Ah, and that's why you report it again even though the bug already is reported?

Yes, but well, they are not supposed to be coinstallable anyway :)

Anyway, already reported (and fixed, to be uploaded soon). Please actually check
whether bugs already are reported.

Package: librapi2-tools
Severity: normal

Search for synce components using:
  apt-cache search synce
this package (containing the standard SynCE command line tools!) is
not found.

Further more none of the base SynCE packages (e.g. synce-sync-engine)

So it is unnecessarily hard to find the package containing the
standard SynCE tools if one wants to install SynCE, knowing only the
project name.

Found the problem on Lenny but it still persist in squeeze.

Today I catch several gvfs* daemons idle around on my system. As I
never ever used gnome desktop and I never want, I want them not to

Unfortunately they get started by dbus automatically when a gnome

around and consume resources.

So please consider Madducks will and disable that crap or ask a user if
he want to have this crap. I do not want at all and I think, starting
the daemons without asking the user is insolently.

Bug#474913: Completely overrides /javascript in lighttpd as well

2010-11-11 Thread Michal Čihař
Package: javascript-common
Version: 8
File: /etc/javascript-common/lighttpd.conf

Hi

this bug is open for more than two years I still don't see clarification
why this needs to be done.

I see two major issues with this:

1. The alias is made globally for all (virtual) hosts, what just breaks
   lot of applications silently.

2. The /etc/lighttpd/conf-available/90-javascript-alias.conf symlink is
unconditionally recreated on each package update.

Given that 1 breaks unrelated software (this is actually how I came into
it) and 2 is violation of policy 10.7.3, I am upgrading this bug to
serious.

Aha. I see. So that qemu does not have the 'boot'
property for virtio block devices.

Here we go. It is not qemu-kvm, even if it claims to be so.
And this qemu-kvm does not support booting from virtio disks.

>> 2) what version of libvirt you're using and why it is not
>>adding that "boot=on" parameter.
>
> kvm:~# dpkg -l qemu-system

Now I wonder who created the symlink. My version of
qemu-system (0.12.5+dfsg-2) does not have that symlink.

I'm reassigning this bug to qemu-system because it is
the qemu-system behavour, not qemu-kvm. Dunno in what
state the virtio support in upstream qemu is.

But I can accept this as a bug in qemu-kvm too, due to
the missing /usr/bin/qemu-kvm symlink. When we renamed
the package I thought about renaming the binary too, but
decided it'd be too much incompatibilities. Apparently
most distros now name the binary qemu-kvm too.

Yes I understand this is too much confusion. But c'est
la vie: qemu-kvm as a whole, hopefully, is a temporary
package, which is just a playground for the kvm functionality,
to be merged back to qemu when ready.

One question remains unanswered still: where you got this
/usr/bin/qemu-kvm symlink from.

Thanks!

/mjt

Perfect. I'm still getting the warning from the ftp.de.d.o mirror but
I'm thinking it will synchronize soon with the master backports
archive and this will be gone too, right?

Thanks

Excuse me ? ... did you test this?
Because you are wrong. I just built it from source.

Right. It is expected with the next push which will happen after the
next uploaded package, either by a backporter or a buildd admin.

 You can check with:
wget
http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports/dists/squeeze-backports/Release.gpg
wget
http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports/dists/squeeze-backports/Release
gpg Release.gpg

Thanks for choosing a mirror, btw. :)

Bug#603143: mount device before trying to import from PTP cameras

2010-11-11 Thread David Paleino
Package: gthumb
Version: 3:2.12.0-2
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

gThumb should check and, if it's the case, mount the device before trying to
import photos from a PTP camera.

This causes a bug in the import function, which doesn't work in non-GNOME
desktop environments (i.e. Xfce). GNOME, in fact, automounts cameras as they're
plugged in, and gThumb could then do the import.

For Xfce, a workaround is to add "gvfs-mount %d; " to the Exec line in
gthumb-import.desktop.

cd ~
gscan2pdf
I scan an image.
I quit.
I have now a "raw.pnm" into my home directory.

In the preferences, my frontend is "libsane-perl" and the temporary
directory is correctly set to /tmp/user/500 (which is the value of
$TMP). I use unpaper but no OCR.

After scanning, there are PNM files into a directory in /tmp/user/500
(as well as a session file). This directory is correctly
removed. Therefore, maybe this is not gscan2pdf which generates this
raw.pnm file.

I have tried with simple-scan and it appears that I also get a raw.pnm
file. Looking at the source of libsane, I see that this raw.pnm file is
created by my backend (genesys). I reaffect this bug to libsane.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install. As per

Installation was hanging, so I had to kill it:

Well I can tell you RIGHT NOW that I needed it. I am using debian
lenny, perhaps the package is pulled in by another dependency after
lenny? ...

It would appear that in squeeze, that python-xml was dropped (the
source package for python-xml-dbg). So you seem to be correct for the
package in squeeze. So I guess, yes this bug is invalid (except if you
count (failing) building libxml2 from sid on lenny as an issue ^ ^ ).

Bug#603146: gkrelltop: Separate CPU/Memory/IO modes not visually distinctive.

2010-11-11 Thread A. Costa
Package: gkrelltop
Version: 2.2.13-1
Severity: normal

Of krell modes a README file says:

% zgrep -A 6 "Moving the" /usr/share/doc/gkrelltop/README.gz
Moving the mouse over the krell panel causes a tooltip to appear,
showing more info such as the PID and processor usage percentage.
The refresh of the top three will be suspended for about 2 seconds,
when mouse first moves over.

Upon clicking, the krell will rotate between CPU, Memory, and IO monitoring
of the processes. Upon rightclicking, the config panel will come up.

But when the krell "rotates" between the three modes, they all look the
same. Usually the numbers and rankings differ between modes, but
without using the mouseover tooltip there seems to be no visual
indication of which mode the current numbers and ranking represent.

Possible visual distinctions include: a header, e.g. "CPU", etc.
(takes space), or different background colors by mode, or a three-state
icon illustrating the mode, or three icons one of which is highlighted
as a sort of radio-button icon, and so forth.

HTH...

Here's an isolated fix from upstream 0.18_001.

Looking at the code, I think squeeze would be better with the other
fixes in 0.19 but that's not my call.

Bug#603148: chromium-browser: does not work with home directory on AFS

2010-11-11 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: chromium-browser
Version: 6.0.472.63~r59945-2
Severity: important
Tags: upstream fixed-upstream
Forwarded: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=44606

Chromium fails to start if AFS is used for the home directory:

  $ LC_ALL=C chromium-browser

[24629:24629:4653558837445:ERROR:chrome/browser/process_singleton_linux.cc(855)]

running multiple instances would start multiple browser processes rather than
opening a new window in the existing process. Aborting now to avoid profile
corruption.

This has already been fixed upstream in the 7.0.517.24 release [1], the
patch is available in [2].

According to the upstream bug, LTSP installations might also be
affected.

I remember that there was some sort of wired problem as i first tested
kvm/libvirt on the machine; that it included /usr/bin/qemu-kvm and symlinking
it to qemu-system-x86_64.

I now linked qemu-kvm to /usr/bin/kvm from the package qemu-kvm and everything
works. Libvirt-manager runs qemu-kvm, recognizes that this version supports
boot=on and uses it in the options.

The bug i think i face is one in the libivrt-manager (0.8.4-8) as it does not
use /usr/bin/kvm but /usr/bin/qemu-kvm which does not exist.
I also did an reinstall of all installed qemu/libvirt/kvm packages after
removing the symlink to see if there is an e.g. postinst-script that would
create such an symlink. There is not something like that, so [1] might be
right ;).

I build it from source every time I upload a new version, in a clean
chroot, that only installs build dependencies, and thus doesn't contain
python-xml-dbg, thank you very much.

The buildds do that too, for that matter, and never failed either.

Bug#602289: powertop: Powertop crashes after a few seconds from start

2010-11-11 Thread Premysl Hruby
Hi,

I have that same problem too, I'd rebuild powertop with debug symbols
and found where the problem lies:

in config.c there's staticaly defined aray (configlines) used to hold kernel
config,
with 5000 lines tops, but current (2.6.35-trunk) kernel for amd64 has
5046 lines of config, but that limit of array is never checked.

Quick check is to raise the array size and add some form of limit check.

/tmp/.rpld is a socket opened by rpld. It should be created in case

OK, so I tried it, and it actually doesn't work for me. I HUP'ed my FR
server process running since Oct 16, that logrotate had previously rotated
out and cleared out. After the HUP, the /var/log/freeradius/radius.log file
is still zero-sized, while the files used by linelog continue to fill up
normally.

Are we sure we are all still talking about the same problem here? :)

Bug#602815: Missing kill -HUP in logrotate.d/freeradius

$ ./src/main/radiusd -sfd ./raddb/ -l ./foo

  In another window:

$ more foo
...
Thu Nov 11 14:14:01 2010 : Info: Ready to process requests.

$ rm foo
$ killall -HUP radiusd
$ more foo
Thu Nov 11 14:14:33 2010 : Info: HUP - loading modules

It works for me. Are you sure that the logs are going to
"radius.log", and not somewhere else? See also "lsof", to find out
which files the server has open. It *should* have a long-lived handle
to the log file.

Bug#602959: btag: FTBFS with binutils-gold because of missing symbol 'boost::system::get_system_category()'

2010-11-11 Thread Fernando Lemos
Hello Steve, Fabrice

On Wed, Nov 10, 2010 at 12:41 AM, Steve M. Robbins wrote:

I fully agree. gold is faster not only because it's highly optimized,
but also because it "cheats" by skipping the costly DSO dependency
lookup.

On Wed, Nov 10, 2010 at 4:18 AM, Fabrice Coutadeur wrote:

This is true for most packages. It's not valid for packages that
include libraries that inline code that, when compiled, refer to
symbols from other libraries, such as boost::filesystem and probably
many others.

boost::asio, for example, inlines code that refer to symbols from
libpthread. So if you link a boost::asio project and don't explicitly
link to libpthread with gold, it'll fail to link. Now this is even
worse than the problem with boost::filesystem, because using gold
you're now supposed to add a system library (-lpthread) to the
project, so you're going to have to conditionally link to it if it's a
Linux system (not to mention other Unix-like systems which don't have
-lpthread).

That's why some packages will require the DSO dependency lookup.
Adding those dependencies ourselves (as maintainers) is not a scalable
way to deal with the issue and it's duplicating information already
specified in the DSO, leading to inconsistencies in the long term.

> And it will be the same for Wheezy (see

I haven't been subscribed at -devel for long enough, but I don't
recall a discussion about gold there (there was a MBF announcement in
2009, but nothing was said about making gold the default). I don't
think this is going to get through, not unless gold runs with
--add-needed enabled by default or at least has that option available
(it's not supported at the moment).

Thanks for reporting the issue Fabrice, but for the time being I plan
to leave things as they are and postpone further discussion for when
(and if) gold becomes the default linker.

Regards,

Bug#603102: After update of libc6 from 2.7-18lenny4 to, 2.7-18lenny6, virtual machines (VirtualBox) unable to start.

2010-11-11 Thread Ján Rusnák

Problem solved, please close this bug.

VBox binaries is all suid, so there is new restriction active after
update of libc6 package. On all VBox 'so' files RPATH=$ORIGIN is set and
actually ignored by loader because of unpriviledged user run suid

binaries.

My workaround for this is:
find /opt/virtualbox/ -name \*.so -type f -exec ln -s -t /lib '{}' ';'
I can't reinstall or use packaged Virtualbox on production machines.

Here is the patch I will use:

tcp: Increase TCP_MAXSEG socket option minimum.

As noted by Steve Chen, since commit
f5fff5dc8a7a3f395b0525c02ba92c95d42b7390 ("tcp: advertise MSS
requested by user") we can end up with a situation where
tcp_select_initial_window() does a divide by a zero (or
even negative) mss value.

The problem is that sometimes we effectively subtract
TCPOLEN_TSTAMP_ALIGNED and/or TCPOLEN_MD5SIG_ALIGNED from the mss.

Fix this by increasing the minimum from 8 to 64.

That seems better, in that the HUP is now working as expected.

If you set "user" and "group" for the server, ensure that the user has
permission to read the configuration files.

I expect that the ftpmasters will not accept a seconda copy of the whole

Why the EAPTLS patch cannot be merged both upstream and in the standard
Debian package? I do not remember any recent activity on either front.

Hello,

The login to use for the network console of the installer is
"installer". This is TTBOMK not mentioned in the installer's
documentation or in the example preseed file. This is mentioned during
the installation process itself, but since I am installing "blind"
(see #603035) it would be nice to have this information in the
documentation.

I guess I'll have to add some more post-installation logic, because this
wasn't critical before, and some of the group memberships got out of sync
after upgrades and nobody noticed.

Bug#603161: faulty window clipping in nedit

2010-11-11 Thread Markus Porto
Package: nedit
Version: 1:5.6~cvs20081

I would like to report a strange behavior of nedit in Debian squeeze amd64.

Some information on my system: I just got a new Lenovo ThinkPad T510 on
which I installed Debian squeeze amd64 (as network driver e1000e of lenny
as provided with netinst did not work, a known issue with this ThinkPad).

I use the standard kernel that comes with squeeze,

Linux mupfel 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Sat Oct 30 14:18:21 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and the standard libc (2.11.2-7, as it comes with squeeze).

In the BIOS, I selected the Intel Integrated Graphics controller

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)

and I run xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.12.0, as it comes with squeeze) at
1920x1080 (the kernel module is i915). I use /etc/X11/xorg.conf (a bit
old-fashioned, I know, but I migrated that from my previous ThinkPad), I
guess that the relevant part is

Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Integrated Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "VideoOverlay" "off"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "on"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Generic Monitor"
Option "DPMS" "true"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "1920x1080"
Device "Intel Integrated Graphics"
Monitor "Generic Monitor"
DefaultDepth24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1920x1080"
EndSubSection
EndSection

I use fvwm1 (1.24r-55, as it comes with squeeze) as window manager (again,
quite old-fashioned, I know, but I am very happy with this simple window
manager).

My bug report is on nedit (1:5.6~cvs20081, as it comes with squeeze), and
the bug is fully reproducible doing the following: I start nedit that so it
opens an empty window. Using the menu `File > New' I open a second nedit
window. Now, I move one nedit window over the other nedit window using the
mouse, and lines appear in the upper nedit window (one pixel thick), first
at the location of the inner border of the lower nedit window (left, bottom,
and right) but then move with the moving upper window. The lines remain in
the upper window until it gets explicitly redrawn. I can also get these
lines in windows of several other programs (for instance xterm) when I move
these windows over a lower-lying nedit window. Windows of most other
programs (for instance iceweasel) do not get these lines, which is probably
due to their different window refreshing strategy. It seems that something
goes wrong in clipping the (re)drawing of the nedit window to the correct
area. From the grey color of the lines I guess that the problem is not the
inner part of the window (which is white in my case) but the frame around it
(which is indeed grey in my case).

I have tried the same with a couple of other programs to exclude that it is
a bug related to X and not to nedit, but I managed to observe the described
effect only when an nedit window is the lower window, so I guessed that it
is related to nedit.

I am somewhat unsure what further information might be helpful to trace this
issue (for instance a screen snapshot), but I will be glad to provide any
information needed.

Many thanks, and best regards,
Markus Porto

Bug#603162: python2.5: CVE-2009-4134 CVE-2010-1449 CVE-2010-1450: rgbimg

2010-11-11 Thread Moritz Muehlenhoff
Package: python2.5
Severity: important
Tags: security

This has been assigned CVE-2009-4134, CVE-2010-1449 and CVE-2010-1450
and only applies to Python 2.5 (it has been dropped from 2.6):
http://bugs.python.org/issue8678

Red Hat has a proposed patch (not yet merged in the 2.5 branch) in
the Bugzilla:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=541698

(The patch only applies after reverting the initial patch attempt
from
http://svn.python.org/view/python/branches/release25-maint/Modules/rgbimgmodule.c?r1=60793&r2=60792
 )

Since noone seems to actually use this module, we could just as well
drop it, I suppose.

Cheers,
Moritz

Then you should have added a proper version semi-header so the bts knows

you please do so?

Bug#591206: License updated (flvplayer)

2010-11-11 Thread Marcos Marado
flvplayer's website[1] was updated with a "licence":

"I get a few questions about what kind of license this player is released
under. I donŽt know, really.
You can do pretty much whatever the hell you want with it as far as IŽm
concerned ;) So use it for whatever, redistribute it, etc.
As long as you donŽt try to profit from/sell it in any way, itŽs probably
fine. If you are unsure, just drop me a quick email. "

So, this is clearly non-free (you can't sell it), but distributable. Maybe
this is enough to let us move tinymce to non-free and close this bug?

Bug#509052: Can no longer add attachments after upgrading from etch-backports

2010-11-11 Thread Ruben Molina
Hi,

I installed roundcube yesterday from backports. It was a first time
install, and I did reproduce this behavior.

Looking at /var/lib/roundcube/config/main.inc.php I found:

// use this folder to store temp files (must be writeable for apache user)
$rcmail_config['temp_dir'] = 'temp/';

Every time I tried to upload an attachment, a new file was created
in /var/lib/roundcube/temp/ but it was always empty.

After I tried setting 'temp_dir' to '/tmp/' the functionality was
restored, but using /tmp/ does not look like a really good idea because
it exposes the attachment to other users accessing /tmp/

Maybe it's a permissions issue?

Regards,
 Ruben

You seem to have been aware of that some time ago, judging by the
comment in tex-common's postinst script:

,
| # dpkg-query has two defects wrt not existing packages

`

Which you have corrected in tex-common 2.07:

,
| tex-common (2.07) unstable; urgency=high
|
| * work around an under-specification of dpkg-query that makes the calls
| to it in the configure script break configuration, and thus creates

The question remains WTF Holger's piuparts test was run with the ancient

Bug#602242: actually only a layout problem

2010-11-11 Thread Pascal Dormeau
Hi Michael

Thanks to the fix for #602101, I could narrow the problem. This is due
to numbers in password (again). Indeed the problem I reported does not
more exist if I use the numpad (provided i3lock is built with the
fix for #602101). Therefore i3lock actually remains responsive but the
problem is still here.

I must mention that I use a french keyboard layout with:
XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="fr"
XKBVARIANT="oss"
XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch,compose:rwin"

If I do not use the numpad, I need to use the shift key for numbers
(using keys from first row). And this does not work, unless a key (any
one) has been hit before i3lock is started.

I also noticed that if I use the capslock key instead of the shift key
for numbers (only for numbers because capital and minuscule letters
are also inverted), I can authenticate.

BTW, the simplest test case I found is:

startx -- :3

with .xinitrc containing:
sleep 5
i3lock -n

The sleep command allows testing the impact of a key being hit before
i3lock is started.

To sum up (tested with latest version from git tree):

- no key hit before i3lock starts; numbers with numpad -> ok
- no key hit before i3lock starts; numbers with capslock and first row->
ok
- no key hit before i3lock starts; numbers with shift key and first
row-> fail
- random key hit before i3lock starts -> ok anyway

Moreover, for the cases were no key is hit before i3locks start, the
following message is printed on the console (from which startx is
launched):
"WARNING: unhandled event of type 34"

Hope this additional information can help.

Kind regards

Pascal Dormeau

Yes, that makes it distributable for us, however:

$ apt-cache rdepends tinymce
tinymce
Reverse Depends:
  webgui
  citadel-webcit
  mahara
  horde3
  wordpress
  libwt21
  citadel-webcit
  roundcube-core
  python-django-tinymce
  knowledgeroot
  horde3

These packages would then need to be moved to contrib...

If I understand it correctly, it's just a plugin of tinymce in need of
that flash player? Then couldn't that plugin be moved to non-free (in a
sepperate source package) so that a tinymce cleaned from this plugin
could stay in main as well as the other packages?

Best regards,
  Alexander

I have bug report (#602543) which might be related. Could you try a UTF-8 locale
and see if that fixes your problem of gdu crashing.

Bug#603167: opensc: Various common operations fail on Feitian EnterSafe cards

2010-11-11 Thread Tim Small
Package: opensc
Version: 0.11.13-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream

As it looks like Squeeze is ending up with v0.11.13 I'd like to propose
backporting various fixes for Feitian EnterSafe cards - as without these
fixes these cards will be unusable for many common applications with
Squeeze...

References below:

http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/ticket/197

http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/changeset/3906

http://www.gooze.eu/forums/support/problem-converting-openssh-rsa-key-to-pem-format#comment-106

... the last of these isn't upstream yet, but omitting this patch
wouldn't impact many users. The first two will affect most users,
however.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi,

I just uploaded to unstable an NMU of zorp (version 3.3.6-1.1) which
fixes an RC bug that occurs on upgrading from stable. Please grant a

I would say that setting and unsetting the locale in the atof call is
a bit too heavy, so the 'PYMCA_POSIX flag' solution sounds better to
me.

On the other hand, if you already have an atof function in PyMca, why
not use one which parses the string independent of locale. Simple
implementations can be easily found with google code search, but their
reliability and speed is of course not guaranteed. Apparently both
Python and Perl do not use the libc atof, so code borrowed from them
would not be completely untested.

Best,

Teemu

Well, first of all: I'm an enthusiastic user of Mixxx and I'm very
sorry that it won't be available in Squeeze, but deep freeze is in
effect and the new release provides too many new features.
Of course, I've tried to ask upstream's authors to help me reviewing &
backporting patches from the 1.8.x series, they always said: "please
upgrade mixxx to 1.8".
This is not a criticism, I understand their reasons and policies but
many changes have been introduced, and I don't feel comfortable to
upload them into the next Debian 'stable' at this point.

BTW, new Mixxx releases will be available in unstable/experimental
and, once squeeze is released, I'll try to backport the most recent
one from unstable/experimental.

Regards,

   Alessio

Bug#603169: ax25-tools: kissnetd broken with PTYs

2010-11-11 Thread John Goerzen
Package: ax25-tools
Version: 0.0.8-13.1
Severity: normal

kissnetd assumes old-style PTYs, which are no longer supported.

The newer version does support them.

It is available from http://www.linux-ax25.org/wiki/CVS --

One other note: debian/copyright should be updated to reflect the new website.

compatible with the new unix98-pseudo terminals (programs: ax25ipd,
kissattach, net2kiss, kissnetd, mkiss and m6pack). There is also a new
tfkiss-version (1.25), which can work with the new pseudo-terminals.
The packages are available as source under

There are also rpm-packages for opensuse

The unix98-pseudo terminal has got only one master file
