Well, in vanilla grsec you'll not even see
/proc/ of the process which is running as
different user (euid). This made it inconvenient
for me to use Debian standard pon/poff scripts and
I hacked my own grsec to allow seeing /proc/
for the processes that run with ruid == my-uid too
(so I'd be vulnerable if my kernel was 2.6.39
AFAIU).

Well, what I see is someome (Linus?) did a major
fuckup in Linux kernel 2.6.39 enabling the exploit
in the first place.

Then the said fuckup was discovered, but all went
silent until a guy posts working exploit code on
the Internet.

Now, _we_ are requiered to compile with -fPIE to
make exploiting harder (presumably).

But then I see this post from the person I trust
more than Linus or Cox taken together:

So do as you see fit, it's Debian after all.
Debian can force all its maintainers to comply and
build everything with -fPIE as it pleases.

IMO this will prevent script kiddies only, and
only until nextgen mempodipper appears. Then we
have pwned CAs and alike.

Sounds believable to me. But shouldn't module versioning have caught
this and prevented the out-of-date openafs module from loading in the
first place?

sorry, but not a chance. sqlite(2) is 6 years overdue and unmaintained upstream.
And it is my opinion it should be removed from wheezy completely and php5-sqlite
was one of the obstacles.

Also we will ship php5-5.4.x in wheezy where upstream had removed sqlite
extension as well. So it doesn't really make sense to

I could add Breaks: roundcube header to the php5-sqlite package, but I would
need a version number where it will be fixed, so I can add versioned dependency.

Roundcube has to deal with the fact it's using 6 years old unmaintained code.

I am sorry I cannot help you, but we just could not drag old code just because
few stuborn reverse dependencies.

Bug#598551: /usr/sbin/pppd: updetach option causes "Connection terminated"

2012-01-24 Thread Rafal Dabrowa
The bug does not appear in original pppd code. It is caused by
"always_setsid" patch. With this patch, setsid() function is invoked
before opening modem (tty) device. If the setsid() succeeds, pppd
process is losing their controlling tty and then the opened modem device
becomes a controlling tty of the pppd. This causes that when the parent
dies, HUP signal is sent to all children processes - in particular to
the child process communicating via modem.

The setsid() function fails when pppd is invoked directly from shell. It
succeeds when is invoked e.g. from a shell script. If sedsid() fails,
HUP signal is not sent to children when parent dies because the opened
modem device does not become the controlling tty. This explains behavior
described by David (Message #27).

As I understand, the "always_setsid" patch was added to prevent from
kill of parent processes when a signal is delivered to pppd. But, as I
see in the original pppd code, the problem should not appear. How old is
the patch? Maybe the problem was fixed in original code some time ago,
and the patch is not needed?

Bug#657116: libtar: FTBFS on hurd-i386

2012-01-24 Thread Svante Signell
Source: libtar
Version: 1.2.11-8
Severity: important
Tags: patch
User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: hurd

Hi,

This patch solves the build problems for GNU/Hurd due to MAXPATHLEN
issues. The solution is to make dynamic string allocations instead of
using fixed length buffers. The functions mkdirhier, basename and
dirname have all been checked with separate test programs on Linux and
Hurd and with valgrind on Linux without problems. Furthermore, parts of
the the code has been reviewed by GN/Hurd developers and Debian GNU/Hurd
developers and maintainers.

Build and run tested on both Linux and Hurd without problems. Also heap
and leak tested on Linux with valgrind. No heap errors, but still memory
leaks (coming from the original code). Removing the memory leaks will
need another deep investigation of the original code, which time does
not permit right now.

Since there is no upstream, the wish is that the Debian Maintainer
takes a look at this patch and checks if it can be applied. Test
programs are available on request. This patch will affect all
architectures, completely removing the MAXPATHLEN dependencies (except
for a few unused compat functions).

There might be some remaining unneeded header file inclusions, they are
remnants of debugging methods used, both gdb and printf.

Thanks!

Bug#639865: NMU

I've just uploaded an NMU to DELAYED/7 to fix this.

Also note that now upstream doesn't include system-config-audit in the same

Hi,

I'm quite surprised I fail here. Independent of whether I install the
selfmade 3.1.6 or the version from the debian mirror.

I went through the things I changed on my system since the last
occurrence of the bug:

* 3.1.6 (bug present)
* downgrade to 3.1.5 (bug gone)
* bugreport
* meanwhile: I find openafs is not working (probably some months
already). Hasn't been rebuilt with any 3.1.* kernel
* I reinstall openafs, afs working.
* I find time to bisect. upgrade to 3.1.6 (no bug)

so my best naive guess is that the 3.1.6 has problems waking up if the
openafs module is in a broken state?

Cheers,
Paul

Are there any plans to address this issue? There has never been a

two years) by any of the maintainers. Is there anything else I can do

I used reportbug from my stable system, but the bug was seen from my
schroot/sid system.
The issue is that I am missing a /reference on the command line. I was
/hoping/ mono-csc would be smart enough to say 'hey I cant find ref
for class X', instead it simply generates this
Mono.CSharp.InternalErrorException. The code is incomplete, you can
remove the undefined string, this is a known issue with the C#

I can confirm (I did tag the bug report) I have the same behavior with:

Hi,

While the above is true and I agree with it, I think the solution lays
elsewhere.

from the roundcube packages, roundcube-sqlite is the package that depends
on sqlite and php-mdb2-driver-sqlite which depends directly on php5-sqlte.

The php-mdb2-driver-sqlite hasn't been updated in debia for the last two
and a half years, in that time its upstream have added sqlite3 and
pdo_sqlite support, see http://pear.php.net/package/MDB2/download/2.4.1 (we
have 1.5.0b2).

I think this bug should be reassign to it, and its upgrade should let
roundcube to work with updated sqlite versions.

If that renders the package useless then the bug severity should be
"grave".

Yep, done.

Please make sure there are bugs filed against all of those (with at
least "important" severity), either with a usertag so they can be
tracked together, or marked as blocking this bug (#656587).

Done that too, added totem to the list (fixed in experimental, but don't
know if that'll hit unstable anytime soon so asked to be fixed for sid).

listen and gmerlin are already fixed, thanks to Alessio Treglia :)
Maintainer of libmusicbrainz-ruby agreed on IRC that the package should

Bug#657103: rkhunter: Invalid BINDIR configuration option: Invalid directory found: ~/bin

2012-01-24 Thread Jesse Molina

Hi

Shell is bash 4.2-1.

If you want debug output, tell me explicitly what you want. Normally I
like a good mystery, but I do not have the time right now.

Julien Valroff wrote:

This indeed shouldn't happen as $PATH should only be used when BINDIR
configuration option doesn't exist.

What is your default shell? I'm surprised it leaves ~/bin in $PATH - it
should be automagically changed to an absolute path.

% grep PATH ~/.zshrc
## PATH definition
[ -d ~/scripts ]&&  PATH=$PATH:~/scripts
[ -d ~/bin ]&&  PATH=$PATH:~/bin

% echo $PATH
/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games:/home/julien/scripts:/home/julien/bin

rkhunter then complains as it only accepts bin directories beginning with /
to avoid any relative paths being used.

Bug#657117: pulseaudio: FTBFS on armel due to linking nonexistent volume library

2012-01-24 Thread Devin Carraway
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 1.1-2

1.1-2 doesn't build on ARM
(https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=pulseaudio&arch=armel&ver=1.1-2&stamp=1322258208)
due to a failed attempt to link an arm-specific volume lib. The package
builds and plays audio just fine without it. ARM is stuck on 1.0 as a result,
which is especially aggravating since an unintended upstream dependency on

libxine1-console does not consist of libraries, thus shouldn't be

there isn't a dependency on it, and tools like deborphan shouldn't
propose it for uninstallation). It should probably be in Section

Bug#657120: libvirt-bin: Should bring down virtual networks upon stop when no VM still there

2012-01-24 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: libvirt-bin
Version: 0.9.8-2
Severity: normal

Hi.

When one issues /etc/init.d/libvirt-bin stop, and no VMs are still running, it
should bring down the virtual networks.

AFAICT, virbr0 is still there, though.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/345485 for some
details on this issue on Ubuntu side.

AFAIU, the conclusion in that LP bug was that nothing should be down WRT
networks when VMs are running.

But I think that one could expect that libvirt actually *knows* if VMs are
still running, and may then be able to do things if no VM it started are still
running.

Is there something that can be done to have libvirt not mess too much with the
host when it is no longer needed ?

Thanks in advance.

One of the strengths of qemu is ability to run old
operating systems, which may be required to test/play
with older application and these sorts of things. This -
provided the problem is real - is a bug in qemu, since
openbsd definitely run on real hardware.

Probably because it is under /usr/share/roundcube/program while

Patch that does just that is attached (and another to update
debian/changelog). I haven't tested it with a real dh-make template, nor
did I verify that the Vcs-* lines are all catched (if dh-make emits
anything else than git URIs, those are not caught).

The test is very simple to extend to catch pretty much anything, though.

dh_make adds commented out Vcs-* header boilerplate to debian/control,
which should either be removed, or changed to be a valid location.

This check implements just that.

Bug#657121: xkb-data: New version breaks custom bepo keymap

2012-01-24 Thread Daniel Dehennin
Package: xkb-data
Version: 2.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I use a custom keymap with my typematrix keyboard, the keyboard is
switched to a pc106 (japan) layout[1].

After the upgrade from 2.3-2, my custom bepo keymap does not work
anymore, here is my error message:

#+begin_src sh
dad@home:~$ xkbcomp -I$HOME/.config/xkb $HOME/.config/xkb/keymap/dad_tm $DISPLAY
Warning: Multiple default components in keypad
[...]
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for

Minor opcode of failed request: 9 (XkbSetMap)
  Value in failed request: 0x163f0005
Serial number of failed request: 111
Current serial number in output stream: 117
#+end_src

I switched back to testing 2.3-2 version and it works fine.

Regards.

Footnotes:
[1] From http://typematrix.com/support/user-guide.php?item=3
The "106" key layout is used primarily for Japanese. It changes the
 following 6 keys:
The "shuffle" key becomes the "hiragana" key (scan code 123/0x7B)
The "desktop" key becomes the "kanji" key (scan code 121/0x79)
The "www" key becomes the "katakana" key (scan code 112/0x70)
The "calc" key becomes "international 4" (scan code 125/0x7D)
The backslash key is moved to where the "mail" key used to be (scan
 code 43/0x2B)
The key where the backslash used to be becomes "international 3" (scan
 code 115/0x73)
It is noteworthy that this configuration is frequently used by people
who use key remapping software, because it allows remapping of the
former shuffle and desktop keys which would otherwise be
 un-reprogrammable key combinations.

One week into this, it seems no one objected. Most comments have been in
favor of this choice; one comment (by Francesco) would prefer a
different wording but would pick a functionally equivalent license
(MIT/Expat alone). Thanks to everybody.

It seems we've consensus on the license choice \o/

as a minor nitpick, I would add "(at your option)" here.

2012-01-24 Thread Aron Xu
I tried to rebuild version adept_3.0~beta7.2+qa1 in pbuilder on a
linux-amd64 machine, and the build works fine for me. Looking at the
logs of kfreebsd-amd64 and mips, the errors were not same. I would
like to ask if it's possible to retry the build on these two
architectures?

2012-01-24 Thread Marc Dequènes (Duck)

Coin,

Quoting Jérémy Bobbio :

PHP Error: Failed to load config from
  /var/lib/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui/config.inc.php in
  /usr/share/roundcube/program/include/rcube_plugin.php

I don't have such errors.

I saw this message once on a fresh install. But I am usually doing my
tests with the following in /etc/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui/config.inc.php:

Mine contains:

// if you want to load localization strings for specific sub-libraries
of jquery-ui, configure them here

$rcmail_config['jquery_ui_i18n'] = array('datepicker');

// map Roundcube skins with jquery-ui themes here
$rcmail_config['jquery_ui_skin_map'] = array(

Which is in fact a copy of the default config here:
/usr/share/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui/config.inc.php

The menu file seems to have the correct category but the desktop file

Bug#657019: Please document why the package includes non-PIC code

2012-01-24 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Am 23.01.2012 14:53, schrieb Reinhard Tartler:

The reason is that x264 uses a lot of hand written assembler, and
upstream takes care to use non-pic code only on architectures that
support this.

Btw, the same applies to the libav* packages.

Is there any benchmark available (for either package) that compares
the performance of the library using the hand written assambler code
with one using generic code?

Libvirt doesn't bring down vms when it stops nor storage pools nor
networks. Why should it? It should infact preserve it's state across
restarts.

Bug#582195: user friendly error messages in GUI

2012-01-24 Thread Chris Frey
I was pointed to this bug just recently.

While the permissions issues have been long fixed in version
0.17.x and the upcoming 0.18.x, the user friendly error message was
still a valid request.

So I coded it up. The latest Barry git repo has this fixed. When
version 0.18.x gets releasd, and makes it to the Debian repos,
this bug can be closed. The fix also inspired some enhancements
to the library, for ease of use and programming, so this fix is
not a simple backport to version 0.17 and earlier.

Thanks,
- Chris

Bug#657122: collectd: df plugin causes lots of warning syslog messages

2012-01-24 Thread Florian La Roche
Package: collectd
Version: 4.10.1-1+squeeze2
Severity: normal

Starting collectd on a default debian install will cause warning syslog
messages like:

Jan 23 14:46:01 debian6-2 collectd[1139]: uc_update: Value too old: name =
debian6-2.example.com/df/df-root; value time = 1327326361; last cache update =

Jan 23 14:46:01 debian6-2 collectd[1139]: Filter subsystem: Built-in target
`write': Dispatching value to all write plugins failed with status -1.

Problem is that collectd doesn't notice it is reporting some filesystems
twice and thus generating errors.
Adding the following to the shipped default configuration works around this:

FSType tmpfs
FSType rootfs
IgnoreSelected true
ReportReserved true
ReportInodes true

Florian La Roche

Bug#657123: USB modem hotplugging no longer works.

2012-01-24 Thread dE .

Package: udev
Version: 175-3

Hotplugging of USB modems no longer works. Earlier, when inserting a usb
modem, devices /dev/ttyUSB* used to appear automatically, now I have to
manually modprobe usbserial with the correct vendor, string values to
get /dev/ttyUSB.

I'm not sure this this's a problem with udev or usb_modeswitch (it does
insert usbserial after switching right?).

Hello,

I was asked at work to modify apticron in order to send "no updates"
reports as it shows that :
 1. apticron is working correctly
 2. there is no problem to send email from the "apticronned" server

Indeed, without this "no updates" mail, you can't say if there is no
updates or if there is a mail problem.

I attached a patch with my modifications in apticron itself and in the
postint script (because I inluded some options in the config file).

I think I'm not the only one who could use this feature.

Hi,

Could you please package the last (2.7.0) upstream version.

This version is needed by vagrant which I would like to package in
debian.

Cheers

Hi,
i am going to remove st from suckless-tools with the next version, instead, it
recommends stterm now.
Thus, i am reassigning st-relatet bugs to this package. However, 606148 and
606150 seems to be fixed
in the current version of the stterm package, thus I mark them fixed

Kind Regards,
Michael

Bug#649824: recordmydesktop: Specifying --use-jack makes recordmydesktop exit with a bad screen geometry

2012-01-24 Thread Lorenzo Sutton
Package: recordmydesktop
Version: 0.3.8.1+svn602-1+b1
Followup-For: Bug #649824

I also have this problem with this version. It seems the X and Width always get
junk parameters when running with this option. In some cases recordmydesktop
even starts if by chance they are smaller than the screen resolution
(1280x800 here).

Example output of two consecutive invocations which fail:

~$ recordmydesktop --use-jack system:capture_1
Window size specification out of bounds!(current resolution:1280x800)

~$ recordmydesktop --use-jack system:capture_1
Initial recording window is set to:

Adjusted recording window is set to:

AFAICT the only thing needed from xserver-xorg-dev is the fourcc.h
header. This dependency could easily be removed by copying the used
definitions instead, especially as
src/gallium/state_trackers/xorg/xvmc/subpicture.c already defines
FOURCC_RGB itself.

Do an apt-cache show or grep-aptavail -P libpostproc52 (or both), and look
whether the
record is correct. Or look at the file directly and check whether it is correct.

Bug#657074: epdfview: becomes confused and sometimes crashes on repeated reloads

2012-01-24 Thread Yves-Alexis Perez
Hi Jordi,

here's a bug report from a Debian user which manages to crash epdfview
when refreshing a pdf. I can reproduce, not everytime though (it usually
spits a lot of stuff on terminal but doesn't always crash). I've
attached a backtrace and there's a link to the pdf in the original bug
report.

The same pdf in evince-gtk doesn't produce the same errors so although
it might be poppler-related there's still something fishy.

If you need anything else, feel free to contact me or the bug address.

Well we'd simply need to use munmap() + mmap() instead of mremap() on
non-Linux architectures.

While it is discussable why this bug is "important", 2.7.x packages do the
conversation in another way:

 $value = iconv('UTF-8', 'US-ASCII//TRANSLIT', $value);

Same for the 2.6.x maintainance series. You can simply take the function
gen_uids from here

https://oss.gonicus.de/labs/gosa/browser/tags/2.6.13/gosa-
core/include/functions.inc

in order to create a patch for squeeze.

Because it started a network even though no VM was ever started, AFAICT.

I have a virbr0 bridge started automatically even if I haven't used a VM
since my machine's boot... and if I stop libvirt-bin, it stays there.

Shouldn't it do things in a symetric way as for the start operations ?

Hope this is a sound rationale.

I do not own a modem, so you will have to debug this by yourself.
I also highly doubt that this applies to every USB modem, let's try to

Are you sure you tested the Debian (in contrast to the Ubuntu) package?
We don't start any networks automatically. So there's no virbr0 by
default. It only does so if you set the network to _autostart_.

Bug#657128: RM: sextractor [mips mipsel armhf s390x] -- RoM; ANAIS

2012-01-24 Thread Ole Streicher
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

The current version in testing originates from a version that is
outdated since five years and has a number of bugs.

I recently adopted this package and brought it up to the recent debian
policy and upstream version. The new upstream version has some
requirements (libatlas-dev) that are still not met on armhf and s390x,
and fails to build on mips and mipsel, due to the inclusion of unit
tests in the new version. MIPS machines never were supported upstream.

Thanks

Ole

Yes sir.

Ok, so let's add a condition : if libvirt is configured so as to start
the network with autostart, then it should have a symetrical autostop
feature, for when no VM is left.

How does it sound ?

Bug#657130: gnupg2: Can't specify card reader

2012-01-24 Thread Mark Brown
Package: gnupg2
Version: 2.0.18-2
Severity: important

My system has multiple smartcard readers:

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 20a0:4107 Clay Logic
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0a5c:5800 Broadcom Corp. BCM5880 Secure Applications
Processor

but only one of these is actually a GnuPG smartcard I want to use.
Interfaces such as gpg2 --card-status appear to only ever use the first
device they find even if it fails to report a card present and I can't
see any command line or configuration options for overriding this.

Unfortunately on this system the first device found appears to be the
Broadcom one (which is built into my laptop) which I don't want to use.

No, I have to specify it.

Yes, it works with Debian stable and older Debian testing (2.6.39).

Currently this problem occurs under testing with 3.1 (latest in testing)
kernel and also 3.2 (installed from unstable).

Bug#657131: wl-beta: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8) violating FHS (policy 9.1) too

Version: 2.15.9+0.20110420-1
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8:

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

>From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

1m5.9s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /root/.gnupg not owned
  /root/.gnupg/gpg.conf not owned
  /root/.gnupg/pubring.gpg not owned
  /root/.gnupg/secring.gpg not owned

Whatever the package does in its maintainer scripts, it may not touch
/root/.gnupg/

As putting files into /root is also a violation of
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html#s9.1.2
I'm setting the severity to serious.

cheers,

Andreas

Without it, it fails to configure:
configure: error: Package requirements (xvmc>= 1.0.6 xorg-server) were not
met:
No package 'xorg-server' found

It's explicitly required by configure.ac:
if test "x$enable_xvmc" = xyes; then
 PKG_CHECK_MODULES([XVMC], [xvmc>= 1.0.6 xorg-server])
 GALLIUM_STATE_TRACKERS_DIRS="$GALLIUM_STATE_TRACKERS_DIRS xorg/xvmc"
 HAVE_ST_XVMC="yes"
fi

AFAICT the only thing needed from xserver-xorg-dev is the fourcc.h
header. This dependency could easily be removed by copying the used
definitions instead, especially as
src/gallium/state_trackers/xorg/xvmc/subpicture.c already defines
FOURCC_RGB itself.

Christian?
This indeed sounds like the correct solution, and the fix is actually
trivial, since we only need to defines from fourcc.h. Patch is on the
way to the maillinglist.

But the xorg state tracker also depends on xorg-server, so I'm wondering
why xorg-server depends on mesa in the first place?

Christian.

By the way, all packages that contain suid
binaries (and/or libraries these binaries depend
on) should be hardened as much as possible anyway,
and this doesn't end with -fPIE. And IMO this
shouldn't be intended to work around the
CVE-2012-0056 (because ASLR/PIE doesn't prevent
the kernel bug to be exploited, according to PaX
team).

But I'm fine with using CVE-2012-0056 as a trigger
to incorporate some Hardening into shadow.

xrgtn@ux380n:~$ hardening-check /usr/sbin/sshd
/usr/sbin/sshd:

 Stack protected: yes
 Fortify Source functions: yes
 Read-only relocations: yes

 Stack protected: no, not found!
Fortify Source functions: no, not found!
 Read-only relocations: no, not found!
 Immediate binding: no, not found!

Nicolas, please consider what can be done to fix
that (or at least some of the above).

Currently I'm reading the
http://wiki.debian.org/Hardening#Using_Hardening_Options
part, but it's still unclear for me how to apply
this stuff to shadow builds (assuming that the
last time I built shadow was more than 4 years ago
IIRC).

Bug#657134: empathy: Chat window crashes when participants are searched in the 'Invite Participants' window

2012-01-24 Thread Kees de Jong
Package: empathy
Version: 3.2.2-1+b1
Severity: normal

To reproduce this crash do the following:

Open a chat window with a Gtalk contact. Then go to the menu and select
Conversation --> Invite Participant
In the top is an text input field, when you type just one character there it
crashes along with the chat windows that are open including IRC windows.
I hope I supplied enough information. I couldn't find any logs on my machine,
if someone can tell me where I can find them then I'll include them.

Have a look at upstream commit logs. Many commit messages count cpu
cycles as performance speedup.

The xserver GLX code uses various headers.

We could update php-mdb2-driver-sqlite but Roundcube explicitely says
that sqlite 3.x is not supported (in INSTALL).

Please follow that new policy

Bug#657144: libunicode-string-perl: defined(%hash) is deprecated at /usr/lib/perl5/Unicode/CharName.pm line 80

2012-01-24 Thread Justin B Rye
Package: libunicode-string-perl
Version: 2.09-4+b2
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

This module emits an error if you so much as look at it:

 $ perl -e 'use Unicode::CharName;'
 defined(%hash) is deprecated at /usr/lib/perl5/Unicode/CharName.pm line 80.
(Maybe you should just omit the defined()?)

Personally I'd prefer to follow the advice of the package description
and just use Perl 5.14's integrated Unicode support; but this module's
a dependency of wdg-html-validator and debian-edu-config, among other
things, and it's practically handing me the patch, so here it is.

Bug#651611: clementine: ctrl+alt+pageup/pagedown global hotkey doesn't work

2012-01-24 Thread Oliver Kirsch
Hello Krasu, hello Thomas, hello anyone,

the bug described *could* be related to a general (global) hotkey
problem with Clementine 0.7.1 and Gnome3. See [1]

However it does not (neccessarily?) explain, why Ctrl+Alt+Home/End works
for you. Maybe, for further "investigation", could you try to use the
PgUp/PgDown keys with e.g. Totem running parallely? At least running
Totem with an empty playlist "magically" activates my Play/Pause/Next
hotkeys for Clementine (in my case it's Fn-combinations on a laptop).

Regarding this general problem @Thomas:
As the Clementine 1.0 packaging for Debian seems to be "stuck" due to
the dependencies, would it be possible to add fix [2] to Debian's
Clementine 0.7.1?

Thanks & best wishes,
Oliver

Please set up a serial console so you can capture the full boot messages
from both Xen hypervisor and dom0 kernel.

In your case you can also use the SOL (Serial Over LAN),
provided by the iDRAC management processor.

The network is autostarted _unconditionally_. It doesn't matter if there
are VMs or not. Libvirt does more than starting and stopping of
machines. It manages network interfaces, storage, etc. So the feature
you're asking for is configurable auto-destroy of networks, storage
pools and vms when the daemon is stopped if I understand correctly.
That's a valid request and I'd recommend to discuss this with upstream.

Bug#657145: dkms: leaves unowned empty directores, e.g. /lib/modules/$KVERS/updates, after removal

2012-01-24 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: dkms
Version: 2.2.0.3-1
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

there are several packages failing the piuparts test because unowned
directories are left on the system. These directories were created by
dkms when a kernel module was built and installed.

An example from
http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/fail/west-chamber-dkms_20100405+svn20110916.r119-1.log

2m15.4s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /lib/modules/3.1.0-1-amd64 owned by: linux-headers-3.1.0-1-amd64
  /lib/modules/3.1.0-1-amd64/updates not owned

or from
http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/fail/blktap-dkms_2.0.91-1.log

0m46.0s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /lib/modules/3.1.0-1-amd64 owned by: linux-headers-3.1.0-1-amd64
  /lib/modules/3.1.0-1-amd64/extra not owned
  /lib/modules/3.1.0-1-amd64/kernel not owned

All these tests are done in a minimal chroot with some kernel headers
installed but usually no kernel installed.

Testing more intensively by always installing kernel headers even if the
*-dkms package does not depend on them makes all *-dkms packages fail
the piuparts test.

Cheers,

Andreas

Bug#657146: tango-common: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8, 10.8)

2012-01-24 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: tango-common
Version: 7.2.6+dfsg-12
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8 (or 10.8):

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

>From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

0m25.9s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /var/lib/tango not owned

cheers,

Andreas

Bug#620258: PHP5-memcache in Squeeze still cannot delete items from memcached

2012-01-24 Thread Peter Westwood
This bug still exists in the version of memcache available in Squeeze.

It's really easy to reproduce when using php5-memcache + memcached + the
memcache object-cache backend for WordPress - it leads to strange behaviour
when editing posts because the cache deletion fails

I uninstalled php5-memcache and installed v3.0.6 from PECL instead and all
works fine.

Any chance we can get a fixed version in Squeeze soon?

Bug#657149: override: xmame-svga:nonfree-metapackages/extra

2012-01-24 Thread Emmanuel Kasper
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Rational for the required changes:
These package is a transitional package.
I would like the package to have non-free/metapackages as section and extra as
priority.

The metapackages section could be used for transitional packages according to:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=574851

According to a chat on #debian-mentors, the priority of transitional packages
should be "extra".

Regards

Emmanuel
