Bug#826299: emacs24-lucid: crashes when trying to open a non-English mail using Gnus

2016-06-04 Thread Vasudev Kamath
Package: emacs24-lucid
Version: 24.5+1-6+b2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Opening Mailbox containing non-English mail, in my case Kannada language mail
caused emacs to crash. I seen this crash before in both cases the crash occured
when mailbox contained mail from Google which had subject line in Kannada.

I collected backtrace of crash using gdb and here is the line where the crash
happened.

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

And below is top 10 list of function leading to crash as shown in back trace.

I also did check typing in Kannada on emacs scratch buffer and that did not
lead to any crash.
This crash specifically happens when opening mailbox from Gnus containing
Kannada strings. I'm
not sure if this happens with other language strings though.

Also I noticed this in emacs24 package also. Since now I've emacs24-lucid I'm
reporting
it against this package.

I wanted to send entire core file but its too huge, compressed with xz it comes
to 8.1M. If
needed I can make it available via some other methods.

Cheers,

Trying to upgrade from 4:15.08.3-2 wants to remove plasma-workspace
(and thus plasma-desktop and kde-plasma-desktop), because the latter
Depends on kactivities which the newer kio-extras version Breaks but
does not Provides.

kactivities was replaced by kactivitymanagerd. The new plasma-desktop (that
I've just uploaded) adds the missing dependency.

This will cause all packages build-depending on fpc; e.g. hedgewars,
lazarus, libqt4pas, and fpc itself, to FTBFS.

Although parsing of the huiman readable output of gpg is strongly
discouraged, I know that lot of scripts do it anyway. Breaking the
default format will thus break the scripts. Whether this is good or bad
would trigger a long discussion.

The default format in 2.1 has changed anyway, thus we are free to
further change it. This will definitely happen before we release 2.2.
I do not plan to change the _default_ format for 1.4 or 2.0.

The long format can be justified because that is what the OpenPGP
protocol uses at some places. (A historical reason for showing the keyid
and the fingerprint is that the keyid of PGP-2 keys (v3 keys) cannot be
derived from a v3 fingerprint.)

That happens because you have a version of libc6-i686 installed on your
system, therefore apt or aptitude show this package. Now that you have
upgraded your system and removed this package, apt and aptitude should
show it is a virtual package.

That said I don't know what we can do from the glibc side point of view
to change this behavior.

Note also that we added a note in /usr/share/doc/libc6/NEWS.Debian.gz of
version 2.22-10 explaining that this package can be safely removed. Is
it enough to consider this bug as fixed?

Any chance we can get this feature. This would allow us to easily catch
cases where people have broken tarballs from somewhere (and gbp would
therefore not regenerate them because they have the corret name). It
would also help us to detect compressor changes.

It would be interested to know which QEMU command you used to start this
image. Since the switch to GCC 5, the mips architecture requires a R2
CPU.

QEMU defaults emulating a R2 CPU in 32-bit mode, but a R1 CPU in 64-bit
mode. In the later case try to pass "-cpu 5KEf" to QEMU.

And, indeed, gegl now builds fine on sparc64 [1].
Note the comments in the upstream bug tracker though [2] where it
is suggested to use the following code instead:

 dst[0] = src[0];
 dst[1] = src[1];
 dst[2] = src[2];
 dst[3] = 255;

I have not verified that yet, but it seems this should actually work.

We could keep a dumb empty lib6-i686 package for the Stretch release?

Hmm? it's lib_text_cat and that above says "Text". It doesn't say code.

Yeah, that's what it can/should do. Guess/Categorize the "natural" language of
a text.

Sorry, I am not going to change the description just for people who
read this (imho clear) description in this way...

Great - that did the trick! Many thanks for the pointer! Installing
plasma-integration brought back all the icons in dolphin on my Fluxbox
machine. Thus, I assume that the dolphin package needs some further
depends/recommends to make it run smoothly on non-KDE systems.

When I start virtualbox, I get

The package is actually installed, but the following message was issued:

Module build for the currently running kernel was skipped since the

But, as you can see, I'm running 4.1.0-1-amd64...

So what is the problem?

Wouldn't that just postpone the problem to Stretch? When we really
remove the dummy package, apt and aptitude will still not show it as
virtual.

Bug#747824: Package dependencies

2016-06-04 Thread Patrick Winnertz
Hey Jonathan,

could you try to publish somewhere the complete list of packages, which
are currently missing to build atom (or move the atom packaging efforts
into a public git), so that maybe others could help to get this done
quickly.

Maybe it would be wise to build a team to maintain atom and it's
dependencies within debian as it looks like a major effort.

Greetings
Patrick

Bug#806008: coq: FTBFS when built with dpkg-buildpackage -A (No such file or directory)

2016-06-04 Thread Santiago Vila
Dear maintainers:

It seems this source package (coq) does not generate "Arch: all"
packages anymore.

If this is intentional, then this bug may be closed.

But I don't know for sure because I didn't find anything about this in
the changelog.

Can you comment on this?

Thanks.

Nevermind.

I finally found it:

coq (8.5~beta2+dfsg-1) experimental; urgency=medium

No, but the description of the package will be that it's a dumb package
which can safely removed, not "the standard libraries that are used by

Hi,

I don't really get why php-pecl-http is not built for armel/armhf:

since there is no Packages-arch-specific entry and the package is

Ok, I've run npm2deb to create a list of the node-dependencies required
for building and running atom, according to their package.json. Please
note that some of the dependencies might be only applicable to the build
process on other operating systems. [0]

I think that the npm/node dependencies should go to the Javascript
Packaging Team, but atom and its other dependencies might indeed benefit
from an own packaging team, so it would be nice if someone could request
one as I can't due to me being a regular Debian Contributer.

Thanks for the ticket!

Yes, I checked the buildd status page [0], situation seems not good.

Maybe I can set Arch=linux-any in d/control to avoid a few, for the short term.

For the long term, I still need to figure out the root cause and fix solution.
Do you have any recommendation to resolve those compiling issue?
BTW. I have no access to porterbox.

Great - that did the trick! Many thanks for the pointer! Installing
plasma-integration brought back all the icons in dolphin on my Fluxbox
machine. Thus, I assume that the dolphin package needs some further
depends/recommends to make it run smoothly on non-KDE systems.

Not really, you are asking qt5 to behave as if it were running under a KDE
environment setting XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE, the problem is that there no sane
way to configure qt5 icon theme without it. But that's on the qt side of
things, forcing a plasma installation for any qt5 program would be wrong.

What's missing here is something like:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/qt5ct/

I think that the plan on the qt side was to provide something like this with
qt, but I'm not sure if it's going to be there in qt 5.6.1.

squeeze is unsupported already.
wheezy support will expire in 2018.
jessie doesn't use our repository so far, thus doesn't need this
package, same for stretch.

I suppose it's best to drop this package during the stretch development
cycle and stop using the repository for anything post-wheezy.

Best, considering our ressources and our current development model.

Upstream 2.1.10 added a new --date option to yat2m, but GnuPG 1.4.20

In GOsa, we have hooks for all sorts of object actions. One hook is the user
account postremove  hook.

This hook gets called when a user gets removed from LDAP. Everything fine
around this.

By design, this hook also gets called whenever a user template object gets
removed. A user template is a user-like LDAP object, that acts as a template
for account generation.

Those user template object do not have a home dir, neither do they have
Kerberos data.

Debian Edu comes with two such user templates, at our customers we add several
more (for itstaff, wifionlyusers, ...). I had to remove such a template back
then and the removal threw up an error.

The cause of the error message was that the postremove hook tried to remove the
home dir of a user template. User templates do not have home dirs by design.

In the gosa-remove script, we simply need to check the LDAP object being
processed and skip all actions if that LDAP object has object class
gosaAccountTemplate (IRC).

Does that help as info??

Greets,
Mike

I'm pretty sure that was fixed by the move to minified dh. Thanks for
doublechecking.

Well, when doing that, a new profile (corresponding to the new UUID)
will be generated when starting up the new domain, and presumably it
will prevent the domain's startup in just the same way as the previous
profile, no?

(Still, I was mostly guessing there, and I am totally ready to accept
I was guessing wrong :)

Now that's interesting! The logs I'm requesting below should help me
understand better what's happening:

>>complain or enforce mode

[... snipping logs about the parser load/etc. operations ...]

Let me be more specific: I would like to see the log about what
AppArmor blocks (the corresponding log entries should contain the
"DENIED" string).

>>  * the generated profile (/etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-${uuid}*)

Hmmm, OK. Here I have to admit that I have no clue how libvirt handles
AppArmor with qemu:///session; I've never tried it myself, and I don't
even know if it's supposed to be supported. Can you reproduce this
problem with qemu:///system?

I guess that at some point I should simply try and run your
autopkgtest myself to investigate, but first if you don't mind I'd
like a little bit more input from you, until we can be certain whether
it's a bug in AppArmor or in libvirt's AppArmor integration.
Fair enough?

Well, there are no DENIED messages - that's the puzzling part and the
reason for this bug. The should be a all also contain "audit" and end up
in dmesg so my grep expression should have caught them (and I .

No, session works as expected. The start of this journay basically was
to find out what aa does to qemu:///ession (at the very best it
should totally ignore it).

yes, thanks.

Did I understand correctly that currently this causes harmless warnings
but nothing else? (or is some cleanup not done or is something cleaned

Looks good to me. I am committing this patch. However, I think we
should also do this for user upgrading to the new version. The attached
patch takes care of upgrading.

Aha, that makes sense. So I've retitled and downgraded the bug
appropriately since it shouldn't now be the cause of a FTBFS. I'll
forward upstream - the test is clearly buggy (in at least two regards,
one of which cancels out the other).

Bug#826315: kernel-common: Claims a modified configuration file

2016-06-04 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: kernel-common
Version: 13.018
Severity: normal

I'm currently installing a system from scratch starting with a minimal
system from a d-i netinstall.

Since I want to compile a kernel, I installed the pices bit by bit
(but only with apt-get install ..., not modifying any configuration
file so far explicitly).

When running
apt-get install kernel-package docbook-utils kernel-common

I got a conflict in the file /etc/kernel-img.conf

I attached the files left in the system (I chose to follow the
"newer") version.

Bug#826316: ruby-grape-entity 0.5.1-1 breaks tests of ruby-grape 0.5.0

2016-06-04 Thread Cédric Boutillier
Package: ruby-grape-entity
Version: 0.5.0-1

Dear Maintainer,

ruby-grape fails to build because of failing tests. The autopackage
tests for ruby-grape started to fail when ruby-grape-entity 0.5.1-1 was
introduced.

Using version 0.5.0-1 instead to build ruby-grape results in a
successful build.

Cheers,

Cédric

Bug#826318: fakeroot: switching packaging to debhelper

2016-06-04 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: fakeroot
Version: 1.20.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hi,

fakeroot shows two problems in piuparts, ususally while testing other
packages:

* leftover dangling libfakeroot-0.so symlink
  (the postinst has code remove that link, but that wasn't updated for the
  multiarch conversion)

* unsanitized directory permissions in the i386 package: directories are
  775 instead of 755 (would have been fixed by dh_fixperms) which piuparts
  notices as "permission chnages" on certain upgrade paths

I took the liberty to convert the ancient debian/rules to use debhelper 9
which results in a shorter and easier to manage packaging, automatically
fixing the second problem.

The steps leading to debhelper and fixing above two bugs can be found in
several commits in
git://git.debian.org/git/users/anbe/tmp/fakeroot.git

It would be great if you could update fakeroot in sid!

Thanks

Andreas

Indeed. That means we have to go to NEW and keep this package one more
year, but from the user experience, that should work better.

I'll see how we can do that in our build system.

I am not sure it's really my job already. The first question is: how
should this interact with the existing gzip package? I see that at least
one package (zutils) does a similar thing via diversions and I don't
like that approach, alternatives mechanism would have been much cleaner
IMHO.

What's the maintainer's view on that?

Bug#826319: devscripts: debdiff fails on diffing .changes with matching version but different package lists

2016-06-04 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.16.4
Severity: normal

Hi,

I just tried to convert fakeroot to use debhelper. To see whether I
didn't miss something previously shipped, I wanted to debdiff against a
.changes with only the version bumped (to reduce noise), but no other
changes. That worked until I enabled dh_strip, which added -dbgsym debs
to the new .changes:

$ debdiff  ref/fakeroot_1.20.2-1.1_amd64.changes
fakeroot_1.20.2-1.1_amd64.changes
debdiff: fatal error at line 456:
Can't read file: ref/fakeroot-dbgsym_1.20.2-1.1_amd64.deb

Hmm, there are no -dbgsym packages in ref/, why does debdiff try to load
them? It works fine with

$ debdiff  fakeroot_1.20.2-1_amd64.changes fakeroot_1.20.2-1.1_amd64.changes
[...]

where the old one doesn't have -dbgsym packages either, but has a
different version number.

Could any of you try this instead and tell us if the problem goes away?

ExecStartPre=/bin/mkdir -p /var/run/pppconfig

(I don't maintain pppconfig, I just made the last QA upload,
but this error seems definitely easy to fix).

I use Emacs; debian-el for reporting bugs and the instruction says:

 grave
  *makes the package in question unuseable*

and this is actually the case

  or mostly so, or causes data
  loss, or introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts of
  users who use the package.

Is the instruction wrong or obsolete?

2016-06-04 Thread Rene Engelhard

Hi,

LibreOffice master (for 5.3.0 for now, but maybe it will be backported,
not sure) got support for building against firebird 3.

Unfortunately firebird-dev in experimental neither contains a pkg-config file
nor a fb_config. So the pkg-config path gets tried, it tries fbclient >= 3 and
fbembded and of course fails.

Right now I worked around it with

but that's of course not a real solution...

It's not exactly a packaging bug - normally it's up to the $de-session

I will add some icon-themes as recommends, that should fix it - beware
of that the
icon theme must set in preferences if not picked up automagically.

So it tried four times and your private DNS is still failing.
Please fix the DNS server!
Maybe it was shut down for upgrade as well?

Another thing, it DID tell the reason to systemd. Wasn't there a message in
systemctl status output?

Is there some reference regarding these two icon themes? I looked at
the PTS and I did not find something relating their relationship
(except a note that they share similar files). As far as I can see,
they are also co-installable?

Well, it was explicitly requested in 678223.

I've checked prerm and the code to remove this divert is already there,
so I suppose this needs to be done in preinst instead?

Well, this machine does not have any DNS at all (atm), as I only use
/etc/hosts in my privat network. Once it is (fully) installed, it will
get direct internet and DNS access. I wasn't aware that DNS is needed
(and thought IP numbers did as well).

So I postpone installing apt-cacher-ng for the moment and will retry
later with DNS available.

Bug#807658: python-enum: This package will be removed

2016-06-04 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Followup-For: Bug #807658
Control: severity -1 serious

Hi,

python-laditools has switched to python-enum34 already, but upgrades
from jessie to stretch do not work smoothly as long as python-enum
is still available in stretch: apt prefers to keep python-enum installed
and the jessie version of python-laditools instead of kicking out
python-enum to install python-enum34 and python-laditools from stretch.
This should work smoothly once python-enum is gone from stretch (but it
might need adding a Breaks: python-enum to python-enum34).

Bug#826322: liblog-log4perl-perl: semget fails when there a semaphore with semid 0

2016-06-04 Thread Martin Köhler
Package: liblog-log4perl-perl
Version: 1.44-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
as reported via github directly to the maintainer
https://github.com/mschilli/log4perl/issues/72#event-604356082

I ran in the same bug as Siarhei Kuchynski:
The following code in line 64 of Log::Log4perl::Util::Semaphore should fix
this:
64 defined($self->{id} = semget( $self->{ikey}, 1, 0 ))

He observes:
"When a semaphore with specified key (0x6f6e616e) and semid = 0 already
exists, semget fails for this semaphore:

bash-4.0# ipcs -s

Verberge zitierten Text
-- Semaphore Arrays

key semid owner perms nsems

0x6f6e616e 0 root 777 1

with the following error message

semget(1869504878) failed: at
/usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl//Log/Log4perl/Util/Semaphore.pm line 64.

This is caused by line 64 of Log::Log4perl::Util::Semaphore.pm

63 print "Semaphore '$self->{key}' already exists\n" if INTERNAL_DEBUG;

64 $self->{id} = semget( $self->{ikey}, 1, 0 )

65 or die "semget($self->{ikey}) failed: $!";

semget returns ID 0 for the key 1869504878 and dies, though 0 should be
considered to be valid ID
According to http://perldoc.perl.org/functions/semget.html:
semget KEY,NSEMS,FLAGS
Calls the System V IPC function semget(2). Returns the semaphore id, or the
undefined value on error.
It seems that init method should call die only if semget returns undefined
value, not zero.
"
Fix is:
-   $self->{id} = semget( $self->{ikey}, 1, 0 )
+   defined( $self->{id} = semget( $self->{ikey}, 1, 0 ) )

Michael fixed this in commit
https://github.com/mschilli/log4perl/commit/5e4b1b3b6cd3146d2f0e88bf5de3225ab62fee6c

Could you please backport the fix.
Thanks
 Best Martin

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where

   * What led up to the situation?

I updated to Icedove 45. I use Orca 3.20. Icedove is set to open messages in
a window, instead of tab, and the viewer is disabled.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

1. Open Icedove
2. In inbox, remove unread mails or read them
(to get an unread mail, send yourself a mail)

   * What was the outcome of this action?

When all messages a!e read, I see "Inbox (1)".

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I shou;dn't see (1). When I exit then re-run Icedove, the (1) disappears.
So (1) is inexact. The problem is on varioks mailboxes/Mail folders.

Bug#826324: Array out of bounds in loop

2016-06-04 Thread Bas Wijnen
Package: freedink
Version: 108.4-1
Severity: normal

While compiling the package from the Debian source, I saw a warning about
undefined behavior, and it is indeed a bug.

In src/dinkc.c, MAX_CALLBACKS is defined as 100, and callback is defined as

static struct call_back callback[MAX_CALLBACKS];

There is a comment on it that says:
/* TODO: Used 1->100 in the game, should it be MAX_CALLBACKS+1 ? */

Most of the code uses k < MAX_CALLBACKS to detect the end, so it would work
(but it would also be one short of what the original game expects; I have not
checked if the original is writing out of bounds).

However, the warning is about line 843, which says k <= MAX_CALLBACKS.

This is wrong, and there are two possible solutions.

1. Change <= into <. I think this is wrong, because the game expects
callback[100] to be valid.
2. So instead, the array should be defined as MAX_CALLBACKS + 1 and all the
other limit checks should be changed into <=.

Thanks,
Bas

Bug#826327: nmu: kde-spectacle_4:5.6.4-3

2016-06-04 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org

nmu kde-spectacle_4:5.6.4-3 . hurd-i386 . unstable . -m "Rebuild against

Due to unlucky timing kde-spectacle was built against libkf5screen6 on
hurd.

Why would I want to add a dependency on that?  It only solves half the
problem, anyway  I ended up with:

# Are we in a container? Check for $container in pid 1's environment.
sub in_container {
  my $res = 0;
  if (my $fh = new FileHandle('/proc/1/environ', 'r')) {
local $/ = "\0";
$res = grep(/^container=/, <$fh>);
close($fh);
  }
  return $res;
}

# Are we in in a chroot? Compare root device and inode numbers with pid 1.
sub in_chroot {
  my @my_root_st = stat('/');
  my @pid1_root_st = stat('/proc/1/root');

  return @my_root_st && @pid1_root_st &&
  ($my_root_st[0] != $pid1_root_st[0] || $my_root_st[1] !=
$pid1_root_st[1]);
}

But I'm preparing a rewrite of the maintainer scripts, not using Perl,
and the implementation as a shell script is even shorter:

# Are we in a container?  Check for $container in pid 1's environment.
in_container() {
grep -qz '^container=' /proc/1/environ
}

# Are we in in a chroot?  Compare root device and inode numbers with pid 1.
in_chroot() {
test "$(stat -L -c %d:%i /)" != "$(stat -L -c %d:%i /proc/1/root)"
}

Bug#826328: util-linux: losetup -d disfunctional for cloop and similar loop-compatible block devices

2016-06-04 Thread Klaus Knopper
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.28-5
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Losetup was able to setup compressed loopback (cloop) devices, which
have a similar ioctl API, until recently the code in sys-utils/losetup.c
and lib/loopdev.c was changed to only accept devices with loopbacks
major device id.

While attaching a file to a cloop device still works (no check here),
detaching with -d fails with error message:

losetup: /dev/cloop7: failed to use device: Success

Suggestion: Remove the check for

major(st.st_rdev) == LOOPDEV_MAJOR);

in is_loopdev() in lib/loopdev.c.

host.conf has not been modified by me, it reads:
root@samd:/# cat /etc/host.conf
multi on

I attached acng.conf.

If you need further files please let me know.

That is probably beyond my knowledge[1], could you reassign? I'm willing
to test and provide information, no problem on that.

Greetings

   Helge

[1] Not the commands to reassign, but finding the right package and
giving the right information for the bug to be proccessed.

Bug#804175: potential workaround

2016-06-04 Thread Simon Frei
I added a check for extended partitions to 50mounted-tests. However it
is rather ugly as it parses file -s $partition output and I do not know
whether this test is valid in all circumstances. In any case I got rid
of all those kernel errors with this.

Bug#826329: brltty: Please make easier braille driver setting

2016-06-04 Thread Jean-Philippe MENGUAL
Package: brltty
Version: 5.3.1-3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Today, braille display support is correct, but automate recognition is
not warrantied
at all. Either due to USB IDs, or because the driver needs additional
parameters
(e.g. Eurobraille), or because braille display needs serial ports (ttyS0
or ttyUSB0),
etc.

Then, the user needs to change brltty.conf manually. Although this file
is quite
well documented, it's not convinient at all for an end-user.

Could we imagine Debian implements something to change this file through an
user interface? The user just would do dpkg-reconfigure brlttty to
change it.

I identify at least 4 important settings to "humanize": braille-driver,
braille-device,
braille-parameter, text-table.

With capability to check several choices and, for devices, enter it manually
(useful when serial device is ttyUSB0).

Would it be possible to implement it?

Best regards,
