Will do. I've checked that libcal3d12 is also API compatible.

monodevelop doesn't use dbus.

Mirco has the patch already applied locally but some other breakages are
preventing him from uploading. Should be ready soon I guess...

Hi,

this B-D has to be turned into a libcal3d12-dev one, as well as the
libguichan0-dev one has to be turned into a libguichan1-dev one.

Then another problem occurs during ./configure, the current eris version
is too recent. Using a >= test instead of a = one should be OK, IMHO.

The ModelHandler.h problem is alread known to Michael, I believe...
[stop, get back to my mails, found the answer to #434033, and now:]
maybe you could tag this bug has pending? That might avoid some time

It is portable, as portable as all dependencies of the application are.
That has nothing to do with CLI nor MS .NET or Mono though.
If developers choose to use libraries that are not portable, it's their
fault. DBus for example is a real showstopper for cross-platform
development, which hopefully changes some day...

native/unstafe/pinvoke are not bad by design, they are good as they
provide the existing functionallity (existing prooven, stable, fast
libraries).

I dont want to tag it pending as this implies that I have solved the
problem already and just not uploaded yet. I tag this bug as
'confirmed'. That should be enough.

I still wait for a patch to make sear work with current guichan. Fun is
that the guichan maintainer wants to upload another API-incompatible
version. Hopefully I get him to write a patch for sear for me.

Cheers,

Yes, it did. Unbootable is one of the options listed in reportbug
for "breaks the whole system".

>Don't use yaird.

Then why is yaird packaged?

I was writing back to note that, violating the rule of updating a
running kernel that it should be rebooted ASAP, I was able to
uninstall yaird and use initramfs-tools instead, and it indeed did
work to create the initrd.img file, as you intimate that it might by
suggesting that there might be some other unnamed package to do what
yaird does (or rather, until today, "did").

My complements to the dselect developers who give a list of
alternatives when uninstalling a package, for other package(s) which
provide that needed functionality.

I was going to ask that the ticket 434597 be reassigned to yaird. But
sadly, it has already been closed.

Bug#434203: Patch for unixodbc failure

2007-07-25 Thread Daniel Schepler
The relevant part of the build log appears to be (from the main configure
output):

...
checking for g++ option to produce PIC... -fPIC
checking if g++ PIC flag -fPIC works... no
checking if g++ static flag -static works... no
checking if g++ supports -c -o file.o... no
...

I've attached a patch which fixes the compilation for me. (Although it
directly patches configure, so I won't tag the bug +patch.)

OK, thank you,

would you try this patch which will remove the fancy but non-essential feature
that caused the bug (apparently the problem is with the \ding macro which
does not seem to be recognized)?

If I have understood the relative state of maintenance of libspf0 and
libspf2 then the right thing to do long-term is to get packages still
depending on libspf0 across onto libspf2, but in the short term an
upload of libspf0 to straighten this out sounds like a good idea.

the bug in libspf appears to be the freeing of p->current_domain and
p->original_domain when they point to the same place (I am triggering
this repeatably using an @gmail.com MAIL FROM for testing, but I
haven't look deep enough to say what is required).

the following patch, which mimics the other place where these are freed,
would seem to be what the author intended.

+  if ((p->spf_rlevel > 0) &&
+  (p->current_domain != p->original_domain))
   {
 xfree(p->current_domain);
   }

I recall now that I looked at using this version of libspf0, and
specifically this bug, when I built myself an spfmilter for sarge,
and at the time I decided I'd rather stick with the version that
was in sarge :-(

I would guess that spfqtool would not suffer from this, but that
whitelister, being a similar sort of thing may. On postfix I mostly
see recommendations for other implementations, so it may be that it,
like spfmilter, is little used in debian ?

Paddy

Please remove any locally installed perl stuff that you might have in
/usr/local/ (as the file shown here).

Then try again and tell us if it fixed your problem.

I got access to a hppa machine (thanks Thibault) - and tried track it down a
bit.
I have now gotten to the makefile generator in qmake -
qmake/generators/makefile.cpp - where there is:
 350 QStringList files =
QDir(real_dir).entryList(QStringList(regex));
real_dir being e.g. the doc/html/ dir - and regex being '*'

That QDir call returns crap filenames like
/home/pusling/src/qt4-x11-4.3.0/doc/html/xml-streambookmarks-xbelreader-h.htmlcpp.htmllugin-cpp.html
/home/pusling/src/qt4-x11-4.3.0/mkspecs/linux-kcclder

being in that dir.

I guess someone needs to dig into the QDir function - and figure out wether to
look outside of qt4 for the problem.

On a sidenote - qt4 4.2.1-2 as in etch builded fine in etch, but fails in the
same ways when trying to build on hppa in current sid, so it could also be
either kernel changes and/or glibc changes. The build log from when glibc2.5
was around also shows the same problems.

I hope someone feels like looking into QDir ;)

/Sune

Sure. The package then builds fine; tagging accordingly.

If you have other patches you want me to test (e.g. to re-enable some
fancy stuff), you can ask me directly via mail, w/o cc'ing the bugreport

The only significant difference between 2.6-2 and 2.6-3 is that we use
gcc-4.2 to build the glibc. So it looks like gcc-4.2 is broken.

We will switch back to gcc-4.1 for powerpc.

After a high number of requests to a shibboleth protected URL, the
shibd process dies. It is irrelevant if the requests are made over a
long or short period of time. However, the misbehaviour was reproduced
using JMeter load tests with a few hundred requests using up to 20
parallel requests.

The misbehaviour could also be forced by using "ab", the Apache HTTP server
benchmarking tool.

After shibd dies, users can no longer access to shibboleh protected
content on the Apache httpd. Therefore, the package libapache2-mod-shib
has to be regarded as being vulnerable to denial of service attacks.

The Shibboleth Service Provider source code is available at
http://shibboleth.internet2.edu/downloads/ .
Binary package available from the same source do not show this behaviour
because they are compiled with patched versions of the log4cpp and xerces-c
libararies.
In other words, this bug is specific to the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
This is due to the fact the package libapache2-mod-shib uses the log4cpp and
xerces-c libraries within the Debian distribution. liblog4cpp4 is not thread-
safe and libxerces27 handles memory allocation wrongly at least when used
with shibd.

Details about the system where the tests were made:
Linux debian 2.6.18-4-686 #1 SMP Wed May 9 23:03:12 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
Shared C library version: 2.3.6.ds1-13

Bug#434656: digikam: FTBFS: --enable-final seems to much for arm

Package: digikam
Version: 2:0.9.2-3

Hello.

digikam FTBFS on arm: the build terminates after 500 minutes while
trying to compile libdigikam_la.all_cpp.cpp. You should probably avoid
using --enable-final on the slower arches, at least arm. You can steal
code to do it from debian-qt-kde.mk.

Denial of service attacks are generally not considered grave security
bugs. Adjusting tags and priority accordingly. I'll leave the etch tag,
but realistically it's unlikely that this sort of update will make it into
the stable release. I would like to get it sorted out going forward,
though.

Do you have a recipe for running ab against a Shibboleth-protected site in
a way that creates this problem? Does ab have to be able to authenticate
in order to create the problem?

So... why did you report the bug against the Shibboleth packages when you
already know that's not where the bug is?

I'll reassign and file proper bug reports when I get a chance. My
understanding was that the log4cpp in Debian already had the patches
applied by the Shibboleth project, but I may have been incorrect in that
and this indicates I probably am. The maintainer seemed willing to apply
them the last time I talked to him about them.

I doubt the xerces-c change is relevant to this. All it does is reduce
memory usage; it shouldn't be causing segfaults. I'm still hoping that
the Shibboleth folks will get the xerces-c maintainers to take that change
rather than making Debian patch xerces-c itself, although at the moment
they don't seem to be trying that hard.

So the problem is that S/390 doesn't have sys/io.h. Is there any
replacement for that on S/390? Openocd tries to do outb()'s etc. to
init/use the parallel port. Do such machines even have parallel ports
and/or USB devices (some openocd-supported JTAG programmers are USB)?

AFAICS, the code can alternatively use ioctl's (instead if outb's),
would that help in any way?

If not, I guess the package can be marked as "not for S/390"?

(the same is probably true for other arches which don't have sys/io.h)

Thanks, Uwe.

Hi!

It looks like your deb unpacking somehow is corrupted. It could be because of
a dist-upgrade went bad or a full partition or something like that.

I am using the exact same binaries here without any problems.

Please try reinstall kdelibs4c2a.

Reinstall and it works.. Thanks

And please - in the future try to use english output from commands.

Ok. I managed to repair the problem.
It showed up that I had old 2.6.8 kernel which wasn't properly working with
udev. Because of it hal couldn't work.

Updating kernel to 2.6.21 did the job. It's all working now.

Bug#434604: advice please

2007-07-25 Thread Zack Weinberg

I've been attempting to fix this bug. Unfortunately, the purge mode
of the postrm doesn't just use ucf (which is easy to deal with); it
also has unconditional uses of userdel and debconf. I think that the
appropriate thing for the userdel operation is to check for the
existence of the binary and leave the user alone if not found, just
like ucf. However, the use of debconf is harder to resolve. We are
reading one key out of debconf in order to know the name of a file to
delete. That file *should* be deleted on purge; any other files in
the same directory should *not* be deleted on purge; its name is
unpredictable. Right now my trial piuparts run is hanging forever in
monotone-server.postrm, I believe because it is trying to talk to a
debconf that has left the building.

Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this?

zw

Thanks Dan,

After going to the effort of building the PDF, we don't even ship within the
Debian package, so I might just back out the build...

Thanks Thomas,

We build the pdf document, but then don't even ship it with the Debian
binaries.

So disabling the build of the pdf documents would solve the issue, as it
is preventing kmymoney from building on those architectures in Debian.

The serious severity was selected because the package fails to build.
I have no opinion on how serious it is to not have this pdf. Not
building the pdf is as valid a resolution for this bug as fixing it
would be.

Man, how can I ping the wordprocessor over the gadget?

First you have not to explore with the mailer, this way from Windows 92 you
neither should ever forward to a software, nor should overclock a menu to the
USB SCSI forward.

Please keep in mind, that building the pdf version of the document is only
meant as an option to be used by the developers and not part of the
standard build. So I would not classify this as serious.

I don't believe that is the concensus view. I think Neal Becker got
it right [http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/162674]

I think typically linux distros want the version, but not the
'gcc41' part. We really do need to allow multiple versions, as is
common practice with other shared libs on linux systems. Since
multiple compilers are uncommon, distros normally ignore that.

The trouble with --layout=system is that it completely strips
the boost version from the library SONAME. Doing that will
cause much more grief after an upgrade (because Boost doesn't
maintain ABI) than the current crisis.

But what is the "simple and expected naming scheme" to which
you refer? Built using --layout=system, I find

libboost_signals.so
and libboost_signals-mt.so

whereas the current Debian install has

libboost_signals-st.so
and libboost_signals-mt.so

Notwithstanding the extra "-st" (which I don't think is a good idea),
I think Debian's scheme is just fine. Is it the extra "-st" that
is bugging you?

Thanks,
-Steve

I FINALLY figured this one out.

The latest enigmail is *always* passing '--use-agent' to gpg, even if the
"Use Agent" box isn't checked in the engmail perferences.

That's a bug.

The reason it manifested itself the way it did, was that I had gpg-agent's
pinentry program set to 'pinentry-curses', which couldn't popup from
thunderbird because there was no terminal. As a result, gpg-agent couldn't
get a passphrase, so gpg couldn't get a passphrase, so sending the message
failed.

Temporary work arounds:
  - Uninstall gpg-agnet
  - Set default pinentry to pinentry-qt or pinentry-gtk

Solution:
  - Make the "Use Agent" checkbox work as advertised.

Funny you should mention it now, it has been like that since 1.4.9-1
;-)... It is either a cmake bug (see #434584) or a problem of
compilation options of qt4 on hppa, which one precisely is not clear
(might be both as well).

For the record, removing the comment above

-> /usr/bin/make || /usr/bin/make

takes the build much further, but then ld fail to link the object files
produced, asking for a -ffunction-sections (even if I did provide one).
I have asked some help on debian-hppa[1], and am awaiting some.

This package has been identified as affected by the removal of php4 in debian.

As php4 will soon be removed, it is very important that we:
 - update the dependencies of all applicable packages to coexist with php5
 - remove source and/or binary packages which have no use without php4

Bug#434615: Logs

2007-07-25 Thread dzf
Answering your questions: Yes, dbus is running. No, there's no other instance
of hald running. Everytime I checked by "/etc/init.d/hal stop". It said hal is
not running.

All the situation appeared when I was trying to install kdebase package.
Everything went well and then postconfiguration of hal crashed, as I pasted in
my bug report.

As You adviced me I tried to run "hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes".
It gave me something like this:

---CUT---
63 [I] hald_dbus.c:4807: local server is listening at
unix:abstract=/var/run/hald/dbus-1PUH6Dqaf2,guid=d0f9953fae1753f4e5e2f$

---CUT---

Then I tried "/etc/init.d/dbus stop" and again "hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes".
I got this:

---CUT---
20:47:14.161 [I] hald.c:529: hal 0.5.9.1

So I tried to "apt-get remove hal" and install hal again, with dbus not running.

Hello.

digikam FTBFS on arm: the build terminates after 500 minutes while
trying to compile libdigikam_la.all_cpp.cpp. You should probably avoid
using --enable-final on the slower arches, at least arm. You can steal
code to do it from debian-qt-kde.mk.

Cheers,
