okay ... if /etc/default/docker isn't supported with systemd (as far
as I know, this will be default with jessie), how about to documentate
how to work around this in the usual package documantation?!?

Just my 2 euro cents, Jan.

2014-03-20 Thread Emmanuel Charpentier
Package: firmware-linux
Version: 0.41

Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Trying to purge and reinstall firmwares after my boot being messed up by boot-

Indeed, good catch. This problem comes from the rename call that matches
the already-renamed modules when the second python3 version is
installed. The order of these is not deterministic if the build runs in
parallel.

I have a patch pending and will upload it soon.

Cheers,
OdyX

I do not think that we should wait for a non-release architecture that

AIUI, this issue affects all of those who happen to:

• use the X.509 certificates signed with the RSA-SHA512
algorithm (such as those recently issued by CAcert.org) at
  their servers, and thus all the users of these servers;

• are, at the same time, using the latest stable Debian release.

Given that a new Debian stable isn’t to be released anytime
soon, I’d like to ask for the Debian gnutls26 package
maintainers to consider adopting a change [1] (possible patch
MIMEd) made to the GnuTLS tree back in 2011, which I believe
resolves the issue.

I’ve built the patched gnutls26 package with pbuilder and
briefly tested Exim (as of 4.80-7) with the resulting
libgnutls26, and seen no issues so far. The resulting packages
are available from the following location (please do /not/ use
unless in testing environments, such as a KVM instance, etc.):

⋯✂⋯ /etc/apt/sources.list.d/99-am-1.org-1gray-test.list ⋯✂⋯
deb http://am-1.org/~ivan/mini-dinstall/ 1gray-test/$(ARCH)/
deb http://am-1.org/~ivan/mini-dinstall/ 1gray-test/all/
deb-src http://am-1.org/~ivan/mini-dinstall/ 1gray-test/source/
⋯✂⋯ /etc/apt/sources.list.d/99-am-1.org-1gray-test.list ⋯✂⋯

TIA.

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/gnutls.git/commit/?id=1a02ec18e9e39

PS. The top (IOW, the comment) of the diff should read: “… (with
regards to GNUTLS_CRT_OPENPGP.)” Sending as-is because it’s the
file I’ve actually used while building the package.

Eliminated the need for sign_algo in gnutls_pcert_st. This means
that we don't follow RFC5246 by letter, but there wasn't any other
implementation using the sign_algorithm part of the certificate
selection, and this helps reduce complexity.

Bug#742174: owncloud: dpkg postinst exits with error code (1)

2014-03-20 Thread Link Porterfield

Dear Maintainer,

I upgraded owncloud with

apt-get updgrade owncloud
`
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

/etc/apache2/conf-available/owncloud.conf does not exist on my system. The
owncloud config is in virtual host container in /etc/apache2/sites-available.

/var/lib/dpkg/info/owncloud.postinst had references to
/etc/apache2/conf-available/ so I copied
/etc/apache2/conf-available/owncloud.conf from another host and reran apt-get
upgrade.

It then completed succesfully, but has the side effect of enabling access to my
owncloud installation on every virtual host on my server at the URL format of
http://vhost.example.com/owncloud. I worked around this with a2disconf owncloud
&& service apache2 reload

They are drop-in replacements for Calibri and Cambria, the new standard
Windows/Office fonts since about Windows 7. Think of it as
fonts-liberation for (two of) the "next" generation of MS fonts.

ChromeOS, that is.

If the PS3 needs some special partitioning (it's been a while since I
upgraded my PS3 to something that can't run Linux anymore, so I don't
remember) then I would suggest a partman module.

If not, I guess finish-install is the best place to do it.

Just a question of adding the right dm dependencies in the b-nmu hints
in order to avoid asking for a rebuild when other packages are not ready
in the dependencies chain.

Because it's means extra work for no benefit. The Java Team is already
understaffed and there are much more important tasks waiting (like
handling security issues, completing the transition to Maven 3 or
getting OpenJDK 8 packaged).

Since you seem concerned about this issue I invite you to join the Java
Team on alioth [1]. This will give you commit access to the netbeans
package. The script filtering the content of the upstream sources is
debian/orig-tar.sh [2].

One more note:
To be honest, the behaviour of OpenVZ seems to make more sense than
upstream Linux. I mean, what if a file called "/usr/sbin/rsyslogd
(deleted)" actually exists? There is no way to distinguish whether this
program was executed from a deleted version of "/usr/sbin/rsyslogd", or
the current version of "/usr/sbin/rsyslogd (deleted)". The way OpenVZ
makes it, however, these cases are easy to distinguish: If the link does
not start with "/", it does not refer to an actually eixsting file.

Kind regards
Ralf

Description : software framework for finite element methods

UG is a flexible software tool for the numerical solution of partial
differential equations on unstructured meshes, with a focus on
multigrid methods. It has a very powerful grid manager, which supports
two- and three-dimensional grids with mixed element types. The grids
can be adaptively refinement using either classic
red/green-refinement, or pure red refinement with hanging nodes. All
this is fully parallelized and can run on large distributed machines.

UG supports many different discretization schemes. UG can be used
through its built-in shell, using a special scripting language. It can
also be used as a library from other finite element codes.

UG is one of the grids supported by DUNE[1].

  [1]

I intend to maintain the package in the Debian Science Maintainers
team.

Bug#742076: [Pkg-libvirt-maintainers] Bug#742076: libvirt-bin: setvcpus command fails to shrink the numbers of vcpu

2014-03-20 Thread Sdkfz262

Hi Guido,

And thanks for that quick feedback. From what you wrote and the post you
linked Yesterday I understand that's not a bug, or at least not a Debian
bug, but something which requires (as of now) more configuration than a
simple "setvcpus" while the guest is running.

I gave a try to your suggestion (that is: reboot the guest) and the
situation didn't change : vcpuinfo or vcpucount still gives me back 1
vcpu, while the guest sees (and uses) 2 vcpus.

I think it's related to the fact that the definition file wasn't
(automatically) changed, even with that "setvcpus 1" command.
It's still

"2"

and there is no "current" flag as stated in the post you linked (placement='static' current='1'>2)

Unless I'm mistaken, that means that the only way to modify the number
of cpus a guest can run on is to shutdown the guest, modify the
definition file and switch it on back.

Regards,

Loïc

Le 19/03/2014 20:17, Guido Günther a écrit :

Hi,

While on the guest side a cat /proc/cpuinfo still gives back two cpu available.

This needs support from qemu and (at least last time I checked) a
running guest agent. This isn't available in wheezy so you should see
the updated CPUs after reboot only. See. e.g.:

http://lost-and-found-narihiro.blogspot.ch/2013/10/fedora-19-kvm-cpu-hotplug-with-qemu.html

So libvirt tries to cope with it.

It still happens for me in current jessie, so yes, this is still an
issue. The user menu right now shows "Benutzer echseln" with a missing
w for wechseln (switch), for instance, and " uhezustand" without the
leading R for suspend.

Enjoy, and thanks for looking after this,

Bug#742180: network-manager: Wireless connection frequently stalls (on background network scan?)

2014-03-20 Thread Ralf Jung
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.8.0-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

my wireless connections frequently stall for around a second (i.e., no packages
go through).
This can be reproduced with the following two test cases:

* Download a large file via wget. Observe that pretty precisely every 2
minutes, the
download bandwith drops to 0 for around a second, then it goes back up again.

* Run "ping ct.de" (or any other host, of course).
Observe that pretty precisely every 2 minutes, the ping time goes up
significantly:

This is particularily annoying when using VoIP applications like Mumble or
TeamSpeak:
These connection stalls are audible as artifacts of the other speakers, and
similarily, the others only get artifacts from me at that time.

I suspect that the cause for these stalls are background network scans:
If I run something like
  watch -n 20 "sudo /sbin/iw dev wlan0 scan"
I can see these stalls every 20 seconds.

I suspect it's NetworkManager doing the 2-minute background scan as this is
mentioned
in . That thread (and some
others)
also mention that fixes for this would be underway in the kernel, but that was
three
years ago, so I suspect these fixes never came or did not work? I am not sure
whether this bug ought to be assigned to NetworkManager or to the kernel, so
I'd appreciate help in tracking down the cause of the issue, and the right place
to fix it.

Kind regards
Ralf

Can you try the to change the vcpus while the vm is shutdown? You can
also use "virsh edit ". You should rather not change the
definition file by hand.

Ah. So there are quite some documents and webpages which use them, I suppose.

I guess I will prepare a backport then, later today. (Though not sure if I can
upload, my ISP is acting up atm and I'm sending this over 3g...)

Bug#742184: linux-image-3.13-0.bpo.1-686-pae: qemu-kvm unusable with 3.13.5 kernel, oops appears

2014-03-20 Thread igor80
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.13.5-1~bpo70+1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
This is an amd64 system running 32 bits 686-pae kernel
1G of RAM
I have not (can not) tested with full 64 bits system
qemu-kvm is working for some seconds then oops
I tried both qemu-kvm from wheezy and from wheezy-backports
no problem with kernel 3.2 from wheezy
This is really a problem with 3.13 kernel from wheezy-backports
I had no problem with previous 3.12 kernel from wheezy-backports
qemu-kvm is not killed automatically by the oops
cpu load 100% so I kill it manually
The system is then back to normal.

Here after is the syslog with backtrace

Thanks for your great work,

Bug#661486: gnome-shell: Window manager crashes when making a search while two windows share the desktop side-by-side

2014-03-20 Thread althaser
Hey Hugo,

this is an old bug report.

Could you please still reproduce this issue with newer gnome-shell version
like 3.4.2-7+deb7u1 or 3.8.4-5+b1 ?

I can't reproduce it here with 3.8.4-5+b1.

thanks

Sorry for the spam. The attached patch is essentially the same as the
previous one, but it adds a conditional define HAVE_LONG_LONG that uses
long long instead of the added functions when defined. There's nothing
to activate it, but at least it paves the way towards a possible future
compile-time detection and use.

It also fixes two cosmetic problems in the former one.

This script isn't installed by upstream, presumably because it is not ready for
production use. It makes certain assumptions about the Samba setup it is
running in.

We could ship it in /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/, for users to copy and
modify according to their local setup.

Bug#741975: xul-ext-gnome-keyring: Does not store passwords

2014-03-20 Thread Ximin Luo
Hi,

This is a bit weird - I am also running iceweasel 24.3.0 and it works fine for
me. Those warnings you pasted do not seem relevant.

Can you add things to that keyring via seahorse? What is your $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR?
Anything else unusual about how your set-up?

Can you start a new profile, disable all other extensions, and see if it works?
What does the error console (ctrl-shift-J) say?

Yes, that is on my MUSTDO list before summer.
Feel free to help packaging updates of any dependency - this is the main
reason why it's not already updated.

Hello Ximin,

thank you.
I could build the motion package using debuild.

Motion is running again! :-)

Case closed.

Possible options:
-n Run in non-daemon mode.
-s Run in setup mode.
-c config Full path and filename of config file.
-d levelLog level (1-9) (EMR, ALR, CRT, ERR, WRN, NTC, ERR,

Bug#742076: [Pkg-libvirt-maintainers] Bug#742076: libvirt-bin: setvcpus command fails to shrink the numbers of vcpu

2014-03-20 Thread Sdkfz262
Oops it seems that my sentence was misleading. I do edit the definition
file through "virsh edit", I don't edit directly the file stored in
/etc/libvirt/...

I've just performed the modification the way you described it and
restarted the domain. Back to "normal", that is :

vcpucount
maximumconfig1
maximumlive 1
currentconfig1
currentlive 1

and only one cpu in cat /proc/cpuinfo on the guest side.

Hi Guido,

And thanks for that quick feedback. From what you wrote and the post you
linked Yesterday I understand that's not a bug, or at least not a Debian
bug, but something which requires (as of now) more configuration than a
simple "setvcpus" while the guest is running.

I gave a try to your suggestion (that is: reboot the guest) and the
situation didn't change : vcpuinfo or vcpucount still gives me back 1 vcpu,
while the guest sees (and uses) 2 vcpus.

I think it's related to the fact that the definition file wasn't
(automatically) changed, even with that "setvcpus 1" command. It's
still

"2"

and there is no "current" flag as stated in the post you linked (2)

Unless I'm mistaken, that means that the only way to modify the number of
cpus a guest can run on is to shutdown the guest, modify the definition file
and switch it on back.

Can you try the to change the vcpus while the vm is shutdown? You can
also use "virsh edit ". You should rather not change the
definition file by hand.
Cheers,

Or you do what everyone else with this usecase does: local mirror
(and for prototyping snapshot.debian.org is probably handy) as you
otherwise will soon hit a problem:

The date in the dsc file is the date of the build/signature of this
version, not the date this version entered the release. jessie will
release with software build in 2014 as well as software last build in
2010. No problem so far, right? Well, if you use jessie now and you pin
it like you proposed to a release of a weeks ago your chosen release
will not remain stable. Everytime a package is unblocked and transitions
from unstable to testing you might have a new package in your release as
the date can be in the past, even if it has just entered in your view.

Or in other words: Pinning is a way of mix and matching different releases,
not a way to manage the releases itself.

Thanks, uploaded now. I think the patch is also compatible with wx2.8,
but I haven't actually tested that.

Bug#624122: Hash Sum mismatch

No it doesn't because it is included since 0.9.15.2 and you have a
higher version – and not the config enabled which triggered this
error message as a symptom.

I feel your pain, but there is not much we can do about it. If it is
really days and you can confirm this by looking up the files manually
please report it to the mirror team.

You might also want to check that your ISP is not interfering with a
proxy which keeps files in cache for to long (these "friendly" man-in-
the-middle attacks are more common than you might think).

Mirroring the Debian archive is a huge undertaking as it is very big and
various files depend on each other, so the update would need to be
atomic in theory, but can't be in practice (and even if it would, your
download would need to be atomic as well).

That only Translation-* files are effected could hint that the script
used for the mirror is outdated as these files are relatively new and
older versions probably aren't able to handle them in the stages they
should be handled in.

Hey,

Could you please still reproduce this issue with newer gnome-shell version

I can't reproduce it here with 3.8.4-5+b1.

I set to nothing but maybe it does something like shutdown the screen and
moves the running apps to second monitor, although I can still use my

Bug#742188: mailutils: Multiple command-line files produce incorrect summary totals

2014-03-20 Thread Bruce Momjian,,,
Package: mailutils
Version: 1:2.1+dfsg1-7
Severity: normal

When supplying multiple mailbox files to 'frm', the summary is cummulative,
rather than being reset for each file, e.g.:

$ frm -qS /var/mail/bruce
Folder contains 1 new message, 4 unread messages, 72 read messages.
^

$ frm -qS /var/mail/bruce /var/mail/bruce
/var/mail/bruce:
Folder contains 1 new message, 4 unread messages, 72 read messages.
/var/mail/bruce:
Folder contains 2 new messages, 8 unread messages, 144 read messages.
^

Of course, normally you would two different file names. This behavior is not
documented, and is not reflected in the output.

It looks bootdev could be preseeded[1], at least for a test for a VM
preseed the following worked for me:

d-i grub-installer/bootdev string /dev/vda

 [1] https://bugs.debian.org/666974

But having string (hd0) does not seem to work here (have not checked
why), which would be nicer to have more generalised preseed files as
previous possible (for say when having machines having a /dev/vda or a
/dev/sda ...).

Petter, does this also work for you?

Salvatore

Bug#742190: ruby-ffi-rzmq 1.0.3 incompatible with libzmq3 (4.0.4)

2014-03-20 Thread Cédric Boutillier
Package: ruby-ffi-rzmq

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When running

require "ffi-rzmq"

I see the following error:

LoadError: The libzmq version 4.0.4 is incompatible with ffi-rzmq.

It seems according to the README that the version 1.0.3 works only with
the versions 2.2.x (libzmq1, about to be removed) and 3.2.x.
Currently libzmq3 (satisfying the dependency has version 4.0.4, which is
not supported.

There is a new upstream version 2.0.1 which supports 4.x API.

Please package the new version.

Cheers,

Cédric

First of all, I'm not familiar with d-i best practices. So maybe the
following won't make sense.

We could imagine either proposing another variable which would take
specifications like “(hd0)” and do what's needed to convert them back to
/dev/foo stuff, or detect (based on what? parens?) when a conversion is
needed for the bootdev variable that was passed, and do that.

Bug#742192: empathy: Status remains "Away" after suspend/hibernate

2014-03-20 Thread Daniel Iancu
Package: empathy
Version: 3.4.2.3-2+deb7u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I place the computer in suspend or hibernate (close the laptop lid, or from
menu), with empathy running
and status set to available. When I resume, the status is set to away. I have
tested this on other
computers/laptops and the same thing happens.

It's really annoying, because you can't know if the person is really away, or
it's just empathy
who "forgot" to change the status. Placed in a environment where chat is
needed, makes empathy
unusable.

I'm runnging the latest stable version of empathy on Debian Wheezy (with latest
updates).

Bug#742194: ddclient: debconf templates are incomplete and do not offer options for other/manual

2014-03-20 Thread Ben Hildred
Package: ddclient
Version: 3.8.0-11.5
Severity: minor

Although ddclient supports dozens of protocols and routers and other options
the debconf templates will only work with a fraction of these configurations.

I was quite pleased to find that ddclient which is at least partially endorsed
by namecheap was available in the standard repos and that minimal configuration
was needed to get it working with namecheap (5 line configuration file), but
that during install, choosing a dynamic dns service was required but namecheap
was not an option and when I selected other manual configuration was not an
option.

There are several wish-list bugs requesting specific options be added to the
templates, and adding namecheap would certainly handle my specific use case,
but the bigger problem (why this is tagged minor instead of wish-list) is that
there is no way to indicate that the debconf database is incomplete/inacurate
and that manual configuration should be/has been done.

It is my recommendation that manual be added to the first set of options
(selection of well known service/other) and to selection of protocol. I am not
arguing against adding the namecheap service and protocol to the relevant menu
entries, but instead that manual is more important, as it will not only work
with newer/unknown services and newer protocols it will also work with multiple
server setups and other currently unsupported advanced configurations.

thank you for your attention to this issue.

No, it is not. The standard is that an exit status other than zero
indicates a failure, and this causes a calling shell script to stop (
VER=`mkfs.ntfs -V` ). Every other utility in the world returns
STATUS_SUCCESS ( 0 ) when asked for its version since there was no
error or failure.

Bug#738758: [PATCH] ext4: kill i_version support for Hurd-castrated file systems

Yes, and I was planning on optimizing the checks a bit more, but it
makes sense to do that in a separate patch, since this is not the only
place where we are making EXT4_OS_HURD checks.

>
> Does it make sense to support the format at all given that it's unlikely

There are some crazy people still trying to make the Hurd a viable
file system. There's even a Debian port for it. :-) The problem is
that some of the folks who are still trying to make the Hurd real want
to use ext2 as an interchange format between Linux and Hurd, and
presumably that's how they ran across this particular bug.

While I think Hurd is a joke, and it's laughable that the primary file
system for the Hurd doesn't support journalling, or extents, delayed
allocation, or extended attributes[1], and it's hard for them get feature
parity because of the GPL v3 vs v2 compatibility problem, I don't mind
making minimal efforts to provide legacy support to the GNU Hurd.

[1] http://savannah.gnu.org/patch/?5126 (Patches available for the last
  seven years, not yet integrated)

In the long run, the right answer is that the Hurd should use an
extended attribute to store the translator information. Indeed, this
has been discussed seven years ago[2]. But unfortunately, the
development temp for Hurd is a wee bit slower than for the Linux
kernel. :-)

Bug#630646: Selecting Hibernate for "When the power button is pressed" takes no effect

Good, so the bug report should stay open until somebody packages the
extension for Debian. Could you file an RFP or ITP, please?

Thanks for the hint! However, I'm not very happy installing any
software on my machine that does not come from Debian, because:

1. It is not in the package management, so I cannot set up a new
machine as a copy from another one using
   dpkg --get/set-selections

2. In case newer gnome-shell in incompatible with the extension,
it would not automatically deinstall it by "conflicts"

3. The software is installed "per user". The machine is used by
three different users, who all would like to have it

4. The software is not upgraded by the normal, established process
   (apt-get, or whatever)

5. I cannot use the same bug tracker (Debian BTS) as for all other
   software

6. The software is not signed by a fellow DD - can I still trust it?

Anyway, I will try the menu extension. It's probably worth being
packaged for Debian!

Bug#742196: deborphan should ignore reverse dependencies on -dbg packages

2014-03-20 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: deborphan
Version: 1.7.28.8
Severity: normal

(This could be seen as a wishlist, but since this problem makes
deborphan partially useless and fail to do what it was designed
for, I've set the severity to normal.)

The main goal of deborphan is to find orphaned library packages,
i.e. packages providing old libraries that could be safely removed
because no packages depend on them any longer. However, if the
corresponding -dbg package has been installed, this no longer
works!

For instance:

$ deborphan
$ apt-get remove libdb5.1 -s
NOTE: This is only a simulation!
apt-get needs root privileges for real execution.
Keep also in mind that locking is deactivated,
so don't depend on the relevance to the real current situation!
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  linux-doc-3.10 linux-image-3.10-3-amd64
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libdb5.1 libdb5.1-dbg
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 to remove and 5 not upgraded.
Remv libdb5.1-dbg [5.1.29-7]
Remv libdb5.1 [5.1.29-7]

showing that libdb5.1 can be safely removed (together with the
associated -dbg package).

IMHO, dependencies of -dbg packages should be ignored.

Bug#701962: libsodium packaging

2014-03-20 Thread GCS
Hi Raúl,

How is the libsodium packaging stand? You got advices from Alessandro
Ghedini almost a month ago, but I don't see any reply from you.
It would be good to have it updated (due to removed bashism[1]) and
uploaded to Debian. May I finish the packaging based on your work?
Make you the maintainer / uploader (based on your wish) while I'd take
the other position.

Bug#612893: This bug seems to have a fix

2014-03-20 Thread Vincent Deffontaines

Greetings,

I have been hitting the same bug, too, and confirm it is extremely
annoying.

It seems to me that upstream devs have fixed the bug. According to :
http://sourceforge.net/p/fluxbox/bugs/1067/
The patch is here :
http://sourceforge.net/p/fluxbox/bugs/_discuss/thread/a5fef7c2/8477/attachment/fluxbox-bugfix-1067.diff

I understand it is commited into fluxbox source tree and will be part
of

1.3.6.

Could please the debian package maintainers integrate this patch into a
1.3.5 update please, at least into unstable ?

Regards,

Vincent

You can't assume that the next version is 1.3.6, it could be 1.4.0 for
all we know :)

I used webkitgtk 2.2.5 at end of February and everything (dwb) worked
fine again. Now I am using 2.3.90 (experimental) which works fine too.

I do think so too.

Yes, adding via seahorse works. No speial XDG_RUNTIME_DIR here. I
deleted the keyring and it worked for one time (one site's password is
in the keyring now) but now it doesn't even offer to store something in
the keyring anymore.

Adding item via seahores works.

The error console is full of CSS warnings these days but nothing that
looks related to the keyting. I ran without extensions and with a new
