Ping? What's the status on getting squeeze updated?
If squeeze is not updated, would you be ok with removing it from the
archive? It's not like it couldn't be re-introduced whenever it is fixed.

consistent with the illustrative puruposes of the vignette. Also,
the time cost of generating data is not consistent with our
(nightly) build process; we will not generate this data on the fly,
and it would be a mistake for your release process to generate data
different from the data used in our release.

Defintely. The only thing our ftpmaster needs is this kind of
explanation (hopefully).

These (expense of
computation, consistency of external data sources) are typical
reasons.

When the 'affy' maintainer recieves one of these emails, and the
email mentions three data sets, and the three data sets are
documented in the man page as data sets from an experiment (e.g.,
?SpikeIn), what is one supposed to do?

Sorry, I just missed this part of the documentation, my fault.

Or rather, why is he being
contacted in the first place?

That's simple: He is listed on the affy homepage

   http://bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/html/affy.html

Probably I meant this in a rhetorical way. I mean, "why does the maintainer need
to be contacted about a documented data set?" and you've answered that.

as maintainer and this is what I take over into the according Debian
package metainformation field (in debian/copyright). I have to admit
that I'm personally totally unconnected to BioConductor and have only a
very rough understanding of R. The problem is that in the Debian Med
team some people started to package some BioConductor modules and these
people now vanished from the team or are overworked. My goal is to
keep on their work for our users and namely cummerbund needs some
update with several new preconditions. So I tried to dive into
BioConductor internals and I'm very sorry if I did not yet found all
details how this project is organised

In short: Should I generally override the contact e-mail for
any BioConductor part by

   Upstream-Contact: BioConductor Maintainer

independently what might be written on the according homepage?

Package maintainers are the ones in a position to decide what to do.

But if you are going to contact package maintainers generally (all 749 packages?
data annotation and experiment data packages [which are more-or-less entirely
binary objects!] too?) then I'd like to bring this up on the Bioconductor devel
mailing list so that package maintainers have a fair chance of knowing what to
expect.

 From a non-technical perspective: (1) It's presumptuous to suggest
that the data files are not important for user documentation; if
they where not important why would the author have gone to the
trouble to include them in the first place?

It seems BioConductor is quite good organised but trust me in my 15
years experience of Debian package building that I found lots of files
in upstream sources which are not (any more) needed or not important
enough to keep them inside while an online download would be perfectly
sufficient. Just guessing from this experience I was just suggesting a
possible solution. I hoped to get some helping point for the decision
which was obviously not the case.

(2) If you are going to
contact our maintainers, then please let me know about the extent of
the contact and the intention; I would rather have a discussion on
our developer mailing list than have each maintainer wondering how
to react.

I'll respect this in the future. The intention is simply letting the
package pass ftpmasters criterion - the extent of the contact is hardly
to estimate in advance.

Thanks again for your patience

 Andreas.

Just a side note: afaics the last release is from 24-Feb-2008.
Is this package still actively developed?

Bug#726531: chromium: Rectangles on canvas are shifted when the zoom factor is not 100%

2013-10-16 Thread Emmanuel Gamby
Package: chromium
Version: 29.0.1547.57-1~deb7u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When drawing rectangles on a canvas tag, the rectangles are not drawn
under the cursor if the zoom level is different from 100%: they are
shifted by a number of pixels which is proportional to the zoom factor.

The bug can be experimented on this page:

http://devfiles.myopera.com/articles/649/example5.html

Same bug occurs on Windows with Chrome.

Emmanuel

Bug#726533: RFS: 0install/2.3.3-2 [ITP] -- rename and split zeroinstall-injector package

2013-10-16 Thread Thomas Leonard
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am a DM, maintaining the zeroinstall-injector package. I have split it into
separate packages to avoid pulling in GTK on headless servers. This saves
around 100 MB when deploying to a fresh server. Could someone check it and
approve the new package names? My previous mentor (Jens Peter Secher) is no
longer a DD.

 * Package name: 0install
   Version : 2.3.3-2
   Upstream Author : Thomas Leonard
 * URL : http://0install.net/
 * License : GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1
   Section : admin

It now builds these binary packages:

  0install - cross-distribution packaging system
  0install-core - cross-distribution packaging system (non-GUI parts)
  zeroinstall-injector - transitional package for 0install

I updated the name as "injector" is no longer used, and the main command is now
"0install".

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/0install

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/0/0install/0install_2.3.3-2.dsc

More information about 0install can be obtained from http://0install.net

Alessio, I think there is a misunderstanding. AFAIUI, you can upload
it now, but users would have to fetch it from proposed-updates until
the next point release. Nevertheless, nothing is stopping you from
uploading the fixed package now.

At least that's my reading from Julien's mail.

No need to kill it, it does not get stuck; it exists normally after running
for 1.5 seconds after the unlock. If I run it manually in debugging mode, I
see that it scans my mounted devices after unlock.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting. I found the problem, working at releasing the
fixed upstream version, then a new Debian package.

It's actually surprising it didn't bite earlier: ypush_av, responsible
for instanciating the state structure, did not explicitly return a
pointer to it.

Regards, Thibaut.

+Description: Revert broken trustdb creation change
+ Revert the following upstream patch that causes --always-trust not to
+ create trustdb because GnuPG then complains that the file is required.
+ This breaks popularity-contest 1.60.
+ Next upstream release will include a patch

+ trustdb when --always-trust is used (the file is not actually used).

Yes, I agree and as 7.2 was released the 12th I assume I can go ahead
uploading it now.

Please give me few minutes to load dput, I'm going to shoot the patch right now.

Ah, then this was a misunderstanding on my part. In your initial email
you said that the process was running all the time and I misunderstood
that and thought you were saying that the sniffer was constantly
scanning your external drive (while you meant the gnome-shell process
itself)

With all that said, I think this is a minor issue at best and I'm
actually not sure it is a bug.
I think the issue is, that while you have your session locked, it is not
marked as being active and so doesn't process any autorun events.

When you unlock the session, it seems to do a sweep to catch up on any
events that were missed while away.

Bug#717777: New 1.3.3 in git (not pushed yet)

2013-10-16 Thread Michael Vogt
Hi,

I am also keen to get a new version into debian and would like to
offer my help. I have updated my local git tree to have 1.3.3
ready. No need for +dfsg anmyore as the html (and therefore JS) is
removed in the recent versions. The ansible-doc is no longer available
too though.

I can push to collab-maint or to a different location for review and
would love to get feedback and get it into unstable. Happy to do the
upload if you are busy.

Cheers,
 Michael

Beginning of X. After starting and logging in, I can play them for a
few minutes; afterwards it will crash.

I didn't check the backtrace myself, but when I wrote my shotgun-patch,
the problem was that pixmap_private was NULL; bo is in there, right? So
at least in that case, it could never have allocated it, or at least it
couldn't store the pointer.

Due to unrelated problems (unbearable slowness) I switched from gnome to
xfce. It does report 0% now. It seems gnome keeps the gpu busy even if
it's not displaying anything...

Bug#726492: debian-edu: Task files are specifying a lot of not existing / renamed packages

Sure I am! And according to the liststats[1] I'm struggling hard to
remain the top 6th poster but I'll probably loose this position soon to
Mike. ;-)

Yes, there is a way. Inspecting the log I've posted. Could you please
have a real look at the list? I'm really wondering how you could come
up with the thesis that old stuff from future stuff is hard to
distinguish after having at least a slightest look.

Moreover: Future packages should get some additional information inside
the tasks file - you might really want to reread the docs[2]. So cleaning
up is simple: Remove everything that is not found that has no additional
information provided. That should be very simple. But as I repeatedly
said: Watch for alternatives / renamed packages.

> And a wiki seems better

I think we had left behind the Wiki discussion about ten years ago. A
Wiki for the intended purpose is *way* worse. And please do not use the
argument that a Wiki is always up to date. A Wiki is only up to date if
enough people care. Please trust me: All those Wiki pages createt for
Blends related package list either were never finished or are outdated
now. The major advantage is that you can *check* the metadate inside a
task file (see this bug report) but you can not with a Wiki. What lets
you assume that given you have not maintained the list of packages inside
the tasks file on what you are relying technically anyway a Wiki might
be maintained more reliable. And even if you might be right which I
doubt heavily: Why should anybody spent time in migrating the (assumed)
maintained Wiki content into the tasks file.

I really hope I misunderstood you.

> for keeping such a
> list anyway, so I'm all for your cleanup plan.

I'm doing this cleanup regularly for Debian Med and Debian Science and
it takes some time but if you try to let the amount of work not to pile
up that much as it is now that's no problem at all. BTW, I'm to lazy to
search the list, but I have given hints on this problem several times in
the past (also several times with bad timing for various freezes).

You can keep Blends sources in SVN or Git at your preference. I could
provide a script to do the migration (or for some kind of $DRINK when we
might meet next time I'd volunteer to do this ;-)).

Kind regards

   Andreas.

 3) click "next input method" setup button (right end button of next

  5) The switching input methods keyboard short cut setting window is
 completely broken.

  * Normaly when click a "short cut" in the box on top of the
window, keycode is shown in keycode box and checked key
modifier. For example click "space" on the window,
space will be shown ketcode input box and add check "Super"
modifier. But it will not work.

  * Click button right end of the keycode input box to show
keyboard short cut input window. The window will shown.
But it will not work completely (it will not fetch keyboard
input...)

  * add/apply/delete button is always disabled, can not click
(so I can not add, modify and delete keyboard short cuts...)

2013-10-16 Thread Holger Levsen
package: live-config-systemd
severity: serious
version: 3.0.23-1

Hi,

according to Daniel in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-live/2013/10/msg00019.html
live-config-systemd 3.0.23-1 is completly broken on wheezy, thus I'm filing
this bug, to make users aware and probably remove it from wheezy.

For jessie and sid I assume a 4.x upload to unstable would be in order and fix
this bug, as I currently assume live-config-systemd is also broken in jessie
and sid. Is that correct, Daniel?

cheers,
Holger

Bug#726492: debian-edu: Task files are specifying a lot of not existing / renamed packages

Could you provide examples from that list, please? You already parsed it it
seems.

Frankly: if debian-blends only gives me work more work regularily, why should
I use it at all? As I see it we want to maintain a few metapackages with it,
keeping up with some meta framework just to achieve this, seems a bit
cumbersome... (eg also that the debian-edu package requires a special buld
procedure is not nice for new Debian Edu developers.)

Bug#726538: partman-md: Should rescan for encrypted volumes on top of raid after assembling it

2013-10-16 Thread Agustin Martin
Package: partman-md
Version: 67
Severity: normal

Hi, maintainers,

Want to share a minor inconsistency when using crypto on top of RAID, mostly
related to rescue mode.

First, what works and should be expected, a normal crypto volume, no RAID:

 * Rescue mode
 * After selecting time zone d-i notices there is an encrypted volume I am
prompted to enter a passphrase for it if I want to have it available for
   rescue operations.

That is the expected behavior.

However things work differently when the encrypted volume is on top of a
RAID (RAID1 in this case).

 * Rescue mode
 * Get the "Device to use as root file system" dialog, known partitions
shown, no RAID is still assembled and of course nothing inside it is
   shown, just plain /dev/sd* stuff.
 * I choose "Assemble RAID array", tick Automatic and proceed.
 * However, although a crypto volume is on top of that RAID, that seems not
detected and I am not prompted for a passphrase to enable it for rescue.
Of course I can open a shell, enable luks volume and the lvm logical
volumes it contains, go back and continue, now with all really available
choices including those inside the crypto volume.

I'd expect the same check that is automaticaly done when the encrypted
volume is not on top of a RAID be run right after assembling the RAID
so the contents of the encrypted volume (single partion or lvm stuff)
become available for the rescue session in a simpler way if the
   passphrase is provided.

PS: I put version as 67 since it is what is currently in testing. I actually
carried out the tests with an installation image created out of

debian-testing-i386-CD-1.jigdo 2013-10-14

from

http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/i386/jigdo-cd/

so the actual version may differ.

Regards, and thanks for all your work.

Bug#726518: (no subject)

2013-10-16 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi

[Disclaimer: not the maintainer, just noticed that bug].

I think this was already solved for wheezy, however I noticed:

> /etc/bind/db.root changed [not included]

^ have you previously changed this by hand?

Since /etc/bind/db.root was updated both for squeeze and wheezy
including the d.root ip change.

Bug#726539: powertop: Stops working, loops printing "requesting unregistered parameter" errors

2013-10-16 Thread Martín Ferrari
Package: powertop
Version: 2.4-2

Hi,

It happened to me twice this week: when running powertop, it will not do
anything but print error messages of the form:

BUG: requesting unregistered parameter 70
BUG: requesting unregistered parameter 75
BUG: requesting unregistered parameter 70
BUG: requesting unregistered parameter 75
BUG: requesting unregistered parameter 70

After a reboot, it worked again, but then today (after a few suspends) it
showed the same symptoms.

This bug has also been reported in other bug trackers:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powertop/+bug/1234299
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=947425
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1334085 (reported as solved)

>From the bug reports, it'd seem that clearing the cache, or rerunning the
calibrate operation (which I have never run) solved the issue.

I can confirm that removing the cache files solved the problem, for now at
least. But this is still a very annoying bug.

Hi!

It's been about 11 months you sent this ITP. Is there any progress about
the packaging of this Ruby library? As I understand it, you proposed to
package this Ruby library as a dependency for diaspora.

Do not hesitate to approach the Ruby team if you need
assistance/sponsoring for your package.

Bug#726540: zip: "zip - file >> out" creates broken archive

2013-10-16 Thread Aleksey Morarash
Package: zip
Version: 3.0-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

A have encountered that zip fails to write correct archive to
a pipe when its opened with O_APPEND option.

For example, this will create broken archive:

$ zip - file >> outfile

When this one works as planned:

$ zip - file | cat >> outfile

I found that zip makes lseeks while writing the archive file, but
it doesn't change its behavior while writing to the file opened with
the O_APPEND option.

Changing the output format is equivalent to change the API for applications

Yes, but please send a debdiff to t...@security.debian.org first

Please use 1.2.9-1~deb7u1 for stable-security.

Due to a bug in dak on security-master we cannot release a package
with the same tarball in oldstable-securit and stable-security.

As such, we first need to release 1.2.9-1~deb7u1 for stable-security
and 1.2.9-1~deb6u1 for oldstable-security can follow later.

Since the 1.2.9 tarball is new in the security archive, the updates
need to be built with "-sa".

Cheers,
Moritz

I am not sure I follow what you mean here. There was an incompatible
(and undocumented) "API" change not long ago, that in fact broke an
application I developed. It also happens that the change makes the
output/API inconsistent. What I am asking is to revert to the old behaviour.

Still weird. Can you attach the Xorg.log from the black screen and/or crash.

I doubt we failed to malloc the intel_pixmap, so the reason why the
intel_pixmap would be NULL is more likely due to failure to allocate the
GPU buffer object i.e. they are semantically interchangeable, an
attached intel_pixmap to a Pixmap implies we have a GPU bo. Similarly
checking for the intel_pixmap should be enough to assert that the GPU bo
exists.

Then that was a bug. Sometimes additional stuff will get added onto the end of
messages, with new features, but format and semantics of first part of output
changing is not good.

Dear Maintainer,

A have encountered that zip fails to write correct archive to
a pipe when its opened with O_APPEND option.

For example, this will create broken archive:

$ zip - file >> outfile

When this one works as planned:

$ zip - file | cat >> outfile

I found that zip makes lseeks while writing the archive file, but
it doesn't change its behavior while writing to the file opened with
the O_APPEND option.

Are you trying to create a self extracting executable with unzipsfx?

FWIW, I plan to try and backport the systemd-related fixes to the
live-config Wheezy branch in 2014Q1, so perhaps we could wait a bit
before removing the package, now that the problem is documented.

2013-10-16 Thread Aleksey Morarash
No, just packaging Erlang applications into zipped Erlang script
executable.

Its format can be described in next shell-script:

( echo '#!/usr/bin/env escript'
  echo '%%!-smp'
  zip -j - ebin/*; ) > target
chmod 755 target

But it works only when I add "| cat" after zip invocation:

( echo '#!/usr/bin/env escript'
  echo '%%!-smp'
  zip -j - ebin/* | cat; ) > target
chmod 755 target

And it seems mmc may be more reliable than nisamox.

Remember the last time we switched to mmc to avoid effort duplication on you
side, I was prompted to revert the change some days after because of political
reasons.

Bug#726556: pulseaudio: mic is dead after suspend

2013-10-16 Thread Stefan Krastanov
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 4.0-6
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

On a MacBook Pro 9.2 the speakers and internal microphone work, however the
following power-management issue exists with the internal microphone:

After suspend or simply after a long inactive periods without a suspend the
microphone does not work in any program (e.g. arecord, flash plugin). The
speaker works.

In the sound control center provided with gnome the microphone is still
present, however the sound-level bar does not move when I make noise.

After moving the recording volume slider the sound-level bar starts responding
to noise again and the microphone is usable again.

Pulseaudio should not require an explicit (and somewhat "magical") user action
for the microphone to work. It should be sufficient that a recording program is
running.

Tangential remarks about results from powertop:

When the microphone is not working `powertop` shows the following:

> Good - Runtime PM for PCI Device Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series
> Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller

After I move the recording volume slider and the microphone starts working
again `powertop` shows:

> Bad - Runtime PM for PCI Device Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series
> Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller

After I manually toggle it from within `powertop` back to `Good` the microphone
*continues* to work *fine*. The reverse: setting it manually to `Bad` when the
microphone is not working, does not cause the microphone to start working.

Best regards
Stefan Krastanov

Bug#701018: #701018 ITP: rtl-sdr -- Software defined radio receiver for Realtek RTL2832U dongles

2013-10-16 Thread A. Maitland Bottoms

Uwe> doesn't look like I'll have time to take care of rtl-sdr anytime soon,
Uwe> please consider my ITP retracted. If anyone of you guys wants to take

That is quite allright. It's been a wild ride following rtl-sdr
activity, but things seem to have settled into a form worth capturing
as Debian packages. That said, if you have any ideas on getting
upstream to move forward with sane version numbering and use of
library sonames and soversion, keep contributing!

Motivated by Jonathan Corgan's effort to come up with a consistant
set of GNU Radio community packages for his gr-live DVD project, I
have taken his set of revisions to upload new Debian packages.

So I have have been working toward getting gqrx-sdr into Debian.
It depends upon gr-osmosdr, and so I have uploaded all the
packages needed by gr-osmosdr into NEW already. I've got my
gqrx-sdr and gr-osmosdr packages in good shape, and they will
soon follow modulo any bugs turned up by the autobuilders for
various odd architectures.

Once this set of packages are accepted into Debian, I want to
put all the package development into git on Alioth under
collab-maint. Then I can start building a software defined
radio maintenance team. You are on my list - let me know what you
would like to see that would make it easier for you to contribute.
I'm thinking some git-buildpackage workflow - but I still haven't
learned much about that yet myself.

Thanks for your interest,
- -Maitland

Thanks Andreas:-)

1. Unless I missed something, mentors.debian.net forces subsequent
uploads to have the version incremented. So that would mean doing it
right first time!
2. Good idea. I will start the process right away.

Bug#726557: gimp: xsane menu no longer remembers attached scanner

2013-10-16 Thread Eric Cooper
Package: gimp
Version: 2.8.6-1
Severity: normal

At some point in the recent past, the File > Create > XSane command
would bring up a menu that included "Device dialog" as well as the
device name for my attached scanner
(hp:/usb/Photosmart_C4200_series?serial=NNN). That device name entry
no longer appears, just the "Device dialog" entry.

Ok, not a self-extracting executable, but something very similar,
something that anybody would think that it should work.

Bug#695966: kde-workspace-bin: KDE powerdevil sometimes incorrectly attempts to hibernate when resuming from suspend

2013-10-16 Thread Didier Raboud
Package: kde-workspace-bin
Version: 4:4.10.5-3
Followup-For: Bug #695966
Control: tags -1 +upstream

Hi all,

I'm experiencing a similar behaviour as explained in this bugreport:

with my Lenovo X220, when the additional battery is plugged in, the
internal battery drains first (that's the hardware managing the
drain-balancing I guess) and then PowerDevil insists to suspend the
laptop to disk (as I configured it to suspend-to-disk if there's less
than 4% of battery left). When waking up from suspend, powerdevil will
insist to suspend to disk again, no matter what the global battery state
is:

$ acpitool
  Battery #1 : Unknown, 0.00%
  Battery #2 : Discharging, 54.94%, 02:31:00

(Applet shows 54%).

This looks somewhat similar to [0]. As 'upower --dump' was requested, I
attached my output to this bugreport.

[0] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736835

That said, this is certainly an upstream bug and I would be happy to
bring my problem up to an upstream bugreport.

Cheers,

OdyX

Bug#726558: pu: package policykit-1/0.105-3+deb7u1

2013-10-16 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

As discussed in [1], I'd like to upload a fix for CVE-2013-4288 for
policykit-1 to stable.
The patch itself has been applied to the unstable version as well (in
0.105-3+nmu1).

Please let me know if I can proceed with the stable upload to get this
fix into 7.3.

Full debdiff is attached.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#726559: exaile: Segmentation fault after a second of playing

2013-10-16 Thread Thorsten Bonow
Package: exaile
Version: 3.3.1-1
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

since doing a complete update of my Debian Unstable computer today,
exaile starts up normally but when I try to play an mp3, it crashes
after a second of playing the file (see log below). Since there was no
update of exaile itself, the problem should be caused by the
interaction with a package updated on the 15. or 14. of October. After
the last update on the 13th, exaile did work. Up to now I haven't
figured out which package to downgrade in order to solve the problem.

Thx for your work and help.

I understand that. I am an avid user of Debian myself, since 1995.

That is fine. But then special care should be taken to correctly configure
NFS mounts to either simply work with fcntl locks, or fail without
hanging. Once procmail has to lock, the fcntl can either succeed, fail or
hang indefinitely. Once it hangs indefinitely, procmail has no means to
fix it.

Well, I wasn't asking that, I was just remarking that after procmail has
been compiled, there is not a lot of leeway to fix things at runtime.

player also has this bug; it appears that nothing else does.

Both of them have had this bug in Ubuntu for about a year without anyone

used); I have reported it there as

Hi.

I installed gnome-session-flashback and I would like to thank you people for
keeping it alive (depending on my free time, I may even lend a hand with the
maintainance).

That being said, can the screensaver be demoted to a Recommends instead of a
hard dependency?

Thanks,

Bug#726562: nautilus: White background when nautilus is managing the desktop

2013-10-16 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: nautilus
Version: 3.8.2-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

With my machine up to date, nautilus is drawing a white background when
it's managing the desktop instead of the expected wallpaper. I can
reproduce this with a new empty profile.

I'm not sure this is directly related to nautilus, this might be caused
by other libraries in the stack.

Cheers

Hello,

The p11-kit experimental upload currently only supports static
linking, since symbols were dropped upstream without a soname bump and
I need to doublecheck that they have not been used.

2013-10-16 Thread Radu Spineanu
That is a good question. There hasn't been a new version of xmail
since around my last upload. At the time Davide planned IMAP support
but I don't believe that's going to happen anymore.

I'll send an email to the creator of XMail to see what his plans are.
If he doesn't want to continue working on it we should stop supporting
it. If he does, I'll push a fix.

2013-10-16 Thread Guillaume Gimenez

Hi folks,

I'm also concerned by this problem.

What I have noticed during investigations is that all gnome services
attempting to use gnome-settings-daemon complain about dconf with
messages like

(gnome-settings-daemon:7139): dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create
directory '/run/user/0/dconf': Permission denied. doconf will not work
properly.

there is maybe a problem somewhere with the format string (e.g. the %d)
since the actual users are never uid=0

Guillaume

This shows that the BTS knew what the package was at least at some point
in time. I'll have to check this out more closely later.

Done.

I mostly agree with the "sliding scale" idea. Documenting everything to
every minor detail is not always good and one has to choose where to put
the limit.

Bug#726567: base: same pty allocated to multiple processes

2013-10-16 Thread Kris Coward
Package: base
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have a screen session running on my machine so that I can ssh in (or mosh
in) and reattach to it from an assortment of remote machines.

Recently, when connecting from my phone (and android running connectbot),
attempts to reattach to the screen (i.e. screen -d -r as the first command
upon login) get the error message:

Attaching from inside of screen?

Since the error message is bogus, I ran tty and got:

/dev/pts/2

Running ps x to see if this tty is already allocated, I can see one of the
processed inside screen is already using it:

27608 pts/2Ss+0:00 vi /home/kris/web/unripe/schedule.html

Not knowing whether this is a bug in screen, in sshd, or in the kernel,
(e.g. is screen using the tty without identifying it as in use, or
releasing it while still in use, or is the kernel doling out ttys that
it knows are already in use, or is sshd grabbing an in-use tty--or maybe
something else entirely is involved), I've reported it as a bug in base.

Oddly, this error only arises when I connect from my phone, using
connectbot (v1.7.1 2010.10.08 on an SGH-T839 with 2.2.1 firmware).
Applying Postel's Law, I'm inclined to believe this means that both
connectbot and something on the server are buggy.

I'd really appreciate a fix.

Thanks,
Kris

The current svn revision still recommends default-jre because of the
included wrapper scripts squiggle, rasterizer, ttf2svg and svgpp. The
recommendation for default-jre is the only thing that bothers me. The
current dependencies on jre-headless go against the current java policy
but the current package also needs a working JRE to run the
aforementioned wrapper scripts. I think recommending default-jre is a
kind of compromise here.

I agree with Emmanuel Bourg's comment from the list that it is more
reasonable to split the package in libbatik-java and batik. I have done
this locally and all reverse dependencies (except osmosis that FTBFS
because of another bug) still build fine. Though I'm not 100% sure if
one of those r-deps expects one of the wrapper scripts to be included in
libbatik-java, otherwise it would be simple.

Splitting the package is a rather big change and I still hesitate to
implement it without getting feedback from one of batik's past uploaders
and I don't intend to become an uploader for batik myself.

Hence I think uploading the current changes would be a good idea and I
will attach a patch for #566901 soon.

Markus

IMO e) is important too.

However given that cdn.debian.net is already advertised while not official, I
see no reason to not including the service officialy supported by mirror team.

So let's add it.

openr2's config.guess/config.sub are out of date for the forthcoming
arm64 port. This appears to be just because it's running autoreconf

fixes that.

You might like to take the opportunity to switch to dh-autoreconf, which
will improve clean handling and such.

I accidentally assigned the bug to xserver-xorg-video-intel at first but
now I believe libgl1-mesa-dri is the correct package.

According to

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/commit/?id=bdf3f50e9a85e4c063b46ceaf23bceb07b06b82e

the fix should be part of the 9.2 branch of Mesa. Perhaps the actual
libgl1-mesa-dri package in Debian experimental does already include it.

Bug#726571: RlwrapFilter.pm should be /usr/share/perl5/App/Rlwrap/Filter.pm

2013-10-16 Thread Ivan Shmakov
Package: rlwrap
Version: 0.37-3
Severity: wishlist

The conventional namespace for application-specific Perl modules
is App::⟨package name⟩::⟨module name…⟩.  Moreover, the
conventional directory for Perl modules is /usr/share/perl5, and
indeed, – it’s already in @INC, while /usr/share/rlwrap isn’t.

Therefore, my suggestion would be to move RlwrapFilter.pm from
/usr/share/rlwrap to /usr/share/perl5/App/Rlwrap/Filter.pm, and
edit its ‘package’ line (as well as the filters’ ‘use’ lines)
respectively. (In order to preserve compatibility, a
“redirecting” .pm may be installed at the former location.)

This will bring the module in line with the other Perl modules
in Debian, and will allow for a Perl filter to be started with
simple ‘use App::Rlwrap::Filter;’ instead of the current form,
which explicitly the Perl module search path (as shown below.)

use lib ($ENV{RLWRAP_FILTERDIR} or ".");
use RlwrapFilter;

AIUI, the non-standard RLWRAP_FILTERDIR becomes completely
unnecessary after the change, but may be retained for
compatibility with the filters following the current convention.

Help with that is more then welcome! In the current (broken) state, it's
unlikely we are going to ship it with jessie.

Why?
gnome-session-flashback is a meta package, the point is to pull in the
necessary components and unfortunately too many disable or don't install
recommends.

The status didn't change, the strategy from us was to remove it from
testing for now and not let it re-enter until a non-hal version exists.

There's more recent code in git (http://git.xfce.org/apps/squeeze/), and
especially a non hal port, but I'm unsure its state at that point (thus
the reason for the testing removal).

I looks to me --with-colons will show both revocation of the public keys
and uids, e.g. here's my old revoked key:

pub:r:1024:17:C8D53F30F42163A4:2006-08-25:::-:Philip Jägenstedt
::sca:
uid:r2008-06-30::FB9A4CAE39D8CE6BADFFF3E7D87D69568335E1FD::Philip

It's true that --list-secret-keys --with-colons doesn't show which uids
are revoked, but I don't think that's relevant when trying to determine
(programatically) whether or not the key/uid is revoked/expired.
