Vb7dNE/12-node-js-beautify_1.7.5+dfsg-1_all.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/js-beautify', which is also in package jsbeautifier 1.6.4-6 Errors were encountered while processing: /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-Vb7dNE/12-node-js-beautify_1.7.5+dfsg-1_all.deb This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and diversions should only be used when packages provide different implementations for the same functionality. Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages (according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be slightly out of sync): usr/bin/js-beautify This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug. If this is a source package rename, you'll need a ftp.d.o RM request for the old package and Breaks+Replaces in the new one. Therefore the package fails to build: [...] dh_auto_test -a make -j8 check VERBOSE=1 make[1]: Entering directory '/<>' [...] /usr/bin/env: 'python3': No such file or directory make[1]: *** [Makefile:388: libdfp-test-ulps.h] Error 127 make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs make[1]: Leaving directory '/<>' dh_auto_test: make -j8 check VERBOSE=1 returned exit code 2 make: *** [debian/rules:15: build-arch] Error 2 [...] (https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=libdfp&arch=ppc64el&ver=1.0.13-2&stamp=1548954631&raw=0) This is fixable by adding python3 to the Build-Depends, since python3 is not guaranteed to be installed in the build environment by default. See attached patch. Even after fixing this bug however, the package still fails to build in Ubuntu with the following error: [...] LC_ALL=C gawk -f scripts/localplt.awk libdfp.so.jmprel | \ LC_ALL=C gawk -f scripts/check-localplt.awk ./sysdeps/generic/localplt.data - \ > check-localplt.out make[1]: *** [Makefile:445: check-localplt.out] Error 1 make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs [...] (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdfp/1.0.13-2ubuntu1) I haven't investigated any further. Bug#918566: Lost of code copies of MurmurHash3 (Was: Bug#918566: mash FTBFS on big endian: test failures)
Hi Andreas, So I improved the upstream libmurmurhash, adapted the package and filed an ITP (#921353). I even managed to locally build mash against the new package. So hereby I kindly ask you to fix the last lintian issue about NMU which I don't fully understand and then maybe sponsor an upload. Best Fabian
