Bug#310521: tuxmath: Menu Item Missing

2005-05-23 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: tuxmath
Version: 0.0.20050316-1
Severity: normal

TuxMath does not provide a system menu item. This makes kids hard to
find and launch it.

Bug#311311: celestia-gnome: Incorrect GNOME menu entry

2005-05-30 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: celestia-gnome
Version: 1.3.2-1
Severity: normal

Celestia-gnome provides celestia.desktop which appears in GNOME menu and
points to 'celestia' rather than 'celestia-gnome'. This makes it
unaccessible through GNOME menu.

The Debian menu, however, already provides the correct entry.

Yes, menu is provided now in this release. But it incorrectly points to
'/usr/bin/tuxmath' which should have been '/usr/games/tuxmath'.

Bug#320293: thai-system conflicts with xorg

2005-07-27 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: thai-system
Version: 2
Severity: normal

thai-system requires xserver-xfree86, which is now replaced by
xserver-xorg in Etch. That causes the conflict when trying to install
Thai support packages on Etch.

Bug#327012: More info on FTBFS bug

2005-09-08 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
I also faces exactly the same problem when trying to build ntp 4.2.0a+stable-8.
After some investigation, I find the three macros were #undef-ed by a system
header . The inclusion path was:

  ntpd/ntp_config.c ->  ->  ->
  ->  ->

So, with a quick hack by moving the local source headers down below the
system headers (as demonstrated in the patch below), it appears to compile.

I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do. But this may help a bit.

Thanks a lot for your quick response.

Yes, they are fuzzy because they are yet to be checked.
I'll get back later on any progress.

Bug#401394: /lib/splashy missing on fresh install, blocking progress bar

2006-12-02 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan

Package: splashy
Version: 0.2.1
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

On fresh install, splashy shows splash screen, but its progress bar
does not progress. I find this chunk in /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh may be
where the updates are skipped:

40 # Start splashy code
41 SPL_UPD=/sbin/splashy_update
42 SPL_PRG=/lib/splashy/$RUNLEVEL-progress
43
44 if [ -x $SPL_UPD -a -f $SPL_PRG ]; then
 ...

I check it and find /lib/splashy directory totally missing.
Thus, the progress is never made. And manually doing
'mkdir /lib/splashy' just solves the problem.

Bug#415949: gnome-utils: Manpage for gnome-screenshot

2007-03-23 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan

On 3/23/07, Loïc Minier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

I'm sorry, this was already filed as #384602 and fixed in gnome-utils
 2.14.0.dfsg-5 in unstable.

Indeed. I only checked experimental and missed that fix in unstable.

Could you please resend your enhancements as a patch against the
 attached manpage?

Done. Please find it in the attachment.

I have re-checked it by trying the program. It's valid for both
gnome-utils 2.14 and 2.16.

In GNOME 2.18, however, more options have been introduced,
which were described in my first post. (That is, I happened to run
the program from my jhbuild GNOME 2.18 while writing it, which
was wrong, but that means it will need update in 2.18 upload.)

Note that I have also fixed some errors:
 - expand < and > in dhemail entity
 - remove brackets in "--delay [=INT]" because the argument
   is mandatory.
 - add SEE ALSO gtk-options(7)
So, please also check if such changes are OK.

Bug#408258: IPP2P

2007-03-30 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan

Hi,

How is this going on? I had packaged it as part of my part-time
job and was wondering whether I should file ITP for it, because I
haven't used it myself and I don't think I know it well enough to
maintain it, before someone directed me to this bug.

If you like to see what I have done, I have put the source at:

If you have done it, just ignore this message. Otherwise, could
you consider taking it for maintenance?

Is this the im-thai module from Gtk itself, or from a separate source?

It's from GTK+ itself. Note that I'm mentioning libgtk2.0-0

Ok; there's a new upstream release, .10, which fixes at least one IM
 problem:
329450Crash on IM switch ... (was already reported earlier)

But it doesn't look like yours.

No, I don't think it's upstream bug. As I said in the first post,
my another installation from upstream source via jhbuild
does not have this problem.

Could you try the Gtk at:

The bug remains there.

I'm also trying to test it.

In GdkEventKey passed to the gtk_im_context_thai_filter_keypress()
function, event->state appears to always have value 0x0010, that
is, with Mod2 set. And, by the logic of the IM, it's not normal
key press, and not processed.

The culprit seems to be 031_cursor-blinking-timeout.patch.
Try removing it and the bug is gone.

As stated in the patch comment, this is from trunk. That can
explain the difference with my jhbuild gtk-2-10 branch.

 Can you try jhbuilding trunk?

 I got the following comment:
14:23 < mclasen> lool: if the blink timeout breaks an IM, that IM makes some
 unwarranted assumptions, I'd say

That assumption is that the widget must call
gtk_im_context_filter_keypress() with event->state cleared
on corresponding bits for unpressed modifier keys. Is that
unwarranted? :-/

However, oddly enough, I added the patch back to debug it.
The bug does not come back again!!

So, I reverted to the official deb. It's completely gone!!

Let me try to reproduce it again. I'm not sure what happened
during the tests that made it gone.

Bug#419595: libpango1.0-udeb: undesirable new dependencies

2007-04-19 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan

On 4/20/07, Josselin Mouette <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

AFAIK these libraries are only needed by the Thai language module, not
by the pango library itself.

I don't know how critical this module is to proper Thai support in the
installer. Theppitak, do you know about it?

It provides proper line wrapping for Thai messages.
As Thai words are not delimited by spaces, missing it would
mean that some long continuous texts would exceed
screen boundary and be wrapped at random positions,
and the right margin of normal texts would be heavily
ragged, due to relative lack of line break positions.

OTOH, achieving it costs around 900 KB additional memory
(roughly measured by the difference between loading leafpad
with and without pango-thai-lang module).

So, it's a trade-off. If that's too much for marginal improvement,
we can drop it from d-i. (So far, I haven't heard users'
complaint about this on Etch installer yet. But I can't be sure
if that means they are OK with it. Not all of them install
Debian with GUI installer.)

If it is necessary to have it, we can split the thai module in a
separate udeb to avoid the dependency inflation. Otherwise, we can
simply remove it from the udeb.

IMO, this issue is not so critical, as long messages are rare
in d-i, compared to usual desktop apps, and we have the
whole screen as the space, not varying window sizes.

This package should probably build-depends on libgtk2.0-bin

Actually, the build-depends is unnecessary. It's a bug in upstream
Makefile. I'll fix this in next upstream release.

Rather, it should be just depends instead, as it's used in postinst,
postrm. So, it will be changed in next upload.

Bug#391768: Please update debconf PO translation for the package exim4 4.63-4.0

2006-10-08 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan

You are noted as the last translator of the debconf translation for
exim4.

These templates have been changed by the package maintainer to better
integrate with Debian Installer. This translation is part of "level 3" of
D-I translations.

We would be grateful if you could take the time and update it.

Done. Please find the updated Thai PO in the attachment.

Cheers,

  Description : Double-array trie library

Trie is a kind of digital search tree, an efficient indexing method with
O(1) time complexity for searching. Comparably as efficient as hashing,
trie also provides flexibility on incremental matching and key spelling
manipulation. This makes it ideal for lexical analyzers, as well as
spelling dictionaries.
.
This is an implementation of double-array structure for representing trie,
as proposed by Junichi Aoe. The details of the implementation can be found
at http://linux.thai.net/~thep/datrie/datrie.html

Great, if you planned an upload with similar changes, please upload the

However, if you can't upload right now, I can go on an NMU.

OK. I have built the new package with adjusted patch (dropping
libpango-1.0-common dep as well). And it now works even without
/etc/pango/pango.modules file.

It will be uploaded by my sponsor soon.

Bug#388251: Please rebuild your package against the new pango1.0

On 9/26/06, Loïc Minier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Unless you object I'll NMU pango-libthai with the proposed changes as

I missed the original report, sorry. The mail from Debian BTS didn't
show up well enough to catch my attention, despite a careful mail
filter configuration. :( (This is not the first time I wish Debian BTS
to send direct mail to maintainer, rather than just to the bug number.
Or constantly polling QA page is the best way to be aware of bug
reports.)

Yes, I noticed the change in the new libpango changelog two days
ago, and was about to build a new release, until your second comment
arrived, and I accidentally noticed. :P And the change in your patch is
exactly what I planned to do. So, please go on.

Thank you for your patch.

Yes, via piuparts. Here the command used:

piuparts -a -d sarge -d etch gnupg jtex-base jmpost latex209-base jadetex
thailatex dvipdfmx abntex ptex-bin ptex-base tetex-extra jlatex209-base tex4ht
passivetex libkpathsea-perl tetex-brev hlatex latex.service

I have been working on it. I can reproduce it with a debootstrapped
sarge chroot. And I've asked debian-mentors for the solution:
 http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2006/10/msg00243.html
It seems Steve Langasek's solution can solve it.

Sorry for not responding in the first place.

What is the exact change in dpkg 1.13.21 that is relevant to this, anyway?

It seems Steve Langasek's solution can solve it.

Let me summarize the problem:

The diversion couldn't be removed because the babel.sty file
still exists, not because of the old tetex-base's ownership
(because the file is being diverted, the tetex-base's version
should be diverted to babel.sty.real) but because of thailatex's
own version.

Steve's solution is to remove the diversion at postinst, by
tricking dpkg-divert by moving away the newly installed
babel.sty before removing the diversion, and then moving
it back afterward. He has been careful in making the script
work even if it's called many times.

I haven't adopted the part that he suggested to Conflicts:
and Replaces: tetex-base (<<3.0), anyway. Blame me if
my decision is wrong.

Summarized change (with debdiff) is attached.

Dear Frank,

If the change is OK, would you mind sponsoring the upload again?
It's available at:

Thank you,

Okay, this means that tetex-base's version will vanish without problems,
and only thailatex's will be there, right?

Right. And when upgrading on sid, dpkg-divert just complains
a little bit that there is no such diversion, before continuing the
installing process to the end.

Last time I looked at it, babel.sty differed from tetex-base's version
only in one line, the addition of the thai language. It should also
change the version number to indicate that the file was patched. Have
you added this? If yes, I'm willing to sponsor it.

OK. I have just added the subversion from v3.8d to v3.8d.thai1.

I'm not sure, I also have the impression that, with the existing
diversion, there's no problem of a conflict. However, I generally trust
Steve to know why he does things, and it doesn't hurt much. So maybe
you should add it.

Yes, it doesn't hurt. And I also trust him. So, I have added it.
Please get the updated version at the old place.

Please hold on. His recent comment helps me understand
the script better. I will adjust the postinst script first. And,
according to his comment, it seems the Conflicts: and Replaces:
are no longer needed.

Bug#393666: #393666: More info on proftpd segfaults

I suffer from this bug too. After the last upgrade, first proftpd didn't
want to start up at all, complaining of missing files while loading
modules. Commenting out mod_ldap and mod_sql_* from modules.conf seemed

Yes, I passed this step, too. I forgot to mention it when filing
the bug.

However, it crashes on new connection as described by Theppitak. A had
the luck to get an additional error in syslog - "FTP session requested
from unknown class". Removing mod_sql and mod_radius from modules.conf
made it work again.

I confirm that this fixes the problem in my server, too.
Thanks for your info.

So, it's configuration problem after package refactoring?

Bug#605084: gaphor: Control flows lost in Actions Diagram when opening saved file

2010-11-27 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: gaphor
Version: 0.15.0-1.1
Severity: important

When gaphor opens saved file with Actions diagram, all control flow lines are
lost. Only nodes like initials, finals, actions are left.

When checking the saved file, I find the control flow data are still there.
They just disappear from the screen when re-opened. And when saving it again,
they will be actually lost. So, I suspect the file reading process has skipped
them, or the saved data may be incomplete.

The attached files illustrate a minimal case:

1. wo.gaphor is a minimal Actions diagram with only initial and final nodes,
   *without* the control flow.

2. w.gaphor is the same diagram as in wo.gaphor, *with* a single control
flow from initial to final node. The data is there in the saved file,
   but gets lost when re-opened.

3. w2.gaphor is w.gaphor saved after re-opened. Now the control flow data
gets actually lost, and becomes identical to wo.gaphor.

Bug#738145: fonts-senamirmir-washra: debcheckout fails in unstable

2014-02-07 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: fonts-senamirmir-washra
Version: 4.1-6
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

With unstable deb-src:

---8<---
$ debcheckout fonts-senamirmir-washra
declared svn repository at
svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-fonts/packages/fonts-senamirmir-washra/trunk/
svn co svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-fonts/packages/fonts-senamirmir-washra/trunk/
fonts-senamirmir-washra ...
svn: E17: URL
'svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-fonts/packages/fonts-senamirmir-washra/trunk' doesn't
exist
checkout failed (the command above returned a non-zero exit code)
---8<---

It seems to require experimental to successfully check out, as the SVN
repository has already been removed.

I find the 4.1-8 package has been uploaded to experimental for 9 months.
I think that is long enough for the experiment.

However, I find a typo in Vcs-Browser field in the package:

---8<---
Vcs-Browser:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?=pkg-fonts/fonts-senamirmir-washra.git;a=summary
---8<---

A 'p' is missing between '?' and '='. That is, it should be:

---8<---
Vcs-Browser:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-fonts/fonts-senamirmir-washra.git;a=summary
---8<---

I wonder if this bug still exists in the newest upstream version 0.5.2,

uploaded for re-evaluation? It should be good to have midori back in

Bug#732606: apt-cacher-ng: Confusion between config file and debconf

2013-12-19 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: apt-cacher-ng
Version: 0.7.23-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading to 0.7.23-1, my apt-cacher-ng fails to serve with
modified configurations. In my case, I modify CacheDir: and Port: in
/etc/apt-cacher-ng/acng.conf. But this is no longer obeyed. I have just
found out later that they are overridden by debconf entries.

This is confusing. If debconf is to take priority, the values from the
conffile should be retained by pre-filling the answers to debconf questions,
and user might be asked to confirm that, i.e., by raising the priority of
the debconf questions.

And the entries might be removed from the shipped conffile if they are
no longer effective.

NEWS.Debian may also be used to communicate this to users.

I should have added that the service was also started on wrong port,
3142 after debconf, not after conffile.

Package: fonts-khmeros

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

With fontconfig 2.11.0-1, some errors from /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-khmer.conf
appear when starting GUI apps:

  $ gedit
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/65-khmer.conf", line 14: out of memory
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/65-khmer.conf", line 23: out of memory
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/65-khmer.conf", line 32: out of memory

In the file:

  sans-serif

  Khmer OS

the element is out of place here. (From fonts.dtd, is to
contain and elements, and the element is a direct
child of .)

Removing it makes the errors disappear:

  sans-serif

  Khmer OS

Same for serif and monospace.

thailatex has been merged into texlive-lang-other and should be removed.

For the record, it has already been removed from testing [1], but the

still reports such availibility. It should also be removed from unstable.

Yes, it does. Thanks. I install the 'ruby' dependency package instead,
to get the current default (ruby1.9.1), and apt-listbugs gets back to
work again.

Do you think declaring Break: against ruby1.8 a good idea?
(Whether apt-listbugs or ruby-debian should do this is beyond my
knowledge.)

Bug#741070: josm: Fails to load Bing Sat images

2014-03-07 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: josm
Version: 0.0.svn6502+dfsg3-1

Dear Maintainer,

When trying to load Bing Sat images with "Imagery > Bing Sat" menu,
JOSM pops up an error dialog saying "Input == null!".

There is no other message on the terminal used to invoke it when
the error occurs.

Downgrading to 0.0.svn6502+dfsg1-1 does solve the problem.

Bug#746928: libm17n-0: Drop dependency on m17n-contrib

2014-05-03 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: libm17n-0
Version: 1.6.4-2
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

m17n-contrib is a transitional package for m17n-db, and the only package
that still depends on it is libm17n-0, which already depends on m17n-db.
So, m17n-contrib can be removed from libm17n-0 dependencies, so it can
actually be removed from the system.

Bug#750626: dvd-slideshow: No video output due to deprecated commands

2014-06-04 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: dvd-slideshow
Version: 0.8.4.2-2
Severity: grave
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

With this minimal test case:

---8<---
$ cat > test <= 14.4.0 is found silences the warnings.

3. [severe] Failure on avconv, after above issues are fixed, due to
deprecated '-loop_input' option. From test.log:

Replacing '-loop_input' option with '-loop 1' fixes the problem.

Thanks for the report. I've applied the fix upstream:

http://linux.thai.net/websvn/wsvn/software.swath?op=comp&compare[]=%2Ftrunk@237&compare[]=%2Ftrunk@238

I'm estimating the risk to decide what to do in Debian.
The use of Mule mode is quite rare, IMO.

So, it's still possible to exploit by explicitly invoking swath mule mode
in some scripts or so. I think I'll fix this.

This is from the postinst portion generated by dh_installtex:

---8<---
case "$1" in

So, reassigning it to tex-common.

Bug#697255: keyboard-configuration: XKBVARIANT "us" for "us" layout causes XKB load error

2013-01-02 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: keyboard-configuration
Version: 1.90
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

On 1.89 -> 1.90 upgrade, /etc/default/keyboard is overwritten with
XKBVARIANT="us,tis" from the old value XKBVARIANT=",tis". This causes
xkbcomp error when starting X server:

---8<---
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Error:No Symbols named "us" in the include file "us"
> Exiting
> Abandoning symbols file "default"
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.
---8<---

And all XKB functionalities do not work any more. (Most importantly, no
group switching, and thus no way to type non-US keysyms.)

Manually fixing XKBVARIANT back to ",tis" does solve the problem,
but whenever I "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration",
it will be back again.

I think the relevant change is this one:

  [ Anton Zinoviev ]
  * Proofreading of debian/keyboard-configuration.config. Make the file a
little more readable with more comments. Some changes in the logic.
This probably fixes the important part of #693485. Thanks to Bob Bib.

I can see two occurrences of 'XKBVARIANT="us,' pattern in
debian/keyboard-configuration.config file. Replacing it with 'XKBVARIANT=",'
does solve the problem, but surely there can be other places where the
logic is hidden.

It seems this does not happen with clean installs. So, it may not be an issue.
Could I do the NMU, then?

Uploaded to DELAYED/2.

Without response for a long time, I assume it's qualified NMU, despite the

I had also found it out before seeing your message. So, I've cancelled the NMU.

Anyway, I also stumbled upon this lintian info:

I: gnome-themes-standard: arch-dep-package-has-big-usr-share 3549kB 99%

That made me plan to move the non-engine parts into -common instead.
What do you think?

OK. I didn't think normal users want those a11y themes, so I hadn't added the
dependency. Will do it now as you suggest, anyway.

OK.
