Bug#800423: ghc: Package ghc 7.10.2-2 conflicts with itself via virtual packages

2015-09-29 Thread Tobias Stein
Package: ghc
Version: 7.10.2-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
I tried to upgrade haskell-platform to current state in experimental using
aptitude.
The installation process exited with:

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

For example the Package ghc 7.10.2.2 conflicts with "libghc-array-dev" or
"libghc-base-dev" which is provided by ghc 7.10.2-2.
So it looks for me that this version of ghc conflicts with itself.

ghc-doc depends on haddock-interface-27, that depends on ghc, which is broken.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Can't upgrade ghc-doc and its dependancies to 7.10.2-2.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Clean upgrade process.

Bug#800426: seabios: XEN is not enable for 128k rom

2015-09-29 Thread Julien Duponchelle
Package: seabios
Severity: minor
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

Hi when looking at the source of the last seabios debian package I have seen
this line:
$(call build-bios,bios,QEMU=y ROM_SIZE=128 PVSCSI=n USB_XHCI=n
USB_UAS=n XEN=n)

But the comment just before say XEN should be enable:
# A (somewhat) stripped-down version of bios, to fit in 128Kb
# If the bios is larger, we have issues with guest migration, and older xen
# (before 4.3.1) does not work as it only supports bios of size 128Kb.
# Upstream qemu builds smaller bios without XCHI (usb3) and XEN,
# but we need XEN support so we disable usb3 (implenented since 1.7.4)
# and another recent but rather small feature, pvscsi. We're very close
# to the available size, and the size also depends on compiler and options.
# Qemu past 1.7 version will load bios-256k.bin by default (for new machine
# types), but the size is still a concern when specifying older machine
# types (1.7 and before).

I don't know if it's an issue but the documentation is confusing.

Thanks a lot for your hard work

The problem is that the transformers package got merged into the
compiler, so what used to be in libghc-transformers-doc is now in ghc
-doc. This needs a Conflict and Breaks from ghc-doc to libghc
-transformers-doc (and possibly others), or possibly ghc-doc can move
these files somewhere else, and haddock can be told where to look.

This needs to be fixed before this version of ghc can enter testing.

This is actually ok, a package will never actually conflict with
itself, just with anything else providing libghc-base-dev.

Greetings,
Joachim

Please try with "+set basedir /path/to/quake2" as an additional

Bug#800427: cheese: Cheese 3.18 breaks Gnome Contacts 3.18

2015-09-29 Thread Marc J. Driftmeyer
Package: cheese
Version: 3.16.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Can we seriously cross-reference the test harness dependencies to figure out
that when other packages upgrade to GNOME 3.18.0 [Example: gnome-contacts] that
adjacent packages, like Cheese 3.18.0 don't break and uninstall already the
latest 3.18 packages?

Seriously, this entire upgrade along with the GCC 5 transition is an
abomination.

Finish the GCC 5 transition with GNOME 3.16 and then move in 3.18. Too many
breaks make zero sense. The Fact gnome-control-center is built but the rquired
libgdesktop 3.12 is non-existent and those packages are uploaded to
Experimental anyways speaks volumes to the problems not being mitigated to
avoid the end user from taking a bath on broken packages.

Almost:
- Breaks is enough, no need for Conflicts
- gr-osmosdr is also a reverse dependency of libuhd003 so should have the
  tighter dep as well
- the tighter dependency should be injected via a stronger dependency
in the "shlibs" file exported by libuhd003 (built with "dh_makeshlibs -V")

The package rename was the easy/clean solution to make sure that old
binaries do not use the new library. But you can also ensure this
with Breaks. Both are acceptable.

the v5 is just a way to automatically rename the package, the suffix
itself is not important, so renaming to libuhd3.9 is also possible
but this will require a round through NEW while the v5 suffix
is already known in the overrides file.

I think you know the basics: for upstream “change the SONAME when you
break the ABI”, and for you “change the package name when the SONAME
changes”.

As long as upstream doesn't follow the SONAME change, it's up to you
to change the package name when the ABI changes.

Bug#800429: seabios: Disable SDCARD for 128k rom

2015-09-29 Thread Julien Duponchelle
Package: seabios
Severity: wishlist
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

The sdcard support is new in seabios 1.8 and used only by Qemu. Recent
version of qemu use the 256k rom. I suggest to disable the sdcard
by adding SDCARD=n in debian/rules during the build of the 128K rom.

For last debian version actually it's not an issue because GCC optimization
success to keep the size under 128K. But when trying to backport it to an
ubuntu 14.04 LTS I got the issue. I think this can help you to free some
space in prevision of futur seabios releases.

Thanks a lot for your hardwork

I believe it's a side effect of a new feature introduced by nvidia-driver
340.93-2 and glx-alternatives 0.6 combined, namely the auto-generation of
the xorg.conf and the auto-loading of the necessary kernel modules.

IMHO this is a great feature to have and it makes the life of the users
much simpler. So the question is how to deal with the permission problem.

Adding the DM users to the video group in the driver postinst seems the
basic solution, but it's not enough as a chicken-and-egg situation could
happen (eg: a GDM-Nvidia user installs sddm later). So the only way to be
sure would be to also create the DM users if not present at the driver
install time. But how will the various DM packages deal with the fact that
the user already exists at install time? Will it cause problems?

Another solution would be having the DM packages themselves add their users
to the video group on install as well, but I'd be wary of adding
workarounds in other packages, especially when it involves extending
privileges, and I suspect the respective mainteiners feel the same way.

Andreas, Vincent, what are your thoughts on this?

I'll try and have a play and investigate in the following days.

This ''permission mess'' on cups backend is another story, and another
bug:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=702227

really, i've not understood why there's permission restriction, and how
circumvent it.
I admit that using ''chained backend'' is not a common setup, but cups
support it, while seems that breaks their ''security model''.

It is at least not clear. Probably is an upstream thing, but...

Consider also to simply add a row on README.Debian or something like
that: 'beh' is a very simply perl script, with no exotic perl deps, so
probably some row that explain how to download and install perl will
suffices, at least for now.

deinstall all downloaded Eclipse plugins.

I understand that this might not be a satisfactory answer but the only
way to avoid such bugs is to disable Eclipse's way of updating plugins

Aha, thank you very much for these clues. I wiped out everything in the
plugins directory in ~/.eclipse and anything related to m2e, then
reinstalled the maven add-on, and now I can see the XML stuff and the
Maven stuff both in Eclipse's UI! I guess I'd request Debian packaging
of the m2e Eclipse stuff so I don't have to touch the non-Debian add-on

Bug#784543: [pkg-golang-devel] Bug#784543: golang: test failures on arm64

2015-09-29 Thread Edmund Grimley Evans
I think I've resolved a couple of the issues:

* Not building with gccgo:

I thought I was joking when I wrote that I sometimes forget to mount
/proc. Well, it turns out that the build system runs "go env GOROOT",
and that command fails obscurely if /proc is not mounted:

$ go env GOROOT
fatal error: libbacktrace could not find executable to open

runtime stack:
panic during panic

runtime stack:
stack trace unavailable

Maybe someone should make that failure more user-friendly. I have seen
programs that tell you exactly how to mount /proc.

Anyway, I was then able to build golang from gccgo-5.

* The GDB failure:

This seems to pass with the newer gdb installed, or with no gdb
installed; gdb is not installed by the Build-Depends.

I still have the other two failures, but I think these don't affect
the buildds or typical set-ups:

Bug#800430: debian-i18n: Glitch in Sans Serif font with Polish diacritic sign

Package: debian-i18n
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

Sans Serif font shipped with Debian does not correctly render Polish letter ż
(z with a dot above it). With font sizes 13 or smaller and italics the letter
is rendered as z with a vertical bar over it (instead of just a dot). This
problem appears in Wheezy but I've also seen it in the installer of Jessie.

I assume you sent the patches upstream.

For the uscan OpenPGP support to work, upstream needs to release
tarballs (using make distcheck), upload detached OpenPGP signatures
and debian/watch needs to contain an pgpsigurlmangle= option. The
github releases feature can be used to store the tarballs and detached
OpenPGP signatures.

The upstream autogen script can be replaced with two lines:

#!/bin/sh
exec ${AUTORECONF-autoreconf} --install --symlink --force

aclocal.m4 is copied in by autotools, so it should be removed from upstream git.

I own all supported gemrb games from GOG. My first try was Baldur's Gate
1 and I pushed the .yaml file to a new branch "baldurs-gate".

GOG provides 5 different windows installers and 5 linux installers.
Since "game-data-packager make-template" didn't work for the linux
installer out-of-the-box, I used setup_baldurs_gate_2.0.0.20.exe and
extracted the files with innoextract.

Unfortunately g-d-p hardcodes the platform-priority for lgogdownloader
to linux, windows. I would like to override this option with a new tag
like platform or platform-priority and language. Is there another way to
force the download of the English windows installer or might it be even
better to add support for unpacking the linux installer?

Markus

Bug#707851: Debian Menu Systems : Implementation of the TC decision

One of the points of the TC decision is precisely to avoid a "free
choice" between the two formats. The first point of that decision is to
adopt ba679bff76f5b9152f43d5bc901b9b3aad257479 in the Debian Policy,
which contains:
> Packages shipping applications that comply with minimal requirements
> described below for integration with desktop environments should
> register these applications in the desktop menu, (…)

Applications "should" be registered in the FreeDesktop menu if that
makes sense. The second point of the TC decision (which phrasing to be
committed in the Debian Policy we're currently discussing) is to forbid
applications that do provide XDG menu entries to _also_ provide "trad
menu" entries.

> So we might end up with packages by menu supporters removing .desktop
> files, and packages from XDG supporters removing .menu files. And
> users of either format caught inbetween.

The TC decision is saying "XDG menu is now the source, it should be read
by 'trad menu' programs, and _can_ be completed for the range of
applications that don't make sense in the XDG menu, but do make sense in
the 'trad menu'". Like it or not, this is decided, and we're "only"
discussing how this should take form in the Debian Policy.

In the light of the TC decision, I would personally consider a package
dropping an XDG desktop entry in favor of a menu entry buggy (although
there will certainly be cases debatable cases).

> Also is the TC going to implement the changes in the "menu programs"
> to support the XDG format? Because I don't see the ruling to be very

"The TC" is not going to engage in detailed design work (or
implementation work, for what is worth), although any of its members
could (but I don't see this happening).

Cheers,
OdyX

Hello,

Hm. I didn't think of --export=cmdline/configure. That's
problematic.

Do you have a suggestion how to implement this in a better way?

I tried to add it to debhelper (#800012), but that isn't perfect
either (though it should work reliably). Asking every maintainer
to manually call dpkg-buildflags won't scale and checking the
build log with blhc has been a good way to detect missing
compiler flags in a lot of packages and I'd like to avoid false
positives - but for that blhc needs to know the compiler flags
after the build.

The Site is obviously down, showing the picture of a kid holding a message, not
to hate
it, because it's muslim. That's why I changed the severity of this ticket to
important.
In my opinion it is a clear sign of neglect, when the Webpage of the project is
down, I
am not referring to that kid.
OK, acknowledged, Islam itself is not evil, but what does that weird message
displayed
there have to do with Openchrome??
I hope some of the package-maintainers have the means to inform those in charge
of the
project site, in order to set this straight again.

Bug#800436: [tracker.d.o] page listing package/version information of that package

2015-09-29 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Package: tracker.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

If there is something available in launchpad but missing in the
distro-tracker is pages like this one:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/3.19.0-15.15

It reports the following information:

* the changelog of that upload (usually only that version, but even
multiple version if there more in the .changes (like with
  dpkg-genchanges -v is used))
* the uploader
* the maintainer
* the targetted suite
* architectures to be build to
* component/section
* urgency
* a table listing the suites where this package/version is available on
* a list of builds (actually this is updated in real time, guess we in
debian don't have such "real time" infra anyway, but this info would
be handy. Also, lp keeps this information forever, look for example
at this linux upload from 2007:
  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/2.6.24-1.1 this would be
  really handy)
* direct links to the single files of the sources
* links to every binary (I figure this point would also need a lot of
work to be integrated in the current debian infra).

Now, happens that launchpad does this work also for debian packages,
partly: https://launchpad.net/debian/+source/linux/3.16.7-ckt2-1 but
it misses builds information and binaries, and anyway, I believe it
would a great addition to the current debian package tracker.

Filing this bug to share a dream :)

I own these from GOG too. When the packaging of the GOG version is
done it should be tested against the original physical media too;
to avoid surprises; like GOG version of Zork Inquisitor shipping the
obsolete Z-Engine and some bits of it's assets slipping in package definition;
or GOG skipping some *.bak from the retail CD of Theme Hospital...

That also likely means to find a way to patch old CD's.

The people from the http://wiki.dotslashplay.it/ project seems
to be huge fan of this game, I'll ask them to test this.

Ultimately, this means G-D-P is the _one_ package that
most needs to be team-maintained, as no-one can own
all those games at once.

> GOG provides 5 different windows installers and 5 linux installers.

I'll try make-template too.

> Unfortunately g-d-p hardcodes the platform-priority for lgogdownloader
> to linux,windows.

I don't understand why you feel this is unfortunate, maybe you mistook
this parameter with " --platform" which does something else.

Using "--platform windows" was the easiest solution;
but some marketeer at GOG should know that we like
that they support linux even if we nitpick about
'details' like the chmod 666 stuff in /opt ;
or them providing 'i386' instead of 'all' packages
than can't be used on ARM computers etc...

GOG.is_native() is used in a way to avoid to request users to install
innoextract and then not even using it anyway because the linux
packages provided by GOG can be read as simple zip archives.

> I would like to override this option with a new tag like platform

An other reason for not having the platform: tag in the yaml
file is that GOG.com may decide to release more & more
linux packages after each GDP release,
so this checked at runtime.

> language

This is copied from package.lang in the python GameDataPackage
object; which already default to "en".

It's maybe not exactly the same flavor of ISO 639, so things
like pt_BR or en_GB may need some translation/lower/replace
if these were ever sold by GOG.

> Is there another way to
> force the download of the English windows installer

G-D-P will read the contents of $LANGUAGE
and the $LANG to pickup the best match;
and then call "lgogdownloader --language XX"

The only way to override this for now is this way:
   LANGUAGE=en game-data-packager kyrandia

Now for the rest:

- G-D-P has not yet support for multipart GOG archives used for huge games,
multipart archive are a lot of pain (see ARJ, unshield handling) by
themselves;
  I will add this soon.

To avoid to download the same game again & again & again for tests I wrote
a fake lgogdownloader, that can be symlinked in ~/bin .

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/game-data-packager.git/tree/tools/fake_lgog.py

I need to add multipart archive support here too & replace "cp" by
a "ln" to avoid to fill up /tmp.

I'll test this against Feeble Files

- baldurs-gate1-data should be a virtual package provided by
baldurs-gate1-en-data
baldurs-gate1-de-data
baldurs-gate1-fr-data
baldurs-gate1-pl-data
baldurs-gate1-ru-data

here is an example of another multilingual GOG game:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/game-data-packager.git/tree/data/simon2.yaml

Having at first a yaml with only baldurs-gate1-en-data is OK ! ;
other languages can be added "later"; and there is the "missing_langs: []"
tag to make it show up on the dashboard.

"later": For example there seems to exist a russian version of "I have
no mouth..."
not sold by Steam/GOG. As I can't browse the web in russian; I'll
never locate it myself.

- There are dubious files in the package definition that can be trimmed:
   ie-ddraw-fix-bg.cmd
   sdb.cmd
   sdbu.cmd
   ddrawfix/readme.html

these icons always show up as tiny & ugly

map.pdf should be optional, unless if shown ingame (unlikely)

gog*.ico should be optional or trimmed out

PS: nice idea to work on a branch for this.

Bug#799760: debci: the basic local debci setup does not work

2015-09-29 Thread Tomasz Buchert
On 22/09/15 10:53, Tomasz Buchert wrote:
> [...]
>
> Am I doing something wrong?

The problem is that "debci setup" creates a schroot that defaults to
the use of aufs filesystem for overlaying. Aufs is not available in
Debian anymore, so this breaks:

$ sudo schroot --begin-session --chroot  debci-unstable-amd64
E: 10mount: mount: unknown filesystem type 'aufs'
E: debci-unstable-amd64-da117f74-4bad-47e7-8298-94cab3af7633: Chroot setup
failed: stage=setup-start

To actually fix it, change your schroot config (probably
/etc/schroot/chroot.d/debci-unstable-amd64) to say:

   union-type=overlay

instead of "union-type=aufs". After that it works.

This bug is more likely caused by schroot, but I leave it open since
the default description on-line fails.

Tomasz

Can you reproduce the problem of systemd looping too fast?
If so, could you try this patch:

Bug#780060: ITP: sleepyhead -- Software for sleep tracking with focus on CPAP treatment

2015-09-29 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Sergio,

I think this package is health related and thus a target for the Debian
Med team. Since we currently do not have a better task (category in
Blends terminilogy) the package might be mentioned in the tools task[1].
We might consider a new task like "therapy" or so.

I would recommend maintaining the package in the Debian Med team and use
our VCS (either Git or SVN at your preference). Here[2] you can find a
policy how to join the team and and what workflow we use.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

2015-09-29 Thread Alexandre Detiste
control: severity -1 wishlist

Hi,

The game-data-packager tool can create local packages for quake2-reckoning-data
& quake2-groundzero-data.

It can also rip the music from the CD.

Can you have a look and close this bug and 799954 if this works for you.

On IRC the question was raised, if random .pc files should really
contain -std=... ? What happens if you end up with multiple ones on the
same command line?

I'd prefer to have some input from our GCC maintainers on this issue.

 	Menus

- The Debian menu package provides a standard

- menu programs (either X window managers or
- text-based menu programs such as pdmenu).
+ Packages shipping applications that comply with minimal requirements
+ described below for integration with desktop environments should
+ register these applications in the desktop menu, following the
+ FreeDesktop standard, using text files called
+ desktop entries. Their format is described in the
+ Desktop Entry Specification at
+ http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/";>
+ and complementary information can be found in the

- All packages that provide applications that need not be
- passed any special command line arguments for normal
- operation should register a menu entry for those
- applications, so that users of the menu package
- will automatically get menu entries in their window
- managers, as well in shells like pdmenu.
+ The desktop entry files are installed by the packages in the
+ directory /usr/share/applications and the FreeDesktop
+ menus are refreshed using dpkg triggers. It is therefore
+ not necessary to depend on packages providing FreeDesktop menu
+ systems.

- Menu entries should follow the current menu policy.
+ Entries displayed in the FreeDesktop menu should conform to the
+ following minima for relevance and visual integration.
+
+
+
+ Unless hidden by default, the desktop entry must point to a PNG

+ the 22×22 size, and preferably up to 64×64. The icon
+ should be neutral enough to integrate well with the default icon

+
+
+
+ If the menu entry is not useful in the general case as a

+ configured to be displayed only by those who need it.
+
+
+
+ In doubt, the package maintainer should coordinate with the

Note that we already have a few .pc files in the archive which force
-std=.

AFAIK, the last one is used. That could indeed by an issue.

Bug#373846: [Aptitude-devel] Bug#373846: aptitude: Resolving dependencies uses all system memory

2015-09-29 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Hello,

2015-09-27 15:41 Francois Gouget:

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.11-1+b1
Followup-For: Bug #373846

Dear Maintainer,

I am running into this problem too. I have been trying to upgrade my Debian
Testing
system for the past three weeks to no avail. The problem is that the libstdc++6
library
The problem is that the libstdc++6 library is creating a ton of conflicts so
that typing
'e' to get to the conflict resolution dialog causes aptitude to use up all the
memory
(over 10GB) until it gets killed. As a result I have been unable to upgrade my
system
for the past three weeks, resulting in more and more packages being upgradable,
which
gets aptitude in a worse spot each time.

I am afraid that unstable and testing at the moment might still not be
ready to upgrade fully, specially if you have KDE packages installed and
you don't want to loose some of them. I imagine that the situation can
be similar if you use other desktop environments or applications high in
the stack.

I don't know how are you upgrading and if you are aware of the
following, but just in case it helps...

It usually helps to get aptitude unstuck in these situations if you
start aptitude interactively, select by hand packages to upgrade (with
+), press 'e' to enter the resolution if there are conflicts and select
one if satisfactory, or not select any, quit the resolver and and press
Control-U to undo if the first few solutions are not satisfactory.

Cheers.

 * select them and right click
 * click 'trash data and remove from list'
 * crash (data gets removed)

This happens both using the desktop application and the web interface.

best regards.

This is why I have tried to encourage bug reporters to provide full
information about their games, including multiple hashes (for better
ability to match up files between multiple reports), and all the files
that might possibly be useful in the CD/installation/whatever. If we
have more information than we strictly need from someone who owns
Hypothetical Monkey Island in Esperanto on 5½" disks, we can leave some
of it out of the .yaml; but if we don't have enough information, we
can't discover it without access to that (version of the) game.

Bug#799056: [buildd-tools-devel] Bug#799056: [PATCH] Add --source-only flag for only building the source package

2015-09-29 Thread Miguel A . Colón Vélez
Hello:

Here is the implementation of the suggestion I mentioned in the
previous message. I tested it using:
- "-s --no-arch-all --no-arch-any"
- "-As --no-arch-any"

and it produced the desired results..

The first two patches are the ones related to this wishlist bug while
the optional third patch is related to the points raised in this bug
report about possible confusions.

- The first patch adds new options to only manipulate BUILD_ARCH_ANY.
It only changes one parameter so the behavior is more intuitive.
- The second patch adds support for source only builds. The current
code only handled all.changes and $arch.changes and ignored the
source.changes file. It also adds "source" to the email subject to
notify that it was a source only build.
- The third patch is optional and unrelated but as mentioned before
tackles the concerns raised earlier.

Cheers,
Miguel

Yes I know, I do that on dropbear already :-) Also in my first mail to
upstream I asked them to consider publishing detached signatures along
with the tarballs (although I didn't know it was possible to do it with
GitHub). In the meantime I added d/upstream/signing-key.asc so the
world can check signatures on upstream's Git tags against the same key
that I use. Signed Git tags is so much better than no signature at all

it's great you can reproduce it! could you please install
transmission-dbg and run the failing process in gdb (so I imagine 'gdb
transmission-qt') do your crashing magic and then in the gbd console
run "bt" / "bt full" / "thread apply all bt" (those are 3 different
commands to run one after another) and report the output here? I will
then forward upstream for debug & fixing.

Which contains the requirements for the XDG entry, one of those being
the icon. If the upstream part does not contain a suitable icon, then
removing the XDG entry and any relevant icon shipped in the debian/
directory makes the application obviously non-compliant.

For a menu supporter who packages applications for their own use,
I'd presume it would be obvious that making them inaccessible from
their non-XDG compliant environment makes no sense.

Sure, and that's still terrible policy, and self-conflicting at best with
the rest of the decision.

(Whatever happened to letting technical solutions win or loose for their
own merits, and from work or lack thereof from supporters, instead of by
letting a big broken hammer fall in slow-motion on them…)

W/o anyone to implement this in the menu programs, this is just wishful
thinking, and might leave big chunks of our users with inaccessible
applications. On either side of the fence.

So it feels like "let's make a mess, and hope someone else cleans it up
for us when they get sufficiently annoyed".

> and _can_ be completed for the range of

I don't have a horse in this race except for wanting Debian to be sound,
I just think the decision is very poor. I'm also not trying to discuss
how this should end up in policy. As I've mentioned several times now,
as long as the policy process is overrun by the TC, I've got no
motivation to get properly involved in it. Clearly someone else has
decided to do the job.

> In the light of the TC decision, I would personally consider a package

To me this is the equivalent of a package with suitable applications
for the XDG menu, not currently shipping an XDG entry. So now you
declare all those insta buggy as well.

Exactly my point. This is the equivalent of mandating that the Debian
Future Team should design and implement an FTL engine, where of course
the TC has not engaged in any design work. This to me fails §6.3.5.

I did some refactor of the package, and I guess now at least the two
bugs #800238 and #288603 are fixed, meaning that we use a newer compat
level and a clean packaging style.

How do you feel about uploading it?

After booting the kernel image provided by this package and attempting
to connect to the Internet, network access doesn't actually work. The
message "nf_conntrack: table full, dropping packet" is repeatedly
logged.

Comparing the contents of the various /proc/sys conntrack files between
a working 4.1 kernel (from linux-image-4.1.0-2-amd64) and the broken
4.2, the only difference I see is that nf_conntrack_count has a value
"-5". Yes, negative 5. /proc/net/stat/nf_conntrack's "entries" column
matches this with a value of fffb. /proc/net/nf_conntrack is empty
on the 4.2 kernel, while it has a handful of expected entries on 4.1.

I have iptables rules set up by shorewall on this machine, including
configuration to forward/masq traffic on the interface used by vde2, in
case that helps reproduce this. Removing all the iptables rules and
removing the nf_conntrack_ipv4 module (and everything that depends on
it, of course) stops the error. Disabling shorewall at boot allows
network functionality and starting shorewall later didn't immediately
cause the problem, but in some experimentation after the system locked
up.

To be fair, I looked into libthai and libdatrie when I first proposed
the patches for the switch from DirectFB to X.org back in early 2010. It
seemed Thai support was OK without those, so we decided to skip them.
I'm not sure it's worth adding them now. I'm with Theppitak
Karoonboonyanan on this: if support in d-i is sufficient for people to
actually install Debian without that, maybe we can keep the current
situation as it is.

i've uploaded hydrogen-drumkits_2015.09.28-1 to unstable (currently
lingering in NEW), which has re-evaluated the licenses for all
included drumkits (and dropped the drumkits of dubious
license/provenience).

the new package also has an updated debian/copyright (following dep5)
that lists all licenses of the included kits.

The package seems to work, but the test case needs some
tweaks to work with more recent SSL libs (patch attached).

Hi

That's right, that's why make-template is shipped in the .deb;
so end-users can use it without having to mess with git.

I'm sorry, but I feel I'm missing something between the lines.
Do you mean it's wrong to drop the *.exe in make-template ?

Alexandre

No sound after upgrade pulseaudio 7.0-1,
when I run alsamixer:

ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect:
Protocol error

cannot open mixer: Connection refused

Could you please attach a verbose log of pulseaudio[1] and then reproduce this?

Also, does pavucontrol work or only alsamixer fails?

Here are better instructions provided by upstream[1], if you could
post the information it would be great.

First, install libpulse0-dbg, pulseaudio-utils-dbg and gdb. Then
follow the steps described by upstream:

% PULSE_LOG=99 gdb --args pactl stat

That will print something like this:

You're now in the gdb prompt. Enter "break pa_memimport_get". That
symbol hasn't yet been loaded, so gdb asks you whether to add the
breakpoint when the symbol becomes available. Answer "y". Then enter
"run". The execution should soon stop at the breakpoint. From now on
enter "n" ("n" is short for "next") repeatedly until the program exits
(that will take quite some time). When the program exits, you can quit
gdb with command "quit", and then save all the terminal output and
attach it here. That should show the exact place that fails.

Bug#707851: Debian Menu Systems : Implementation of the TC decision

Two points here:
* so far, both in the Policy and during the TC discussion, these "menu
supporters" have been _mostly_ hypothetical;
* these entries would be absent as long as the "menu program" fail to
properly use the 'XDG menu' entries, that's the point of the TC
decision.

Yes. That's exactly the point: the work to keep the 'trad menu' relevant
is to be made by those who care about it.

Not anymore buggy than with the previous "trad menu" policy (§9.6 in
3.9.6), for what is worth: it said:
> All packages that provide applications that need not be passed any

Large parts of Debian have been buggy under this text, for a long time.

I obviously disagree, but invite you to challenge this decision in
forums other than the debian-policy list.

Second, the TC has not mandated any work to any particular team: it
changed the ecosystem in which the 'trad menu' programs evolve. Mind
you, program ecosystems evolve all the time; 'trad menu's was relying on
the Debian Policy mandating entries for all applications "that need not
be passed any special command line arguments", the TC decision drops
that requirement.

The attached untested patch should in principle do it. In any case the
available file is only ever up-to-date when using dselect. If it's too
slow, this should be fixed in libdpkg-perl anyway as that would benefit
every caller.

Nothing gets logged as far as I know. This renders the events API unusable on
Jessie.

Upstreams had an issue for this:

Would it be possible to have a patch for this so we can use this API on stable?

Thanks,

I have not yet looked at the actual patch applied here, but please note
that for versions of OpenSSH earlier than 6.5p1 (thus, squeeze and
wheezy) there is a gotcha: you need the additional patch from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1485719. If you
didn't include that then I think you need to issue a follow-up advisory.

thanks for the info. Sorry for the delay in fixing openssh in
squeeze-lts. I just uploaded 5.5p1-6+squeeze7, that fixes the issue.

Bug#798731: dpkg: broken dependency calculation when removing packages

2015-09-29 Thread Branislav Zahradník
Hi Julian,

ok, taking last example:
command:
apt-get remove libgpgme++2

reported actions to do:
- install libreoffice-base-drivers
- remove gnome libreoffice
- upgrade libreoffice-base-drivers

well, it makes no sence to me.

more, executing commands:
apt-get remove libqpgme1
- action remove libqpgme1
apt-get remove libgpgme++2
- action remove libqpgme++2

processed both only with removing given package, leaving system in
different (proposed) state as first command without removing libqpgme1
manually.

Therefor I believe that there is a bug somewhere.

Best regards,
Brano

For every package APT will upgrade that is not specified on the
commandline, it will say "extra packages will be installed" (in
fact, for any package that will be installed/upgraded that is
not mentioned on the command-line).

This is ~slightly~ incorrect, but I don't see why you are confused,
as it can obviously do only one of those things.

And please do not top post.

No sound after upgrade pulseaudio 7.0-1,
 when I run alsamixer:

Hm, strange, I don't see any program output there. What does `pactl
stat` say (without the gdb part) ? Also, please also answer the other
questions I sent, to determine if it is the same bug or not.
