Bug#344506: ITP: vtiger-crm -- web-based customer relationShip management (CRM) software

2005-12-23 Thread Fathi Boudra
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Fathi Boudra <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: vtiger-crm
  Version : 4.2
  Upstream Author : vtiger.com
* URL : http://www.vtiger.com
* License : MPL
  Description : web-based customer relationShip management (CRM) software

 vtiger CRM is a web-based Open Source CRM software built over LAMP
 architecture (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and other open source
 projects mainly for small and medium businesses.

the first time, i would like to package SugarCRM but the SPL licence was a bit
problematic : http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2005/11/msg00112.html

And vtiger arrived, it's a fork of SugarCRM, MPL licensed (a bit better).

cheers,

Fathi

i have uploaded a corrected version on mentors.debian.net .

> Do you still need a sponsor?

yes. i registered on sponsors.debian.net and send a RFS on mentors mailing
list.

there's no need to fill a C++ transition bug, only a sponsor is needed :)

Bug#303794: ITA: log4cpp -- A C++ library for flexible logging

2005-09-12 Thread Fathi Boudra
> Hi.

hi

>
> 0) does it make sense to package 0.3.4b now when 0.3.5 is in
> preparation by upstream?

the package was orphaned and the current version in debian is 0.2.8
until 0.3.5 will be released, the current stable upstream is 0.3.4b
Instead of waiting for the next stable upstream release, i prefer to try to
provide an updated package, more up-to-date than the 0.2.8 version.

you're right, i have probably done a mistake in my packaging.
the noted differences are the config.guess and config.sub

> 2) debian/copyright does not mention the copyright itself (which is
> something that looks like "(c) name ".

this line isn't correct ? :
Copyright Holder: Bastiaan Bakker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

> 3) outdated Standards-Version.

yes, another mistake -> Standards-Version: 3.6.1
it'll be updated by 3.6.2

> 4) you didn't actually change the Maintainer line. (note that you
> don't have to adopt the package, you can leave it with the QA group,
> but that's suboptimal, and invalidates the changelog entry about

it'll be updated.

> 5) the Description shouldn't start with "A ".

noted.

> 6) wtf is that redirection for?
> g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../include -I../include -g -O2 -Wall
> -Wno-unused -pedantic -c FixedContextCategory.cpp -MT

from the upstream release. need to investigate.

> 7)
> E: liblog4cpp3-dev: old-fsf-address-in-copyright-file
> E: liblog4cpp3: old-fsf-address-in-copyright-file

it'll be corrected.

you're the first one to review my package. Thanks for your reports.
i'll correct my mistakes and can produce log4cpp 0.3.4b-2 or related to the
1st point, can upgrade to 0.3.5rc3. what do you think of it ?

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#325470: ITP: klibido -- usenet news binary grabber for KDE

2005-09-16 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

As i don't find any package available proposed to debian, i 've done the
package.

* Package name  : klibido
  Version   : 0.2.4.1
  Upstream Author   : Alessandro Bonometti <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL   : http://klibido.sourceforge.net
* License   : GPL
  Description : usenet news grabber for KDE

KLibido is a KDE program to download encoded articles from the usenet news
service, using the nntp protocol. It supports multiple servers, multiple
download threads per server, automatic joining and decoding of articles.

You can find the package on mentors.debian.net

there's also a RFP on this package (#325470). if someone could review it and
want to sponsor it, it could be fine.

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#402716: No entries appear in kcontrol or kinfocenter

2006-12-12 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

as you find http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=397057 , could
you provide output of ls -al /etc/xdg/menus

You must have in /etc/xdg/menus something like:
|-- applications-merged
|   `-- kde-essential.menu
|   `-- kde-multimedia-music.menu
|-- debian-menu.menu -> /var/lib/menu-xdg/menus/debian-menu.menu
|-- kde-applications.menu
|-- kde-information.menu
|-- kde-screensavers.menu
`-- kde-settings.menu

applications-merged directory should at least contain a file called
kde-essential.menu

the temporary workaround (create a symlink to applications-merged) must be
removed:
ln -s /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged /etc/xdg/menus/kde-applications-merged

so just delete the kde-applications-merged symlink if you've got it:
rm /etc/xdg/menus/kde-applications-merged

Bug#397177: Please compile kopete with jingle support (Jabber)

2006-11-06 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

as you can see on the debian changelog:
* Do not enable Jabber Jingle voice support for now. The reasons are:
   * It is a very experimental feature.
   * Internal libjingle does not compile.
   * It needs to be ported to use the external libjingle that is available in

Debian.

There's still some work to do, confirmed also by the TODO list on the page you
pointed.

Bug#398131: improve kmplayer dependencies

hi,

> Since kmplayer is only a front-end, it would be nice if we had the choice

> Something like libxine | libgstreamer | mplayer

kmplayer-common depends on libxine1 and libgstreamer0.10-0 because it contains
kxineplayer and kgstplayer. Anyway, you have the choice to use the engine you
want, just you use extra space (~7 Mo for libxine1 and ~3 Mo for
libgstreamer). That means, we must provide one package for each backend. I
don't think it's worth the effort, so i tag the bug as wontfix.

analyze and index files. It adds support for extraction of meta-information

Bug#405880: kde-guidance userconfig breaks login permissions

2007-01-08 Thread Fathi Boudra
severity 405880 important
retitle 405880 kde-guidance userconfig breaks login permissions
tags 405880 + patch

thanks

hi,

guidance reported bug, is a bug fixed in 0.6.3. i created a new user with
0.7.0 and permissions were set correctly. i was able to log into console
using the new user. Modestas Vainius suggests to change umask to reproduce
the bug. So umask 0066 breaks file creation, but it isn't guidance fault.
Current guidance (0.7.0) keep perms as they are. I wasn't able to reproduce it
until i changed my umask. i reduced severity to important as it isn't
completely guidance fault. Modestas provided a patch, submitted to upstream. i
expect to have a proper solution soon :)

it is /etc/kde3/kdmrc , GreetString value. Since kdm 3.5.5a.dfsg.1-3 , we have
added kdm customization support. We use /etc/kde3/kdmrc as a base file
but /var/run/kdm/kdmrc is really used. BTW, i tried to reproduce the bug,
changing default string "Welcome to Debian at %n" to "Welcome". I have always
the default string. It seems it doesn't use GreetString value but an
hardcoded one. i'll try to go further.

Bug#399900: kdelibs: kwindecoration missing

2006-11-22 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

kwindecoration module is installed by kwin. i installed these packages:
ii  kcontrol
ii  kdebase-bin
ii  kdebase-data
ii  kdelibs-data
ii  kdelibs4c2a
ii  kdm
ii  kicker
ii  kwin

i think you can reduce packages to install but you need at least kwin,
kdelibs4c2a and kdelibs-data. I don't think it's a bug of normal severity or
a packaging mistake. Maybe a wishlist, but i expect to install kwin to obtain
kwindecoration so i don't really see your point here.

was released, and 0.1.3 is coming. i helped on Ubuntu packaging and 0.1.2 was
uploaded yesterday for feisty. XSF svn for beryl stuff is outdated. Removing
mesa copy from beryl-core don't take some much time.

An upload of the upcoming 0.1.3 (or 0.1.2 if it is ready) to experimental
could be nice. it's seems that there's already some FTBFS on amd64 and ppc
arch. And finally, a cooperation between debian and ubuntu packagers will be
appreciated ;) there's so many individual people who provide beryl packages
in a poor state ...

from my point of view, cdbs or debhelper isn't the problem and mesa removing
too.

my 2c.

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#400320: ndiswrapper: regression since 1.23 to 1.28 update

2006-11-30 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

my z25_persistent-net.rules:
[...]
# USB device 457/163 (ndiswrapper)
SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", SYSFS{address}=="00:40:f4:f1:5e:f4",
SYSFS{type}=="1", NAME="wlan0"

SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="d8:f8:ba:d8:f8:ba",
ATTRS{type}=="1", NAME="wlan1"

i picked ndiswrapper 1.23 packages from snapshot.debian.net and replaced
current 1.28. My MAC address is properly detected and my wlan usb key works.
It seems to be a ndiswrapper regression. With version 1.28, MAC address isn't
detected properly.

Bug#396622: multimedia keys are not working

2006-11-02 Thread Fathi Boudra
tags 396622 pending

hi michael,

after some investigations, kubuntu_12_kmilo_actions.diff patch adds only some
new multimedia actions to the standard (generic) kmilo actions (volume
up/down and mute). It doesn't resolve completely the issue.

To resolves it completely, they have added to kdebase package:
* ubuntu.xmodmap (laptop keycode -> xkeysym mapping)
* 80ubuntu-xmodmap (Xsession startup script to laptop keycode -> xkeysyms
mapping)
* kubuntu_72_kxkb_xmodmap.diff (patch to reload laptop xmodmap on
keyboard layout switch, after setxkbmap)

The spec. behind these changes can be found at:
https://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuLaptopButtons

I found on kmilo homepage (as kmilo lacks of documentation):
> KMilo Generic plugin
>
> In the KDE CVS version there is also a generic plugin for all keyboards
> with volume up/down keys acknowledged by X/KDE by default. Just start the X
> program xev and press your laptop's vol up/down keys to check. If it prints
> out some meaningful information, you can use it to setup KDE to take care
> of these and connect them to RaiseVolume, etc.
>
> If it does not work out of the box, your X keybindings have to set up.
> Usually, you do this in ~/.Xmodmap Example:
> keycode 129 = XF86AudioMedia
> keycode 144 = XF86AudioPrev
> keycode 153 = XF86AudioNext
> keycode 160 = XF86AudioMute
> keycode 161 = XF86Calculator
> keycode 162 = XF86AudioPause
> keycode 164 = XF86AudioStop
> keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
> keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
> keycode 223 = XF86Standby
>
> This assigns e.g. keycode 160 to XF86AudioMute which triggers mute in the
> kmilo generic plugin. How to find out? start xev, move your mouse into the
> window and press the keys. .Xmodmap is read every time you start X. Use
> "xmodmap .Xmodmap" to test your configuration file.

For more informations, i asked to Jonathan Riddell why the patch wasn't
applied upstream:
> suse peoples say it's better to do that in khotkeys and since lubos lunak
> from suse wrote khotkeys I'm assuming he knows best.

At least, we can add kmilo patch until khotkeys changes. I'm not sure kdebase
changes will be merged, we'll see with other debian kde team peoples think
about it.

Bug#410124: kdmtheme: Message to say that desktop base overload it is unclear

2007-02-08 Thread Fathi Boudra
severity 410124 wishlist

thanks

hi,

> When I click in use KDM Theme in the configuration panel a warning popup
> says that it may be not work and to take a look in
> /usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian. There's no mention of desktop-base in it
> neither to the file /etc/default/kdm.d/10_desktop-base.

The exact message is "Override files found, so this theming will not have
effect. Please see /usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian for more information"

kdm README.Debian mentions:
You just need to create a file with overridden value(s) and put it in
kdm override directory (default is /etc/default/kdm.d).

There's no mention of desktop-base and /etc/default/kdm.d/10_desktop-base
because the KDM overrides are not specific to them. The purpose of this
change is a generic way to customize kdm for Debian and Custom Debian
Distribution (debian-edu, etc ...)

I'm open for suggestion to improve the popup message.

> I don't know if the best place to talk about this is in
> /usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian
> or in
> /usr/share/doc/kdmtheme/README.Debian

I can introduce a note in /usr/share/doc/kdmtheme/README.Debian, but i don't
see the point as kdmtheme depends on kdm and we suggest to look
at /usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian.

> I file this bug in kdmtheme, but it can be reported too for gdm and xfce4.

?? i don't understand. It is related to kdm theme override, so packages
related to kdm. I don't see where gdm or xfce4 are involved.

It must be uploded to unstable.

> I see there has also been further discussion in the bug log about whether
> disabling the KDE override is the appropriate fix. Is this debate still
> ongoing?

The debate is finished. Changes were done in kdebase 3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6 to fix
the issue: if kdm theme is modified, we don't use overrides.
We don't need to disable anymore KDM override file provided in desktop-base by
default.

> Is there any code in progress to support this alternate solution
> on an etch timescale?

Remaining issue is the position of the swirl on the default wallpaper... not a
critical issue, i agree.

we know that current plugins (kfile and libextractor) cause segfault. By

Bug#407930: desktop-base 4.0.0 MIGRATED to testing

2007-01-30 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi michael,

debian-blueish-wallpaper r42 is the original.
My changes r56 is just width/height adjustment -> 1024x768 to 1600x1200
to have the swirl centered. My changes r58 is svg source cleanup so the file
is much more smaller:
* r56 size : 108.9 kb
* r58 size : 18.3 kb

it was too nice to reduce the file by a factor 6 ... i must have lost some
properties between r56 and r58.

i reverted the wallpaper to r56 in svn to see if it resolves the issue.

Bug#384353: kdm locks keyboard, keeping user from typing username/password

2006-08-23 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

i'm not sure it's caused by kdm. Have you updated recently your system ?
strangely you've got on your system:
ii  libx11-6  6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 li
ii  libxau6   1:1.0.0-3
ii  libxdmcp6 1:1.0.0-4
ii  libxtst6  1:1.0.1-5
ii  xbase-clients 1:7.1.ds-2

me:
libx11-6 1.0.0-8
libxau6  1.0.0-4
libxdmcp61.0.0-4
libxtst6 1.0.1-5
xbase-clients7.1.ds-3

have you seen the thread on debian-devel about:
Incorrect version of xserver-xorg in unstable

xorg has been uploaded in unstable instead experimental by mistake.
Maybe you are affected by this mistake.

Bug#388170: ripit poiicy violation

2006-09-18 Thread Fathi Boudra
Package: ripit
Version: 3.5.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: policy violation

hi,

there's a policy violation on your package.

according to debian policy section 2.2.1:
"must not require a package outside of main for compilation or execution
(thus, the package must not declare a "Depends", "Recommends",
or "Build-Depends" relationship on a non-main package)"

and ripit depends:
Depends: libwww-perl, libcddb-get-perl, cdparanoia | cdda2wav, vorbis-tools
(>= 1.0beta4-1) | lame | flac | bladeenc | faac

At least, lame/bladeenc/faac must be removed from depends.

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#388432: more infos

2006-09-20 Thread Fathi Boudra
florent bayle points me to lintian (checks/version-substvars.desc):

Tag: not-binnmuable-all-depends-any
Type: warning
Info: The package is not safely binNMUable because an arch:all package
 depends on an arch:any package with a strict (= ${Source-Version}), or
 similar, relationship.
 .
 It is not possible for arch:all packages to depend so strictly on
 arch:any packages while having the package binNMUable, so please use
 one of these, whichever is more appropriate:
 .
   Depends: arch_any (>= ${source:Version})
   Depends: arch_any (>= ${source:Version}), arch_any (<<
${source:Version}.1~)

So it's maybe a lintian bug (i'm not sure).

Bug#381971: kmplayer should recommend mplayer

2006-08-08 Thread Fathi Boudra
severity 381971 wishlist

thanks

hi,

> since kmplayer relies upon mplayer for dvd, wmv, etc support,

wrong, kmplayer on debian relies upon xine backend.
please see http://bugs.debian.org/360092 for the background.

> mplayer should be among the suggests or the recommends for kmplayer so that
> it will be installed if the user always installs recommends/suggests and
> has debian-multimedia.org as an apt source.

See http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-sections:

> 2.2.1 The main category
> Every package in main must comply with the DFSG (Debian Free Software
> Guidelines). In addition, the packages in main
> must not require a package outside of main for compilation or execution
> (thus, the package must not declare a "Depends", "Recommends", or
> "Build-Depends" relationship on a non-main package), must not be so buggy
> that we refuse to support them, and
> must meet all policy requirements presented in this manual.

Eventually, i can add a Suggests but not a Recommends, but using Suggests
doesn't resolve the problem because aptitude installs Recommends packages and
not Suggests. So i'm waiting for you feedback before tag your bug report
wontfix or close it.

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#394192: Security: integer overflow in pixmap handling (CVE-2006-4811)

2006-10-20 Thread Fathi Boudra
Trolltech today announced the release of Qt 3.3.7, 4.1.5 and 4.2.1 - patch
releases that incorporate a fix for a security issue identified in the Qt 3.x
and Qt 4.x series. While no exploits for this security issue are currently
known, it is recommended that Qt users upgrade to these latest versions.

A security flaw was recently discovered in the way Qt 3.x and 4.x handles
pixmap images. This issue can occur only when transforming specially
prepared images from untrusted sources. Qt 3.3.7, as well as Qt 4.1.5 and
4.2.1 correct this flaw.
