Hi,

I was trying to build gambas2 from source on fresh amd64 sid and it
failed with the following error:

I guess this is related to the recent move to g++-4.2 which is more
strict about conversion errors.

Hi, thanks for your info, but gambas2 is not compatible with the amd64
architecture, and it's not built in Debian for that arch, so I can not
understand how a FTBS bug could be applied for this arch in this case.

Regards.

A default installation of apache2 on etch (apt-get install apache2),
does not create the cgi-bin directory /usr/lib/cgi-bin.
As former apache2-common packages shipped this directory I'm filing the
bug against apache2.2-common.

Hi,

/etc/init.d/apache2, at lines 105 and 108, contains the [[ ... ]]
syntax, which is bash-specific, even if the init script begins with
#!/bin/sh -e

This makes the script break when one uses another posix-compliant shell
as /bin/sh, such as dash.

Thanks,
iustin

Please purge this package and install the ones which are in debian.
then you should be able to build the kernel module with module-assistant
auto-install virtualbox-ose. see README.Debian for details.

This should work and is well tested.

I'll would like to close this bug if you don't have any objections against
this since this is really no bug in our package :)
See bug no. 440896 which is also about this issue.

Sorry, for this false alarm then. It seems my system has a mess with virtualbox
and virtualbox-ose files.

This should be fixed with the next upload, where tuxtype will use
ttf-sil-andika as font.

Also this bug doesnt effect stable, as the GenAI102.ttf is in stable.

Holger

Bug#368968: Removal of csplain from Debian

2007-09-05 Thread Norbert Preining
Dear all,

I want to inform you that within the next few days the
csplain
package as contained in texlive-lang-czechslovak will be removed from
Debian/unstable (and later on from Debian/testing).

The reason is that we waited now more than one (1) year that Petr fixes
only the license text and uploads to CTAN, as announced several times:

On Mit, 06 Sep 2006, Petr Olsak wrote:

This is a sad step, but I don't see any other option.

Of course, if later uploads will make csplain again distributable we
will reinclude it into the Debian TeX Live packages.

Best wishes

Norbert

Bug#440929: apt-cross -i fails completely if an update error happens

2007-09-05 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
Package: apt-cross
Version: 0.2.0
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi Neil,

Here's what the manpage says for apt-cross -i:

--i|--install
Retrieve the architecture-specific package(s) from the Debian
mirrors into the current
directory. Check for dependencies that are suitable for dpkg-cross,
download each dependency
and build, then install the package and dependencies using
dpkg-cross and dpkg -i. If
successfully installed, the temporary downloaded archives are
removed. Requires working sudo
setup and will prompt for the sudo password if necessary (if sudo is
not already cached).

When I do a `apt-cross -a ia64 -i gcc`, it'd follow all the process that
is defined above. The problem is that during an update, some of the
repositories specified in my sources.list file do not offer ia64 or
whatever. And for them, the fetch fails. Now when apt-cross proceeds
ahead, the downloaded file, in this case gcc_4.2.1-5_ia64.deb, is nothing
but an xml file with details about failures it had seen.

This thus further fails with dpkg-cross which complains that the archive
is not a debian archive.

Hello,

following an advice from my sponsor, I tried to remove
python-gnome2-extras from my system and everything still works fine
except for a few missing features (please see the corresponding
execution trace below).

The problem you're experiencing is thus unlikely to come from a
missing python-gnome2-extras package. Could you please run exaile from
a console and send me the complete traceback?

Thanks in advance,

François

Bug#439827: Patch 65-dfa-optional.patch causes grep regressions

2007-09-05 Thread Nicolas François
tags 439827 patch
tags 439827 -upstream

Hello,

The regressions in grep 2.5.3~dfsg-1 are caused by patch
65-dfa-optional.patch.

It should be removed.

As it was used in combination to 64-egf-speedup.patch (which was already
removed) to speed up grep in UTF-8 environments, the resulting grep should
be slow again (#181378 is back)

I will try to have a look at whether these two patches can be re-introduced
next week or later.

By that time, I recommend to remove patch 65-dfa-optional.patch.

Discussed in http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2007/05/msg01173.html

With glibc-2.5 and gcc-4.1.2 (and gcc-4.2), the 'long double'
data type did change from a 64bit representation to a 128bit
representation on alpha, powerpc, sparc, s390. To allow
partial upgrades of packages, we will need to rename all
packages holding libraries with the long double data type in
their API. Both libc and libstdc++ do not need to be renamed,
because they support both representations. We rename the library
packages on all architectures to avoid name mismatches between
architectures (you can avoid the renaming by supporting both
datatype representations in the library as done in glibc and
libstdc++, but unless a library is prepared for that, it does not
seem to be worth the effort).

It is suggested to rename a package libfoo1 to libfoo1ldbl;
please wait with the renaming if the package depends on
another library package which needs renaming.

This package has been indentified as one with header files in
/usr/include matching 'long *double'. Please close this bug report
if it is a false positive, or rename the package accordingly.

Hi,

As libimager-perl contains no files in /usr/include, this appears to be
a false positive. Closing the bug report.

Bug#439827: Patch 65-dfa-optional.patch causes grep regressions

(I don't understand why you un-confirm 439931; it looks like a valid and
reproducible bug to me)

> Hello, did you see #439931 too?

I did not check, but I guess that re-adding the old 64-egf-speedup.patch
should fix it.

Also patches 66-match_icase.patch and 67-w.patch should be considered.

These patches tend to be quite long and hard to maintain. I did not check
if they apply cleanly or not, or even if they were already applied
upstream (based on the result of the test suite, I'm just guessing that
they may still be needed).

Kind Regards,

I thought that it was specific to amd64, and don't have ready access
to a "pure" 64 bit system on which to check.

Package: multipath-tools
Version: 0.4.8-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

My system does not use multipath but I installed multipath-tools to get
kpartx (I know now this is a separate package). When my ramdisk was
next generated (new kernel or initramfs-tools I suppose) I ended up with
an initrd which did not boot (hence severity: critical). This seems to
be because the multipath tools hooks "dmsetup create" on my root disk
but do not undo this when no multipath configuration is discovered (or
whatever I don't really know what is supposed to happen) therefore the
device is busy when the initrd comes to mount it.

Console log, copied by hand since no serial or netconsole available, is
pasted below.

Thanks,
Ian.

It is suggested to rename a package libfoo1 to libfoo1ldbl;
please wait with the renaming if the package depends on
another library package which needs renaming.

This package has been indentified as one with header files in
/usr/include matching 'long *double'. Please close this bug report
if it is a false positive, or rename the package accordingly.

Package: seyon
Version: 2.20c-25
Severity: serious

You forgot to provide the /etc/X11/seyon directory so installation
fails when trying to install the /etc/X11/seyon/seyon-emu symlink.
To reproduce, purge the package, move (or delete) /etc/X11/seyon if it
is still there and try to reinstall the package.
I saw in changelog you use debhelper now. You probably just need to
add etc/X11/seyon in debian/dirs

  Best regards,
Vincent
