Sorry, for the very late reply. I still didn't pack the new version,
because since version 4 the Standalone GUI is missing, and they will
bring it back in the next versions. They rewrite the code completely it
seems.

If anybody else wants to package the new version without this standalone
gui, feel free to do so, but i'll still wait for a while for a new
version with the new gui.

Bug#84756: Shipping Clerk - flexible time work-at-home opening

2007-09-30 Thread Dennis

Our company is looking for energetic and accountable individuals to occupy
Shipping Clerk positions throughout the USA. These vacancies are entirely
home-based and do not require any travel or relocation. They are also
suitable for students and senior citizens who are able to dedicate up to
three business hours per day to their duties. No special qualifications are
required, although previous shipping or customer service experience is a
plus. We are an international company providing mail/internet order
opportunities for a global clientele since 1997. We are based in Russia, and
also have offices in Latvia and Kazakhstan. Our business provides
online/Online Order facilities for those who are unable to benefit from the
convenience of e-commerce due to lack of a banking relationship with an
internationally recognized bank or because major online vendors will not
ship to their location. We have domestic purchasing agents who place the
orders on behalf of our clients, and the goods are then shipped to the local
shipping clerks for further sorting and international shipment. We also
provide escrow services for high amount and/or web auction orders, and offer
assistance with customs clearance, if required. Currently, we are looking
for individuals to fill in the positions of shipping clerks throughout the
USA. Your duties will include receiving, sorting, repackaging and re-sending
the orders made on behalf of our clients using the pre-paid USPS shipping
labels that you will receive via email. You will be paid $20 for each parcel
that you ship, plus $5 for each order that you will need to re-sort or
re-package. We will also cover any other authorized expense, such as extra
insurance or shipping materials. Your remuneration will be remitted to you
via Western Union twice a month. You can expect to handle 5-15 incoming
packages weekly, following a 2 week probation period. You can perform your
duties from the convenience of your home. You will generally be re-shipping
the orders on same day or next day basis, so you will not need to sacrifice
your home space to storage. You will only be receiving orders placed with
reputable online vendors and delivered by major courier services, such as
FedEx and UPS, who pay great attention to ensuring that they are not
involved into trafficking any illegal substances or hazardous materials.
Thus, there will be no risk on your end. We also encourage you to open and
inspect each package that you receive to ensure the legitimacy and safety of
itsâ content. In order to fill the shipping clerk position, you need to be
aged 18 and above, have a permanent address where you are available on a
regular basis and also have access to phone and email. In order to ensure
that you can be entrusted the client merchandise, we will need to verify
your identity and confirm that you do not have any previous criminal
convictions. To apply for this position and for more information on our
company, please fax your resume and (optionally) cover letter to: (309)

2020-04-16 Thread Dennis
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
Since today's dist-upgrade Gnome does not start to lock screen and crashes
before. Graphical error message is displayed.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Checked journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell(-session) logs for gnome realted
issues: Since the update I see a assertion failed for
"gnome_bg_slide_show_set_property" in "gnome-bg-slide_show.c:83"
   g_once_init_leave: assertion: 'result!=0' failed
Can not register existing type 'GnomeBGSlideShow'

   * What was the outcome of this action?
I have not taken any action yet as I currently don't exactly know why this
issue occures

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Bug#292371: Debuglevel is not 0 as stated in smbclient(1)

2005-01-26 Thread Dennis Jørgensen
Package: smbclient
Version: 3.0.10-1
Severity: normal

smbclient(1) states:

-d|--debug=debuglevel
debuglevel is an integer from 0 to 10. The default value if this
parameter is not specified is zero.

So these commands should have had the same output (none):

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ smbclient //newton/koda "" -c "prompt; mget GRAM1204.LYN"
getting file \GRAM1204.LYN of size 175248 as GRAM1204.LYN (-0.0 kb/s) (average
0.0 kb/s)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ smbclient //newton/koda "" -d0 -c "prompt; mget
GRAM1204.LYN"
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

The change from what is in the man-page came around nov. 2004, earlier
versions of smbclient did have -d0 as default. So I think 3.0.8-1
introduced it, I was quite busy back then (hence the late bug
submission, sorry), so I could be a bit off.

I use something like the above command to back up a large share, so
this caused quite a lot of mail from cron. Also, the above output
reproduces bug #189637, I'll try and send some info to that bug also.

Regards

  Dennis Jørgensen

Bug#189637: smbclient reports -0.0 kb/sec and average 0.0 kb/s during mget

2005-01-26 Thread Dennis Jørgensen
I can reproduce this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ smbclient //newton/koda "" -c "prompt; mget GRAM1204.LYN"
getting file \GRAM1204.LYN of size 175248 as GRAM1204.LYN (-0.0 kb/s) (average
0.0 kb/s)

It happens with all files I've tried, and also when running smbclient
interactively. Largest file I've tried was ~2MB (haven't found a larger
file to test with yet).

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache policy smbclient
smbclient:
  Installed: 3.0.10-1

Newton is running Windows 95, srv1 is running sarge. I think newton has
a 10Mbps card, but I'm not sure, so it could be there's a 100Mbps
connection.

It doesn't happen when connecting from srv1 to other machines (running
sarge or windows XP) on the same network. It does happen on all sarge
machines connecting to newton.

Regards.

I was experiencing the same problem with postfix-tls from Sarge
here.

I can confirm that after removing /usr/lib/sasl2/libdigestmd5.so.*
the smtp process will no longer segfault.

Maybe this bug should be filed against libsasl2-modules instead?

Bug#305391: gnutls10 cannot be downloaded

2005-04-19 Thread Dennis Grevenstein
Package: libgnutls10
Version: 1.0.4-8

the package gnutls10 cannot be downloaded, so installing
Debian fails completely. platform is testing on a powermac.
As it's part of the base system it really breaks the whole
installation process.
Seems like there is an error in the Packages file.
It says that gnutls10 can be found in pool/main/g/gnutls11
which is wrong of course. It should be pool/main/g/gnutls10.
Unfortunatly the Debian installer won't let me fix it
myself.

Bug#305413: libfreetype6: Many packages which use freetype now segfault

2005-04-19 Thread Dennis Boone
Package: libfreetype6
Version: 2.1.7-2.3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

A number of packages which were previously working now segfault.
The ones I've found so far include Mozilla and Firefox downloaded
from mozilla.org, the Firefox installer from the same source, gaim,
xchat and gnumeric. Things which continue to work include xv, xterm,
xconsole. The top section of a traceback of an xchat coredump follows.
Tracebacks of coredumps from other programs with the same issue look
much the same in the top 4+ lines.

I'm having trouble tracking this down, so it's entirely possible I'm
blaming the wrong package.

Changing
if(opt_maildir == 1) {
to
if(opt_maildir == 1 && opt_m) {

will do the trick for -M -k. Do you have any notes on that?

OK, but these options prove handy in scripts that lock the screen in

-throttle&&xscreensaver-command -lock)

Is there another way to accomplish this via script?

On other Computers running Debian unstable the problem occurs not, so
I think you are right, but how can I see which font is picked from
Helvetica, Arial or sans-serif?

Reconfiguring fontconfig gave no better result. My fonts still look not
good (pixely) and the rendering bug ist still there.

After I deleted ".fonts/", ".fonts.cache-1" and ".fonts.conf" in my
homedirectory the problem was resolved.

Thank you for your help!

Bug#286255: This works fine for me

2005-07-25 Thread Dennis Stampfer
Hey!

In my ssmtp configuration with AuthUser, AuthPass and AuthMethod not
set. This works fine for me with 2.61-2 - I don't know why it doesn't
work with 2.61-1 as Michelle reported.

Is the changelog correct which mentions the only difference between -1
and -2 is the new email address?

Bug#327423: libogre-dev should at least include ExampleApplication.h

Package: ogre
Severity: wishlist

Since all the tutorials in the OGRE Wiki require ExampleApplication.* and
other files, it would be nice if there was a libogre-samples package that
includes these files. Having to download 16MB just to get a few files is
suboptimal.

Bug#333854: pg_group file update problems

2005-10-13 Thread Dennis Vshivkov
Package: postgresql-8.0
Version: 8.0.3-13
Severity: important
Tags: patch, upstream

Here's the problem:

db=# CREATE GROUP g1;
CREATE GROUP
db=# CREATE USER u1 IN GROUP g1;(1)
CREATE USER

# cat /var/lib/postgresql/8.0/main/global/pg_group
#

The file gets rewritten, but the group `g1' line does not get
added to the file. Continue:

db=# CREATE USER u2 IN GROUP g1;(2)
CREATE USER

# cat /var/lib/postgresql/8.0/main/global/pg_group
"g1""u1"
#

Now the line is there, but it lacks the latest member. Consider
this also:

db=# ALTER USER u2 RENAME TO u3;(3)
ALTER USER

# cat /var/lib/postgresql/8.0/main/global/pg_group
"g1""u1" "u2"
#

The problem is that the code that updates pg_group file resolves
group membership through the system user catalogue cache. The
file update happens shortly before the commit, but the caches
only see updates after the commit. Because of this, new users
or changes in users' names often do not make it to pg_group.
That leads to mysterious authentication failures subsequently.
The problem can also have security implications for certain
pg_hba.conf arrangements.

The attached `98-6-pg_group-stale-data-fix.patch' makes the code
in question access the system user table directly and thus fixes
the cases (1) and (2), however (3) is doubly ill: the user
renaming code does not even trigger a pg_group file update.
Hence the other patch, `98-5-rename-user-update-pg_group.patch'.

A byproduct of the main fix is removal of an unlikely system
cache reference leak which happens if a group member name
contains a newline.

The problems were found and the fixes were done for PostgreSQL
8.0.3 release. The flaws seem intact in 8.0.4 source code, too.

Hope this helps.

Bug#321023: gcc-4.0 segfaults when compiling ltdl.c with -O

2005-08-02 Thread Dennis Brakhane

Subject: gcc-4.0 segfaults when compiling libtool's ltdl.c with -O
Package: gcc-4.0
Version: 4.0.1-3
Severity: important

gcc 4.0 segfaults when compiling ltdl.c with optimizations turned

Bug#367621: samba: Panic or segfault in Samba

2007-01-22 Thread Chris Dennis
Package: samba
Version: 3.0.23d-4
Followup-For: Bug #367621

Samba stops soon after being restarted -- and has done for a few weeks,
despite ugrading to 3.0.23d-4. It sends me the following email (I've
installed samba-dbg as requested):

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 7659 (/usr/sbin/smbd).

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows
the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log
files may contain additional information about the problem.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the
samba-dbg package, which contains the debugging symbols for the Samba
binaries. Then submit the provided information as a bug report to
Debian. For information about the procedure for submitting bug reports,
please see http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting or the reportbug(1)
manual page.

Bug#405597: cobc fails with internal compiler error

2007-01-04 Thread Dennis Boone
Package: open-cobol
Version: 0.32-3

Attempting to compile a simple test program produces an internal
compiler error. I've run this through one or two other compilers
without problems. Best I can tell, the syntax is all legal.
I've commented out a few non-essential bits, but it doesn't seem to
make any difference. I also tried making the records fixed instead
of varying length, to no avail.

it depends on apache2 but it will install apache-common. so it creates
the following directories:

  /etc/apache/conf.d/php4.conf
  /etc/apache/conf.d/phppgadmin -> /etc/phppgadmin/apache.conf

by the way, i am using libapache2-mod-php5 and phppgadmin installs
libapache-mod-php4. maybe this is an issue with the dependencies.

with kindly regards

I finally found out what the problem was. I tried booting the potato

cdrom. It's now at 1.30 and it boots the 3.1r3 netinst.iso without
problems.

Bug#295395: octave-forge: Replacing a submatrix of a sparse matrix results in a full matrix

2005-02-15 Thread Dennis Jørgensen
Package: octave-forge
Version: 2004.11.16-3
Severity: normal

With the following commands, I would have expected matrix A to
stay sparse:

octave:1> A = sparse(4,4);
octave:2> A([1 2 4],[1 2 4]) = sprand(3,3,0.2);
octave:3> issparse(A)
ans = 0

Same commands in Matlab:

>> A = sparse(4,4);
>> A([1 2 4],[1 2 4]) = sprand(3,3,0.2);
>> issparse(A)

ans =

 1

Replacing sprand() with something returning a full matrix yields
the same results: sparse 'A' in Matlab, full in Octave.

Bug#297028: octave-forge: Missing depends on grace, switching back to gnuplot hard

2005-02-26 Thread Dennis Jørgensen
Package: octave-forge
Version: 2004.11.16-5
Severity: important

The new octave-forge made grace the default for plotting, without
depending on it, which octave doesn't like at all:

octave:1> x=linspace(-pi,pi,100);
octave:2> plot(x,sin(x))
grplot: Cannot start xmgrace

grplot:No grace subprocess
Segmentation fault

Installing grace fixes plotting of a single plot, but "hold on" doesn't work.
Installing grace6 just gives blank plots.

(Results based on very little testing)

Turning of grace seems hard:

octave:1> toggle_grace_use
error: /usr/share/octave/2.1.65/site/octave-forge-alternatives/m/graceplot: No
such file or directory
error: near line 55 of file
`/usr/share/octave/site/m/octave-forge/graceplot/toggle_grace_use.m'

Looking at the code of toggle_grace_use made me aware of grace_octave_path:

octave:1>
grace_octave_path('/usr/share/octave/site/m/octave-forge/graceplot/');octave:2>
toggle_grace_use
Use Grace: off
octave:3>

But if I plot something after this, grace still comes up. I don't
know if this is because I'm using grace_octave_path in the wrong
way, but then I guess toggle_grace_use should have failed again.

  Dennis Jørgensen

Bug#410766: grace6: Broken or incomplete installation, again

2007-03-23 Thread Dennis Boone
There's another way to reproduce this, and I just found it the hard way.
Something somewhere in the inscrutable defoma mess, or in grace, expects
that /usr/lib/X11/fonts is a symlink pointing into /usr/share/fonts. If
you have a system that predates this layout, you may well have an actual
directory full of fonts there. Obviously some X11 upgrade should have
taken care of this long ago, but failed to.

Bug#414193: apache2-common: searching ALL files in /etc/apache2 for PidFile

2007-03-09 Thread Dennis Director
Package: apache2-common
Severity: important

In /etc/init.d/apache2, when a reload is requested (as is the case from
the package manager during upgrades ) ALL files in /etc/apache2 are
greped for a line begining with "^PidFile". If there was some file with
a name like config.old that had a line that began with PidFile, it would
be used.

More importantly, some servers have lots of BIG log file in
/etc/apache2/logs, left over from an earlier standard, and all of those
log files are searched entirely for lines begining with PidFile.

This takes A VERY LONG TIME, and caused great anxiety to the poor
sysadmin running a live server and waiting to breath again when the
server has successfully restarted.

Here's where the problem lies: the postinst, in sub move_p().
The Perl script does hops and skips and figures out intended and
existing targets for the symlinks ($target and $vmlinuz_target,
accordingly), and if they compare equal, outputs the message
above, doing nothing else. Debugging reveals that they do
compare equal because they are both undefined/empty.

Here's how $target gets empty:

my $target = `readlink -q "${realimageloc}${kimage-$version}"`;

At the very least, interpolation of $kimage and $version is
broken. Also, since the intended pathname is a real file and
not a symlink, readlink(1) returns an empty string.

That alone wouldn't be enough, here's how $vmlinuz_target gets
the same:

my $vmlinuz_target = readlink "$kimage";
...
$vmlinuz_target = `readlink -q $vmlinuz_target`;

The $kimage link target is resolved as a symlink once again,
which fails, as it's a real file too. The whole need for doing
that second resolution, as well as mixing readlink() and
`readlink` in the same code is not clear.

I had to fix the links by hand to move on, but the problem has
to be addressed properly.

Regards,

Bug#385630: libsundials-serial-dev: missing header and libraries

2006-09-01 Thread Dennis Furey
Package: libsundials-serial-dev
Version: 2.2.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The libsundials-nvecserial shared and static library files, and the
header file nvector_serial.h are missing, making it unusable for
development in C due to unresolved symbols (e.g., N_VNew_Serial,
etc.).

A cursory investigation has shown that the required files are
generated from the source package when the upstream build procedure is
followed, but don't appear under debian/tmp/ when the package is built
with dpkg-buildpackage. I'm unable to propose a patch.

On a possibly related note, linking with kinsol gives the strange
warning,

libtool: link: warning: library
`/usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.1.2/../../../
/libsundials_kinsol.la' was moved.

which might have something to do with the part in
libsundials_kinsol.la that says

# Directory that this library needs to be installed in:
libdir='/root/sundials/sundials/debian/tmp/usr/lib'

instead of saying /usr/lib/sundials.

Bug#385632: minpack-dev: manpage typo

2006-09-01 Thread Dennis Furey
Package: minpack-dev
Version: 19961126-8
Severity: minor

The man page for lmstr_ is inconsistent with the prototype
in minpack.h. The man page says

void lmstr_ ( void (*fcn)( int *m, int *n, double *x, double *fvec,
  double *fjrow, int *iflag),
int *m, int *n, double *x, double *fvec, double *fjac,

double *ftol, double *xtol, double *gtol, int *maxfev,
double *epsfcn, double *diag, int *mode, double *factor,
  int *nprint,
int *info, int *nfev, double *fjac,
int *ldfjac, int *ipvt, double *qtf,
  double *wa1, double *wa2, double *wa3, double *wa4 );

with some parameters repeated, but the header file says

void lmstr_ ( void (*fcn)(int *m, int *n, double *x, double *fvec,
double *fjrow, int *iflag ), int *m,
int *n, double *x, double *fvec, double *fjec,
int *ldfjac, double *ftol, double *xtol, double *gtol,
int *maxfev, double *diag, int *mode, double *factor,
int *nprint, int *info, int *nfev, int *njev, int *ipvt,
double *qtf, double *wa1, double *wa2, double *wa3,
  double *wa4 );

Although it's of no consequence, fjec is called fjac in
minpack-documentation.txt.gz.

P.S. Did you receive my patch to make PCx build a shared (.so)
library?

Bug#354544: Recovering from this problem

2006-08-20 Thread Dennis Boone
Since apt-get will _not_, contrary to the previous comments on this
bug, install mysql-server-4.1 (it insists on choosing the newer 5.0),
this bug can be a serious problem.

The following ugly hack may help rescue some people:

Copy the directory containing the offending database
(e.g. /var/lib/mysql/oldtabletypedb) into /var/lib/mysql on another
host which is running an older version of mysql.

Set ownership and permissions on the copied database appropriately.

On the other host, start the client:

mysql oldtabletypedb

For each table in the database, do this command to convert the
ISAM format to MyISAM:

alter table  type=myisam;

Exit the client.

Copy the directory back to the original host.

Fix up ownership and permissions on the original host.

Complete the 5.0 upgrade.

Bug#387158: cryptsetup: problem configuring encrypted swap

2006-09-12 Thread Dennis Furey
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.0.4~rc2-1
Severity: minor

The instructions in CryptoSwap.Howto don't work as written because
/etc/init.d/cryptdisks considers an existing unencrypted swap
partition to be a valid filesystem and refuses to overwrite it. A
workaround is to create it manually using cryptsetup and mkswap. The
check needs to be smarter or the instructions amended.

Bug#388496: php4: cannot build package from source

2006-09-20 Thread Dennis Jacobfeuerborn
Package: php4
Version: 4:4.4.2-1.1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

I'm trying to rebuild the php4 package however it is impossible
to satisfy the build requirements. The source package seems to
require apache-dev and apache2-prefork-dev yet apt does not allow
me to install both at the same time (If I install one the other
gets removed). Either it should be possible to install both
apache dev packages at the same time or php4 should only detect
on either one of them and only build the appropriate SAPI module.

Bug#734080: Symlink should point to current netinst.iso

2014-01-03 Thread Dennis Hoppe
Package: debian-cd
Version: 3.1.13
Severity: whishlist

Hello,

i am working a lot with Packer [1] to build images for VirtualBox or
VMware Fusion, which will be used with Vagrant [2].

It would be great, if you could create a symlink which points to the
current netinst.iso. For example:

http://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/release/current/amd64/iso-cd/netinst.iso
-> debian-7.3.0-amd64-netinst.iso

Otherwise we have to update our Vagrant configs, after each point release
of Debian.

Best regards,

Dennis

This morning, Bacula wants HMF048L4, one of the two appendable tapes in
this list. It seems it should be asking for HMF046L4, if it wants to
use any appendable tapes first, or HMF068, if any expired tape will do.

Obviously, we could force the appendable/expired issue by setting
Volume Use Duration, but that's not really the part that concerns me.
In effect, Bacula is asking for the youngest expired tape, not
the oldest. This behavior reduces our available dump history from
"might often have three generations" to "will never have more than
two generations".

pygments.css is generated by Pygments, which is under a 2-clause BSD license:

I have removed documentation/latex in our buildscript for release versions. It
will not be there in future versions. The built PDF documentation will be in

I have rewritten the offending code, which I release under the same license as
the rest of XMDS2, i.e. GPL2.

I packaged version v3.10.0, this being the first package I have created
I have no idea what to do with it now.

I am currently waiting for my virtual box to complete installation so I
can test the package without breaking my computer.

Bug#691732: open-iscsi: umountiscsi.sh tries to umount / and /var

2012-10-31 Thread Dennis Leeuw

Sorry for the late reply, but I had to fix some other stuff first.

On 10/29/2012 07:06 PM, Ritesh Raj Sarraf wrote:

invoke-rc.d: initscript umountiscsi.sh, action "stop" failed.

I can't see a reason why / and /var got pulled in... Can you run the
same init script in debug mode?

At the moment I can not. I had to revert everything since production had
to go on. But I think I can explain what happened.

In the for BLOCK_FILE in $SESSION_DIR/target*/*\:*/block/*; do
with no block devices present the /block/ is not available, which sets
the BLOCK_FILE variable to (in my case)
/sys/devices/platform/host24/session20/target*/*:*/block/*

The sed command strips everything, meaning that BOCK_DEV contains "*"
The DOS_PARTITIONS variable is then set by awk while looking for ^/dev/*
in /proc/mounts. In my case that means the following lines match:
/dev/mapper/vg0-root / ext4
rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0

/dev/mapper/vg0-var /var ext4 rw,relatime,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0
And $2 thus contains / and /var

umount now tries to unmount / and /var

Adding the if-statement which should actually read:
if [ "${BLOCK_FILE}" = '${SESSION_DIR}/target*/*:*/block/*' ];
then
makes sure that if BLOCK_FILE is set to the expression, it means that
some part of the path did not exist and is does not try to unmount what
it has found.

I hope this explains it better.

With kind regards,

Dennis Leeuw

Bug#691732: open-iscsi: umountiscsi.sh tries to umount / and /var

2012-10-29 Thread Dennis Leeuw
Package: open-iscsi

Due to the fact that our system does not receive block devices from the iSCSI
target, but it is logged in,
this means the the BLOCK_FILE contains the search string, since /block/ does
not exist. It then tries to umount
everything, making the entire system read-only :(

With the change I made in umountiscsi.sh this is not happening anymore.

The patch is incorporated in the attached umountiscsi.sh script. See the
if statement under the :

for BLOCK_FILE in $SESSION_DIR/target*/*\:*/block/*; do

line.

I can't buy that statement. umountiscsi.sh does not do a remount in
read-only mode. Typically, the file system is re-mounted read-only,
only when it senses that the underneath block device is mis-behaving.

What is your block device underneath the / file system? Is it a local
disk?

umountscsi.sh sets BLOCK_DEV to * after the if-statement I added, so it
does umount *, and due to the fact that we have set remount ro on
errors, it gets remounted ro is what I expect.

To answer your question: the block device is indeed a local disk.

Bug#691732: open-iscsi: umountiscsi.sh tries to umount / and /var

2012-10-29 Thread Dennis Leeuw
We can make this a long discussion, but I rather not. I do not have the
knowledge to tell you what might or might not happen and why. I can only
tell you what went wrong and restarting the open-iscsi service, without
a block device being present created a problem with a ro / filesystem.
But actually that is not the important. What is important is that if no
block device is present, the script does not end gracefully, with the
provided change it does.

running without my change:
# /etc/init.d/open-iscsi restart
Unmounting iscsi-backed filesystems: Unmounting all devices marked
_netdevDeactivating iSCSI volume groups: md3200_1 Volume group
"md3200_1" not found

Cannot deactivate Volume Group md3200_1 ... (warning).
.
umount: /: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
Could not unmount / ... (warning).
umount: /var: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
Could not unmount /var ... (warning).
 failed!
invoke-rc.d: initscript umountiscsi.sh, action "stop" failed.
Couldn't unmount all iSCSI devices. Cannot stop iSCSI service ... failed!

Which is probably not very user friendly. It doesn't matter if my system
get Read-Only or not.

With the following lines added:
if [ "${BLOCK_FILE}" =
'/sys/devices/platform/host24/session20/target*/*:*/block/*' ]; then
log_warning_msg "No block devices found for this host, nothing
to do"

return 1
fi

It ends more gracefully:
# /etc/init.d/open-iscsi restart
Unmounting iscsi-backed filesystems: Unmounting all devices marked
_netdevDeactivating iSCSI volume groups: md3200_1 Volume group
"md3200_1" not found

Cannot deactivate Volume Group md3200_1 ... (warning).
.
No block devices found for this host, nothing to do ... (warning).
invoke-rc.d: initscript umountiscsi.sh, action "stop" failed.
Couldn't unmount all iSCSI devices. Cannot stop iSCSI service ... failed!

open-iscsid is still running and a restart didn't happen, but that is
another issue.

Greetings,

Dennis

No. Please send diffs of the file. Use the diff command on the

No. Attempting to umount /, while it is mounted with
errors=remount-ro, does not trigger an event to remount it with flag
'ro'. You cannot umount / because it will always be busy. You can
re-mount it read-only manually, but that is a different story.

Bug#688907: postfix: Postfix ignores strict_8bitmime_body=no

2012-09-26 Thread Dennis Boone
Package: postfix
Version: 2.7.1-1+squeeze1
Severity: normal

With:

strict_8bitmime = no
strict_8bitmime_body = no
strict_7bit_headers = yes

in main.cf, postfix rejects messages with 8bit text in the body. The
sample message which follows shows the typical case, which is a nested
message/rfc822. Turning off strict_7bit_headers appears to remove the
problem. Unless I'm missing something, postfix shouldn't be digging
into the body at all with these settings.
