Bug#272127: freecdb: does not provide a shared library
clone 272127 -1 -2 -3 reassign -1 dbskkd-cdb reassign -2 skkdic reassign -3 skksearch thanks Kawamura-san, In bug #272127, the maintainer (and upstream) of freecdb had this to say about the package: I'm much happier just forcing people to migrate to tinycdb, a cleaner reimplementation of the same idea, called tinycdb; any project that isn't dead itself, and still depends on freecdb, should migrate to tinycdb. TinyCDB even gets updated every once in a while. The only reason freecdb exists is to support software that wants to use djb's cdb, and it even isn't API-compatible with the newer versions of cdb. I am upstream for this fork, and am officially stating that freecdb is _DEAD DEAD DEAD_. Pining for the fjords! It seems that you have three packages: skksearch, skkdic, and dbskkd-cdb that build-depend on freecdb. Can these packages be migrated to TinyCDB, as Tommi suggests? This would let us remove freecdb from the archive, which sounds like it would be a good thing. Thanks, -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Bug#325064: muse: segmentation fault if built from sources on testing

So the random SIGSEGVs seem to be a symptom rather than the cause of this problem. Digging into the source code a bit, the final line I quoted above indicates there's something fishy about your Alsa setup, though. In particular, muse apparently does not receive timer tick events from Alsa. Alas, I'm not very familiar with Alsa these days and don't have a clue why those ticks might get lost. Is there anything special about your installation? Anyway, as this problem seems to be specific to certain setups, I'm lowering the severity of this bug report. Regards, Daniel.

Bug#321644: Mozilla crashes constantly

Actually, DEB_BUILD_ARCH is indeed set up correctly on my amd64. I think it gets set by dpkg-architecture. The problem was that for amd64, it used "OPTFLAGS=-g -O2 -DDEBIAN". I just changed it to "OPTFLAGS=-O -DDEBIAN", just like all other architectures. Now I get something that I can use. Marc -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#325345: tvtime: FTBFS
Adrian Bunk ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): > Package: tvtime > Version: 0.9.15-1 > Severity: serious > > ../plugins/greedyh.asm:270: error: unknown register name 'mm7' in 'asm' This is because of a change in gcc. In version 4, they now require that you use -mmmx before they acknowledge that MMX registers exist. Thanks gcc! :( The fix is to delete the MMX registers from the clobbers list, or compile with -mmmx/-msse. I prefer removing them, as using -mmmx/-msse is scary and opens you up to more gcc bugs. The fix is in CVS HEAD of tvtime, but not in any released .tar.gz yet. -Billy -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#325351: libpam-ssh: pam-ssh without common-auth for authentication authorize to login with wrong password
Package: libpam-ssh Version: 1.91.0-9 Severity: grave Tags: security Justification: user security hole Bonjour, I want to use only pam-ssh to login on my comptuter. So I modify the login pam file and comment @include common-auth. If I want to only user pam-ssh-auth, I need to modify /etc/pam.d/pam-ssh-auth and replace sufficient by required. It is very easy to insert a security hole in your system. Bug#325361: libpango1.0-common: Postinstallation script dies because /etc/defoma/config/pango.conf has not been unpacked
Package: libpango1.0-common Version: 1.8.2-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable When I tried to install libpango1.0-common 1.8.2-1 and libpango1.0-0 1.8.2-1, the libpango1.0-common postinstallation script exited with error 2, causing it not to be configured correctly. I looked through the script and found that the failure is in update-pangox-aliases, which quits with no error message if /etc/defoma/config/pango.conf doesn't yet exist (line 56 of update-pangox-aliases). I did some investigating and found that /etc/defoma/config/pango.conf is supposed to be provided by libpango1.0-common, but did not in fact exist. I don't know why it wasn't unpacked before the postinst ran, but I manually extracted it from libpango1.0-common_1.8.2-1_i386.deb, tried again to install libpango1.0-common and libpango1.0-0, and this time it worked. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.6 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages libpango1.0-common depends on: ii debconf 1.4.57 Debian configuration management sy ii defoma 0.11.8-0.1 Debian Font Manager -- automatic f ii fontconfig 2.3.2-1 generic font configuration library ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-1 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype62.1.7-2.4FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libglib2.0-02.6.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.2-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4compression library - runtime Versions of packages libpango1.0-common recommends: pn x-ttcidfont-conf (no description available) -- debconf information: libpango1.0-common/saved_aliases_file: * libpango1.0-common/suggested_fonts: * libpango1.0-common/notice_xft2_and_fontconfig: libpango1.0-common/use_defoma: true libpango1.0-common/other_fonts: libpango1.0-common/generated_aliases_file: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#317621: xine-ui: fbxine always gives me "Video port failed" error
Testing fbxine here, I see the same - if the screen mode isn't true colour. Setting a mode with at least 16 bits per pixel allows fbxine to work. $ fbset -depth 32 I also predict that, now that fbxine is happy with the screen mode, you'll find that the palette isn't properly set up. The attached program will set it up, but it needs to be run while fbxine is running. -- | Darren Salt | d youmustbejoking, demon,co,uk | nr. Bug#325292: closed for wrong reason
Teun's initial complaint was libqt3-mt replaces libqt3c102-mt but does not provide libqt3c102-mt This is not your run of the mill "KDE is broken" bug, but a more fundamental misunderstanding of ABI transition. You should rather direct Teun et al. to Steve Langasek's message http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/07/msg7.html which says, in part, The library package renames, libfoo1 -> libfoo1c2, libfoo1c102 -> libfoo1c2, or libfoo1c102 -> libfoo1, are done because there is an ABI change *without an upstream soname change*. Since there is no soname change, the files installed by the renamed package will also not change -- which means, just like for any other packages with overlapping files, you *must* conflict with the previous library package name. You must *not* add a Provides: libfoo1 or Provides: libfoo1c102 to the new package; this transition is happening because of an ABI transition, which means the new package will NOT provide the same interface as the old one, and setting Provides will lead apt to give your users broken package combinations. Bug#325351: libpam-ssh: pam-ssh without common-auth for authentication authorize to login with wrong password

While I'm not sure I agree that this qualifies as a user security hole, I do think it's inappropriate for libpam-ssh to provide separate pam.d "include" files in this fashion. The @include common-* infrastructure provided by the libpam package was never intended for this, and Sylvain points out at least one reason why PAM modules can't provide their own config files that will be generally useful. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
