Bug#649577: gnome-shell: Alt+F2 works again in experimental

2011-12-04 Thread coldtobi
Package: gnome-shell
Followup-For: Bug #649577

fixed 649577 3.2.1-6
severity serious
thanks

It works again in the package currently in experimental. However this pulls in
a lots more packages in expermential (like evolution) and not everyone likes
this.

However, I think the severity should be raised as some (including myself) are
using this feature to start programs 99% of the time, and if you put in the
full path (like /usr/bin/xterm) you'll get a launcher window stuck in the front
of the desktop making the desktop hardly usable without restarting gnome-shell
(which is impossible if you do not have a shell open).

Bug#510429: more info

2011-12-04 Thread Peter
Yeah, the logs only say DRI2SwapComplete: bad drawable.

However, I think maybe it happens when I "startx", logout to console,
and then later startx again, then it goes to the flurries screensaver,
and then when I wake it up, it hard crashes and I have to hit the
power button. So maybe its something not cleaned up in the opendl in
the driver when I exit X the first time.

Bug#650883: proftpd-basic: mod_rewrite does not replace characters if there are more than 8 occurrences

2011-12-04 Thread trash4regs
Package: proftpd-basic
Version: 1.3.3a-6squeeze4
Severity: important

I have this rewrite config:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteLog /var/log/ftpd/rewrite.log

# Define a map that uses the internal "replaceall" function
RewriteMap replace int:replaceall

# We only want to use this rule on STOR commands
RewriteCondition %m STOR

# Apply the map to the command parameters
RewriteRule ^(.*) "${replace:/$1/ /_}"

I try to upload file: "file_with spaces test.jpg"
But spaces not replaced.
If file name is: "file test 234.jpg" it's normally replaced to
"file_test_234.jpg"
What rewrite rule must be? I think it's a bug.

2011-12-04 Thread Peter
This does still happen with linux kernel 3.1.1
xserver-xorg-video-intel is 2.15.0-3
mesa 7.11-6 I think

The logs say DRI2SwapComplete: bad drawable, same as before.

There's another bug I posted back in 2009,
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=510429, I'm not sure
its related. But I accidentally posted this bit of info to that.

Really they're probably different bugs and I apologize for posting to
the wrong one. The other is something to do with XIO and the intel
driver and this one is something to do with a hard crash from the
intel driver.

Anyway, I think maybe it happens when I "startx", logout to console,
and then later startx again, then it goes to the flurries screensaver,
and then when I wake it up, it hard crashes and I have to hit the
power button.  So maybe its something not cleaned up in the opengl in
the driver when I exit X the first time.

Bug#645537: oss4-dkms: dkms build fail

Package: oss4-dkms
Version: 4.2-build2005-1

Hi,
Indeed it seems to be i386-specific; the attached patch fixes the build
here. On my amd64 box, 4.2-build2005-1 works fine both with and without
the patch.

regards,
Jan

Bug#650884: python-wxmpl: Please drop alternative dependency on python-wxgtk2.6

2011-12-04 Thread Olly Betts
Package: python-wxmpl
Version: 2.0.0-1
User: freewx-ma...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: wx2.6to2.8

I'm getting towards the end of the process of getting packages to migrate
from wxwidgets2.6 to wxwidgets2.8 so we can remove the former from the
archive - it's no longer supported upstream, and wxwidgets3.0 is supposed
to be out early next year.

Currently it looks like wxwidgets2.6 will be removed in the next week or
two.

Unfortunately your upload of python-wxmpl happened two days after I
generated the list of packages needing attention for this transition:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/10/msg00460.html

So please can you drop the alternative dependency on python-wxgtk2.6?

If you'd like me to NMU this change, please just let me know.

Cheers,
Olly

Turns out node-vows depends on npm for resoĺving its version. I will
patch it to have its version hardcoded instead (as npm really should be
avoided whenever possible IMO).

Not sure if the proper approach is to reasign or file another bug and
make one of them affect the other - and since I maintain both packages I
will simply spend my time on fixing the issue instead :-)

Thanks for reporting, and for the helpful suggestion.

Dear Maintainer,
I prepared an NMU to fix the cdrecord->wodim transition.

Perhaps you want to orphan the package. Your last upload
was about seven years ago 2004, according to

http://danborn.net/multiCD/

there is a new upstream version

13/02/05: Version 1.7.4 released. Changes made: ...

and the debhelper version is deprecated.

Kind regards,

That seems to be caused by some changes in the archive software the ftp
team introduced yesterday. Sorry for that, but Jörg is already working
in the issue.

Bug#650851: Can confirm that it is fixed

2011-12-04 Thread Valentin Hilbig
The bug in the the archive apparently vanished a few seconds ago.

curl -s
http://security.debian.org/dists/lenny/updates/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2
| bunzip2 | grep -q ^None && echo bug found

curl -s
http://security.debian.org/dists/lenny/updates/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz
| gunzip | grep -q ^None && echo bug found

Both do no more say "bug found" and more important:

"apt-get update" with "deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates"
in /etc/apt/sources.list now works again.

Thanks!

Bug#418480: Patch

2011-12-04 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl

Hi!

Am 03.12.2011 19:01, schrieb Martin Schauer:

I prepared an NMU to fix the cdrecord->wodim transition.

Thanks for your work so far, but your patch seems to be incomplete:

are@NB-LX13927:/var/cache/pbuilder/result$ dpkg -l|grep multicd
ii multicd 7.3-1.1 Backup your data to CD-R/CD-RW

$ multicd -h
Unknown option: 'cdrecord'. Check your /etc/multicdrc file.
Invalid configuration. Check /etc/multicdrc, /home/are/.multicdrc, or
command line options. Exiting...

And indeed, we have:

$ grep cdrecord /etc/multicdrc
# This is how cdrecord should be run. multicd will append the name of
# the image file to burn to the end. Any output cdrecord produces is
cdrecord = cdrecord -v blank=fast speed=4 dev=0,0,0 -data
# cd_done = cdrecord dev=0,0,0 -eject

(I guess that's sample_multicdrc in the upstream tarball, but haven't
checked.)

However, changing that entry to "cdrecord = wodim -v blank=fast speed=4
dev=0,0,0 -data" doesn't solve the problem, but I have no idea why.

Best regards,
  Alexander

PS: Of course that doesn't answer the question, if it's still useful to
keep this package in the archive, especially as it doesn't seem to
support any newer optical media with higher capacity.
PPS: Interesting question, how does that program solve the knappsack
problem anyway? *g*
PPPS: Sorry for the work you've done in vain, but looking at it, and
seeing that there are plenty of alternatives, I think the package should
be removed.

Bug#460677: can be closed with 0.15rc1?

2011-12-04 Thread Matthias Krüger
If I remember correctly, the editor was disabled because saving mapfile
made it crash due to missing permissions to write to
/usr/share/freedroidrpg/maps/freedroid.levels or something like this.

In 0.15rc1 ( see
http://freedroid.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/freedroid?view=revision&revision=5165
) the game writes the data into ~/.freedroid_rpg if it can't write to
/usr/... thus I think this bug can get closed with 0.15rc1 and the
editor can be re-enabled.

Bug#650928: java-common: A very recent (Dec 2011) change somewhere in java hosed various aspects of java

2011-12-04 Thread Emmanuel Charpentier
Package: java-common
Version: 0.45
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
Symptoms (end-user point of view) :

1) no more communication between LibreOffice an Zotero (3.0beta2) or Zotero
Standalone (ditto). A look at Zotero site suggested to switch to OpenJDK (I
also have sun's, as current default), which led to :

2) one cannot switch java installations with update-alternatives-java :
root@eee-ec:/home/charpent# update-java-alternatives --list
java-1.6.0-openjdk-i386 1061 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-i386
java-6-sun 63 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
root@eee-ec:/home/charpent# update-java-alternatives --set
java-1.6.0-openjdk-i386
update-alternatives: erreur: pas d'alternatives pour -javaplugin.so.
update-alternatives: erreur: pas d'alternatives pour -javaplugin.so.
root@eee-ec:/home/charpent# update-java-alternatives --set java-6-sun
update-alternatives: erreur: pas d'alternatives pour -javaplugin.so.

==> Leads to a hosed LibreOffice/zotero subsystem (major funcionality for
me...). I seriously considered reportig this bug as critical (since it beaks
unrelated software), but settled to important (renders the package unusable for
most uses, but I cannot prove it is effectively unusable for *all* purposes...

*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
regular (frequent) updates to a debian wheezy system

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

See above for symptoms.

Tried to reinstall openJDK : no change to symptoms.
Did *not* try to reinstall sun Java6 packages, which are no longer available in
Wheezy.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

No modification of symptoms ; no possibility to switch java installations.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
At least to be able to switch existing java implementations...

Hi!
It seems to me that the tracker page [1] for DSA-2357-1 [2] is

While the rest of your patch works perfectly, I'm wondering why you
introduced this change, as it isn't needed to fix the core problem.

Bug#650930: gnome-shell segfault at gnome session startup

2011-12-04 Thread Alexander Sitnik
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-8
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
when starting freshly installed gnome3 session it fails to start leaving me
with only wallpaper and mouse cursor, no fallback mode was suggested.
I found following message in dmesg output:
[ 1047.361153] gnome-shell[4939]: segfault at 8089ffda230e ip
7f759f856420 sp 7fffa1e73298 error 4 in
libc-2.13.so[7f759f73c000+17a000]

Manualy choosen fallback mode from gdm works fine.

I tried gnome, xorg & mesa packages from unstable/experimental and problem
persisted. Switching to fglrx driver (I'm using Radeon HD5670) helps,
gnome-shell successfully starts, but there is various screen corruptions when I
click on 'Activities' menu and navigate trought it. So I think problem are not
in drivers.

I created gdb backtrace for that segfault:

My guess is that simple-patchsys.mk is a leftover from before the package
was converted to 3.0 (quilt). Since the package doesn't contain any patches
so far it wasn't noticed.

I realize that my interpretation might be wrong so feel free to drop those
parts.

Bug#650840: transition: zita-convolver

Hi

guitarix is prepared for that.
guitarix 0.20.2-2 use already zita-convolver 3.0, witch is included in
the upstream tarball. As soon zita-convolver 3.0 hit's unstable,
guitarix could simply rebuild against the new version.

The issue appears to be in openjdk-6-jre-headless, which has a list of
alternatives openjdk-6 provides. It says it provides an alternative for
"-javaplugin.so", however said alternative does not exist. I have
therefore reassigned it to openjdk-6-jre-headless.

On my system the line looks something like this:

plugin -javaplugin.so $JVM/jre/lib/$ARCH/IcedTeaPlugin.so

($JVM and $ARCH are short hands).

You can work around this issue by using /usr/sbin/update-alternatives
for now. Presumably this should be what you are looking for:

/usr/sbin/update-alternatives --config mozilla-javaplugin.so

Though if that does not work, you may have to walk through all possible
alternatives to find the right group to set.

/usr/sbin/update-alternatives --all

Hi,

what code are you loading? This could be a bug in any of perl itself,
mod_perl2, or an XS module you're using, but there isn't much chance of
fixing it without a way to reproduce it first.

Bug#646479: explanation for the problem and patch

2011-12-04 Thread Sven Joachim
tags 646479 + patch
thanks

The problem is that the upstream makefiles no longer find the ncurses
libraries since they moved to the multiarch directories:

,
| $ LANG=C make -C src -f makefile.gcc libtest
| make: Entering directory `/home/sven/tmp/bsp/mined-2000.15.4/src'
| ( ls /lib/libncurses.a /usr/lib/libncurses.a; ls /lib/libtermcap.a

ls /lib/libncursesw.so* /usr/lib/libncursesw.so*; ls /lib/libncurses.so*
 /usr/lib/libncurses.so*; ls /lib/libtermcap.so* /usr/lib/libtermcap.so*; ls
 /usr/lib/termcap/libtermcap.so*; ) | cat
| ls: cannot access /lib/libncurses.a: No such file or directory
| ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libncurses.a: No such file or directory
| ls: cannot access /lib/libtermcap.a: No such file or directory
| ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libtermcap.a: No such file or directory
| ls: cannot access /usr/lib/termcap/libtermcap.a: No such file or directory

| ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libtermcap.so*: No such file or directory
| ls: cannot access /usr/lib/termcap/libtermcap.so*: No such file or directory
| echo
`

The code to find the ncurses/termcap libraries is really weird, but
thankfully it is possible to ignore this crap and simply hardcode
"termcap = -ltinfo" at the end. See the attached patch which can be
dropped into debian/patches (and added to the 00list file). Note that
mined only needs the terminfo part of ncurses, hence I'm not using
-lncurses.

Cheers,
   Sven

Only the tests fail with libevent 2.0, the rest of the code works.
There are two ways to solve this, either merge a fix for the tests

Not sure which is the preferred solution.

Bug#616131: ITA: lsb -- Linux Standard Base 3.2 support package

Sorry for answering this late but unfortunately I don't have time to
maintain this package, it was an oversight to get the ITA, so I'm
setting this back to RFA.

Cheers
Antonio

Bug#650933: libsundials-serial-dev: static libraries missing

2011-12-04 Thread Julian Taylor
Package: libsundials-serial-dev
Version: 2.4.0-4
Severity: normal

forwarding ubuntu bug 871739:

The new version 2.4.0-3 of this package (libsundials-serial-dev) is missing the
statically linked versions of the following libs:

/usr/lib/libsundials_cvode.a
 /usr/lib/libsundials_cvodes.a
 /usr/lib/libsundials_fnvecserial.a
 /usr/lib/libsundials_ida.a
 /usr/lib/libsundials_idas.a
 /usr/lib/libsundials_kinsol.a
 /usr/lib/libsundials_nvecserial.a

In version 2.3 these were still included and some applications rely on the
static versions. So it would be nice to include them again in a future version
(perhaps already in 2..4.0-4 ? ;-) )

find debian/libsundials-serial-dev/usr/lib \
 -type f -a ! \( -name README -o -name \*.out \
-o -name \*.f -o -name \*.c \) \
 -a -exec rm -f \{\} \;

this part in debian/rules (unintentionally?) deletes the static libs.

(That's actually "segmentation fault".)

The security archive has been fixed, but the aptitude crash above
appears to be a separate issue worth fixing, so reopening.
