I also faces exactly the same problem when trying to build ntp 4.2.0a+stable-8. After some investigation, I find the three macros were #undef-ed by a system header . The inclusion path was: ntpd/ntp_config.c -> -> -> -> -> So, with a quick hack by moving the local source headers down below the system headers (as demonstrated in the patch below), it appears to compile. I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do. Package: splashy Version: 0.2.1 Severity: important -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 On fresh install, splashy shows splash screen, but its progress bar does not progress. I find this chunk in /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh may be where the updates are skipped: 40 # Start splashy code 41 SPL_UPD=/sbin/splashy_update 42 SPL_PRG=/lib/splashy/$RUNLEVEL-progress 43 44 if [ -x $SPL_UPD -a -f $SPL_PRG ]; then ... If you like to see what I have done, I have put the source at: http://linux.thai.net/~thep/debian/source/ipp2p/ If you have done it, just ignore this message. No, I don't think it's upstream bug. As I said in the first post, my another installation from upstream source via jhbuild does not have this problem. I got the following comment: 14:23 < mclasen> lool: if the blink timeout breaks an IM, that IM makes some unwarranted assumptions, I'd say That assumption is that the widget must call gtk_im_context_filter_keypress() with event->state cleared on corresponding bits for unpressed modifier keys. Is that unwarranted? :-/ However, oddly enough, I added the patch back to debug it. The bug does not come back again!! So, I reverted to the official deb. It's completely gone!! Bug#419595: libpango1.0-udeb: undesirable new dependencies
On 4/20/07, Josselin Mouette <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: AFAIK these libraries are only needed by the Thai language module, not by the pango library itself. I don't know how critical this module is to proper Thai support in the installer. Theppitak, do you know about it? It provides proper line wrapping for Thai messages. As Thai words are not delimited by spaces, missing it would mean that some long continuous texts would exceed screen boundary and be wrapped at random positions, and the right margin of normal texts would be heavily ragged, due to relative lack of line break positions. OTOH, achieving it costs around 900 KB additional memory (roughly measured by the difference between loading leafpad with and without pango-thai-lang module). So, it's a trade-off. If that's too much for marginal improvement, we can drop it from d-i. (So far, I haven't heard users' complaint about this on Etch installer yet. But I can't be sure if that means they are OK with it. Not all of them install Debian with GUI installer.) If it is necessary to have it, we can split the thai module in a separate udeb to avoid the dependency inflation. Otherwise, we can simply remove it from the udeb. IMO, this issue is not so critical, as long messages are rare in d-i, compared to usual desktop apps, and we have the whole screen as the space, not varying window sizes. -- Theppitak Karoonboonyanan http://linux.thai.net/~thep/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Comparably as efficient as hashing, trie also provides flexibility on incremental matching and key spelling manipulation. This makes it ideal for lexical analyzers, as well as spelling dictionaries. . This is an implementation of double-array structure for representing trie, as proposed by Junichi Aoe. And I've asked debian-mentors for the solution: http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2006/10/msg00243.html It seems Steve Langasek's solution can solve it. Let me summarize the problem: The diversion couldn't be removed because the babel.sty file still exists, not because of the old tetex-base's ownership (because the file is being diverted, the tetex-base's version should be diverted to babel.sty.real) but because of thailatex's own version. Steve's solution is to remove the diversion at postinst, by tricking dpkg-divert by moving away the newly installed babel.sty before removing the diversion, and then moving it back afterward. He has been careful in making the script work even if it's called many times. I haven't adopted the part that he suggested to Conflicts: and Replaces: tetex-base (<<3.0), anyway. Last time I looked at it, babel.sty differed from tetex-base's version only in one line, the addition of the thai language. Bug#605084: gaphor: Control flows lost in Actions Diagram when opening saved file
Package: gaphor Version: 0.15.0-1.1 Severity: important When gaphor opens saved file with Actions diagram, all control flow lines are lost. Only nodes like initials, finals, actions are left. When checking the saved file, I find the control flow data are still there. They just disappear from the screen when re-opened. And when saving it again, they will be actually lost. So, I suspect the file reading process has skipped them, or the saved data may be incomplete. The attached files illustrate a minimal case: 1. wo.gaphor is a minimal Actions diagram with only initial and final nodes, *without* the control flow. 2. w.gaphor is the same diagram as in wo.gaphor, *with* a single control flow from initial to final node. The data is there in the saved file, but gets lost when re-opened. 3. w2.gaphor is w.gaphor saved after re-opened. Now the control flow data gets actually lost, and becomes identical to wo.gaphor. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=th_TH.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=th_TH.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gaphor depends on: ii python2.6.6-3+squeeze1 interactive high-level object-orie ii python-cairo 1.8.8-1+b1 Python bindings for the Cairo vect ii python-gaphas 0.6.0-1diagramming widget ii python-gnome2 2.28.1-1 Python bindings for the GNOME desk ii python-gobject2.21.4+is.2.21.3-1 Python bindings for the GObject li ii python-gtk2 2.17.0-4 Python bindings for the GTK+ widge ii python-pkg-resources 0.6.14-4 Package Discovery and Resource Acc ii python-simplegeneric 0.7-1 Simple generic functions for Pytho ii python-support1.0.11 automated rebuilding support for P ii python-zope.component 3.9.1-1Zope Component Architecture gaphor recommends no packages. gaphor suggests no packages. -- no debconf information http://gaphor.sourceforge.net/model"; version="3.0" gaphor-version="0.15.0"> (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 145.0, 30.0) 20.0 20.0 0 (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 139.0, 96.0) 30.0 30.0 0 http://gaphor.sourceforge.net/model"; version="3.0" gaphor-version="0.15.0"> (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 145.0, 30.0) 20.0 20.0 0 (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 139.0, 96.0) 30.0 30.0 0 0 (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 155.0, 50.0) 0 0 [(0.0, 0.0), (0.0, 46.0)] http://gaphor.sourceforge.net/model"; version="3.0" gaphor-version="0.15.0"> (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 145.0, 30.0) 20.0 20.0 0 (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 139.0, 96.0) 30.0 30.0 0

Bug#732606: apt-cacher-ng: Confusion between config file and debconf
Package: apt-cacher-ng Version: 0.7.23-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, After upgrading to 0.7.23-1, my apt-cacher-ng fails to serve with modified configurations. In my case, I modify CacheDir: and Port: in /etc/apt-cacher-ng/acng.conf. But this is no longer obeyed. I have just found out later that they are overridden by debconf entries. This is confusing. If debconf is to take priority, the values from the conffile should be retained by pre-filling the answers to debconf questions, and user might be asked to confirm that, i.e., by raising the priority of the debconf questions. And the entries might be removed from the shipped conffile if they are no longer effective. Yes, it does. Thanks. I install the 'ruby' dependency package instead, to get the current default (ruby1.9.1), and apt-listbugs gets back to work again. Do you think declaring Break: against ruby1.8 a good idea? (Whether apt-listbugs or ruby-debian should do this is beyond my knowledge.) Bug#697255: keyboard-configuration: XKBVARIANT "us" for "us" layout causes XKB load error
Package: keyboard-configuration Version: 1.90 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, On 1.89 -> 1.90 upgrade, /etc/default/keyboard is overwritten with XKBVARIANT="us,tis" from the old value XKBVARIANT=",tis". This causes xkbcomp error when starting X server: ---8<--- The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > Error:No Symbols named "us" in the include file "us" > Exiting > Abandoning symbols file "default" Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file. ---8<--- And all XKB functionalities do not work any more. (Most importantly, no group switching, and thus no way to type non-US keysyms.) Manually fixing XKBVARIANT back to ",tis" does solve the problem, but whenever I "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration", it will be back again. I think the relevant change is this one: [ Anton Zinoviev ] * Proofreading of debian/keyboard-configuration.config. Make the file a little more readable with more comments. Some changes in the logic. This probably fixes the important part of #693485. Thanks to Bob Bib. I can see two occurrences of 'XKBVARIANT="us,' pattern in debian/keyboard-configuration.config file. Replacing it with 'XKBVARIANT=",' does solve the problem, but surely there can be other places where the logic is hidden. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=th_TH.utf8, LC_CTYPE=th_TH.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages keyboard-configuration depends on: ii debconf 1.5.49 ii initscripts 2.88dsf-35 ii liblocale-gettext-perl 1.05-7+b1 keyboard-configuration recommends no packages. keyboard-configuration suggests no packages.
