That's the problem, /etc/emacs23/site-start.d is shipped in
emacs23-common and has somehow gone AWOL on your system. You need to
figure out how that happened.

Worked for me, it seems that some other package or script removed the
directory. Reinstalling emacs23-common should bring it back.

Bug#701961: clusterssh: does not follow .ssh/config anymore

2013-03-01 Thread Teodor

Hi,

This is a big regression from previous version (4.01.01).
I have per host configuration in .ssh/config for default user name.
In cssh clusters file I only add the hostnames. With the current
version (4.01.04) it tries to connect using my current user.

Others will have to decide on that, but it seems a bit high to me. This
is an experimental kernel and you do hopefully not try to install it
without keeping a working version as well?

Bug#701965: busybox mdev creates deep subdirs in /dev with 0777 permissions

2013-03-01 Thread Michael Tokarev
Package: busybox
Version: 1:1.20.0-7
Severity: important
Tags: security patch upstream fixed-upstream pending

When device node or symlink in /dev should be created inside
2-or-deeper subdirectory (/dev/dir1/dir2.../node), the
intermediate directories are incorrectly created with mode
0777, which is an obvious security issue.

mdev is an alternative for udev, but since udev is used
almost universally, and many packages depend on it, mdev
isn't used often. Also, subdirs of more than one level
are not common, especially with mdev which, unlike udev,
has limited "language" to construct filenames/symlinks,
so often, when mdev is used, a task of creating device
nodes with complex names is implemented using an external
script instead. However it is important to fix this to
avoid surprizes.

The issue has been fixed upstream in commit
4609f477c7e043a4f6147dfe6e86b775da2ef784.

Bug#701968: several busybox applets may fail or produce garbage

2013-03-01 Thread Michael Tokarev
Package: busybox
Version: 1:1.20.0-7
Severity: important
Tags: patch upstream fixed-upstream pending

Several bugs (typos) has been found in busybox in macros that
performs conversion from host words to unaligned buffers, one
in generic code and two more in compression library (xz).

First bug (generic move_to_unaligned16() implementation) copies
2 more bytes than necessary, thus can overflow the destination,
which may cause either memory corruption or a segmentation fault.

Second bug in xz is wrong usage of move_to_unaligned16 (which
copied 4 instead of 2 bytes by accident) to handle 32bit
quantities - is exposed when the first bug is fixed.

Other usages of move_to_unaligned16() in whole busybox sources
appears to be okay.

The severity is important because the overflow usually goes
silent but may produce garbage output, which leads to data
corruption in archivals. Reportedly this happens on sparc.

Thanks for reporting this and pointing out the fix! This should be
included in tig-1.1-1, which is currently available in experimental.
Would you mind double-checking that?

I do consider this to be an important bug and I should be able to get it
into Wheezy through unstable (unless any build-deps come into the way).
So, I hope to get the fix into Wheezy.

Bug#675345: gnome-shell: I confirm this bug

2013-03-01 Thread Jacob Barkdull
I can confirm this bug.

Though, I have not found a concrete way to reproduce the freeze.
However, it happens just as most of the people have reported, it's
seemingly random, and I can still move the mouse but everything else
doesn't visually respond. "Ctrl+Alt+F1 -> killall gnome-shell" works to
restart gnome-shell, and all is well until it freezes again.

The only bit of information I can give is that my current system was
setup by installing Debian Squeeze then upgrading to Wheezy. And that I
have my keyboard set to nearly no delay and very fast speed.

Is it possibly just faulty hardware? Can a video card break in such a
way that only a specific graphic function can make a program
unresponsive?

Works for me, and apparently for everyone else. Your emacs23
installation appears to be broken, see #701944. Reinstall the
emacs23-common package and retry.

Bug#701973: scidavis: Installation in /usr/lib64

2013-03-01 Thread Emmanuel QUEMENER
Package: scidavis
Version: 0.2.4-3.3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Standard installation of scidavis

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Only installation of package.

Package install in /usr/lib64 which is not used by any other Debian packages in
Wheezy.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

As border effect, it breaks installation process of AMD/ATI recent drivers
because of ati-installer
discovering /usr/lib64 existing folder.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Put scidavis in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

Best regards

Yes, I'm aware. My packaging effort will initially concentrate on getting
the package into shape for squeeze and wheezy. This will obviously not be
in the Debian archve. Indeed it seems reasonable to upload to unstable
after 2.4 lands there.

I'll give it a spin with 2.4 soon so we can give upstream some time to fix
issues should they arise.

It is even easier to fix. Even more, that method above will not work if
you have a proper partition layout keeping /usr and /var on different
partitions.

Just mount your / rw on the prompt, then replace the broken fsck by
/bin/true:
   rm /sbin/fsck.btrfs
   ln -s /bin/true !$

Sync and reboot. No need for network, no need to fiddle with installing
stuff on this very limited prompt (in some cases) ... More fail-safe.

After the reboot it is easy to just let it this way until a fixed
package comes out or install a older version like Axel mentioned above.
But there is no need for it as the fsck of old version is even just a
dummy.

   Klaus

Hi,

Could you please remove the libtelepathy-logger2 binary package from
experimental?

The library got a soname bump but due to a mistake, the package was not
properly renamed.

Keeping this package in experimental is causing issues to users that are
installing it as the new libtelepathy-logger3 package is Breaking it and
apt will not downgrade the package to the version in that is currently
in unstable.

Bug#701979: lcms: Speed up of 16bit tetrahedral interpolation code

2013-03-01 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: lcms
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

The Ghostscript project embedded code copy of lcms includes a patch
which seems to not have been passed (or at least adopted) upstream, and
might be interesting to consider:
http://git.ghostscript.com/?p=ghostpdl.git;a=commit;h=f1c4efc

Here is the commit message for the patch:

Speed up of lcms 16bit tetrahedral interpolation code.

This color table interpolation is used primarily where we have 16 bit image
data or
are doing spatial interpolation of image data. The change introduces
some very minor changes across quite a few files that have 16 bit
data or for which spatial interpolation is occurring. No changes occur at the
white
or black table points.

The code differences involved moving the decision tree outside the loop and
performing
the normalization divide by an add and shift.

This change can be readily moved to lcms2.

Regards,

 - Jonas

I noticed an easy workaround, to get rid of the effect once it
appeared: Press alt-f2 and then "r" for a restart of gnome-shell. This
will get rid of all the artefacts that happen. I guess this also points
that the issue actually lies within gnome-shell and not some other part,
does it?

 Enjoy,

could you please unblock the soprano package? the latest upload workarounds a
problem which makes the default installation of virtuoso as standalone server
hang.

To reproduce the problem you can just do:
apt-get install virtuoso-opensource-6.1
while using kde; without the fix the virtuoso postinst script will hang.

Thank you.

+Description: If possible, don't use the default virtuso port ()
+ Soprano launches a Virtuoso server using an unix socket (/tmp/virt_ where
+ is the tcp port specified in the configuration file). It tries first with
+ the /tmp/virt_ port if it's availaible, and if it's not, keeps trying with
+ above ports one by one until it finds an usuable /tmp/virt_. Starting with
+ is a very unfortunate choice, because if you start other virtuoso server
+ configured to use the same port (note that is the default), then it would
+ fail to start. It should fail and return, but currently it hangs.
+ .
+ When installing virtuoso-opensource-6.1, the postinst script will try to start
+ Virtuoso using the default port in order to change the admin password. So
+ the problem is the following: since the unix socket /tmp/virt_ is
+ (probably) already being used by the Virtuoso instance started by Soprano, the
+ Virtuoso instance started by the postinst script would hang (as explained in
+ the paragraph above), breaking the installation.

Bug#701983: scidavis: Installation of scidavis in /usr/lib64

2013-03-01 Thread Emmanuel QUEMENER
Package: scidavis
Version: 0.2.4-3.3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Installation of scidavis

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

When installing AMD/ATI third party drivers, installation process puts
files in /usr/lib64 instead of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu because
/usr/lib64 exists.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Put scidavis plugins in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

Best regards.

Just trying to install wheezy in UEFI mode again on the Intel DH77EB
motherboard, now with firmware version 99 and the latest daily build
of debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso. Still the same result: the
resulting Debian installation is unbootable.

Here is output when I install and boot Ubuntu 12.10:

$ sudo efibootmgr --verbose
BootCurrent: 0002
Timeout: 1 seconds
BootOrder: 0002,0003,
Boot* debianVendor(99e275e7-75a0-4b37-a2e6-c5385e6c00cb,)

In Debian rescue mode after installing Debian, replacing the previous
Ubuntu installation:

# efibootmgr --verbose
BootCurrent: 0003
Timeout: 1 seconds
BootOrder: 0003,0002,
Boot* debianVendor(99e275e7-75a0-4b37-a2e6-c5385e6c00cb,)
Boot0002* ubuntuVendor(99e275e7-75a0-4b37-a2e6-c5385e6c00cb,)
Boot0003* UEFI : USB : 0.00 : PART 0 : OS Bootloader
ACPI(a0341d0,0)PCI(1d,0)USB(1,0)USB(1,0)HD(1,10a74,380,27f931c5)AMBO

Running 'grub-install /dev/sda' in Debian rescue mode causes the
debian line to change to this:

Boot* debian
HD(1,800,f3800,f8636d01-62af-4d23-9ab6-5b22c5ffd5e6)File(\EFI\debian\grubx64.efi)

But like I said in a previous email, upon reboot this disappears, and
reentering rescue mode shows the
"Vendor(99e275e7-75a0-4b37-a2e6-c5385e6c00cb,)" line for debian
instead.

Notice how there is no UEFI SATA hard drive in the efibootmgr output
on Debian. That's probably the problem, since the debian line needs to
refer to that device, but I have no idea why Ubuntu has this properly
and Debian lacks it.

Anything printed comes out offset about 1cm right and 1cm up. This is
mildly annoying for most purposes. Applications that depend on exact
positioning, Glabels in particular, are rendered useless. I have a
Squeeze machine that prints things perfectly aligned. Printing to the
same printer with a freshly-installed Wheezy machine yields these
misalignments.

Printer is a Brother MFC7360N laser printer-scan-fax combo. I'm using
CUPS and lpr. All applications that print exhibit this problem. It is
particularly troublesome when exact alignment is necessary, like when
printing sheets of labels.

Because without deluser the user/group would not be removed. So I
decided to only remove the logfiles if the user/group are gone, so to

Removing log files on purge unconditionally doesn't generate such a

My understanding was that it has to be insured that when a user is
removed, I need to make sure that no files that are owned by this user
are to be left on the filesystem.
I know what you mean, that I could remove the logfiles directory no
matter what happens to the user/group. I can do this in celery-2.5.3-4

You're using a kernel from experimental with a non-standard setup,
this definitely doesn't qualify for severity 'critical', adjusting.

Bug#701981: unblock: soprano/2.7.6+dfsg.1-3

Unfortunately we can't do that as things are:

$ grep-excuses soprano
soprano (2.7.6+dfsg.1-2 to 2.7.6+dfsg.1-3)
[...]
Depends: soprano redland (not considered)

The new redland package doesn't look suitable for an unblock, so either
the dependency from soprano needs to be loosened (if appropriate), or
this will need an update via t-p-u.

Correct. Better keep the user around than leave unowned files on disk.

Bug#697970: closed by Didier Raboud (Bug#697970: fixed in cups 1.5.3-2.15)

2013-03-01 Thread Denis Prost

Unfortunately, the problem is still there : here is what I did :

1) reset options : since the new unstable release is supposed to fix the
problem, no need to keep them :

lpadmin -p Stylus_Photo_750 -R usb-unidir-default
lpadmin -p Stylus_Photo_750 -R usb-no-reattach-default

2) apt-get install cups/unstable => cups is upgraded to 1.5.3-2.15 with
its dependencies and restarted

3) switch off and on the printer

4) try to print => first job (one page) OK, second job (one page) fails
the same way it used to with previous cups release and no special
lpadmin option

The upstream changeset associated with that includes unrelated changes
to the macro. Attached gcc4.8_trac-7242.patch includes only the fix
for the unused local typedef warnings.

Fix is not yet in any released upstream version.

Many unused local typedef warnings remain that do not appear to be
addressed upstream or cause the build to fail.

>> ./boost/thread/xtime.hpp:23:5: error: expected identifier
>> before numeric constant

This is . C11
introduces a macro (TIME_UTC) that conflicts with a boost enum; the
macro is maybe present with eglibc-2.16 and later. Again, the
associated upstream changeset includes some unrelated. Attached
c11_trac-6490.patch includes only the fix for this enum issue.

This fix is in boost 1.50 (according to trac).

These two patches are sufficient to _build_ boost1.49 with gcc-4.8 and
eglibc-2.17, and the produced binary packages are sufficient to build
anytun [1], libzeep [1], and aptitude [2]. I lack the resources to
test more thoroughly.

Regards

[1] Selected as a quick test for its small size and few
build-depends.

[2] Aptitude also suffers from a similar issue with google-mock,
but builds ok for the parts using boost.

Bug#701993: lcms2: Please release recent code needed by recent Ghostscript

2013-03-01 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: lcms2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Recent Ghostscript require lcms2 with support for threaded operation.

Ghostscript ships with a fork of lcms2 containing improvements that have
since February 16th been merged into upstream lcms2 project.

Please consider issuing a packaging release containing these changes, so
that Ghostscript in Debian can continue to avoid duplicate code copies.

The code needed by Ghostscript was adopted shortly after the 2.4 release
so arguably most elegant would be to package the formal release with the
patches cherry-picked and included and applied separately in the Debian
package.

 - Jonas

Package: squashfs-tools

Dear maintainer,

Recently you fixed one or more security problems and as a result you closed
this bug. These problems were not serious enough for a Debian Security
Advisory, so they are now on my radar for fixing in the following suites
through point releases:

squeeze (6.0.7) - use target "stable"

Please prepare a minimal-changes upload targetting each of these suites,
and submit a debdiff to the Release Team [0] for consideration. They will
offer additional guidance or instruct you to upload your package.

I will happily assist you at any stage if the patch is straightforward and
you need help. Please keep me in CC at all times so I can
track [1] the progress of this request.

For details of this process and the rationale, please see the original
announcement [2] and my blog post [3].

Bug#692967: yubikey-personalization-gui: Doesn't detect my yubikey

2013-03-01 Thread Klas Lindfors
Hello,

This is a known issue with the program, either solved by running as root or
getting the udev rule included in the yubikey-personalization package.

As all users of the libykpers library have to do this we're in the process
of moving the udev rules to the library package instead.

Seems like ATX->recipient now points somewhere on the stack, and thus in
la-la-land at the end of the loop in process_users. Is there any
guarantee it's not reused after that? The scoping is kind of
non-obvious...

Using reportbug (which does have support for nm.debian.org) would be one

I'm not overly happy with this patch. The multiarch "fixes" just
hardcode two paths in an arch:all package with no apparent x86
dependency. And the /etc/console-setup stuff looks like it'd break if
two files match the glob. I'm more tempted by a removal at this point
to be honest.

In Ubuntu, instead of applying the full patch against 1.49, we went
for a minimalistic hack/patch to workaround TIME_UTC in eglibc-2.16.
Simply undef TIME_UTC if defined.

Did you check the RAM in that machine? This seems more likely to be

Bug#701995: adequate: Reports removed, but still configured packages with missing-copyright-file

2013-03-01 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: adequate
Version: 0.4.1
Severity: normal

Dear Jakub,

thanks for that nice tool.

I noticed one issue:

$ adequate --all
[...]
ilisp: missing-copyright-file /usr/share/doc/ilisp/copyright
[...]
$ adequate ilisp
ilisp: missing-copyright-file /usr/share/doc/ilisp/copyright
$ dpkg -L ilisp
/etc
/etc/ilisp
/etc/ilisp/ilisp-keybindings.el
/etc/ilisp/ilisp.el
/etc/emacs
/etc/emacs/site-start.d
/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50ilisp.el

So far, so good. But:

$ dpkg -l ilisp
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name   Version  Architecture Description
+++-==---=
rc ilisp 5.12.0+cvs.2 all Emacs interface to LISP implement
$

While it's surely true that there's no more copyright installed for
removed but still configured packages, adequate at least shouldn't
include such packages with --all.

If called with a removed package directly, it should maybe better to
warn about that fact.

P.S.: It's probably an interesting question if removed package which
still have some conffiles around should also have a copyright file
present. Probably depends on the intellectual value of the conffile.

I can confirm that tig_1.1-1_amd64 from experimental does not suffer
from this bug.

That sounds great.

Bug#701997: unblock: iptables/1.4.14-3.1 (tpu)

Hi,

I've prepared an iptables NMU for tpu. Source and binary (for
iptables.deb) debdiff follow. It would probably make sense to binNMU
iproute and xtables-addons-common once this is in.

Cheers,
Julien

The value for includedir is expected. guile-config is deprecated for
some time and swig should be using ‘pkg-config guile-2.0 --cflags’
rather than messing with includedir directly.

$ pkgconfig guile-2.0 --cflags
-pthread -I/usr/include/guile/2.0

Support for guile-2.0 in swig is quite neglected.

Bug#700169: non-free license: requires to obey US export regulation even, when not in the US

2013-03-01 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Hi,

I took a brief look at the upstream website. The download site [1]
points to two other pages for downloads ([2] and [3]), one of them
having the non-free license, the other a BSD/GPL dual-license.
Interestingly both of these ask to accept the non-free license...

They both contain a different link to a source tarball. I downloaded
both and compared them: they only differ in the license headers in the
individual files.

The files in acpica-unix-20130214.tar.gz have the non-free license.
The files in acpica-unix2-20130214.tar.gz have a 3-clause BSD license or

Is that expected to work for a program that uses both libboost-thread

Your patch logic looks complicated (multiple filters). What are the

Bug#702001: unblock: opendnssec/1:1.3.9-5

Please unblock package opendnssec

Hi,

I have split the doxygen generated documentation to separate package
named opendnssec-doc, which is arch-indep, so it doesn't get built on
buildds. This is a workaround for failing doxygen on kfreebsd-i386
(#701832), e.g. you can set it wheezy-ignore. This has also the
advantage that the size of binary packages has dropped by one
magnitude, since the doxygen documentation is 52M unpacked. I should
have noticed this earlier :(.

This debian release also fixes a small problem when configure didn't
know about pkill from procps and thus some reload commands didn't work
properly (#701703). While not critical, this is an annoying bug with
very small fix.

Debdiff attached.

Bug#700169: non-free license: requires to obey US export regulation even, when not in the US

2013-03-01 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
I also checked the initial Debian package on snapshot.debian.org
(version 20050930-1). It also has only the non-free license in the
individual files, but states "Dual GPLv2/ACPICA Licence" in d/copyright.
It also has the BSD-3-clause-or-GPL-2 bit in d/copyright.

It's likely that it was already dual-licensed, but that this wasn't
documented in the tarball itself. I'm not sure why they now have two
tarballs instead of one with both licenses... The "GNU General Public
License or via a separate license that may be more favorable to
commercial OSVs" (from the FAQ) seems also wrong given there are *three*
licenses: the non-free one, a 3-clause BSD and the GPL-2.

Hi,

I haven't forget this bug but I don't know what would be the best
solution here...
