Bug#688190: ssvnc: vncviewer fails to nudge gnome screensaver in fullscreen mode
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Package: ssvnc Version: 1.0.29-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I use ssvnc to access my desktop, and often work in fullscreen mode for extended periods of time (more than 10 minutes). After pressing F9 to disable fullscreen mode (to access my laptop's Gnome desktop again), i am presented with a locked desktop, which i have to unlock. My understanding is that vncviewer does not report my activity to Gnome, Gnome thinks that i'm AFK, fires up gnome-screensaver, which then locks my screen - all the while i'm working in a fullscreen VNC session, and when i interrupt this session, i find my screen locked. - -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.6.0-rc3-custom+ (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ssvnc depends on: ii bind9-host [host] 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2 ii host 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2 ii libc6 2.13-35 ii libice62:1.0.8-2 ii libjpeg8 8d-1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.1-2 ii libssl1.0.01.0.1c-4 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1 ii libxaw72:1.0.10-2 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2 ii libxmu62:1.1.1-1 ii libxpm41:3.5.10-1 ii libxt6 1:1.1.3-1 ii openssh-client 1:6.0p1-3 ii openssl1.0.1c-4 ii procps 1:3.3.3-2 ii psmisc 22.19-1 ii stunnel4 3:4.53-1 ii tk 8.5.0-2 ii xterm 278-2 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 Versions of packages ssvnc recommends: ii default-jre [java5-runtime]1:1.6-47 ii gcj-4.4-jre [java5-runtime]4.4.5-2 ii gcj-4.7-jre [java5-runtime]4.7.1-3 ii gcj-jre [java5-runtime]4:4.7.1-1 ii openjdk-6-jre [java5-runtime] 6b24-1.11.4-3 ssvnc suggests no packages. - -- no debconf information -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJQWsR+AAoJEOs4Jb6SI2CwYU8IAMxCYcEDy+94mro4IxOj3y9t vty42T9cLqzLy7o2f6bgYT3VVclWr+ddRW/JhLXcCbKzUsXOPNI3C8ratxOZnNuY g6UDQXgoG43AR8JW9cGyd9b7jUhq0EOSKhtxo7J2oGOKYlN9wITbT4sjJ2Juf6oL iHctYCJDTqx6TQHfqqzIF39zEpqjWeq4iCW3vjRk31Dys2iuWT4+rrZWWeARjzcL GYj7n3KckMiJiU8kfJLqR5UBxIG0pf794AkZF2xQBkzAtWNh6NGDgLszhtnK2D7m E7O+fHcejywTgSVBtmEAbKU1e6koAB0pMM6FHPiygLV0rljT7wcyEzSMqZHMm0E= =ebSr -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Translation-only updates seem to get accepted quickly (cf. nvidia-support, nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-96xx). And I want to get this update in wheezy quickly to avoid collecting a lot of duplicates of the "on amd64, wine 32bit opengl does not work any more" bug (due to having the old monolithic ia32-libs installed). Furthermore it contains wrong or missing information - that was not yet available during the previous translation round. So while I appreciate your i18n efforts (and try to make my packages translation friendly), I think it would be better to temporarily have a partially translated fglrx-driver package in wheezy. And we are talking about non-free here. So hopefully once the package migrates, I can make another i18n upload with all the translations (that could even be aged to get in more quickly). Unfortunately lending/donating a NanoNote isn't currently possible. I think we came to the conclusion that a sponsor should build it in qemu, send xiangfu the unsigned binary package for testing and only sign and upload it after xiangfu has successfully tested it. Once we get MIPS cross-compilers[1] in Debian it could simply be cross-compiled instead. 1. http://gsoc.sitedethib.com/posts/State_of_Multiarch_Cross-toolchains_three_weeks_after_GSoC/ -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I do not know the lvm2 package well enough to judge whether "fixing the initscript" is a safe solution for squeeze (or if there are some other implicit dependencies relying on the current setup) and if there may have been other related fixes in wheezy. So I did not want to touch the initscript dependency graph in squeeze (i.e. removing an edge). Instead I thought explicitly adding the package dependency that currently makes lvm2 "just work" out of the box should have less potential to cause problems. I just forwarded the thread to #603036 (that I want to get fixed), perhaps the maintainers have some more input on this. Looks like I missed to set a proper X-Debbugs-Cc initially ... Package: python-cliapp Version: 1.20120630-1 Severity: important Tags: patch runcmd.py uses the errno module in line 93 without first importing it. The patch below adds the missing import. Bug#680822: aptitude install libphonon-dev phonon-backend-gstreamer fails
Hi, On Thu, 20 Sep 2012 12:13:22 +0200 Sune Vuorela wrote: > please cancel it. Okay, canceled. Thanks. > The dependency on phonon *is* correct. Hmm, just a question. phonon package contains no files $ dpkg -L phonon /. /usr /usr/share /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/phonon /usr/share/doc/phonon/copyright /usr/share/doc/phonon/changelog.Debian.gz and just has a dependency for some packages. $ dpkg -s phonon Package: phonon (snip) Version: 4:4.6.0.0-2 Depends: libphonon4 (>= 4:4.6.0.0-2), debconf (>= 0.5) | debconf-2.0, phonon-backend-vlc | phonon-backend Well, if above dependency would be filled, it seems that specify phonon-backend will be appropriate option and it is. Bug#688213: fontforge: Why "--with-freetype-bytecode" only in Ubuntu?
Package: fontforge Version: 0.0.20120101+git-2 Severity: minor Hi, I wonder why the fontforge build is configured "--with-freetype-bytecode" only for Ubuntu. It seems this was introduced on purpose in GIT commit 84e75ad "Updated to version 0.0.20080828." but it is nowhere documented why only Ubuntu should get the bytecode interpreter but not Debian. Please consider enabling this option for Debian as well, escpecially since the bytecode interpreter has been enabled by default by freetype upstream since version 2.4. - Fabian -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (901, 'testing'), (501, 'unstable'), (401, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-3-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.utf8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages fontforge depends on: ii libc6 2.13-35 ii libcairo2 1.12.2-2 ii libfontconfig12.9.0-7 ii libfontforge1 0.0.20120101+git-2 ii libfreetype6 2.4.9-1 ii libgdraw4 0.0.20120101+git-2 ii libgif4 4.1.6-9.1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.3-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.8-2 ii libjpeg8 8d-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii libpng12-01.2.49-1 ii libpython2.7 2.7.3~rc2-2.1 ii libsm62:1.2.1-2 ii libspiro0 20071029-2 ii libtiff4 3.9.6-7 ii libuninameslist0 0.0.20091231-1.1 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1 ii libxft2 2.3.1-1 ii libxml2 2.8.0+dfsg1-5 ii zlib1g1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 fontforge recommends no packages. Bug#688160: libnl1 removal not targetted at wheezy
Hi, since this question came up, I wanted to clarify that removing libnl1 is not a release goal for wheezy and wheezy will definitely ship with libnl1! Unstable is currently frozen in preparation for wheezy. I don't consider updating to libnl-3.x as important enough which would warrant a freeze exception by the release team. So please wait with such an upload to unstable until jessie is open for development. An upload to experimental while wheezy is frozen would be appreciated though. I'm sorry if this caused any confusion. I just wanted to give you an early heads-up. My plan is to remove libnl1 early during the jessie release cycle. Bug#688219: devscripts: [debdiff] optionally apply 3.0 (quilt) patches before diffing
Package: devscripts Version: 2.12.3 Severity: wishlist Suppose you have this version sequence: foo 1.2.3-1 (upstream release) foo 1.2.3-2 (Debian maintainer applies patches) foo 1.2.4-1 (upstream applies our patches, and makes more fixes) and now you want to get 1.2.3-2 -> 1.2.4-1 reviewed by the release team, or read its diff yourself for QA, or whatever. The most representative diff to use is between the patched source trees that we compile: it's distracting for the diffstat to include a bunch of changes that were accepted upstream moving from debian/patches/foo to upstream source changes. (More concretely, telepathy-mission-control-5 1:5.12.1-1, 1:5.12.1-3 and 1:5.12.3-1 had this happen.) I attach a crude version of this change. --- /usr/bin/debdiff 2012-09-15 20:26:37.0 +0100 +++ /home/smcv/bin/debdiff 2012-09-20 14:13:45.248516568 +0100 @@ -108,6 +108,7 @@ # Start by setting default values my $ignore_dirs = 1; +my $apply_patches = 0; my $compare_control = 1; my $controlfiles = 'control'; my $show_moved = 0; @@ -138,6 +139,7 @@ 'DEBDIFF_WDIFF_SOURCE_CONTROL' => 'no', 'DEBDIFF_AUTO_VER_SORT' => 'no', 'DEBDIFF_UNPACK_TARBALLS' => 'yes', + 'DEBDIFF_APPLY_PATCHES' => 'no', ); my %config_default = %config_vars; @@ -183,6 +185,7 @@ $show_moved = $config_vars{'DEBDIFF_SHOW_MOVED'} eq 'yes' ? 1 : 0; $wdiff_opt = $config_vars{'DEBDIFF_WDIFF_OPT'} =~ /^-([plt])$/ ? $1 : ''; $show_diffstat = $config_vars{'DEBDIFF_SHOW_DIFFSTAT'} eq 'yes' ? 1 : 0; +$apply_patches = $config_vars{'DEBDIFF_APPLY_PATCHES'} eq 'yes' ? 1 : 0; $wdiff_source_control = $config_vars{'DEBDIFF_WDIFF_SOURCE_CONTROL'} eq 'yes' ? 1 : 0; $auto_ver_sort = $config_vars{'DEBDIFF_AUTO_VER_SORT'} eq 'yes' ? 1 : 0; @@ -269,6 +272,7 @@ shift; } elsif ($ARGV[0] eq '--diffstat') { $show_diffstat = 1; shift; } +elsif ($ARGV[0] eq '--apply-patches') { $apply_patches = 1; shift; } elsif ($ARGV[0] =~ /^--no-?diffstat$/) { $show_diffstat = 0; shift; } elsif ($ARGV[0] eq '--wdiff-source-control') { $wdiff_source_control = 1; shift; } elsif ($ARGV[0] =~ /^--no-?wdiff-source-control$/) { $wdiff_source_control = 0; shift; } @@ -580,7 +584,7 @@ for my $i (1,2) { no strict 'refs'; my @opts = ('-x'); - push (@opts, '--skip-patches') if $dscformats[$i] eq '3.0 (quilt)'; + push (@opts, '--skip-patches') if $dscformats[$i] eq '3.0 (quilt)' && ! $apply_patches; my $diri = ${"dir$i"}; eval { spawn(exec => ['dpkg-source', @opts, $dscs[$i]],

Bug#688187: unblock: scim/1.4.14-2

So, release > managers, can you consider to unblock scim to fix RC as well? Yamane-San, thank you for your report. Hello from Tokyo, how are you? Your analysis is spot on, scim-anthy fails to build from scratch due to a newer scim version not having migrated yet from unstable to testing. I'll answer here hoping to save the release team a bit of time. Scim already has an unblock request open for a while (bug 680335 which also has some background information) . The problem was externally induced by a concurrent upload of a build dependency just before the freeze, leading to an FTBFS for the version we uploaded just before the deadline. The fix for this was simple enough yet it went in after the freeze, meaning that the release team now needs to review not only this small fix but the changes we uploaded just before the freeze as well :-( For this they need more time, but I can assure you that they are aware of the situation. Bug#688223: emacspeak: modifies conffiles (policy 10.7.3): /etc/emacspeak.conf
Package: emacspeak Version: 29.0-8 Severity: serious Tags: squeeze-ignore User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts Control: found -1 emacspeak/29.0-6 Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package modifies conffiles. This is forbidden by the policy, see http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-config-files 10.7.3: "[...] The easy way to achieve this behavior is to make the configuration file a conffile. [...] This implies that the default version will be part of the package distribution, and must not be modified by the maintainer scripts during installation (or at any other time)." Note that once a package ships a modified version of that conffile, dpkg will prompt the user for an action how to handle the upgrade of this modified conffile (that was not modified by the user). Further in 10.7.3: "[...] must not ask unnecessary questions (particularly during upgrades) [...]" If a configuration file is customized by a maintainer script after having asked some debconf questions, it may not be marked as a conffile. Instead a template could be installed in /usr/share and used by the postinst script to fill in the custom values and create (or update) the configuration file (preserving any user modifications!). This file must be removed during postrm purge. ucf(1) may help with these tasks. See also http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/09/msg00412.html and followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with severity serious. debsums reports modification of the following files, from the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): /etc/emacspeak.conf cheers, Andreas emacspeak_29.0-8.log.gz Description: GNU Zip compressed data
