Bug#342341: eclipse: too many unneeded dependencies

I don't know if these binaries are policy or just a help, but perhaps, in deed, it would allow to remove some dependencies (which, I think, is always good, independent of all belief wars). Bug#337141: freemind: Does not escape file names properly when launching Mozilla
Hi, thanks for the feedback, you're right, there is a bug. The last line, calling java with freemind.jar, is missing double quotes around the $@ parameter. This is fixed in the next version of FreeMind (0.8.0), which is not yet in Debian for different dependency reasons. You can get the next version from freemind.sf.net (look at release notes of the freemind-deb package), or you can correct the script yourself (corrected version attached), I don't plan an update right now. Hope this is OK, Eric > Package: freemind > Version: 0.7.1-6 > Severity: normal > > -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- > Hash: SHA1 > > When opening a file whose name contains spaces from the file mode, Mozilla > complains that it can't open the file and gives the name up to the space, > so I assume the command-line arguments are not properly formatted. -- Eric de France, d'Allemagne et de Navarre freemind.sh Description: Bourne shell script

I posted on the mailling list debian-mentors and debian-devel-french and I didn't receive any answer. I did two packages for hindent, the first hindent_1.1.2-6 don't modify much the package only the control file (new maintener and Standards-version 3.6.2) and add a translation of the man page. The second hindent_1.1.2-7 changes the script hindent : # Add the understand of HTML 4.1 nestable tags # Ignore stuff between ... # No appearance of extra blank line with the options -f and -s # Support a nesting tag on multiple lines (not closed on that line) The packages are available at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/eric-m/hindent/ So if you want become my sponsor for this package, I accept with pleasure:-) Best regards, Eric

Hello Andrea, well, in seems there is a design flaw in scsitools-pre.sh because it guesses /proc is not already mounted, which is wrong in sarge. I guess that now /proc is mounted really early, scsitools does not need to mount/umount it. However I don't have spare time to work on it until next week, so you can do NMU if you want it to be fixed immediately. Bug#415713: bad mmap64 implementation in esddsp
Subject: bad mmap64 implementation in esddsp Package: esound Version: 0.2.36-3 Severity: important Hello, after few hours of investigation to discover why firefox/iceweasel get a SIGBUS when I want to save an image, I hope I found the primary cause of this problem. It is due to an implementation bug in mmap64 which is overriden in libesddsp.so. In effect, mmap64 uses a 64 bits offset (off64_t). However, wrap_mmap declares a 32 bits one (off_t), at least on 32 bits OS. Therefore, when calling original mmap64, 32 bits from offset are taken randomly from stack which could lead to mapping a non existent part of a file in memory thus signaling a Bus Error when further trying to access to this mapped memory! The patch attached work at least on my system (Linux x86 32 bits) but need more testing on other arches (especially 64 bits ones). I also applied mutex patch from Ubuntu 0.2.36-3ubuntu2: http://www.no-name-yet.com/patches/esound.esddsp-crash.patch . I guess #350428, #348938 and #347751 could be related to this bug. Surely some bugs from iceweasel package are also related to this one. I need to reboot to get X working again. This bug seems to be the same as #60288 in Ubuntu. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/60288 . A patch is provided there. It also might be already fixed upstream (in Xorg 7.2 as stated in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8537 ). I applied the patch provided in Ubuntu BTS then rebuilt and installed xserver-xorg which now seems to work. No more signal 11 when I restart X. So, when would you plan to upgrade to 7.2 in testing? Hello Julien, from what I read at different places, I thought this bug were related to a call to FontFileCompleteXLFD using, somewhere deep into its call tree, an uninitialized, or not fully initialized, DRIScreenPrivPtr. Even in my stacktrace the problem is not shown into the dri library itself but, in effect, some changes to the content of the structure pointed to by this DRIScreenPrivPtr could lead to memory corruption, and such memory corruption could trigger a segfault later on. Sorry if I did it wrong. I will open a new bug if you'd rather like. Tell me. > > So, when would you plan to upgrade to 7.2 in testing? > > > Never. Etch will release with xserver 1.1, lenny will have xserver 1.3 > when etch is released. Ok, so could you apply the patch provided by Ubuntu please? It's rather annoying to have to reboot after each logout to get X working again (and I did not stressed X to discover all other usecases related to this bug). All those from debian network are currently down, therefore it is hard for me to investigate. SIGBUS is raised on non aligned access. But I don't know why it fails here. Code just above this line to set up 'op' pointer seems to be ok: char buf2[4096]; struct openpromio *op = (struct openpromio *)buf2; op is an alias to buf2. I guess buf2 is aligned on a 32-bits boundary since it is allocated on stack and is a multiple of 4 bytes. Therefore I cannot figure out what fails. Did you recompile sparc-utils package? What your asm/openpromio.h header contains about openpromio struct definition? The last I can find is from 2.6.17 kernel: struct openpromio { u_int oprom_size; /* Actual size of the oprom_array. */ charoprom_array[1]; /* Holds property names and values. */ }; Could you print out addresses of 'op' pointer and op->oprom_array field under gdb to see whether they are 32-bits aligned or not? Bug#388315: eeprom SIGBUS

Hello Jurij, I don't understand why 'buf2' is not aligned on a 4-bytes boundary since it is the first data allocated on stack in 'print_all_options' subroutine and, as far as I know, stack frames are 4-bytes (maybe 8-bytes on sparc64) aligned and local variables are allocated on stack next to stack frame. Or is it a matter of sparc64 which needs pointers to be 8-bytes aligned but 'buf2' is only 4-bytes aligned? You then need to declare 'buf2' as 'long long int[512]' (or int64_t[512]). > Eric, if you don't have access to a sparc workstation, perhaps you > would be willing to accept me as a comaintainer? Feel free to update sparc-utils. Your welcome :) Is there something I must do on my own to give you comaintainer power? Best regards, Eric. PS: line 57 of eeprom.c contains a similar definition of a 'buf' global variable which could be fixed in the same way. -- Eric Delaunay | Le travail est trop sérieux pour le confier [EMAIL PROTECTED] | à ceux qui veulent se tuer avec.Jissey.

Reporting a bug in linux kernel. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Used Gtk interface when prompted to choose, went through most of the bug reporting until it told me it was gathering system information. * What was the outcome of this action? A prompt showed up in the terminal window asking whether it should collect network settings. Bug#720084: linux-image-3.10-2-amd64: SD card reader RTS5139 does not detect cards unless reloaded with card in
Package: src:linux Version: 3.10.5-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Was trying to use SD card reader. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Put SD card reader in SD card slot and tried to read SD card. * What was the outcome of this action? dmesg did not indicate anything related to the card when I insert it, /dev/sdb (the block file for the card reader) did not change (i.e. /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdb2, etc. did not get added to /dev). * What outcome did you expect instead? In Wheezy, /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdb2 would be added to /dev. I checked the SD card with a different operating system on the same computer to ensure that it was properly partitioned and the SD card reader hardware was working. I also tried compiling the kernel module from source and installing it myself, but this would only allow me to read the card if it was already inserted when I load/reload the module. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 3.10-2-amd64 (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.7.3 (Debian 4.7.3-6) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.10.5-1 (2013-08-07) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.10-2-amd64 root=UUID=88bbe60a-cb47-43ce-b171-2140924d0fcd ro selinux=1 security=selinux quiet ** Tainted: CO (5120) * Module from drivers/staging has been loaded. * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. ** Kernel log: [9.144091] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver [9.144093] ACPI Warning: 0x0500-0x052f SystemIO conflicts with Region \GPIO 1 (20130328/utaddress-251) [9.144100] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver [9.144103] lpc_ich: Resource conflict(s) found affecting gpio_ich [9.219304] ACPI: Requesting acpi_cpufreq [9.401090] iTCO_vendor_support: vendor-support=0 [9.409327] ACPI Warning: 0xefa0-0xefbf SystemIO conflicts with Region \_SB_.PCI0.SBUS.SMBI 1 (20130328/utaddress-251) [9.409336] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver [9.423606] mei_me :00:16.0: setting latency timer to 64 [9.423662] mei_me :00:16.0: irq 42 for MSI/MSI-X [9.432701] media: Linux media interface: v0.10 [9.447732] Linux video capture interface: v2.00 [9.530994] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 [9.609850] [drm] Memory usable by graphics device = 2048M [9.609861] i915 :00:02.0: setting latency timer to 64 [9.628873] i915 :00:02.0: irq 43 for MSI/MSI-X [9.628886] [drm] Supports vblank timestamp caching Rev 1 (10.10.2010). Aye, stupid me: the maintainer for VDR packages is the same on the third-party source (http://www.e-tobi.net/) and he meant that he didn't have an issue getting bug reports through Debian, but of course it can't work if the package doesn't exist at all in Debian... Bug#506227: freemind: Freemind crashes when opening mindmap file
reassign 506227 gij retitle 506227 GIJ crashes on FreeMind opening mindmap thanks What the submitter describes is a crash of the VM, not of FreeMind. To be honest, FreeMind is known to not work well with GIJ, OpenJDK or Sun's Java is the recommended VM to use (the Java policy doesn't authorize for proper limitation), but a crash is quite of an overreaction ;-) and might point out to another issue.
