Ok, The issue is triggered by the package-file.map file containing entries of these files before the files themselves exist in the mirrored and imported tree. That causes the linking between the file and a source or binary package to fail. On the next mirrorrun's indexing however, the package-file.map entry is not considered anymore (in --quick mode) because it was already in the previous map file. (For now, I've re-run some mirrorrun's index runs in non-fast mode. Now ever .dsc file belongs to a src package, and every .deb is associated with a binary package.) -- | .''`. ** Debian ** Peter Palfrader | : :' : The universal http://www.palfrader.org/ | `. `' Operating System | `-http://www.debian.org/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#643712: GNOME or GTK tabs are very slow
Hi, My machine is running Debian Wheezy amd64; using Debian provided kernel 3.0 and the Nvidia drivers (installed the Debian way). I am running Gnome as my desktop and am not using any Compositing window manager. Starting from yesterday (28-Sep-2011) I realised Google Chrome's tabs and address bar were acting very slow. I started searching on the internet for similar problems when I stumbled across this bug report (so I will append my observations here). Some issues that I have observed occuring on my machine that started at the same time: 1. GTK+ programs using tabs are very slow (Google Chrome, gedit, iceweasel/firefox) 2. "System Monitor" tool starts running up 100% CPU usage (according to other bug reports on bugs.debian.org, this probem has been seen before and according to those reports it is most likely display driver issue). I am very sure that my computer was running perfectly on 26-Sep-2011. As such I am attaching information on the packages that were updated on my machine since. >cat dpkg.log | grep "2011-09-28.*status installed" 2011-09-28 23:51:33 status installed gnome-menus 2.30.3-2+b1 2011-09-28 23:51:33 status installed desktop-file-utils 0.15-2 2011-09-28 23:51:36 status installed man-db 2.6.0.2-2 2011-09-28 23:51:36 status installed libxcb-dri2-0 1.7-3 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed gdebi-core 0.8.2 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed gdebi 0.8.2 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed xserver-common 2:1.11.1-1 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.1-1 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed xserver-xorg-video-tseng 1:1.2.4-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed xserver-xorg-video-siliconmotion 1:1.7.5-1+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:37 status installed xserver-xorg-video-r128 6.8.1-5+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:38 status installed xserver-xorg-video-mach64 6.9.0-1+b1 2011-09-28 23:51:38 status installed xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.14.2-2 2011-09-28 23:51:38 status installed xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.2-2 2011-09-28 23:51:38 status installed xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.16.0-1 2011-09-28 23:51:38 status installed xserver-xorg-video-chips 1:1.2.4-1+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:38 status installed xserver-xorg-video-trident 1:1.3.4-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-s3 1:0.6.3-4+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-i128 1:1.3.4-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-mga 1:1.4.13.dfsg-3+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110411+8378443-1+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-neomagic 1:1.2.5-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-cirrus 1:1.3.2-4+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:39 status installed xserver-xorg-video-ark 1:0.7.3-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-tdfx 1:1.4.3-4+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-sisusb 1:0.9.4-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-rendition 1:4.2.4-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-vesa 1:2.3.0-7+b1 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-fbdev 1:0.4.2-4+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-savage 1:2.3.2-3+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:40 status installed xserver-xorg-video-vmware 1:11.0.3-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-video-openchrome 1:0.2.904+svn920-1+b1 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-video-s3virge 1:1.10.4-4+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-video-voodoo 1:1.2.4-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-video-apm 1:1.2.3-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-video-sis 1:0.10.3-3+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-2+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:41 status installed xserver-xorg-input-wacom 0.10.10+20110203-1+b2 2011-09-28 23:51:42 status installed xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.4.1-1+b1 2011-09-28 23:53:08 status installed man-db 2.6.0.2-2 2011-09-28 23:53:09 status installed libcurl3 7.21.7-3 2011-09-28 23:53:09 status installed libcurl3-gnutls 7.21.7-3 2011-09-28 23:53:09 status installed libmng1 1.0.10-3 2011-09-28 23:53:09 status installed libtalloc2 2.0.7-1 2011-09-28 23:53:10 status installed libtiff4 3.9.5-2 2011-09-28 23:53:10 status installed libx264-116 2:0.116.2042+git178455c-2 2011-09-28 23:53:10 status installed libxvidcore4 2:1.3.2-6 2011-09-28 23:53:10 status installed libgstfarsight0.10-0 0.0.30-1 2011-09-28 23:53:10 status installed poppler-data 0.4.5-2 2011-09-28 23:53:10 status installed xserver-xephyr 2:1.11.1-1 2011-09-28 23:53:11 status installed pcmciautils 018-4 2011-09-28 23:54:54 status installed gnome-menus 2.30.3-2+b1 2011-09-28 23:54:54 status installed desktop-file-utils 0.15-2 2011-09-28 23:55:05 status installed gconf2 2.32.4-1 2011-09-28 23:55:07 status installed man-db 2.6.0.2-2 2011-09-28 23:55:07 status installed menu 2.1.45 >cat dpkg.log | grep "2011-09-27.*status installed" 2011-09-27 05:27:10 status installed man-d

This information can be used as supportive either for conception or contraception planning. . Periodic Calendar provides support for BBT and sympto-thermal methods which have the highest reliability in fertility periods prediction. User can choose any subset of the features to be used or even fall to the generic calendar method (which if used alone is very unreliable). . Authors of the Periodic Calendar still insist on not being an equal substitute to the fertility planning consultants or doctors. So for cron this was likely caused by: <-- snip --> cron (3.0pl1-101) unstable; urgency=low [ Christian Kastner ] ... * debian/cron.init: - Changed Default-Stop from (1) to (empty). rc0 and rc6 were removed in 3.0pl1-101 because the stop action -- sending SIGTERM/SIGKILL to cron on shutdown/reboot -- was redundant. This, however, also applies to rc1, because killprocs will do that for us. * debian/postinst: ... - Removed last remaining stop action (for rc1) from upate-rc.d (see above) ... <-- snip --> Looking through cron bugs, I find #583714, and that contains: <-- snip --> Apart from your bug report, we were previously aware of the insserv issue. I'm still contemplating a solution for this in postinst, but the problem is that there is no easy way to determine whether the current runlevels were set by an older cron or by the system administrator. Even on post-101 installs, the administrator might have manually set (0 1 6) after the package set (1), so we cannot just delete the links if they are present. <-- snip --> My impression is that there are two problems: - There is confusion whether a package can remove links when the defaults change and - there is the question how to fix it in the many packages where it is currently wrong after upgrading. > Happy hacking, > Petter Reinholdtsen cu Adrian -- "Is there not promise of rain?" Bug#643748: Passwords from conf not accepted anymore
Package: duply Version: 1.5.5.1-2 Hello, after upgrading from 1.5.4 to 1.5.5 passwords are no longer accepted. If you run the script it shows a password input field - which makes absolutly no sense for automatic scripts. ;-) On my machines I use FTP and SCP for backup, both methods have the same issue. I quickly read over the bug reports in the duply tracker and saw some bugs related to this issue. Seems to be fixed now. Maybe you want to upload a new version to Debian repository, because this is really a showstopper. Yes, but uptream use a specific codeBase for this java.policy : grant codeBase "file:/usr/share/icedtea-web/netx.jar" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; (I've uploaded icedtea-web-1.1.3 with this policy to be closer to upstream) In fact, it's an issue with openjdk-6 where he didn't allow it's own sunpkcs11.jar library to access internal classes. I'm preparing an update for this. And thank you Martin and Bernd for the veto, I prefer to re-use already-established resources as well :-) As I wrote in my first email, what concerns me the most is the following: >>> Post Policy: >>> Restricted to some teams: Events (all of the members), Publicity >>> (basically, the Press team) and WWW (if someone wants to). >>> In principle, those who can commit to www.d.o/events/ should be able >>> to send a post as soon as they add a new event. >>> >>> Alternatively, posting can be restricted to the Events and Press >>> team only, using the following workflow: whoever adds a new event >>> also sends the announcement to the debian-publicity@ list for >>> reviews, then a member of the Events and Press team posts that to >>> this new list. I do not want to have another write access at any cost, but the fact that the Events team should wait for someone else to formally announce an event is IMHO a bad workflow, especially considering that most of the time there is not enough manpower, both in the Events and in the Publicity teams (please correct me if I am wrong). I was also thinking about "automatic" notifications/emails based on CVS commits on the www.d.o/events/ pages, but 1) it should be implemented and 2) I am not sure the WWW team and/or DSA would be happy. This problem is orthogonal with the list, so let us discuss it later on. > Depending on the event d-announce or d-news is a better place for such > announcements, indeed. I would be against any split based on the kind/importance of event: the rationale for the request is exactly to have a central point, while now we have the debian-events-*@, the debian-news@ and the debian-publicity@ mailing lists, as well as personal blog posts. Frankly speaking, I do not care if it is debian-announce@ or debian-news@, but my preference would go to the latter, given its description. What does the Publicity/Press team think about that? Bug#643750: iceweasel: add "open with" to context menu of download history
Package: iceweasel Version: 7.0-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, related to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=613752 I want to suggest to add an "open with" entry to the context menu of the download history. currently clicking on a link to a pdf file, firefox/iceweasel asks me what to do (save / open with...). Usually I want to do both - store the pdf somewhere in a non-temp directory and open it. This leads me to choose "save", the file is downloaded, the download history pops up, where I can click on the downloaded file to open it. However being affected by the aforementioned bug, the pdf is not opened with an appropriate application. Unfortunately in the download history I only have the choices "open" and "open containing folder" (among others). >From a regular file browser I can choose the appropriate pdf viewer but end up with dozens of open file browser instances. Therefore my suggestion is to make the application choice not only available from the website link but also from the download history. Package: git-buildpackage Version: 0.5.31 Severity: minor -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Hi Guido, I was very happy to see a tool that does this repetitive work of repository setup on alioth for me. However I couldn't figure out how to create repositories for java or scala packaging. Scala packages are in /git/pkg-scala/packages, Java packages in /git/pkg-java. On the other hand, it seems really annoying, that repository creation can't be done over the web interface... Second, I'm a little concerned to let a tool act on my behalf on a Debian machine. I've not tried to run it. It should print all commands to the screen it wants to run and ask me for confirmation. And if it does, it should be explicitly said in the manual that the tool will not do anything without my explicit confirmation. Thank you for your work! Bug#643733: reportbug: support for mentors.debian.org pseudo package
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello Michael, On 29.09.2011 06:32, Michael Gilbert wrote: > I've written a patch to tentatively support a mentors.debian.org pseudo > package (in order to better track and support the incredible volume of > sponsorship requests and such). I appreciate your efforts and I like the idea of reportbug integration. I won't comment about the patch itself, I am not maintaining the reportbug package, so I can't judge. However please note, mentors.debian.NET is not an official Debian project. The ".net" indicates a subtle difference. While some people, including Don, agreed in eventually having a debian-mentors pseudo package that would be associated with the debian-mentors mailing list, not with mentors.debian.net (i.e. Debexpo, the sofware running there). Hence I don't think any tight mentors.d.n integration of reportbug would be appropriate for the time being. Also I am not particularly convinced on the way you do it (content scraping). If you want, I will gratefully merge a SOAP interface into Debexpo you could query though. - -- with kind regards, Arno Töll IRC: daemonkeeper on Freenode/OFTC GnuPG Key-ID: 0x9D80F36D -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJOhEXsAAoJEMcrUe6dgPNtGEwQANXlo9VY6mWhDC1WfTQpWjAJ iBfDYVcHCYGCszfhxt6QOlmvMgjuemwazkYr2eU8Vsk5T7mRS5xeAO4H0pz+Hrwf Fu2vp2sk1iC+Wy08lnY96GDGWMwuT+5OfxTEFX7Qd2xG14MmlHIrSQIM6H5VB8lw ziOzqZ/rQmfYxclj2GLb/AtAJjtkAttfAj8suVLdQ6eJsXEAuBfoDBSC0nJtU4m+ kP04UwzrfrtCFYLjhBtyr4ujBS5dNuu6Qvvm0er8tlTFa9Bg8QbMGkTtiKFAqXES y+YtyfZHTG5qQLm0v7wmz0fB9yxXMPf1HziV4QEqltdGpamxvEFQgaFalSZ8F4KM oWqD+6F6RJLIVJl6soefVE37F4cQ44OyhWL33ODS3CUaJL4qOH9UgL1ZTXNGzs1c czZ4ZZN+y+NhVtpCx8oRoHHKUJSMnXGfsFO/2RrUUPCLTavql4pjyDRwRa9dPctp sVb5Euu404JZx4jHbL2pt0VMTu5wnwOBpX5bspNTbZ3PE2H5SwzjZarxnlTPcUWU 9j3Xw+uP9Ul2Z5G6a8f/4VcAsA9Acgeh0E3jR/4PrsAQ+h5fieXEPBOtD+qhLaRh bSojOXrXIU8dvxXo6dlLCwyvPP2rF6QAprS5FcAjQNILiDmv7eupFtWeuZMd6/jZ l3Mh0DGfj3PcGuipCAwt =43lA -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#639015: [Pkg-haskell-maintainers] libffi soname change upcoming

Now you update libffi and ghc gets rebuilds, what will happen: A) The haskell ABIs stay the same, the existing library packages can still be used. Great. B) The haskell ABIs change. We’ll have to binNMU all Haskell libraries, but oh well, not bad thanks to BD-Uninstallable-support in wanna-build and autosigning. C) The haskell ABIs do not change, but the old library builds are broken nevertheless. Big mess. Hard to recover from, because builds are not ordered automatically any more. Needs lots of NMUes and Dep-Waits. sorry, I don't get the `C' case. why should these be broken by a libffi or libgmp change? Maybe it’s an unrealistic example, but I could imagine that ghc some data type (size) defined by libffi is used when generating code for a haskell library under the assumption that it has the same structure/size in the run time system and/or other used haskell libraries. But instead of making blind guesses, maybe GHC upstream can enlighten us: Is it safe to build ghc and a Haskell library, then upgrade libffi to a new version (with soname bump), rebuild ghc, but use the previous library build? So there might be difficulties because we build static libraries. E.g. the RTS would have been built against the previous libffi, but would then be linked against the new one, which might be ABI-incompatible. Shared libraries would notice the upgrade and use the old ABI, but static libraries won't. How is this supposed to work, incidentally? I just checked the Drepper document about shared libraries and he doesn't seem to mention this problem. How do other packages with static libraries deal with this? In Debian, we only build Haskell libraries still exclusively statically. I’m not sure if I got your conclusion: Do you expect problems if the RTS and libraries were built against different versions of libffi, or not? Sorry for the delay, just going through my inbox and I think I missed your message before. To answer your question: yes I would expect problems. My question was: how do other (non-Haskell) packages on Debian that contain static libraries deal with this problem? We should follow whatever approach is used by others. Also, if you get a chance some time to test a 3.x kernel from sid or experimental, that would be very helpful. The only packages from outside squeeze that should be needed are linux-base, initramfs-tools, and the linux image itself. Panning no longer works. Sorry if that wasn't clear. To be more precise, I suspect that there is some panning - by a few pixels: it is hard to tell. So before I could pan around the 1024x1024 virtual screen using a synaptics trackpad. With the new packages, no panning (modulo possibly a couple of pixels) occurs. The initial state as reported by xrandr is: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 600, maximum 4096 x 4096 LVDS1 connected 1024x600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 195mm x 113mm 1024x600 60.0*+ 800x60060.3 56.2 640x48059.9 VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) I notice "current 1024 x 600" above. As noted in the first report, "current" changes to 1024 x 1024 despite --mode 1024x600. I am not sure whether that is significant. ael -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#643761: qemu-kvm: Attaching usb devices to a Win7 guest only works for the first device
Yes, I have tried the sid version. Same behavior, but funny thing: When using qemu-kvm without libvirt it behaves differently: - Adding a usb-keyboard using the monitor and usb_add host:5.4 works - Deleting the usb-keyboard using usb_del 0.1 works - Adding it again works. This does not automatically create a usb-hub as done by libvirt. - Adding a second device and a third device works, too But now a Generic USB Hub is added. - Removing the second (and third) device does not remove the hub - Reattaching the second device does not work - Removing the first device does work Reattaching any device does not work as long as the hub is in place! - Removing the hub works Now attaching devices work again. Apparently the communication with the hub is broken on Win7. It works fine on WinXP and Linux as far as I have tested. I'm a long time Debian user and admin and I don't remember similar case. Suppose that my developers need that Cacao package. What then? Bug#643761: qemu-kvm: Attaching usb devices to a Win7 guest only works for the first device
Ok. Now it is getting really weird. I tried to reproduce the behavior on WinXP without libvirt. Adding the first device works via usb_add (without adding a hub) Adding a second device does not really work - The device is added - A hub is added automatically - But the devices apparently are not enumerated - info usb shows both as 0.0 - The WinXP guest does not display the devices in the device manager Removing the first device reestablishes the function. Both devices are enumerated und functional. Adding, removing and reattaching further devices works fine. So while WinXP requires a hub Win7 works without a hub. Somehow Win7 apparently loses/cannot establish the contact (bus) to the hub. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#643768: src:landell: does not byte-compile Python files
Package: src:landell Version: 0.92.1-1 Severity: important Tags: patch Your package does not byte-compile Python files. This task is usually done by dh_python2 (or, in the past, python-support or python-central). In order to fix this, you should apply the attached patch. The override is necessary because it installs in an unusual directory. If the package used /usr/lib/landell or /usr/share/landell, it wouldn't be. Fwiw, I guess I'm gonna prepare an NMU including that patch. Failing to lock the screen might be considered as a security issue, which is indeed really bad. In this case, it's not completely bad since the user should see it right away and could act directly (though she's unlikely to know what to do). The deadline was Sunday. That said, I really don't want to introduce behaviour changes due to security updates in a point release. Instead there should be a proper announcement stating the pros and cons of re-enabling t1 support for those who need it, if it's going to be deactivated by default. Point releases are supposed to be non-breaking bugfixes, it should not be needed to read the announcement for them. For security updates there are often important information in the announcement, like the dropped support for some Java VM variants in DSA 2311-1. So if you feel that this is important enough to disable the functionality and that the functionality is used widely enough that it warrants that the users ought to be informed about the regression, please make sure that an announcement is made to the proper venue, which is -security-announce. Bug#640724: plasma-desktop: pager widget doesn't remember settings
Package: plasma-desktop Version: 4:4.6.5-3 Followup-For: Bug #640724 Hello, The pager widget/applet doesn't remember its settings. I have 4 workspaces in a horizontal row. In the pager applet, the setting "Number of rows:" is set to 1. When the system starts, the pager shows the workspaces in one row, but they are really arranged 2x2 and when using shortcuts, can only be switched to with left-right and up-down. When I set "Number of rows" in Pager Settings to 2, click OK, and then set it back to 1, the desktops are arranged correctly side-by-side in one row. After rebooting or restarting KDE, the pager shows 4 desktops side-by-side while they are physically arranged 2x2 (which is incorrect). Somehow, restoring the setting of "Number of rows" only applies to the pager widget and not the physical desktop layout. I expect the layout of the pager widget and the actual physical order of the workspaces to match (preferably in one row, because I'm too stupid to use 4 keys to switch workspace). Bug#643771: initscripts: hostname is set to FQDN; /etc/hostname not read or hostname.sh not executed?
Package: initscripts Version: 2.88dsf-13.11 Severity: normal Hello, Since yesterday, `hostname` returns the FQDN and also $HOSTNAME is set to the FQDN. /etc/hostname contains just the hostname (a single word) and is readable, so I assume /etc/init.d/hostname.sh somehow doesn't read /etc/hostname anymore. Perhaps this is related to the /run switch? Either hostname.sh isn't executed or /etc/hostname isn't read. /etc is on the / partition, as is /boot, so this is not a mount problem. X behaved funnily as applications couldn't connect to the X server anymore due to the hostname changing – probably during an apt update, or perhaps some daemon crashed. While the problem appears minor, the consequences might be more serious, depending on what exactly is in /etc/hostname, /etc/hosts and friends. Bug#643772: develock comes with absolutely no documentation
Package: develock-el Version: 0.36-2 Severity: important -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Hi, develock comes with absolutely no documentation, no info pages, nothing in /usr/share/doc. I consider this a major usability issue. My questions are: - - what exactly do the different collors mean? - - what exactly is highlighted by develock? - - How can I customize the colors? - - How can I customize the maximum line length to a more modern value (say 100-120)? - - Is there a tool that automatically removes trailing whitespace?
