sigh. You are only the second person seeing this, /me never did see this in his
tests. I need more info.

What JVM did you configure in your OOo? What does /usr/bin/java point to? Which
JDKs do you have installed?

Do the other java extensions work? (-report-builder, namely)?

Rene

Bug#451972: no longer supports xinerama across multiple graphics cards

2008-02-18 Thread martin f krafft

I will write a mail to the xorg mailing list after this, so this is
just for posterity. I appreciate any input you may have, regardless.

Gah, I was doing this via SSH and thus got bitten by $DISPLAY. When
run against the actual display, xrandr -q reports:

  Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1200
  VGA-0 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x
0mm
1280x800 60.0*
1280x768 60.0
1024x768 60.0
800x60060.3
640x48059.9
DVI-0 connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
375mm x 301mm
1280x1024 60.0*+ 75.0 59.9

640x48075.0 72.8 66.7 60.0
720x40070.1
S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

With this, I am actually failing to turn on VGA-0, even with
--same-as; the screen just stays blank.

Also, there's a maximum of 1280x1200 on screen 0. I really want
3840x1024 to put my three screens next to each other. Is this at all
possible?

When I try to add VGA-0, I get:

piper:~# xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto --right-of DVI-0
xrandr: screen cannot be larger than 1280x1200 (desired size 2560x1024)

This will be in the logs after I do that. What I find very strange
is that it mentions the Acer AL922 twice. This is the monitor
connected to the DVI-0 output. There's an "MRM B18XA" connected to
VGA-0 instead.

this is correct, nevertheless, the bug is in squashfs-source and not the
actual binary module package, hence reassigning.

You need something like
Virtual 2560 1024
in xorg.conf (Subsection Display). See II.5 of
http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/HowToRandR12

The server isn't capable of resizing the front buffer yet, that's why we
need this line for now so that a large front buffer is allocated at
startup even if not used.

Sure, my mail wasn't meant to tell you to go to hell with your useless
triple head :) Given some discussion with upstream, I was just checking
whether your problem changed a bit recently.

Mirror is the default behavior, it is meant to give you the login window
on all monitors so that you can always login with a default config even
if some monitors do not work correctly. See III.2 of
http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/HowToRandR12 for xorg.conf based
configuration.

Having only one board work is what we need to get fixed...

Not sure about that unfortunately. If the driver doesn't even look at
board 0:12:0, it doesn't look good. Maybe you need to restore 2 devices
sections with the appropriate BusID lines? Not sure whether you need to
restore some corresponding Screen and ServerLayout sections...

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to
cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64.

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

[1] http://people.debian.org/~dannf/check-implicit-pointer-functions
[2] http://wiki.debian.org/ImplicitPointerConversions

Function `ldap_init' implicitly converted to pointer at dirmngr_ldap.c:520

The libldap API has been updated and many functions used by the ldap
plugin are now deprecated. This package should either update to the
new API or define LDAP_DEPRECATED to continue using the deprecated
interfaces.

This patch implements the lazy solution.

Bug#466365: rezound: package build-depends on fftw3, but links against fftw

2008-02-18 Thread Paul Brossier
Package: rezound
Version: 0.12.3beta-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

Hi Günter!

rezound has a Build-Depends against fftw3-dev, but the binary is linked

against fftw2. I guess fftw2 is being pulled by some other package.

with the patch linked here and a Build-Depends against libfftw3-dev, the

binary should be correctly linked.

Package: cl-modlisp
Severity: serious

The cl-modlisp package currently depends on libapache-mod-lisp, which
is scheduled for removal from Debian. This dependency is preventing
cl-modlisp from entering testing, so it's worth fixing.

I've just uploaded libapache2-mod-lisp, which provides the same socket
interface, but with apache2 rather than apache1. cl-modlisp should
work fine with it, but I've only tested the package with MIT/GNU
Scheme, which works fine.

Please test cl-modlisp with the new libapache2-mod-lisp, and if it
works OK, please update cl-modlisp to depend on libapache2-mod-lisp
rather than on libapache-mod-lisp.

Thanks,
Chris

Bug#466382: wyrd: insecure tmpfile creation

2008-02-18 Thread Nico Golde
Package: wyrd
Version: 1.4.3b-3
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Hi,
while searching for a cool calendar software I tried out
wyrd and noticed a wyrd file in /tmp that didn't look very
random. Looking at the source code it turns out that wyrd
dumps its configuration if you press ? (help) in the ui.
It then stores a file named wyrd-tmp. in /tmp.

rcfile.ml:
139 let tmpfile = "/tmp/wyrd-tmp." ^ (string_of_int (Unix.getuid ()))

An attacker only needs to look up the userid in /etc/passwd
and create a symlink from /home/victim/someimportantfile /tmp/wyrd-tmp.uid
and this will overwrite the content with the wyrd
configuration.

Unfortunately I have no idea about ML programming so I don't
have a solution for this.

A CVE id for this is pending.
Kind regards
Nico

Bug#466186: FTBFS on amd64: missing library libldap_r-2.4.so.2 (for wldap32.dll.so)

2008-02-18 Thread Ove Kaaven

Julien Muchembled skrev:

I retried without -j2 but I have the same error.

OK, I think I see where that goes wrong. Wine doesn't try to build the
fonts if it can't find FreeType, and the log says it didn't find it.

(I don't know why it couldn't link to freetype, though, would probably
have to see config.log or something... it's probably just another
ia32-libs flaw, but perhaps that log would show exactly what that flaw
is...)

The package could probably be made buildable anyway if we added a mkdir
to the install-arch rule in debian/rules... but at this point I'm not
sure the dysfunctional package that would result would really be worth
it, if it won't even be able to display TrueType fonts, or as the
configure output in your log says: "Dialog text may be invisible or
unaligned."

Hmm. Perhaps I could just downgrade the libldap-dev on my build system,
but that would be wrong too... so I'd say that whether Wine gets built
with or without amd64.tar.lzma.uu, the ia32-libs really needs fixing.

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely
to cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and
amd64.

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

Function `ldap_get_values' implicitly converted to pointer at lak.c:1233

 [1] http://people.debian.org/~dannf/check-implicit-pointer-functions
 [2] http://wiki.debian.org/ImplicitPointerConversions

The libldap API has been updated and many functions used by the ldap
plugin are now deprecated. This package should either update to the
new API or define LDAP_DEPRECATED to continue using the deprecated
interfaces.

This patch implements the lazy solution.

If I interrupt apt by pressing Ctrl+C and re-run "apt-get install
sasl2-bin", then I get:

Starting SASL Authentication Daemon: saslauthd (already running).

and the package is configured properly.

I remember having this problems with previous versions of sasl2-bin as
well but I've been too lazy to report it so far.

I thought you were the maintainer and upstream author. Who else would
be working on this? Was this comment supposed to go to another package?

packagesearch has been crashing at the drop of a hat for me for months
(basically, whenever I leave it up for awhile and then come back to it).
Recently aptitude has become very insistent about giving it the boot,
probably because of an upgrade to the apt tools.

Hi,

Your package currently depends on libnetcdf3 which has been replaced
by libnetcdf4 and is now uninstallable in unstable.

There has been an attempt to binNMU your package but it failed
probably because the changelog is readonly and is in the upstream
tar ball.

Bug#464331: TeleGNOME maintenance?

2008-02-18 Thread Colin Watson
Hi,

I maintain the Debian package of TeleGNOME; I took it over from Joop
Stakenborg quite a few years ago. I haven't done a whole lot with it in
a while, but recently life became a little more interesting as the
Debian GNOME team are trying to get rid of some of our old GNOME 1
packages, which of course take out TeleGNOME along with them. I don't
like seeing software die when it doesn't need to, so I decided I'd see
how hard it would be to port TeleGNOME to GNOME 2. It turns out it isn't
really all that difficult; I have a few bugs to shake out but I now have
something that basically works. (I'm currently using libsoup for HTTP
access, but I think I might be better off using GIO/GVFS.)

I looked through the telegnome module history on svn-archive.gnome.org
and found that there've been no commits since August 2002, and nothing
but translation commits since May 2000. Is it fair to say that you
aren't interested in maintaining TeleGNOME any more? If so, I'd like to
become its new maintainer, get the project moved back from the archive
to svn.gnome.org, and start committing the work I've done. If not,
perhaps I can get my patches into a more reasonable state, send them
your way, and we can work on a new upstream release. With the extent of
the changes I have I don't think I can sanely do them in the Debian
package.

I would probably need your help in reclaiming the SourceForge project,
which is currently marked as "no longer under active development".

Thanks,

Bug#465971: nvidia-cg-toolkit: does not install after last sid update

2008-02-18 Thread Andres Mejia
I'm unable to reproduce this bug. I've tested this on an i386 machine, yet I
ensured I could get the x86_64 package manually by using the same link from
the update-nvidia-cg-toolkit script.

Hi there,

The "exchange connector" for evolution in Debian "lenny" (testing) has major
issues.

When I start evolution for the first time, some "Evolution Setup Assistant"
allows me to create an account.
In the first screen, I click "Forward"
In the second screen, I type in my full name and my e-mail address, and I
click "Forward"
In the third screen, in "Server Type", I choose "Microsoft Exchange". A
dialog box with "Username" appears. In "Username", I can type anything I
want: the "Forward" button is always greyed ! I can click the two other
buttons (Cancel and Back), but I can never click the "Forward" button ! It's
always greyed !

I assume the problem was due to the buggy evoluton-data-server, then,
and close the bug. Please reopen if you think differently.

The account creation problem seems to be unrelated. It reminds me of
some bug reports I've seen before..

Hi there,

On my Debian lenny test machine, I've noticed new versions of
evolution-data-server have been installed, here is what I got:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] 19:35 /home/pbn>dpkg -l | grep evolution
ii evolution2.12.3-1

ii evolution-common 2.12.3-1

plugin for the Evolution groupware suite
ii evolution-plugins2.12.3-1 standard
plugins for Evolution
ii evolution-webcal 2.12.0-1 webcal:
URL handler for GNOME and Evolution

... and, yes the bug is fixed !
Now I can see two fields, one for my username, the second for the URL for
OWA.
And if I enter a name and a valid URL, I can click on the check button.

Ah, I can't test right now if the interaction with the OWA server works
properly, because I am at home and don't have an Exchange/OWA server here. I
might try that sometimes next week. However I'm pretty confident interaction
with Exchange works... I'm using Evolution from lenny at work and there has
never been a problem in the interaction with the Exchange server. The only
problem was the creation of the account...

Thank you,

Not a problem - it seems to build cleanly now with no problems. I guess it
can be pushed to unstable and backported to stable security.

Bug#428876: hppa also affected

2008-02-18 Thread Joachim Reichel

This bug also affects hppa, see
http://experimental.debian.net/fetch.php?&pkg=core%2B%2B&ver=1.7-9&arch=hppa&stamp=1203264200&file=log&as=raw

In total, at least four architectures are affected (hppa, ia64, s390 , sparc).

Since there hasn't been any visible action in almost three months, I take the
liberty to add the help tag.

Bug#466449: diatheke: Diatheke allows arbitrary command execution using the range parameter

2008-02-18 Thread Dan Dennison
Package: diatheke
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

The Diatheke CGI allows arbitrary command execution in the context of
the webserver, e.g. www-data by simply abusing the range parameter.

For example, &range=`yes` will consume tons of resources on the affected
webserver. Escalation of privleges and command shells are left as an
exercise to the reader.

Done, although I settled for debian-devel (and debian-perl as a spam
filter ate the X-Debbugs-Cc of this bug) at this point.

Lucas, could you please help with the test rebuilds?

A full archive rebuild with perl 5.10 from experimental
is going to need some bootstrapping, as outlined in
http://wiki.debian.org/Perl5.10Transition . In particular, the
libxml-parser-perl dependency loop is going to require manual attention.

I think it would make sense to get the uninstallable arch:any packages
rebuilt first with the ExtUtils::Install change reverted to get around
the 'empty rmdir' issue when bootstrapping.

It would of course be also interesting to compare the list packages that
FTBFS with and without the ExtUtils::Install change.

Cheers,

Bug#466459: xserver-xorg-video-intel: intel driver loose/crash video at random

2008-02-18 Thread Fabrice Lorrain
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.2.0.90-3
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

Hello,

This driver has been unusable on my mac-mini (core 2 duo) since
novembre (and on several intel chipset, from other bts entries).
It has been crashing X at random resulting in lost of data
of the current session and breaking any distants ones.
(most notably my ongoing blobwars game ;-)

If you feel like downgrading the severity, no lower than "serious",
please. This driver is not suitable for lenny.

As reported by others, since the 2.2.x branch of intel driver, X is
going randomly in some suspend mode, and the only way out of it is a plain
reboot. Sucks.

Thanks a lot for your final patches. Turba 2.1.7 is already in
Debian unstable distribution. But for Debian stable and
oldstable, I can't upload version 2.1.7: I need backport
security changes. Could you review my backported patches?

- Patch for Turba 2.1.4 (Debian stable):
http://gcolpart.evolix.net/debian/turba2/turba2_2.1.3-1_2.1.3-1etch1.diff

- Patch for Turba 2.0.2 (Debian oldstable):
http://gcolpart.evolix.net/debian/turba2/turba2_2.0.2-1_2.0.2-1sarge1.diff

Note: FYI, Debian security team requested CVE id for this security issue.

Heya,

Building of the package mapnik failed on my experimental buildd, due to
a missing depends in libboost-dev:

| In file included from
/usr/include/boost/ptr_container/ptr_sequence_adapter.hpp:20,

error: boost/serialization/split_member.hpp: No such file or directory
[yada yada yada syntax error, eeek, eeek, bah]

The missing file is in libboost-serialization-dev, on which you should
depend if some parts of liboost-dev lead to build failures without it.

Bug#463922: iceweasel-beagle: alerts "beagle storage directory not found" at launch

2008-02-18 Thread Mirco Bauer
severity 463922 important
thanks

This bug is annoying but not release critical, as the issue is gone
after the GNOME/KDE session is restarted or when beagle was started
manually.

Bug#464058: [horde-vendor] Bug#464058: turba access checking issue

2008-02-18 Thread Chuck Hagenbuch

Quoting Gregory Colpart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Thanks a lot for your final patches. Turba 2.1.7 is already in
Debian unstable distribution. But for Debian stable and
oldstable, I can't upload version 2.1.7: I need backport
security changes. Could you review my backported patches?

- Patch for Turba 2.1.4 (Debian stable):
http://gcolpart.evolix.net/debian/turba2/turba2_2.1.3-1_2.1.3-1etch1.diff

- Patch for Turba 2.0.2 (Debian oldstable):
http://gcolpart.evolix.net/debian/turba2/turba2_2.0.2-1_2.0.2-1sarge1.diff

I don't feel qualified without a _lot_ more time to review the 2.0.x
patch; that is very, very different from the current code.

The 2.1.4 patch seems to have a bunch of extra stuff in it - I would
just do the changes to Group.php, sql.php, and browse.php. If you're
also including different fixes those would have to be reviewed
separately - those changes are a bit harder to follow.

Note: FYI, Debian security team requested CVE id for this security issue.

We got the report from you, so unless you created one I don't think
there is one. Or do you mean that they started the process of creating
one from CVE?

http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Bug#464058: [horde-vendor] Bug#464058: turba access checking issue

I apologize because this patch includes *two* security patches:
- [jan] SECURITY: Fix privilege escalation in Horde API => from 2.1.6
- [cjh] SECURITY: Fix unchecked access to contacts in the same
SQL table (Bug #6208). => from 2.1.7 (patch spoken in this thread)

For 2.0.2, I include one more security patch:
- [cjh] Close several XSS vulnerabilities with address book and
  contact data. => from 2.0.5

For easy reviewing, I include comments in my patches like:
--8<--
// backport security patch from Turba 2.*.*
--8<--

Yes, they started the process of creating one. We're waiting it.

Package: diatheke
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

The Diatheke CGI allows arbitrary command execution in the context of
the webserver, e.g. www-data by simply abusing the range parameter.

For example, &range=`yes` will consume tons of resources on the affected
webserver. Escalation of privleges and command shells are left as an
exercise to the reader.

I apologize because this patch includes *two* security patches:
- [jan] SECURITY: Fix privilege escalation in Horde API => from 2.1.6

The only place in the source code that any jade command is called is
in doc/docbook/Makefile.jade, which is not used by defualt (Makefile.in
is), so I don't see how this could possibly fail. Are you using that
Makefile.jade instead?

I cannot reproduce this, and will probably close this report in few
days.

guillem

Package: bjam
Version: 3.1.14-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I updated my Sid system last night. Since the update, which took bjam
from 3.1.14-1 to 3.1.14-2, bjam segfaults on startup. This happens even
if bjam cannot locate any control file, in which case it normally just
produces an informational message and exits. 'bjam -h' does, however,
produce the usage message successfully.

Downgrading to 3.1.14-1 fixes the problem.

Hmm, looks like that one could be a missing build dependency, which
means there's at least *one* thing I might be able to do something
about... So, try installing lib32z1-dev, what happens then?

(In principle Wine should not have to build-depend on that, the freetype
build-dependency should pull it in, but with ia32-libs being what it is,
there's no way to achieve that easily...)

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a package that
should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer, because:

* RC bug older than 60 days.
* I am unable to find an upstream source. I have searched CPAN and with google.
* Package is severely out of date.
* Popcon of 82.

Bug#466490: tcpstat: should this package be orphaned or removed?

2008-02-18 Thread Barry deFreese

Package: tcpstat
Version: 1.4-4.2
Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: proposed-orphan

Dear Maintainer,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a package that
should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer, because:

* Maintainer seems inactive. Last upload by maintainer was 2001. (Two
NMUs since, last one in 2006).

* New upstream has existed since 2003.
* I am unable to find an upstream source.
* Package is severely out of date.

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues.
Also, you can study the possibility of taking co-maintainers.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, send the following commands
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (replace nn with this bug's number):

severity nn normal
reassign nn wnpp
retitle nn O: --
thanks

If you think it should be removed, send the following commands instead:

severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;
thanks

For more information, see

Thank you,

Bug#466495: ikiwiki: Ikiwiki fails to compile the wiki

2008-02-18 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: ikiwiki
Version: 2.32.3
Severity: grave

Hi,

--8<---cut here---start->8---
__> ikiwiki --setup manoj.devel.ikiwiki.setup
successfully generated /home/srivasta/cgi-bin/ikiwiki.cgi
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/share/perl5/IkiWiki/Rcs/tla.pm line 119.
manoj.devel.ikiwiki.setup: Undefined subroutine &IkiWiki::escapeHTML called at
/usr/share/perl5/IkiWiki/Rcs/tla.pm line 135.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at (eval 5) line 125.
--8<---cut here---end--->8---

This renders ikiwiki mostly useless; the fix is simple:
 Add
  eval q{use CGI 'escapeHTML'};
  error($@) if $@;
 to /usr/share/perl5/IkiWiki/Rcs/tla.pm

Bug#443158: marked as done (Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D)

to be marked as done.

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with.
If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the

Severity: serious
Package: cl-irc
Version: 20070905-dfsg-1
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the IETF under
non-free license terms:

+pkg cl-irc ver 20070905-dfsg-1
+ cl-irc-20070905-dfsg.orig/doc/rfc2810.txt
+ cl-irc-20070905-dfsg.orig/doc/rfc2811.txt
+ cl-irc-20070905-dfsg.orig/doc/rfc2812.txt
+ cl-irc-20070905-dfsg.orig/doc/rfc2813.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package
   version name.

3. Move the package to non-free.

General discussions are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal
or debian-devel in the thread with Subject: "Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in
source packages".

Thanks,
Simon

No. Only libxml2, as described by #456914.

Hmmm... I didn't notice that's the same kind of error.
However, I wonder why the second one doesn't happen if I build from
amd64.tar.lzma.uu

I guess I should add :

to ia32-libs.shlibs.

rebuilding...

Do you have multiple outpus connected enabled when the crash happens? It
seems to be related in some cases.

Does
Option "FramebufferCompression" "false"
help?

Can you try with some other kernels? I sometimes felt like 2.6.18 didn't
cause any crash while >=2.6.22 does. Not sure about 2.6.24 or later.
