Bug#784293: vsftpd: unable to set FTP root directory

2015-05-05 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
reassign 784293 debconf 1.5.56
retitle 784293 debconf -- vsftpd: unable to set FTP root directory
thanks

Hello Dmitry,

thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this
bug report.

I have checked the templates file. It looks ok. So I think the error
comes from debconf.

Bug#784289: [pkg-gnupg-maint] Bug#784289: gnupg 2.1 and gnome-keyring no longer interoperate

2015-05-05 Thread Werner Koch
On Tue, 5 May 2015 01:38, sand...@crustytoothpaste.net said:

> spawned to prompt the user. It appears the socket has moved, and
> symlinking the socket indicates that GnuPG has intentionally broken

It has not been broken but since 2.0.23 gpg detects that GKR hijacks the
connection and causes all kind of troubles including security
weaknesses.

Note that even 2.0 can be configured to use a fixed socket like 2.1
does:

  --use-standard-socket
  --no-use-standard-socket

By enabling this option gpg-agent will listen on the socket named
'S.gpg-agent', located in the home directory, and not create a
random socket below a temporary directory. Tools connecting to
gpg-agent should first try to connect to the socket given in
environment variable GPG_AGENT_INFO and then fall back to this
socket. This option may not be used if the home directory is
mounted on a remote file system which does not support special files
like fifos or sockets. Note, that --use-standard-socket is the
default on Windows systems. The default may be changed at build
time. It is possible to test at runtime whether the agent has been
configured for use with the standard socket by issuing the command
gpg-agent --use-standard-socket-p which returns success if the
standard socket option has been enabled.

> Please decide to which package this bug belongs, assign it accordingly,
> and fix it.

It has been told enough times that this is GKR bug. Given that the GNOME
folks are not willing to fix that we are preparing changes to the GnuPG
system which should allow them to remove that hijacking and instead
install a new kind of Pinentry which implements what GKR should have
done.

Salam-Shalom,

   Werner

Something is really not right here: even if the selected locale
en_GB.utf8 doesn't work on your system, LC_ALL=C is not something that
should ever fail.

gnome-terminal has had locale-related issues before (not starting
reliably in non-UTF8 locales) so this might be something similar?

Bug#784310: apt update always fails on experimental/non-free

2015-05-05 Thread Cesare Leonardi
Package: apt
Version: 1.0.9.9
Severity: normal

Since months i have an error during the apt update phase, always on
experimental/non-free. Initially i thought it was a temporary mirror
problem, because changing the repository the error went away.
But when in the next days i was doing another update, the error came back,
even with the changed mirror.

It happens on at least two machine of mine, an i386 and an amd64 arch, with
substantially the same sources.list and i think it started to show this
behaviour at the same time.
And it happens with aptitude too.

Apart from sources.list, i think i've never changed nothing from default
apt setup.

Try these steps, to me are always reproducible:
- Take my sources.list.
- If you are currently using the same mirror like mine, change it.
- apt update
- Look that no error are displayed: everything is correctly updated.
- Rerun: apt update
- Here i see an "Err" line on experimental/non-free Packages.

So when you change mirror and update for the first time you get no error.
And that's why in the past i thought was a mirror problem: because changing
mirror the error apparently went away.
But on subsequently updates the error is always present.

Because words have a meaning. :)

How many packages would it break?

If you can find a synonym for replace, we can add a new action and then
deprecate "replace".

But keeping replace when it doesn't only replace files is bad IMO.

Bug#784311: rsync: quit mode not qiet enough

2015-05-05 Thread Ralf Neubauer
Package: rsync
Version: 3.1.1-3
Severity: minor

After upgrading to jessie I get spammed by cron by an rsync job:

rsync -avPq --delete-after --bwlimit=5 /local/path server:remote/path

The mails appear as empty, so I assumed there is a single newline or so.
Putting a | grep . behind the rsync command works around the problem.

According to the man page --quiet is specifically made for cron jobs. This
doesn't work as advertized.

FWIW, I'm perfectly aware of this but I want the tracker to be useful
for derivatives too and as such there is some duplication in the context
of Debian.

Maybe if dak was more derivative friendly, it could be avoided but right
now a large majority of the derivatives use reprepro and that feature
in tracker.debian.org is thus useful.

I'm not opposed to disabling the plugin which extracts those files on
tracker.debian.org and to replacing it with a Debian-specific plugin but I
don't plan on working on this myself.

You seem to keep confusing libcurl for a web browser. It's not (unless you
decide for whatever reason to build one yourself on top of it). "Adverts and
images on web sites" are of no concern to curl developers (not to mention that
adverts would probably require their own additional OCSP requests...).

At worse, major certificate authorities get The IP address of every user
connecting to most websites using TLS.

And? Just because there are other ways to fuck you over it doesn't mean it's ok
to add yet another one. Not to mention that it's much easier for, say, law
enforcement, to randomly fish for "criminals" by requesting information from a
few big CAs, then do the same for every website and ISP.

How does this have anything to do with OCSP?

So? No one is going to make a decision based on what you, a single user out of
a few million ones, do.

Anyway, you forgot the part where the OCSP server is not responding because
someone is intercepting and blocking your OCSP requests. Or actively DDoSing
the OCSP server.

curl *is* built againt GnuTLS as of a couple of days ago, and no, this didn't
magically add support for OCSP as you seem to think.

GnuTLS (like most other TLS libraries) supports creating OCSP requests, but you
also need to send them (e.g. ocsptool in gnutls-bin implements its own HTTP
client) and then verify that the response is valid. None of this is automatic.

Also, how exactly do wget and lynx support OCSP? Because AFAICT they don't (they
don't even support OCSP stapling).

Bug#784282: [DAViCal-devel] Bug#784282: davical: Sync not working after upgrading from wheezy to jessie on iOS

2015-05-05 Thread Ján Máté
Hi Sven,

the hide_TODO options was a temporary fix for people who use one calendar
collection for VEVENT and also VTODOS (few years ago).
This approach NOT works anymore with new iOS/OSX (it forces user to use
different collection for VEVENTS and VTODOS).

So the reason why this options was created has gone and there is really NO
reason to use it. Changing it REQUIRES to disable and re-enable
your CalDAV account on iOS, because a config change cannot create calendar
sychronization tokens (the reason why you still see these todos).

The reason why it may work with other clients is that these use WebDAV
synchronization (instead of real CalDAV synchronization /iOS, OS X, CalDavZAP,
.../).

Bug#784292: quagga: ospf6d no loner updates route after upgrade to Jessie

2015-05-05 Thread Christian Brunotte
Hello

Can you please explain the problem on the Quagga users mailing list
(https://lists.quagga.net/mailman/listinfo/quagga-users) and attach
the (anonymized) config files? My IPv6 & OSPF knowledge is not
good enough to help you myself :)

It would be helpful if you could give 0.99.24.2 from Debian testing a try,
the .deb package should currently be installable fine on Jessie as Testing
still has the same library versions as Jessie:
  https://packages.debian.org/stretch/quagga

Best regards,

-christian-

FYI, this bug now affects the current stable release (jessie), since
2.9.2+dfsg1-1 didn't go into jessie due to an even worse bug.

On my side, while this bug was an important regression, I solved it by
adding --noent (which was actually what I really wanted).

Anyway the previous behavior was also a bit incorrect (with a security
issue, fixed by 2.9.1+dfsg1-4), seen without --noout.

EXIT is posix compatible. you really should change the shell to be posix
compatible rather than changing all programs to expect a subset of poxix
shell.
   http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/95399/utilities/trap.html

EXIT is supported by dash ... I have just tested the script below and it
works as expected on all Debian release since at least wheezy.

I think its not supported in the static busybox that is in debian
initramfs.

Not sure, but I think that was the problem.

Scott, you are correct, the issue is in early boot using busybox within
the initramfs.

I'm ok with having the issue fixed in Stretch for adding support for
EXIT in busybox, but as you know, it will be a lot more difficult to fix
the issue in Jessie and Wheezy, so I think it's better to just keep the
patch to not use EXIT.

What's the problem for applying the patch upstream? Don't you think that
other distribution may as well have the issue? Shouldn't we just try to
stay on the safe side here?

Perhaps you shouldn't use the -v (VERBOSE) option then? :-)
Of the -P option which is an alias for --partial --progress (--progress

Bug#783798: settings configured in /etc/default/ are not retained

Yup. That's exactly what I'm talking about. Valid and supported setup
which worked for years breaks once init system changes. It is really
trivial to honour the settings in /etc/default/ without breaking
existing setups.

> The correct way to modify your settings is
> to edit /etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json anyway. You can change
> all desired configuration options there.

Unfortunately this does not work. It requires this file to be writable
by the user transmission-daemon is running as, or else the daemon can't
save the file. In particular, new version brings new settings which we'll
never know about if the daemon can't save this file.

Making this file writable also requires that whole /etc is writable,
which makes it impossible to keep root filesystem mounted read-only,
which is quite common practice especially on systems which faces
network 24x7.

There was a standard supported way to stop all these problems completely,
by moving whole home directory including the settings file to alternative
place, just by giving another value to the daemon (--config-dir option).
Now it doesn't work anymore, breaking existing setup and making it
unsupported.

> In my opinion
> this is not a bug but just the way it is intended by upstream.

Upstream provides --config-dir option for a reason. Debian package
had it configurable for ages, and systemd integration already uses
this option but with a fixed value. The only tiny step left is to
connect the two pieces together, this is what I'm talking about.

Thanks,

Oops. I just trusted my 8 years old command line, which might have been wrong

But may I add that this combination of options is semantically strange, but the
behavior changed between versions nonetheless? Perhaps there is a single printf
not depending on !--quiet...

Bug#784317: ITP: python-configargparse -- this should be an appropriate short description for the eventual package: replacement for argparse allowing options to also be set via config files and/or env

2015-05-05 Thread Sebastien Delafond
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sebastien Delafond

* Package name: python-configargparse
  Version : 0.9.3
  Upstream Author : Zorro
* URL : https://github.com/zorro3/ConfigArgParse
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : replacement for argparse allowing options to also be set
via config files and/or environment variables

Applications with more than a handful of user-settable options are best
configured through a combination of command line args, config files,
hard-coded defaults, and in some cases, environment variables.
.
Python’s command line parsing modules like argparse have very limited
support for config files and environment variables, so this module
extends argparse to add these features.
.
Features:
.
 - command-line, config file, env var, and default settings can now be
defined, documented, and parsed in one go using a single API (the
order of precedence is: command line args > environment variables >
   config file values > defaults)
 - config files can have .ini or .yaml style syntax (eg. key=value or
   key: value)
 - user can specify a config file path using regular command line syntax
   (eg. -c config.txt) rather than the argparse-style @config.txt
 - all argparse functionality is fully supported, so this module can
serve as a drop-in replacement for argparse
 - env vars and config file keys & syntax are automatically documented
   in the help message
 - print_values() can be used to log values and their sources
(eg. command line, env var, config file, or default) for improved
   reproducibility
 - lite-weight (simple API, no dependencies on 3rd-party libraries),
 - extensible (the following methods can be over-ridden to change config
file and environment variable parsing: parse_config_file,
   get_possible_config_keys, convert_setting_to_command_line_arg)
 - unittested using the tests that came with argparse, and using tox to
   test python versions >= 2.7

The last comment in the upstream bug report is from 2011. Do you have any
indication that upstream is still working on this? Is there any timeline?

I am still very tempted to remove this from testing now so guile-1.8 can go

Bug#784318: gnome-desktop3: please make the build reproducible

Hi!

While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed
that gnome-desktop3 could not be built reproducibly.

The attached patch will allow GNOME_DATE to be set externally and
use the latest debian/changelog entry as reference date. Once
applied, gnome-desktop3 can be built reproducibly in our current
experimental framework.

Bug#784262: linux-image-3.16.0-4-686-pae: System hangs at poweroff command

2015-05-05 Thread Ruben Vorderman

Dear mr. Hutchings,

Thank you for your fast and kind response.

> Try suspending, it generally works these days.

Thanks for your suggestion. But this uncovered another bug: suspending
also does not work. Again this might be systemd so I used "systemctl
suspend" in recovery mode. Again the console showed systemd freezing all
processes as it should. The system was left hanging at the moment the
kernel should take over. When restarting I found that my system was not
suspended, so I think it is not only the AHCI signal that is not working.

If you need any more information to squash this bug I am happy to
provide it.

Yours sincerely,
Ruben Vorderman

First of all /etc/transmission/settings.json is a symlink to
/var/lib/transmission-daemon/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json.
The /etc symlink is only for the user's convenience because system-wide
configuration should be possible in /etc but of course you can always
edit settings.json directly. If you change the file permissions to
read-only and diverge from the default settings, you are still
responsible that services work as expected. This is not a packaging
issue but the core duty of every administrator.

The old version in wheezy didn't even create a valid home directory but
the new one is now set to /var/lib/transmission-daemon. There you can
change all your configuration options. If you really want to use the
--config-dir option and override the settings you have to create a
custom systemd service file and save it to
/etc/systemd/system/transmission-daemon.service. Just append the
--config-dir option to the ExecStart line, restart the service and it is
done.

I am not the maintainer of transmission, but in my opinion there is
nothing wrong with the packaging of transmission-daemon. If you make
custom changes, you are also responsible for all further configuration.
There is no automatic way to detect all corner cases and it is trivial
to create a custom systemd service file and to adjust it to your needs.

Markus

Subject: [PATCH v4.0 for testing] nbd: Fix timeout detection
Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2015 09:35:33 +0200

At the moment the nbd timeout just detects hanging tcp operations. This
is not enough to detect a hanging or bad connection as expected of a
timeout.

This patch redesigns the timeout detection to include some more cases.
The timeout is now in relation to replies from the server. If the server
does not send replies within the timeout the connection will be shut
down.

The patch adds a continous timer 'timeout_timer' that is setup in one of
two cases:
 - The request list is empty and we are sending the first request out to
the server. We want to have a reply within the given timeout,
otherwise we consider the connection to be dead.
 - A server response was received. This means the server is still
communicating with us. The timer is reset to the timeout value.

The timer is not stopped if the list becomes empty. It will just trigger
a timeout which will directly leave the handling routine again as the
request list is empty.

The whole patch does not use any additional explicit locking. The
list_empty() calls are safe to be used concurrently. The timer is locked
internally as we just use mod_timer and del_timer_sync().

The patch is based on the idea of Michal Belczyk with a previous
different implementation.

Bug#746005: Message from upstream

2015-05-05 Thread David Kastrup

Hi,

I'm probably the LilyPond developer most involved with GUILE 2.0
migration and I'm pretty annoyed at the current situation and the manner
GUILE developers deal with it.

Several months back even Richard Stallman intervened and stressed the
importance of getting LilyPond moved to GUILE 2.0. Like several times
before, GUILE developers promised to get actively involved only to drop
out of the discussion once they were provided with instructions, an
up-to-date branch/source to work with and current problem descriptions.

The current situation is such that 2.0 garbage collection API is
unreliable (see GUILE bug report
http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=19883> with the basic
recommendation "don't try using the smob mark mechanism any more" but no
real resolution). It may well be that the current workarounds
implemented in LilyPond may be successful.

However, this is hard to test since there is _no_ released version of
GUILE 2.0 where the encoding problems in issues
http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=20200> (workaround in
LilyPond codebase, will get fixed in 2.0.12) and
http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=20209> (workaround in
LilyPond codebase, will get fixed in 2.0.12) and
http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=20302> (unfixed so
far, and since this usage _was_ already a workaround for previous
problems and reverting back to the old code does not work either, this
remains a roadblock) have been addressed.

With the ongoing trail of suggested workarounds failing for new reasons,
there has not been the possibility to actually get to the stage where it
would be possible to do any serious testing with GUILE 2.0, like running
the regtest suite. So it is very likely that there are more surprises
lurking (particularly regarding garbage collection) once the GUILE
developers get around to fixing the pending bugs in the bytevector
stream port implementation. Or get around to actually following on
their promises and try working on figuring out why the old workarounds
for getting GUILE reproduce a byte stream stopped working.

But since they decided to break them anyway in GUILE 2.1 it would likely
make more sense to make the "please use bytevectors for this from now
on" approach actually work and then let LilyPond switch to this
mechanism once there is a working version of GUILE released with them.

By the way: I was of the impression that TeXmacs did not work with
GUILE 2.0 either. Has this changed? Is it also going to get removed
from Debian?

It has not been broken but since 2.0.23 gpg detects that GKR hijacks the

weaknesses.

This intentional regression is not acceptable and must be fixed in the
Debian GnuPG package.

Thanks, you just broke remote $HOME configurations, just to piss off
GNOME keyring developers. This is antisocial behavior.

It has been told enough times that this is GKR bug. Given that the GNOME
folks are not willing to fix that we are preparing changes to the GnuPG
system which should allow them to remove that hijacking and instead
install a new kind of Pinentry which implements what GKR should have
done.

This should have been done first.

Bug#784320: request-tracker4: test suite: skipping on exeternal executable fails?

2015-05-05 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
Source: request-tracker4
Version: 4.2.10-1

Yesterday request-tracker4 was FTBFS; this was caused by File::Which
behaviour changing, breaking the detection of executables in RT::Test.
A fixed version of File::Which is on its way to the archive now, but
this shouldn't really have broken things so badly. The behaviour was,
AFAICT, identical to the executable just being missing, so it looks
like there is a bug in the test suite too. Example output:

# Tests were run but no plan was declared and done_testing() was not seen.
t/crypt/gnupg/attachments-in-db.t .. skipped: gpg
executable is required.

[...]

Test Summary Report
---
t/crypt/gnupg/attachments-in-db.t(Wstat: 65024 Tests: 1 Fail
ed: 1)
  Failed test: 1
  Non-zero exit status: 254
Parse errors: Bad plan. You planned 0 tests but ran 1.

Filing in the BTS initially as I haven't yet tried to reproduce it on
a vanilla RT.

Bug#714058: cc65 packaging

2015-05-05 Thread Oliver Schmidt
Hi,

The man pages could be generated with help2man, or they could point to

It seems that
linuxdoc -B txt --man <...>
groff -man <...>
might be another option. As far as I remember Ullrich did that in former
times. If someone tests it I'd be willing to add it to
https://github.com/cc65/cc65/blob/master/doc/Makefile

On the other hand, Oliver promised me to

I can confirm this.

Bug#784321: dovecot: lz4 in zlib plugin not enabled

2015-05-05 Thread Michael Braun
Source: dovecot
Severity: normal

When trying to enable lz4 compression in the zlib plugin as given in
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/Zlib
dsync and dovecot complain about lz4 support missing.

As the dovecot package does not depend on lz4 and --with-lz4 is not used
during compile, lz4 support is actually missing in dovecot.

I hoped this to be present, as it was added in 2.2.11.

Bug#784323: gem2deb: generates broken debian/ruby-tests.rake by default

2015-05-05 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: gem2deb
Version: 0.14
Severity: minor

Hi,

By default, gem2deb generates a debian/ruby-tests.rake that looks like:
Gem2Deb::Rake::TestTask.new do |t|
   t.test_files = FileList['test/**/*_test.rb']
end

This breaks with net-ssh, that names its tests test_*.rb

It could also make sense to set "libs" to something sensible.

So maybe it should generate something such as:

Gem2Deb::Rake::TestTask.new do |t|
   t.libs = ["lib", "test"]
   t.test_files = FileList['test/**/*_test.rb'] FileList['test/**/test_*.rb']
end

?

Similar problem this morning. I've found that using xrandr to disable
and re-enable the DisplayPort output I'm using helps - the display
comes back. Until xrandr segfaults, anyway - see separate bug.

Something weird in the card state, I guess?

Hi!

While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed
that kde-workspace could not be built reproducibly.

The attached patch—based on Git master—adds a patch to make
the output of kdm confproc.pl stable. Once applied,
kde-workspace can be built reproducibly in our current experimental
framework.

I've forwarded the bug report to maria-developers and had no objections to
this, so I've added this link to the packages in git. As I don't think
this justifies a new upload during the freeze, I'm not going to mark the
bug as pending for now.

Daniel Schepler

Hello,
we are migrating our ruby application servers to jessie we bumped into this.

The ruby mysql2 gem tries to locate mysql_config on compilication and fails.

I think this is a relatively safe fix for jessie and could be included in the
first point release. There are a lot of things out there expecting to find
a mysql_config and this could ease some of the pain.

What do you think?

Sounds likely. If this still happens with linux 4.0, can you report
this upstream at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=DRI&component=DRM%2fRadeon
and let us know the bug number?

This was an upgrade from debian wheezy to jessie and a report (as

Please do it then to confirm which commit should be considered a

Bug#781766: sysvinit should depend on initscripts for a functional /lib/sysvinit/init

The sysvinit package (as shipped in jessie) was mostly intended as a
transitional measure when upgrading from wheezy to jessie.
I tried to make that clear also in the package description.

Keep in mind, that when installing jessie from scratch, there will be no
/etc/inittab. This means, installing the sysvinit package (in parallel
to systemd-sysv) will not result in a bootable system via
init=/lib/sysvinit/init.

Now, if there is desire to make the sysvinit package useful beyond the
wheezy -> jessie upgrade, someone would have to deal with this inittab
problem first, I think.

Bug#714058: cc65 packaging

Iff everything else is settled regarding packaging (incl. licensing) I'll
reach out to the list members and ask for last-minute contribtions. If that
phase is over I'll add a tag to the Git repo.

If possible update the file LICENSE as well to be zlib
> and GPL-2 as you previously noted.

There must be a misunderstanding!

I made a statement about _my_ contributions to cc65. I don't know who else
has contributed to cc65 before I started to maintain the upstream repo. In
fact I personally don't see how an exhaustive list of contributors can be
archived. And without acknowledgement from _all_ contributors I don't see
me changing _anything_ regarding the file LICENSE.

Oliver

Is there some technical issue with them pulling the package from o-p-u,
or do they just not want to?

Most likely, /etc/adjtime was configured to use local time and you ran
into [1]. In systemd, we avoid that error by skipping the file system
check if already done in the initramfs [2].
I think sysvinit should do the same and test for the flag files created
by initramfs-tools [3].

I upgraded to 0.99.24-2 from testing but it was not resolved.

This is the output of 'show ipv6 ospf6 database' command on vtysh (backbone

Note that the routing table only has local routes.

As ospf6d is in "beta" state according to Quagga's release announcements,
it could become broken in version 0.99.23. If I could have free time, I
would examine what were changed in ospf6d in 0.99.23.

Bug#784327: python-moinmoin: should (and be adapted to and) recommend ckeditor (not fckeditor)

2015-05-05 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: python-moinmoin
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

fckeditor has been removed from Jessie, yet is recommended by
python-moinmoin.

One of the RC bugs against fckeditor - bug#758897 - indicates that
ckeditor is a successor, so hopefully python-moinmoin can be adapted to
use that instead.

Bug#784328: fvwm (2.6.5) does not detect hotkeys

2015-05-05 Thread Claude Krantz

Package: fvwm
Version: 1:2.6.5.ds-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

As of FVWM 2.6.5 provided by Debian 8 (jessie) the hotkey events defined in
~./fvwm2rc do not seem to be detected anymore.

My fvwm2rc is pretty generic and has worked unchanged since woody. The recent
dist-upgrade from wheezy (fvwm 2.5.30) to jessie (fvwm 2.6.5) broke
hotkey detection for me. I realised that I could no longer move across the
virtual desktop using my predefined keys (Shift-Ctrl-Arrows). I tried to
change the event assignment to different key combinations in fvwm2rc, to no
effect. The relevant snippet of my fvwm2rc is attached. While this bug does not
render fvwm completely non-functional, it does reduce the usability of the
window manager significantly - hence I consider this an important issue.

Workaround:

Manual downgrade of fvwm using the package from wheezy (fvwm_2.5.30.ds-1.1)
solves the problem. Presently I keep fvwm pinned at that version as a workaround
of the bug. All my other packages are from jessie (i386).

Other observations:

I do have fvwm 2.6.5 installed on FreeBSD with an almost identical fvwm2rc and,
there, hotkeys do work. I therefore believe the bug is specific to Debian/jessie
and does not go upstream.

Yours,

Claude

Can you give me some more details for trying to repoduce the problem?

For example, which architecture are you using, which kernel. Anyways
.. also you command definition could help.

Thanks, Jan.

> lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   12 Apr 29 10:34 libudev.so.1 -> libudev.so.0

So for someone who finds this, don't do this, this is WRONG. The libs are
named the way they are for a purpose, because symbols in libudev.so.0 are
not compatible with these in libudev.so.1 and so on. Sometimes such symlinking
makes some executable to start so seemingly this smells like a solution, but
it is quite possible that this executable will just crash when asked to do
something real. Sometimes this doesn't work at all.

This has nothing to do with upgrade from wheezy to jessie really. You have
locally installed alternative libusb-1.0.so.0. This library is not recorded
in the dpkg database so apt/dpkg doesn't know about it and doesn't know
that it needs libudev.so.0. This is a library you installed manually.

The solution is to either install libudev0 package to make your libusb-1.0 to
work (and maybe record that libudev0 is needed so it wont be removed by a
chance), or, better yet, just remove your libusb-1.0, because jessie comes
with its own, most likely never version, and together with support.

Your situation is rare, because it is uncommon to install 3rd party libraries
like this, and even less common to come across such an issue.

But the "solution" you offered is _wrong_.

Thanks,

/mjt

Bug#618862: systemd: ignores keyscript in crypttab

2015-05-05 Thread GW

Hello,

In case someone else needs it, a workaround for the common
use case of using the `decrypt_derived` keyscript to unlock partitions
is to save the derived key into a file on the encrypted partition that
you would otherwise derive from (make sure only root can access it).
This at least works for the encrypted root partition on which others
depend on and is as secure as using the decrypt_derived keyscript.

Bug#784329: bugs.debian.org does not (obviously) link to the UDD usertags list/search pages

2015-05-05 Thread Wookey
Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: normal

It is hard to find out which usertags exist.

UDD has a very handy page that lists them all:
http://udd.debian.org/cgi-bin/bts-usertags.cgi?user=&tag=*
(I'm sure I had a version of this page that didn't show all the
emails, which was nicer, but can't remember how to get that now)

Every time I need the info I spend 15 mins remembering where/how to
get it.

A link on the bugs.debian.org pages to 'list of usertags' would be
very handy.

Even more useful for people who know which tags interest them is the
search page:
http://udd.debian.org/cgi-bin/bts-usertags.cgi

(which should also have a link to the list but doesn't - only one to
all the users).

Maybe there is another way of finding this info, and maybe there is a
link I didn't find, but I think these pages could very usefully be
made much easier to find on the website. I hope you agree.

Looks like you're using a laptop keyboard and you're enabled the numlock

Uhm, I think you are taking this way too serious. I don't think that
anyone who ever contributed to cc65 besides Ullrich and John would not
agree to have the code fully covered under the Zlib license. And most
of the code was rewritten anyway according to Ullrich von Bassewitz and
all of what was rewritten was licensed under the Zlib.

If you are refusing to change the LICENSE file accordingly, we won't

Also the http redirection is not the cause as I get this with using

I though currently can't reproduce it on i386.

If this is a regression, what previous version was working correctly?
Does the problem only happen when you physically power off the
monitor? Does it come back ok when you let dpms kick in? How about
when you physically disconnect the monitor from the computer? Also,
what screensavers are you using? There may be a problematic GL
screensaver that's causing a GPU lockup. Can you try forcing a single
known stable screensaver?

Bug#714058: cc65 packaging

Then the first step is to ask everyone you (we?) know to allow the
relicensing of the whole cc65. This means all contributors of the code
who ever changed something in it, even a single character. Do others
like John R. Dunning or Ullrich von Bassewitz may have a full commit
history and/or list of the contributors over the years?
I'm _not_ a lawyer, but do we really need to reach everyone? Would it
be enough to ask only people who added their copyright messages in the
top of the files? I don't know if others can be counted as they left
the copyright to the actual source maintainer or not. At least I don't
see any sign that they claim any copyright of their contributions. The
LICENSE file states only the previous two coders have the copyright.
Not a single sentence mentions others who may have contributed to the
source.
Until this license issue is not solved, cc65 remains non-free from the
Debian point of view. :(

Laszlo/GCS

this is very interesting. So it doesn't seems that monitoring-plugins
does trigger it, as you uses the same package like on wheezy (just
linked against older libs).

It looks like you have installed libcap2-bin and using the
capabilities features of the kernel to run check_dhcp.
Maybe you can try to run check_dhcp on your shell as non-root user?
It's just a wild guess, but it may work on your root shell, cause your
higher privileges, but not from the worker, cause it has no privileges.

Thanks, Jan.

Bug#784331: bash: wrong backtick escaping on autocomplete

2015-05-05 Thread ygrex
Package: bash
Version: 4.3-12
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

interactive bash can escape one backtick properly, but not
if there are two backticks in a path

preparations:

$ mkdir /tmp/back\`tick
$ touch /tmp/back\`tick/back\`tick

then:

1. type in "stat /tmp/back" and press
2. a correct path is autocompleted as: "stat /tmp/back\`tick/"
3. press one more time
4. an invalid path appears on the command line: "stat /tmp/back`tick/back`tick"

notice that backslash removed when the second backtick appeared in a path

the expected behavior is protecting backticks with backslashes

You can get a list:

$ git clone g...@github.com:cc65/cc65.git
$ cd cc65
$ git log --all --format='%aN <%cE>' | sort -u

Exactly my point. If you _claim_ to have made a contribution but you
are credited nowhere and also don't show up in the commit history,
then there is absolute no way for you to prove your authorship and
hence it's pretty safe to just ask who is actually listed.

> At least I don't
> see any sign that they claim any copyright of their contributions. The
> LICENSE file states only the previous two coders have the copyright.

At least in Germany, you automatically obtain the copyright you made
for any contribution you made. So, in order to be absolutely super
correct, everyone would need to be added to the LICENSE file even
now as otherwise the LICENSE file would be incomplete and any of
the contributors could actually complain.

On the other hand, I don't think that there is anyone who insists
on their copyrights without having asked for their names to be
added to the LICENSE file.

So, again. Let's just ask everyone who has committed code according
to the above git log. And if we are really super-insisting on the
correctness, we can delay the whole process even more by asking
debian-legal again. But I don't think that anyone would want this.

After login in to the web interface of alioth you should find a link to
ask for membership. You will find it when going to

https://alioth.debian.org/projects/debian-science/

in the end of the list of members on the right.

Please provide a patch for the docs which seem to be clear to you. It
is sometimes hard for people to write docs who passed all this hurdles
long time ago.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

This is not authoritative. For example someone could sent an email to
Ullrich with his/her patch. As it was not commited by the contributor
but Ullrich, the person's identity is lost.
But well, the commit log can be a good starting point. May you Oliver
handle this?

Bug#783089: Workaround

2015-05-05 Thread jean-yves

Hi,

As a workaround, you can :

- Boot on the Debian CD
- Select Rescue
- Change to a terminal
- cd /tmp
- ar x
/cdrom/pool/main/l/linux/linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64_3.16.7-ckt7-1_amd64.deb

- xzcat data.tar.xz
- cd /tmp/lib/modules/3.16.0-4-amd64/kernel/drivers/md/
- insmod raid10.ko
- insmod dm-raid.ko
- change back to first console and select your root lv

So sure it is only the udeb lacking this kernel module.
I will work to produce a little patch to the good udeb kernel package.

Regards,

Bug#784330: game-data-packager without arguments refuses to run due to Python error

2015-05-05 Thread Simon McVittie
On 05/05/15 15:30, vbdasc wrote:
> Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968)

Your locale cannot represent the names of all the supported games.

If you are intentionally using a language-neutral locale, please prefer
C.UTF-8 (available since jessie).

g-d-p could cope with this better, although it's really more a question
of "Python could cope with this better":

As a workaround, you can set the PYTHONIOENCODING environment variable
to something like "utf8" or ":replace":

PYTHONIOENCODING=:replace game-data-packager --help

Bug#784334: Inaccessible emergency shell on serial console

2015-05-05 Thread Gaudenz Steinlin
Package: openstack-debian-images
Version: 1.2
Severity: normal

If booting fails for some reason systemd enters emergency mode and opens
a shell. Unfortunately this shell is on the serial console which on
openstack is read-only. There is no way to type anything on this shell.

The emergency shell should instead be on tty1 so that the vnc or spice
access built into openstack can be used to access the shell.
