Doesn't look right, there has already been discussion about how it's
not easy to reproduce. Reopening.

Bug#730369: Even after enabling...

2014-01-18 Thread John M.
Hi,

Even after enabling and starting the service, it doesn't start
automatically on the next reboot. Manually executing

# systemctl start bluetooth.service

Indeed starts the service. My temporary solution to avoid that, was to
copy /lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service into the /etc/systemd/system
directory, modify the service so that it's wanted by the
multi-user.target and create a relative symlink in the
multi-user.target.wants directory.

It seems to be a configuration problem, or a conflict between the
bluetooth.service and bluetooth.target units.

That's a much better solution! My first try was also with armored keyring.

So, note to the maintainers of dpkg: from my point of view #735840 can be
closed without remorse.

Bug#735892: libknopflerfish-osgi-framework-java: doesn't depend on default-jre and enforces installation of version 6 openjdk

2014-01-18 Thread Eric Lavarde
Package: libknopflerfish-osgi-framework-java
Version: 2.3.3-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

as the subject says, the package doesn't depend on default-jre which
leads to installation to openjdk-6-jre in addition to the version 7 that
is already installed.

One could argue that it's a wish rather than a bug, but given that we
want to get rid of openjdk6 for the next release of Debian, I allowed
myself to log this report as a normal bug.

Cheers, Eric

I believe the way forward is IO::Socket::IP, not IO::Socket::INET6.
The upstream plan seems to be to get IO::Socket::IP into Perl core
for 5.20, scheduled for May. If that happens, it makes sense to me
to put that in perl-base along with the old IO::Socket::INET.

 https://rt.perl.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=116433#txn-1275004

In the meanwhile, it looks like libio-socket-ip-perl could be made to
depend only on perl-base, as it doesn't seem to use any modules outside
that. I think the situation fits the 'exceptional circumstances' clause
in the Perl policy.

 https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/perl-policy/ch-perl.html#s-base

Bill, would you be OK adding a dependency on libio-socket-ip-perl if it
didn't depend on perl/perl-modules ?

Bug#735899: pybuild should be clearer about how to disable things

2014-01-18 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: dh-python

at least the manpage doesn't tell that you need to disable things for the normal
and the dbg interpreters explicitly.

also it would be nice not to just disable running tests, but to run them and
ignore the test results.

also, please run the tests for all interpreters, and don't stop if the first one
fails. that way you see the results for all interpreters. only fail after the
last run.

Bug#704759: Enable lmetad when building lvm2

2014-01-18 Thread Chris Boot
Hi,

I'd like to second this request. Having optional lvmetad support for
those people who find it useful would be much appreciated.

I'd be happy to create a patch to the lvm2 package to enable this
support if it would be any help. If so, please let me know if you would
prefer to have lvmetad in its own binary package, or simply be part of
the lvm2 package.

Cheers,
Chris

It's not very helpful bugreport. So, for now I'll downgrade its
severity and wait for any additional input from you. What do you
expect me to do? Why?

Cheers!

2014-01-18 Thread Dominic Hargreaves

This package was renamed to libgit-pureperl-perl recently.
libgit-pure-perl has an RC bug, low popcon and no r-deps, and the
maintainer supports the removal in[1].

Bug#735901: please provide the list of mono architectures in a central place

2014-01-18 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: mono
Severity: important

In the recent mono experimental upload you did merge the changes to build on
ppc64el, but didn't enable to build the packages on ppc64el. See the Ubuntu
diff for these remaining changes needed.

Please add a list of mono archs to some of the mono packages so that packagers
can get the list of archs which are supposed to build mono packages. This way
not every packager has to track down the list of mono architectures themself.

See an example like /usr/share/gcj/debian_defaults from the libgcj-common
package.

This, together with your earlier comments that you somewhat prefer
systemd, is not realistic. No-one has seriously suggested that making
systemd portable would be feasible, and reimplementing it would be a
very big project.

Do you recognise that a decision to make systemd the only supported
init would mean the end of non-Linux-based ports of Debian ?

Hi,

It is a violation of dfsg (thus serious). You should purge your source
package from the following script and repack it.

If you use these file you could link at build time with
libjs-jquery-ui package if needed.

Ask more piece of advice on #debian-mentors or #debian-qa.

I have announced this mass bug filling on debian-devel

The program crashing here is gvfsd-metadata, thus reassigning.

Without a backtrace with debug symbols, there's not much we can do here.

Bug#694591: Problems

2014-01-18 Thread Tristan Seligmann
I've finally taken some time to look at this ITP again. Unfortunately,
it seems that the versions of sac/flute that are included with
css2xslfo are modified versions that do not correspond to any version
I can find elsewhere. The modifications are quite extensive (they seem
to mostly relate to CSS3 support), so I think the only way the package
can work is if it builds and ships private versions of these
libraries; I think this may be feasible, but will require quite a bit
more work.

Hi,

It seems I still had openjdk-6-jre installed and ran jitsi with that.
Trying to log in do the @debian.org SIP account seems to fail in
that case. AFter installing the openjdk-7-jre it worked.

I have a feeling that more things fail with 6 and work with 7.
Maybe we should drop the alternative to java6-runtime?

Control: retitle 735029 RM: teamspeak-client -- RoQA; orphaned, outdated (newer

mumble/mumble-server aren't compatible with TeamSpeak
(http://mumble.sourceforge.net/FAQ#Can_I_use_Mumble_to_connect_to_Ventrilo.2FTeamspeak.2FSkype.2F...),
but TeamSpeak 2 and TeamSpeak 3 aren't compatible either
(https://support.teamspeakusa.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/56/12/is-teamspeak-2-compatible-with-teamspeak-3),
and we only have permission to distribute TeamSpeak 2, not 3
(http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs//non-free/t/teamspeak-client/teamspeak-client_2.0.32-5_copyright).

Hence, while mumble can't replace TeamSpeak if the other parties
are unwilling to switch, the teamspeak-* packages can't
replace TeamSpeak 3 either, and its falling popcon
(http://qa.debian.org/popcon-graph.php?packages=teamspeak-client)
suggests TeamSpeak 2 is now rarely used.

This looks good for our svn based packages which I successfully converted
to normalised Vcs fields. However, there might (or might not?) some
enhancement for some Git based packages. If you look for instanse at:

  ssh://git.debian.org/git/debian-med/r-cran-stringr.git

>From my perspactive normalisation also means kicking things like

you might want to use your "power" as cme maintainer to deal with this.

H, perhaps I'm wrong with my suspicion that ";a=summary" is
responsible for the problem - since after I removed it the problem above
remained. I guess it is simply the fact that you can leave out gitweb
and apache is expanding this URL to a valid one by injecting gitweb.

I'd recommend that if you find something like

   git\.debian\.org/\?p=debian-med

by

   anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=debian-med

Kind regards and many thanks for your work

  Andreas.

Yes, it would be fine, if IO::Socket::IP is planned to be essential.

Bug#735906: uscan: Repack broken by hidden files

2014-01-18 Thread David Prévot
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.13.9
Severity: normal
User: devscripts-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertag: uscan

Hi,

Trying to use the Files-Excluded feature from uscan with adblock-plus
ends up with a broken adblock-plus_2.4.1+dfsg.orig.tar.gz tarball
containing a top level directory with almost all the content, then a few
hidden files:

adblock-plus-2.4.1+dfsg.orig/
adblock-plus-2.4.1+dfsg.orig/addChecksum.py
[ and almost everything in that adblock-plus-2.4.1+dfsg.orig directory ]
adblock-plus-2.4.1+dfsg.orig/buildtools/lib/keySelector.js
.hg_archival.txt
.hgsub
.hgsubstate

(off course, the actual source tarball contain the .hg* files at the
same level as the rest of the content)

My concern of devices not being present in the /dev during boot is still
valid IMHO but can only be solved with the introduction of lvmetad (see:
#704759) and not the generator, but this is outside of the scope of this
issue. Sorry for the confusion.

But I still think that installing the generator has an added value when
lvmetad will be used. In this case the central volume group activation
will not be needed anymore as the job will be delegated to the daemon.
The generator will detect this and the .service will not be created,
that means that in this condition the call to udevadm trigger will be
omitted leading to a faster boot.

I unfortunately still doesn't understand on which technical ground the
installation of the generator is being refused and why debian should
diverge on what upstream is proposing.

Anyway I'm happy that this situation will be resolved and that our users
will have a more reliable boot when using LVM. I still think this is
not the optimal solution.

2014-01-18 Thread Dererk
Package: kdeconnect
Version: 0.4.2-1
tags: patch
severity: serious

Dear kdeconnect maintainer,

I found that there's a missing (strong) dependency on the kde desktop
side that renders this package unusable, that pkg is kde-zeroconf.
I'm using a very lightweight set of kde packages and this appears to be
the only missing dependency part for kdeconnect to work on it.
Please find suitable applying the attached patch.

Thanks for maintaining this pkg!

Bug#735909: piuparts.debian.org should test i386 packages not available on amd64

2014-01-18 Thread Holger Levsen
package: piuparts.debian.org

Hi,

currently piuparts.d.o only tests packages of arch amd64 and all, while the
machines could trivially have i386 chroots, to also tests packages which are
i386 only.

This needs some more work on piuparts, from the TODO:

- really support multiple architectures:
  - piuparts-report should have a list of available arch and list packages
only
available on untested archs in a new state
"(depends-)not-available-on-tested-archs"
  - master should (per default) only schedule packages which are not available
on the master arch to slaves of different archs ->
"schedule-evenly-to-slaves = no"

I think Moritz's point is that the project should get to the point
where it is perceived as ok for the non-linux ports to lose things
like gnome once it entirely depends on linux-only features (lots of
alternative desktops xfce, lxde, etc. still of course remain). To
make that ok, the % build requirement for kfreebsd/hurd will probably
need to be reduced.

Best wishes,

We have updates of all essential packages in each upgrade ... if any of
the essential packages fails, the test of the package to be tested will
fail.

And essential failures will probably be noticed by someone and filed ...

Or should we drop tes special case essential-required and run them for
all the packages? That would be around 60 identical tests that would
either all pass or all fail, but yes, that's an early indicator that
something is amiss.

It would be nice if how-can-i-help could use some colors in the output,

get hard to read.

maybe have a 'severity' rating for issues (O would be red, RFH would be
orange, for example)

even if it only fixes half of the full problem (from a piuarts.d.o POV), it is
a considerable improvement for piuparts itself, as it causes piparts to fail
on a certain kind of failure on which it didnt fail before. So I don't see a

No. cryptdisks{,-early}.service are actually masked in the systemd
package. cryptsetup.target is the correct unit to refer to here, see
also systemd.special(7):

cryptsetup.target
A target that pulls in setup services for all encrypted block devices.

Units called e.g. systemd-cryptsetup@sda2_crypt.service are dynamically
generated from /etc/crypttab using a systemd generator and will then be
part of cryptsetup.target.

>> +usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/lvm2.conf

The changelog was merely an example, so feel free to phrase that as you
want. In case you want some input from me, I’d call it “Install
tmpfiles.d(5) configuration for systemd”.

As for your other mail which suggests shipping symlinks to enable the
unit files, are you sure that there is absolutely no use-case in which
users might want to disable the service files? Having the symlinks in
the package will prevent that entirely.

Also, why do you want lvm2-early.service hooked into cryptsetup.target
instead of local-fs.target, as upstream suggests?

We could start with having both sid_i386 and sid_amd64 for now. And they
should be tested *full*.

I've seen failures on i386 (mainly upgrade related) that were not
reproducible in amd64 - but for packages available in both arches.

Have you considered joining the OCaml team on Alioth[1], and put your

[1] https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-ocaml-maint/
[2] dom-new-git-repo(1), in package dh-ocaml

> Thanks for your consideration!

I started to have a look, and for sure the copyright file is incorrect.
There is a lot of copyright to "Jun Furuse" and OCamlPro, those two
should at least be mentioned. Actually, I didn't see (after a quick
look) any copyright owned by the ones you mentioned in debian/copyright
(Thomas and Fabrice work for OCamlPro and/or Inria, but the copyright
seems to belong to the company and Inria). There are also some other
bits from other people, you have to be sure that at least license is the
same.

I am still reviewing the technical part, but I preferred to tell you
about the copyright issue first.

Thank you for your contribution!

Cheers,

Thanks.

A few comments:
• You’ll want to bump debian/compat to 9 since you are requiring
  debhelper >= 9 as build-dependency anyways.
• In debian/copyright, I’d recommend to license debian/ under the same
license that upstream ships with (i.e. BSD-2-clause in this
case). This is to prevent licensing issues when shipping patches in
  debian/patches
• debian/docs is empty, so just delete it?
• In debian/README.Source, if you want to make it perfect, add git
checkout to make the instructions easily reproducible.

Aside from that:
• I’m curious about debian/Dockerfile. What do you use it for? AFAICT,
it “just” builds a package automatically. Apart from the step which
fetches the current upstream source, you can already do that with
  gbp-clone and git-buildpackage, right?

Michael

Bug#735912: O: libpam-shield -- locks out remote attackers trying password guessing

2014-01-18 Thread Jonathan Niehof
Package: wnpp

I am orphaning the package libpam-shield (source package pam-shield),
a PAM module that blocks IP addresses with repeated failed logins.

A git repository with recent development, both Debian and "upstream,"
is at https://github.com/jtniehof/pam_shield. The original author is
fairly inactive so an interested adopter may also wish to consider

The distributed config does work (it configure RT at '/rt'). Changing
this to '/rt/' would break installations for people visiting '/rt' so it's
not something we can change now. Probably the most useful thing to do
would be to add a commented out line indicating how to configure RT
correctly to be run from '/', since it's not that obvious.

Strange... I don't have this package installed on any of my machines (laptop,
desktop) and kdeconnect is working.

For I can see on the control file of kde-zeroconf, it didn't pull other
dependencies that could lack kdeconnect.

I will try to reproduce the bug doing a fresh and minimal kde installation.

If you didn't install kde-zeroconf on one of your machines, can you try the
next ( and ping me back with the results :) ), please:

  - run "kcmshell4 --list | grep kdeconnect" to see if the module is listed.

  - If not, do a "qdbus org.kde.kded /kded loadModule kdeconnect", its should
return true. If not, kde isn't aware of it.

  - If all was ok, then run "kbuildsycoca4 -noincremental" to update the
cache.

  - Later you could try "kcmshell4 kcm_kdeconnect" to start it by hand.

> Thanks for maintaining this pkg!

My pleasure :), thanks for the report too.

we really want to test testing2sid and wheezy2jessie on those archs, and

Which maybe is ok, I *believe* we can get more cores and more RAM for the

I just tested this and it seems to be a trivial change. Do we need the
"essential-required" category for anything? We will get about 60 more
packages into "pass" (and we will run adequate on them).

And if any of them blows up it will blow up or block all the following
piuparts tests - which is probably a good idea if piuparts is used as
input for testing migration - it will pull an emergency break in
britney. Which can be overriden by manual hints, if needed.
In the worst case it will require someone to manually reschedule a few
failed logs to get the piuparts machinery going again. (But this would
also sort out itself after a few days.)

This bug is quite annoying. Moreover, lagging in util-linux versions
prevent us to use some newer features like unsharing user namespace
(feature available in our 3.12 kernel, through unshare) or attaching to
an existing namespace (with nsenter).

Bug#735828: spatialite: FTBFS: Tests failures

2014-01-18 Thread Sebastiaan Couwenberg
Control: fixed -1 spatialite/4.0.0-1

Hi David,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

I can reproduce the build failure with 3.1.0~rc2-2, but not with 4.0.0-1
and up.

The 4.x versions of SpatiaLite were only uploaded to experimental, where
the updated packages for SpatiaLite 4.1.1 are currently waiting for a
transition slot (#731402 & #731403).

I'm tempted to disable the failing tests in 3.1.0~rc2-2 to not risk
having the package removed from testing, but these tests succeeded
before so a regression has been introduced by one or more of the
dependencies.

The root cause of the test failure I've not been able to track down yet,
I'm still reviewing the changes for the failing testcases since
3.1.0-rc2. I'll try to backport the changes for an interim update of
spatialite in unstable while we wait for the 4.1.1 transition.

Kind Regards,

Bas

Bug#735916: ftp.debian.org: changed host key for i18n.debian.net

2014-01-18 Thread Martijn van Oosterhout
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: important

Dear ftp-masters,

Summary: the known_hosts on (franck|ries).debian.org for
i18n.debian.net need to be updated. Until this is fixed there will be
no new translated package descriptions.

Detail:

As part of the dinstall process updated Translation-xx files are
fetched from the DDTP via rsync-over-ssh. The server hosting the DDTP
has changed and so the IP address and the Host key of i18n.debian.net
have changed. The rsync has been failing for more than a week now.

See dak.git:config/debian/dinstall.functions:66 for the dinstall function.
See dak.git:config/homedir/ssh/ftpmaster-config:15 for the ssh config.

The new host key fingerprint for i18n.debian.net is
42:ed:ae:48:6b:f1:97:ae:c3:b4:b0:69:83:cd:56:2e
The new IP address is 87.98.215.148.

Note the machine is actually ddtp.debian.net now, feel free to update
the scripts to reference that name instead.

Currently dinstall script is apparently running on franck.debian.org so
that's where the host key needs to be updated. I understand
ries.debian.org also does it sometimes (it's whitelisted on our end).

Thanks in advance,

I think removing the rename from the Debian package is the best long-term
option, otherwise we still end up carrying dead code around. The question
of whether we carry around a Depends long-term rather depends on whether
users generally consider rename a fundamental part of the perl package.
It's certainly become quite a basic tools that I expect to see on Debian
systems, but others may disagree. The alternative, of course, is for
libfile-rename-perl to just be Standard, without any actual long-term
dependencies.

Dominic.

I suspect this isn't quite what Niko was thinking. popcon-upload isn't
itself Essential so it doesn't seem necessary to make the preference
for only depending on Essential packages into a hard rule, I'd have
thought?

In fact, if we pull IO::Socket::IP into perl-base with perl 5.20,
making libio-socket-ip-perl Essential now may actually be harmful.

Should this bug be fixed for wheezy?

Yes but I am not building with CMake for now ...
I am not planning to switch until most of the issues reported in this
bug are fixed:

Maybe there is a way to generate this file with the autotools?

Looking at

https://munin.debian.org/debian.org/piu-slave-bm-a.debian.org/memory.html
there seems to be enough capacity to increase the number of sections as
well as running 1-2 additional slaves with the current equipment.

If I may, the Dockerfile helps in the same ways a Dockerfile can help with
any other non-packaging project: nice repeatable builds, easy to read
instructions for building that can also be run directly, and allows other
platforms to trivially build/test the packaging. I'm one of those sleazy
Gentoo types, so I don't have gbp-clone or git-buildpackage available
natively on my host OS.

Sorry again for having been too shallow with this. Mehdi Dogguy was right with
pointing out that I should be careful copyright/license questions.

I'll look over all of it again and try to find out from where precisely each

Wow, digging into the BTS looked at first quite useful, except for the
fact kernel-img.conf (from kernel-package) seems to be dead:

Indeed. The attached patch implements this.

Jonas, Michael: I have noticed there are some pending updates on
ghostscript on the VCS, do you intend to upload these soon too? Also,
what is blocking the upgrade to a new upstream release?

(I can upload that patch if you don't have time.)

Cheers,

Bug#698795: GPS information are shown without decimal values

I'm quite sure the photo was taken with a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, but
I guess any other smartphone will add decimal cohordinates to the
photos it takes (if location info is enabled).

Bug#734913: gcc-4.9: file conflicts with packages built from src:gcc-4.8

2014-01-18 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Followup-For: Bug #734913

Hi,

the recent fix did not cover all cases:

* libstdc++-4.9-doc needs to Conflicts: libstdc++-4.8-doc
  (not libstdc++6-4.8-doc)
* libx32stdc++6-4.9-dbg needs to Conflicts: libx32stdc++6-4.8-dbg

To avoid having the list of conflicts growing infinitely in the future,
what about using some virtual packages for the not co-installable
packages, e.g.

Provides: libstdc++-x.y-doc
Replaces: libstdc++-x.y-doc
Conflicts: libstdc++-x.y-doc

(where 'x.y' is a literal string, not something to be substituted)

Andreas

Bug#735814: ossim: FTBFS: multiarch related?

2014-01-18 Thread Rebecca N. Palmer
This looks like a lack of multiarch support: this package adopted
libtiff5 before that had pkg-config or multiarch, and expects to find it
in the old directories (./configure lines ~7650).

Given that 1.8 has a new build system that does know how to find
multiarch tiff5, and has successfully done so in the UbuntuGIS PPA
(https://launchpadlibrarian.net/145422701/buildlog_ubuntu-quantal-amd64.ossim_1.8.16~1ubuntu4_UPLOADING.txt.gz),
it might be best to switch to that, though I have not tried to build it
in Debian.
