It looks like you should either move doxygen to Build-Depends or ensure

newer than configure.in, of course, but configure.in must be newer
than .version in order to ensure the automated versioning (from
src.defines.h) is correctly used. The problem is that the
upstream tarball ships configure.in but not .version.
configure.in is updated locally when autoreconf is performed, but
the refreshed configure.in is the same in content as the one in
the original tarball, only the timestamp differs. It is therefore
ignored by dpkg-source when generating zangband_2.7.5pre1-3.diff.gz,
since diff pays no attention to timestamps. So, when unpacking the
original tarball and Debian diff ready for building, configure.in
is extracted from the original tarball with the original timestamp
while .version is extracted from the diff with a date matching the
unpacking time. Hence .version is newer than configure.in,
causing configure.in to be regenerated at build time, requiring
 aclocal, autoheader and autoconf.
This is the long explanation why automake and autoconf have been
added as Build-Dependencies. It's just simpler

I can not reproduce your problem, probably because I don't have wireless
with wpa.

Can you install the libssl0.9.8-dbg package, make dt_supplicant dump
core and show me the backtrace?

Bug#449255: Synergy server crashes due to internal malloc memory corruption

2007-11-04 Thread Jan Vidar Krey
Package: synergy
Version: 1.3.1-2
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I am connecting my imac (ubuntu/powerPC) synergy client to my amd64
(sid/amd64) box using synergy server.

It seems like synergys is corrupting some malloc data, which causes it to
abort. I get this abort everytime I leave my primary screen with my mouse
which renders everything pretty much useless.
Here are the relevant excerpts from the debug log on the server (-f -d
DEBUG):

NOTE: CServer.cpp,277: client "imac has connected
INFO: CServer.cpp,446: switch from "amd64" to "imac" at 0,501
INFO: CScreen.cpp,116: leaving screen
*** glibc detected *** synergys: free(): invalid next size (fast):

I downloaded the source package, and rebuilt it with debug symbols enabled,
and got this backtrace:

Running synergys in valgrind causes it not to crash since malloc is bypassed
with valgrinds own malloc and friends, but I get a fairly verbose output
when leaving the screen with my mouse:

Hi,

JFTR: I can reproduce it too. Downgrading to the openssl version in
Lenny fixed the problem. I will try to send some more information later.

Bug#448863: xserver-xorg: Package can not be installed (so is mostly unuseable)

2007-11-04 Thread Manoj Srivastava
severity 448863 grave
retitle 448863 xserver-xorg: Package can not be installed (so is mostly
unuseable)
thanks

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+3
Severity: grave

The package is uninstallable due to a broken debconf template
(shared/default-x-server was dropped). This makes the package mostly
useless (can't install it, can't use it).

hm, strange, it should... what does gdb say? Does something like
this work?

] [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gdb rxvt
] GNU gdb 6.6.90.20070912-debian
] [...]
] (gdb) run
] Starting program: /usr/bin/rxvt

I hope I can guess from the coredump where the bug is coming from...
if I can't, I'll have to ask you to reproduce it once again with a
-g2 build of rxvt.

Thanks!

 - If you're using hook scripts (by setting $rc_a, $rc_b, ... or $rc_i

I know, but even such accidents happen. Pretty annoying, I know.

I'll build it in a few hours.
If that doesn't fix it - I can organize you access to a sparc machine.

bah klibc is frozen anyway, so without hint goes nowhere.
anyway leaving ia64 b0rked in testing for quite some time is not nice,
so thanks to your info could you try to build on sparc (yes stupid arch

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+3
Severity: important

Hi,

I just tried to reinstall a system from scratch, but I cannot install Xorg
server,
since the postinst script failed with an error code 10.

I added "set -x" at the top of /var/lib/dpkg/info/xserver-xorg.postinst to see
what's
happening, and it seems there's a problem with debconf.
However, I lack knowledge on how to fix this. So, currently, Xorg is unusable
for me :(

You can find the output of the postinst script attached to this report.

Thanks,

 - Jonathan

Bug#424776: achims-guestbook: affected by php4-removal

2007-11-04 Thread James Westby
[Please keep the bug and me Cced with your responses, thanks]

I don't understand why http://wiki.debian.org/PHP4Removal says
that a dependency on php4 should change to php5 | php4 when the latter
is no longer in the archives?

I followed up to a bug saying that the dependency could just be changed
to php5, and was shown that page.

Thanks,

James

PHP license version 3 was already ok.
A debian package php-xml-htmlsafe3 has just entered debian, and should allow
packagers to resolve this issue.

Thanks for your patience so far..

So you make the life of backporters a little easier.
It won't harm at all if you use php5 | php4.

I know, this is an unsupported backport. Anyways ..

The file /etc/aiccu.conf containing login and password is

This is unreproducible for me (when following the debconf screens as
directed), and the version is not supported anyway, thus closing
this bug. All version information was already cleared.

The appended patch adds basic support for Linux/MIPS, and also fixes
the version detection of libgsl (Version 1.10 wasn't detected correctly).
With this patch, root-system starts to build until it fails:

Bug#431664: apt-howto: FTBFS: cannot find apt-howto.de.sgml [a fix]

2007-11-04 Thread rollingbits (aka Lucas)

Hi.

I'm attaching a fix for this bug. The po4a-updatepo doesn't have a -k
option so this doesn't helps to solve the problem. The original error
message says that the apt-howto.de.sgml wasn't created because 39.8%
of it was translated and that this isn't enough. My patch changes the
lower limit to 39% and updates the build dependencies. The
apt-howto.ko.pdf wasn't created because the texlive (the TeX system is
now provided by texlive) doesn't have all needed files. So it closes
the bug#435010. I don't used the proposed patch for it because I think
it will make the package depends on a excessive number of packages
indirectly (the TeX system is huge) and some more transitions happened
since then (gs* to ghostscript for example).

My patch also declares three Build-Conflict-Indep that the patch for
#435010 doesn't do. I verified here that the package doesn't build
when they are installed but I don't verified what happens when only
their dependencies and recommends are installed. The missing ones
aren't directly used anyway: the conflicts are made with transitional
packages. The bug#435010 doesn't quote any other field or file, so I
understand that the bug was requesting an update on the
build-dependencies to ACK transitions. So I did. I also removed some
build dependencies. The build system don't cried and the
dpkg-genbuilddeps don't detected that they are used. I'm not merging
both bugs because the requests are different. My patch makes the
package built on newer systems (with texlive) and don't build on older
ones (with tetex) but I think this is the expected behaviour. I also
want to inform that the ./debian/rules clean target is buggy and
doesn't clear the tree properly. There is a dependency on
(/bin/sh->)bash, too. This patch doesn't solve any of them.

I'm not sure why we would do this rather than just package 2.3.39.
Wouldn't the latter be a better idea for unstable? (For the stable
security release, of course, we should just cherry-pick the one fix,
assuming it applies to the stable version, which I haven't checked.)

Also, 2.4 is now officially released, so we should really switch to that
ASAP so that we can get rid of 2.2. I'll send more mail about that later
this week, though, since that's going to be a complex transition.
Upgrading to the upstream 2.3.39 release should be simple.

Bug#426637: Patch to build with FLAC 1.2 and recent GNUstep

2007-11-04 Thread Yavor Doganov
Hi Gürkan,

Here is my pathetic attempt to fix this bug. With this patch,
cynthiune.app builds fine with disable-windowsmedia=yes, but
unfortunately I can't test it properly (no sound card here). There
was a minor issue with the bundles' installation (similar to the one
in talksoup.app), so this fixes it as well.

Please let me know if it works for you. I'm not including the debian
changes as they're fairly trivial (just ask me if you need them).

(AFAIK cynthiune.app is the only package not yet ported to the new
FLAC so this will complete the libflac7->libflac8 transition as well
-- if it is done right, of course, which I highly doubt.)

Bug#444196: SIGSEGV when opening print dialog

2007-11-04 Thread Andreas Tille

On Sat, 13 Oct 2007 Joachim Breitner wrote:

these bugs #444196 and #444824 are probably related...

I doubt that.
When I reported #449050 which was caused by a switch from 2.10 to
2.12 I did quite short before I observed the crash of the printing
dialog in Galeon. It sounds very likely that the gtk+ update is
connected to the Galeon problem described in this bug report.

I do not observe the same problem with iceweasel so if it would
have the same reason it should happen on the same machine, right?

BTW, I know that Galeon is dead upstream and this really hurts me
because I regard Galeon as the best browser (usage wise) I ever
used and even if I'm lacking some interesting features of the old
Galeon 1.x (quick change of proxy settings for instance) it has
some features like intelligent bockmarks for instance I'm missing
so heavily in iceweasel that I'm quite reluctant to change even if
I have the feeling that Galeon is more and more likely to crash
in several cases that are not reproducible (and thus I can not
file reasonable bug reports). It would be so great if somebody
would start investing some time into the best browser I ever used.

Kind regards

 Andreas.

Can you try whether it will still fail when you install librsvg2-2
package? It looks like some missing dependency.
