Bug#649443: soprano: sesame2 backend does not build -- lacks non-free .jar and .class

2011-11-20 Thread Dave Anglin
Source: soprano
Version: 2.6.0+dfsg.1-4
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

My source package build because the package does not include the following
non-free components:

openrdf-sesame-2.2.4-onejar.jar, slf4j-api-1.5.5.jar, slf4j-simple-1.5.5.jar
and SopranoSesame2Wrapper.class. I installed the .jar's from the net but
the SopranoSesame2Wrapper.class is not generated. Possibly, there is a
missing dependency on openjdk.

I hacked CMakeLists.txt to disable building the sesame2 backend. This
enabled a successful build.

Given that this package is needed to build kde4libs and that the missing files
are non-free, I think disabling the sesame2 backend should be default.

I believe that package needs to link against libsubunit. If I

As a minor note, hppa doesn't really support pie, so I disabled it in
debian rules.

Build command 'cd chicken-4.8.0 && dpkg-buildpackage -b -uc' failed.

As can be seen, this fails because the gcc link command lacks "-Wl"
before ",-soname,libchicken.so.6" argument. This occurs because of
the following rule in debian/rules:

# The directories here have to be prefixed by $(CURDIR)/debian/tmp
# because that is the location where the binary package files are
# placed by dpkg-buildpackage. If absolute files are specified,
# i.e. /var/lib/chicken, then those files will be installed on the
# build system, but will not end up in the package.
$(MAKE) PREFIX="$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr" LINKER_LINK_SHARED_DLOADABLE_O
PTIONS='-L. -shared $(LDFLAGS),-R"."' LINKER_LINK_SHARED_PROGRAM_OPTIONS='$(LDFL
AGS),-R"."' LIBCHICKEN_SO_LINKER_OPTIONS='$(LDFLAGS),-soname,libchicken.so.6' VA
RDIR="$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/var/lib" install

I suppose others added the "-Wl" to LDFLAGS but that's not normal.

Bug#713827: vlc-nox: FTBFS on hppa -- no bluray support

2013-06-22 Thread Dave Anglin
Package: vlc-nox
Version: 2.0.7-2
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Currently, hppa does not have bluray support as it depends on openjdk-6/7.
As result, vlc build from sources fails:

dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Benjamin Drung
 dpkg-source --before-build vlc-2.0.7
dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture hppa
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: libbluray-dev (>= 1:0.2.1)
dpkg-buildpackage: warning: build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting
dpkg-buildpackage: warning: (Use -d flag to override.)

The attached patch fixes the issue for me.

Bug#713897: libbluray: FTBFS on hppa -- openjdk-6-jdk dependency

2013-06-23 Thread Dave Anglin
Source: libbluray
Version: 1:0.2.2-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

dpkg-buildpackage: source package libbluray
dpkg-buildpackage: source version 1:0.2.2-1
dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Rico Tzschichholz
 dpkg-source --before-build libbluray-0.2.2

dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: openjdk-6-jdk
dpkg-buildpackage: warning: build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting
dpkg-buildpackage: warning: (Use -d flag to override.)

openjdk-6 has not been ported to hppa and I understand there are maintenance
problems on other architectures as well.

libbluray is required by other source packages (e.g., gvfs and vlc). These
packages don't require libbluray Java support. I have been told that it's
currently experimental and insecure.

I was able to build libbluray by hacking the rules and control files to
disable building bdjava.

(i.e., I believe the value should be 0x4000).

I believe these symbols are supposed to be provided by python-ldb
but they have been removed from 1:1.1.4-1.

dave@mx3210:~/debian/samba$ dpkg -l python-ldb

||/ Name   VersionDescription
+++-==-==-
ii python-ldb 1:1.1.4-1 Python bindings for LDB

In particular, the symbols are not in pyldb.h.

As side notes,
a) I had to modify debian/rules adding --disable-pie to the configure options,
b) I had to add rfc3454.txt and rfc4518.txt to the source as the build
requires these "non-free" files.

Bug#667969: gcc-4.6: r185758 included in version 4.6.3-2 breaks GCC on hppa

2012-04-07 Thread Dave Anglin
Package: gcc-4.6
Version: 4.6.3-1
Severity: important

After building and installing version 4.6.3-2, I found the new
version would hang compiling various files in pointer_set_insert.
GCC is unable to bootstrap itself.

This is GCC PR middle-end/52894.

The fix that introduced this problem was also applied to 4.5, 4.7
and the trunk. Debian version 4.7.0-2 has the same problem.

It works on mx3210 with dash shell:
buildd@mx3210:~$ convert gnupg2/gnupg2-2.2.46/doc/gnupg-module-overview.svg

It is not clear why the warning was forced on all architectures. We have the
following
code in ld/configure.tgt:

# By default the linker will generate warnings if it is creating an
# executable stack or a segment with all three of read, write and
# execute permissions. These settings are not appropriate for all
# targets however, so we can change them here:

if test "${ac_default_ld_warn_rwx_segments}" = unset; then
  case "${targ}" in
  # The CRIS and V850 default linker scripts yields just one segment
  # as intended, so a rwx segment warning is not helpful.
  # The HPPA's and SPARC's PLT sections use a constructed trampoline
  # hence it needs to have a RWX segment.
  # Many MIPS targets use executable segments.

The PLT section on hppa needs to be RWX.

Binutils is now configured with --enable-warn-rwx-segments.

Hi,

Attached is an updated version of pr99832-distro.diff. It fixes many
test failures on hppa but acats tests didn't run.

Test results for gcc-15.1.0-4 with this patch are posted here:
https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-testresults/2025-May/847808.html

Please review and install.

Bug#1092102: kalarm ftbfs on armel, hppa and other 32-bit platforms

2025-06-02 Thread Dave Anglin
Back to trying to build kalarm on hppa and I see hppa still hasn't been added
to testsuite_failing_archs.

I suspect this fails on on 32-bit architectures because the t64 patch for
libstdc++-v3 is broken.  See
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=99832.

I have pushed Matthias on this issue but haven't had a response.

Bug#1095984: Info received (Bug#1095984: Acknowledgement (warning: '_GLIBCXX_TIME_BITS64_ABI_TAG' redefined))

2025-06-09 Thread Dave Anglin
A fix for bug pr99832 was committed to gcc trunk:
https://gcc.gnu.org/cgit/gcc/commit/?id=d045eb13b0b42870a1f081895df3901112a358f0

See the commit message regarding the effect of defining _TIME_BITS=64 on
std::chrono::system_clock::to_time_t.

This affects release architectures as well as hppa (armel and armhf).

The debian patch is broken in that _GLIBCXX_TIME_BITS64_ABI_TAG is redefined to
an empty string which does nothing other than generate a warning. The warning
breaks hundreds of tests and makes it impossible to assess build quality.

Hope this can be fixed.

I don't believe this is specific to hppa.  In this amd64 build,
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=gcc-15&arch=amd64&ver=15.1.0-7&stamp=1749529863&raw=0
there is no acats Summary.

In my hppa builds, I see summaries like:
