CVE-2008-3950[0]: | Off-by-one error in the | _web_drawInRect:withFont:ellipsis:alignment:measureOnly function in | WebKit in Safari in Apple iPhone 1.1.4 and 2.0 and iPod touch 1.1.4 | and 2.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (browser | crash) via a JavaScript alert call with an argument that lacks | breakable characters and has a length that is a multiple of the memory | page size, leading to an out-of-bounds read. CVE-2008-3632[1]: | Use-after-free vulnerability in WebKit in Apple iPod touch 1.1 through | 2.0.2, and iPhone 1.0 through 2.0.2, allows remote attackers to | execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application | crash) via a web page with crafted Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) import | statements. If you fix the vulnerabilities please also make sure to include the CVE ids in your changelog entry. Please don't get confused by the very Apple-centric descriptions, it affects webkit. A fix for CVE-2008-3632 can be found here[2]. I am not sure about CVE-2008-3950 and it might not affect the webkit package (I couldn't even find the function mentioned), but I thought I'd mention it as well, in case you have more information. Please also note that webkit has a security mailinglist and it might be possible for you as the debian maintainer to get subscribed, so I'd suggest you ask them and give it a try. :) Some information about webkit procedures can be found here[3]. Bug#499120: Fwd: freeradius has indirectly linked against openssl for years
severity 499120 important thanks This one time, at band camp, Michael Casadevall said: > > During the debugging of a FTBFS in freeradius on Ubuntu, I've > determined that both on Debian and Ubuntu that freeradius has been > indirectly linking to openssl via libsnmp. I see this has gone without an answer for an unfortunate amount of time, and for that I'm sorry. I have never been convinced by the arguments about indirect linking, myself, but I'm not sure that this bug report is the right forum to rehash all the arguments we probably both know very well. For what it's worth, I've spoken with ftp-master in the past and gotten an explicit go ahead for this sort of thing (specifically, to build the postgres module for freeradius, which has a similar problem). I am going to downgrade the bug for now, but not close it, until I speak with ftp-master again. Bug#500323: slune: Slune does not start
severity 500323 important thanks Coin, Quoting "Javier Fernandez-Sanguino Pen~a" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Slune does not work for me at all, it gives out and error which does not look like any of the other reported errors: Seems you card does not handle the default game resolution. I'm Cc-ing Vincent Bernat which is taking over this package, and might be able to patch the game by himself (as i don't think waiting for author's fixes would be the right strategy). I agree Slune is does not handling problems properly, and it really should be solved, but playing a 3D game without glx support (#393274), a working sound system (#494576), or with a broken X configuration (#500324), is quite weirdo. As it is not a very important package, and as it is working for many people, i don't think having it RC would help at all. In fact, thus near to the release, this would end up having it removed from Lenny, and as the bug surely resides in soya, would kick soya and all other soya rdepends out of Lenny too. I'd rather like to avoid this situation, so i'm downgrading the severity. Regards. -- Marc Dequènes (Duck) pgpiQXcBtzBzm.pgp Description: PGP Digital Signature

Bug#500358: mach64 stopped working on the Sun Ultra 5 graphics card after upgrade
Package: xserver-xorg-video-mach64 Version: 6.8.0-1 Severity: grave Hi, With an older kernel, the old version of this driver worked fine. After a kernel upgrade, it stopped working, with a couple of error messages screaming something about memory allocation. Hearing something about how I have to upgrade Xorg driver to match, I did that, got this package from lenny, and tried again, but it didn't work, either :( This time it "just" warns about memory allocation, but still fails to actually load X properly. I'm attaching /var/log/Xorg.0.log from the machine. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask. TIA. -- 2. That which causes joy or happiness. Bug#500360: gossip: Network traffic is incredibly high due to constant vcard requests / 100% cpu usage
Package: gossip Version: 1:0.30-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable There are two problems with this package; I'm not sure if they are related. First is very large network traffic. This is a known bug and already fixed in 1:0.31-1, see also http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545451 Second problem is that occasionally, gossip uses 100% cpu and is unresponsive. On my system, this occurs about 30 minutes after starting the package and lasts for about one minute; after that, gossip is suddenly idle and behaves as normal again. I'm not sure if this is a known bug (or if it is related to the network traffic issue), but it seems to be fixed in 1:0.31-1 from unstable as well. Marked this bug as Grave / Renders package unusable, since the admin of the jabber server ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) told me that if all users of his server would use this package, the server would die due to the amount of traffic. Would be nice if 1:0.31-1 could make it into testing before the next release. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#442643: dsniff: newer BDB
Hi Luciano Can you please look into getting dsniff built with libdb-dev (bdb 4.6)? As we want to release without db4.3 it would be great if dsniff works with db version 4.6 (the default version in lenny). This is intentional. update-grub needs to identify the current root in order to construct grub.cfg / menu.lst. fstab was not reliable, so it's no longer being used. Though, we should probably avoid silencing this particular invocation of grub-probe. -- Robert Millan The DRM opt-in fallacy: "Your data belongs to us. Bug#498621: [php-maint] Bug#498621: permission to remove the "When you use this, send an email to" requirement from the MTRand code
Hello Richard, 2008/9/25 Richard Wagner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Hi Raphael, > > You hereby have my permission to remove the clause referring to me, [EMAIL > PROTECTED] > . Thank you very much. I'll talk to some people in the debian-legal mailing list to try to find out a better wording for your wish to be emailed when people use it, but without being/sounding like an obligation (in case you still want to be emailed :). > > Richard J. Bug#500415: viruskiller: crashes at startup
Running viruskiller with debug symbols show the crash is in the audio code: (gdb) bt #0 0x087e6595 in ?? () #1 0xb7f16c76 in SDL_ReadLE32 () from /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 #2 0xb7ebd0ea in Mix_LoadWAV_RW () from /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0 #3 0x0804a248 in Audio::loadSound (this=0x805e4a0, i=0, filename=0x805b028 "sound/virusLaugh1.wav") at src/CAudio.cpp:76 #4 0x08056009 in loadResources () at src/resources.cpp:91 #5 0x08054d15 in main (argc=1, argv=0xbfdf1e54) at src/main.cpp:80 Starting viruskiller with the `-nosound' option makes the game playable again, so the crash is probably caused by the removal of the non-free audio files. I'll try to create a patch in the next days, too late today already.
