Bug#338930: gambas - FTBFS: creating symbolic link: Permission denied
Thanks, In fact I had already apply the same solution for the packages a couple of weeks ago, but they I am in the nm process and I am waiting for a sponsor to upload them. They are located at http://apt.linex.org/linex/gambas/ . If you are a debian maintainer it would be great if you can check them and upload them to Debian. Regards. Bug#403515: Please add gambas2 interpreter to lintian
Package: lintian Severity: wishlist Gambas is a complete visual development environment for BASIC in linux. The development version of gambas (already in experimental) had gbx2 as its interpreter and it was added to lintian, but due to a conflict with a FreeBSD tool it has been renamed to gbr2. The gbr2 interpreter is being provided by the package gambas2-runtime that's already in the Debian New queue (http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html ). So, please, add gbr2 as a interpreter to lintian, and you can remove gbx2 as it's not longer used. Thanks signature.asc Description: Esta parte del mensaje está firmada digitalmente

The source is not available in the Debian sources, so it's still a serious violation of the DFSG. You must include all the sources, not sources mixed with binaries and trust that you can find the rest of the sources in the net. So this is still a RC bug. I know, but I meant that "migrated to testing" affected to the simple-cdd builds that I do using a testing repository. So, since then, the error raises in daily built images and in the isos I generate with simple-cdd. Sorry, but I don't see any error in your screenshots. The only thing I apreciate is the big size of the windows. In gambas it depends on the size of the default fonts in qt. Debian qt default configuration is really awful, so you should change it. I attach you the file qtrc (to be placed in ~/.qt/) I use without any problem. You can do your own configuration installing the package kcontrol and changing the size of the fonts by yourself. Please, confirm me that's your problem to close this bug. Regards. José L. Bug#215968: patch for version 3.1.0
I've upgraded the patch to work on current sid/lenny dhcp3 version (3.1.0). It's available at http://linex.educarex.es/dhcpd-ldap/dhcp-3.1.0-ldap.patch There are two options of using it: - patching always Debian dhcp3 sources, so dhcp3-server is always able to use ldap as backend - creating a new package called dhcp3-server-ldap In any case, I think dhcp3 maintainers have to take the decission. If they don't want to maintain a dhcp3-server-ldap package but think it would be the best solution I could manage to maintain it inside Debian Edu. This patch is beginning to be a real need for many projects, and in Debian Edu CDD we see it as the only solution to manage thousands of computers using dhcp. As we want to use only packages inside Debian we need an answer to implement it in the future Lenny based version. And that option would be very studied inside Debian Edu community before deciding to go on it. And, in case we do it, first condition would be to always stay in syncr with dhcp3, what would make debian security team life not so hard. Anyway, first option is getting that into upstream, but upstream says they don't want to use it as he doesn't want to make the server non-rfc-compliant[1] and it's not in his roadmap[2]. Second option is including it into current dhcp3 package patches, but that does not depend on me. We're looking forward for some answer from current maintainers. Cheers. José L. Package: ltsp-server Version: 5.0.40~bzr20071229-1 Severity: important With the new squashfs-tools that migrated to lenny on 2008-02-11, the script ltsp-update-image does not work anymore. It's pretty reasonable, but it might also be some config that should be changed in ltsp-update-image to make it work. Obviously mksquashfs and unsquashfs work perfectly on the ltsp-server, so I don't know how to report this bug in the squashfs-tool package as it seems only a problem when using squashfs-tools with ltsp. > > > I can make more tests if some ideas, options or workarounds are > > possible. > > you probably have much more experience with this mode of operation than > i do... > Maybe with the operation I have more experience but I do not have a good knowledge of how the image is uncompressed and mounted from the initrd when the ltsp terminal starts. It just a problem of what you and me can understand as a functionality. You use the ispell example and I can use the openoffice.org-l10n-2.2 virtual package that works exactly as we say wims-extra should work: providing a functionality to a metapackage. Anyway, I don't care about it anymore, as Magnus Holmgren said in a previous comment to this bug, we can use it "privately, amongst a cooperating group of packages", and that's probably the rightest solution to this issue. Bug#504471: mondo: add a cdrecord dependency or recommendation
Package: mondo Version: 1:2.2.7-1 Severity: important Using latest mondo package from Debian sid, I found that mondoarchive just does not start if cdrecord package is not installed. I think that's a stupid behaviour as you can use mondo to save images in the hard disk, but that's the way it behaves. So, please, add cdrecord to its dependencies, or at least as a recommendation. Bug#509877: ldm: please add support for non-readers login
Package: ldm Version: 2:2.0.6-4 Severity: wishlist I'd like to use ltsp in primary schools for children that can not read and write yet. In the past I've used gdm with its "Face browser" feature, using also pam to allow some "faces" login without password. Migrating to ltsp makes me need some similar feature with ldm, otherwise small children will not be able to use the computers as youngest kids can not read or they're still learning to read or write. You can see an example of my previous gdm login at http://www.educarex.es/linexcolegios/ . I know kdm can also manage faces, so it's not a weird option. It would be great adding such feature to ldm, or at least, some icon to be able to login without typing a login user (for the password it can be avoided using pam). Bug#373224: Recognize automagically the digital signature from mozilla
Package: openoffice.org-common Severity: wishlist Tags: patch This is a simple patch over ooo-wrapper that makes OO recognize automatically the digital signature from mozilla if it's available. This will avoid the end user the need to open a terminal and export the MOZILLA_CERTIFICATE_FOLDER environment variable before starting OO from that terminal, what it's not very desirable for most end-users. I have tested it for a month in more than a hundred of installations without any problem. Anyway it would fail if an user has two mozilla profiles. In such case it will locate the signature only for the first one. I'm not a perl programmer, so I'm sure the patch can be improved by some perl guru, but it works. I'm using firefox 1.5.0.1 backported to Debian Sarge. Since then it works like a charm. I've done this work for our regional Debian based distribution (gnuLinEx, it's Sarge based with Etch backports for the desktop applications) and has already been installed in some thousand of computers working perfectly. Bug#487635: The perfomance degrading since lenny also affects to ltsp clients
I've tested it using both lenny and squeeze versions of libx11-6. Only downgrading to libx11-6 from etch allows some applications (as java apps) run in an usable way. Maybe this info can help: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxcb/+bug/277069 and http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17868 say that the problems appeared since libx11-6 was linked with xcb. This problem is very important for Debian Edu users. Up to now, the only workaround is downgrading to the etch library. Bug#478662: dhcp3: Missing slapd dependency in init.d LSB header
So, Petter, you're supposing that the ldap server and the dhcpd server are in the same machine. But that does not need to be the case so, what will happen after adding slapd to the "Should-Start" section, if slapd is not installed in the same machine? Regards. Bug#478875: local apps in ltsp 5
Package: ldm Version: 2.0.3-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch I attach you the files I've prepared to be able to use local apps in ltsp 5. I needed this feature for the schools of Extremadura. Maybe, you can add this info to the examples section of ldm. Steps to make it work (all of them inside the ltsp chroot): - Install sshfs package (from sid, as it has #430225 fixed) - useradd ltsp -d /var/tmp/ltsp -g fuse -u 65533 -G audio - cp *20-local-app /usr/share/ldm/rc.d/ - cp localapp /usr/bin/ - chmod +x /usr/bin/localapp To launch a local app (obviously, supposing you've already installed the application in the ltsp chroot) you have these options: a) In the ltsp server, at the logged user home, create a simple file called local.exec with a line with the command to be executed locally (between "" if the command has options). The file will be removed after the local app is launched, so you can start several of them. b) In the ltsp client, after the user has logged in, go to a tty, login as root and execute: localapp "application" c) A wrapper replacing the way the desktop file at the ltsp-server, that create the local.exec file for option a). I have not implemented this yet. Hope this helps Regards. José L. Bug#481210: Replace the use of the almost deprecated unionfs by aufs
Package: ltsp Version: 5.1.5-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch When using nbd instead of nfs, ltsp uses unionfs. Unionfs is being replaced by aufs in similar systems like live cds. It's better maintained upstream, more reliable[1] and less buggy, so even unionfs-modules Debian maintainer recommends its replacement[2]. I've tried it, and it works perfectly. Attached is the usual patch to change this behaviour. By the way, doing the patch I've checked that the files: client/initramfs/hooks/ltsp_client client/initramfs/init-bottom/unionfs_cow are not used in the packaging of ltsp, and totally useless ;-) Best regards. Bug#474172: upgrading gambas2 is impossible due to missing dependencies
Hi, this is not a gambas2 bug, but a kdelibs bug. Debian autobuilders are not able to install kdelibs4-dev in i386, so gambas2 arch dependant packages can not be built. As soon as kdelibs4-dev is instalable again, this will be automatically fixed. The kde bug is #472510 . "This" is the source file. Squeak people uses a Squeak image to store the virtual machine sources, as any other people can use svn o cvs. That message only means that the text file has been generated that way, but that file is the only and real source file to be compiled. > Also, > debian/copyright doesn't contain any hint how this file is generated. At debian/copyright you can read: " All other source files below platforms/unix in this distribution that do not contain individual copyright and license notices are: Copyright (C) 1996-2006 by Ian Piumarta and other authors/contributors listed in individual source files. Squeak is a very different piece of software from what people is used to see and I do know that its way of working is not easy to explain and understand. (i.e. that text file is the file actually used > for modifications?) > Yes, these are the needed steps: - Open a Squeak standard image (as an example you can use the etoys package in non-free, that image is olpc'ed (thought to teach and learn) so it's not very confortable to use it to program but you might use it. - Install inside this image, using the Squeak Package loader the package VMmaker. - Start VMMaker and config it telling the path to the sources you want to modify, for example the sources from the Debian package - Modify the sources inside Squeak to do any change - Use VMMaker to regenerate the sources. If you don't use vmmaker you can do it manually, but it's harder due to the size of the sources, and the need of manually modifying some of the code depending on the plugins you're going to compile. Smalltalkers use the Squeak Image to modify the code, usually the plugins [1]. Ian Piumarta, the main author of the unix virtual image port, does it manually using a standard text editor for part of the code, excepting the plugins. He uses to program them inside the image, as it's easier to debug them in real time. A latest note: when modifying the code inside the image instead of using a standard text editor, the code is modified in "Slang" (C with Smalltalk syntax), that's how smalltalkers do it to use the same Smalltalk class browser. It does not matter if you use a plain text editor or Squeak to modify the code: at the end of the process VMmaker makes the translation to plain C. Obviously VMmaker is free and its sources (in Smalltalk) are available inside the same Squeak image. Regards. José L. [1] In Squeak plugins are functions that're executed by the virtual machine instead of by the image. That's usually done by perfomance reasons as all the code inside the image is in Smalltalk, and some actions very OS related are faster in C (i.e. accesing the filesystem, keyboard or the sound card) signature.asc Description: Esta parte del mensaje está firmada digitalmente
