I do wonder if there isn't something wrong going on during upgrades,
because I don't remember setting it to / either, and it *is* set to /
here too.

Bug#550498: workaround?

2010-05-19 Thread Yves-Alexis Perez
I noticed issues with midori and maps too, but it's not really related
to midori or webkit, but rather to maps. If you change the user-agent to
safari, it works fine (afaik) so my guess is that they fail to do UA
detection and they send javascript the browser can't
read/parse/whatever.

When using GtkLauncher, maybe it doesn't use any UA at all or something,
and thus gets a generic javascript.

It's just a random guess, but you might want to try to tune the UA to
see if it fixes the problem for you.

Cheers,

Bug#582200: gitolite's debconf ends silently if adminkey file cannot be accessed

The initialize is run with the git user indeed - but the key should had
got copied away earlier with proper permissions for that user. Actually
a reconfigure to the same user isn't able to add another admin key -
this is planned. If you would have reconfigured to a different user and
a different directory that should have worked.

But maybe there is indeed some logical error in this and your analysis
is more accurate, will have to take a closer look.

Yes, the error handling and at least the output can take a fair bit of
informational tweaking indeed. :)

I hope to get this addressed soon, thanks for your report and interest
in the package right now though!

 Enjoy!

This is a good idea. Probably, an option for /etc/default/awstats &

Hi Ondřej,

I certainly agree with you that this is not a real security mechanism,
however, why make it easy on the dump automated scanners?

What do people use these numbers for? I mean sure developers are the ones
who are (occasionally) interested in exact version numbers, but on balance,
I get the feeling that in a production environment, the numbers are more
likely to be used for nefarious purposes.

In any case, we're talking about the default value, interested developers
can probably change them. Personally, as a Debian user, I have the
expectation that Debian will choose (slightly) more secure values by
default.

Anyways, even though I disagree with this specific default value, I will
respect your decision and this bug will be a record that: the option exists
and that it has already been reported (I couldn't find one before I filed
this one).

Cheers,
Francois

This is kind of a recurrent argument, emerged for the first time when
the Ubuntu box got added to the PTS. I completely agree with you in
principle; still, it is kind of pointless to rename
s/Ubuntu/Derivatives/ while we only have that for Ubuntu. By all means,
all derivatives are encouraged to do something similar, but most of them
don't even have a BTS in the first place. The day some other derivatives
will come to us with a BTS, diffs, and a patch flow, that would be IMO
the right moment to generalize the thing (possibly even proposing a
standard format to expose data for Debian, etc.).

Doing that before seems like overengineering to me (unless you claim
that doing that can actually *encourage* other derivatives to do the
same, but I'm personally a bit skeptical on that).

Cheers.

Bug#582217: xapian-bindings: please rebuild against tcl 8.5 in experimental

2010-05-19 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Source: xapian-bindings
Version: 1.2.0-3
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: pkg-tcltk-de...@alioth.debian.org
Usertags: UpgradeDefaultTclTkTo85

Hi Olly,

In squeeze, hopefully the default version of tcl will be 8.5. To find
problems that might prevent that, it would be nice to rebuild all
relevant packages against the updated tcltk-defaults in experimental.
As discussed on debian-release[1], this requires sourceful uploads.

I just tried rebuilding version 1.2.0-3 with the patch below applied
and did not run into any problems.

One change in the patch requires extra explanation:

 -TCLSH=/usr/bin/tclsh
 +TCLSH=/usr/bin/tclsh-default

Without this change, if tcl8.6 is installed and we try building
against tcl8.4-dev, say, then the build will fail. I can file this
as a separate bug if you’d like.

Patch is against the source from experimental. If an NMU would be
simpler, please let me know and I can try to arrange it.

Regards,
Jonathan

Could you try with 2.30 in unstable and report back?

Yes it would, I believe you prepared the patch for VTK a while back.

I think Brad King rejected your patch because you were not propagating
vtkCommon or vtksys as an automatic dep.

So if you have an empty /usr/lib/vtk-5.4/VTKLibraryDepends.cmake, you
should be able to produce a simple example that does:

add_executable(bla bla.cxx)
target_link_libraries(bla vtkFiltering) # cmake will pull
vtkCommon/vtksys dep automatically.

In this case you can produce a different behavior for an installed
tree VTK vs a build tree VTK.

I believe that bashisms are the only problems here. The bug didn't
trigger earlier, because dash didn't support LINENO and configure
scripts try to avoid such shells; as a result, the configure script was
effectively run by bash. However, LINENO has been implemented in dash
(>= 0.5.5.1-4), so the script is run by /bin/sh now.

Indeed! The attached patch also fixes the FTBFS by simply fixing the
bashism. Obviously the ampersand character ('&') in the line calling
gcc has been interpreted by dash to run the compilation in the
background and proceed with the script, which already checked the exit
status and thus never realized that the compilation failed.

You're running the zlib version from experimental, right? Then you
look at an incompatibility between luatex and the zlib version (see
#581818). Rebuilding your luatex should solve the problem. We'll
schedule the luatex rebuilt for the time when the new zlib is in
unstable.

Bug#582218: reportbug: long package versions truncate package names to unreadability in package-version-list

2010-05-19 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: reportbug
Version: 4.12.1
Severity: normal

Hi,

is it possible to insert a newline between package name and package
version if they are "too long" and one would be truncated?
In the "packages reportbug suggests" list below this affects
"emacs22-bin-common |" and "postfix [mail-transp", but I have seen worse
examples:

Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-source recommends:
pn module-assistant | kerne (no description available)
ii nvidia-glx 195.36.24-1 NVIDIA binary Xorg driver

So what I would like to see is something like

and so on.

Oh, extending the length of the version we can do even worse:

What do you mean by "removed"? No listen-address at all in the config
file or a changed one?

Could you please send me the output of the commands
 netstat -tlnp | grep privoxy
using both settings?

In addition to this the output of
 grep localhost /etc/hosts
would be interesting.

Are you using a fresh installed sid installation or an old and
upgraded one? There seem to be differenced according to "localhost"
in /etc/hosts...

I am not sure that is what happening. I suspect gdm finishes several
seconds after the last init.d script exits.

Right. I have tried to define what should be measured at
http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/BootPerformance>. We should
measure the time it take from grub starts to the desktop is ready for
use when autologin is in effect.

I still suspect the parallel boot is faster, but the non-parallel boot
fail to measure gdm startup as it is happening after the last init.d
script terminates.

> Do you have an idea on how to accurately measure the boot time?

Kel is working on a new bootchart package, which make it a bit easier
to measure it accurately. With this, we look for when the CPU settles
down after boot.

Happy hacking,

Any news on this? I didn't see any other report on that, so unless you
manage to debug more on your side, there's not so much we can do.

By chance, could you setup a test account for us (and evolution

Yes, exactly. On second thought, it might be necessary to use

 tcl-dev (>= 8.5), tcl (>= 8.5),

still for experimental only, since experimental buildds are a little

Ah! That would explain it.

I've applied the patch and rebuilt mount.nfs. There's now no portmapper
interaction (when port=2049 is specified) and mounting the NFS server works
fine.

The problem is simply that gprbuild (both 1.2.0 and 1.3.0) contains

examples that assume a more recent version of the Ada front-end. gnat-4.4

Bug#582220: amanda-common: needs to depend on perlapi-*

2010-05-19 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: amanda-common
Version: 1:2.6.1p2-1
Severity: important
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: perl-5.12-transition

This package ships binary Perl modules in /usr/lib/amanda/perl. These
modules get compiled against a specific Perl binary interface, so they
need to depend on perlapi-*, as mandated by the Debian Perl policy.

Fixing this should be as simple as adding 'dh_perl usr/lib/amanda/perl'
in debian/rules and ${perl:Depends} in debian/control.

Having a perlapi-* dependency will ensure that the package will get
recompiled with a binNMU by the release team when the Perl binary
interface changes, usually in a Perl major version transition like the
upcoming 5.12 one.

I'm only filing this at 'important' because I haven't actually seen
any breakage in my tests with perl 5.12.1-1 from experimental.

I'm a bit baffled by this, but as I don't have a real Amanda installation,
I've only tested trivial things with Amanda::Config. It's very probable that
the modules will break in real use when there's ABI skew, particularly
on the 32-bit architectures where the Perl integers are now 64 bits wide.

Signs of such breakage include things like

 # PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 perl -e 'use JSON::XS'
 Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/auto/JSON/XS/XS.so' for module JSON::XS:
/usr/lib/perl5/auto/JSON/XS/XS.so: undefined symbol: Perl_sv_utf8_upgrade_flags
at /usr/share/perl/5.12/XSLoader.pm line 70.

and (on i386; this is most probably due to the integer size change):

 # perl -MDevel::Refcount=refcount -le 'print refcount($a=[])'
 583208145925439490

It has not been decided yet whether the Perl 5.12 transition will happen
for Squeeze or not.

Bug#582221: libldap(_r).so provided by libldap2-dev instead of libldap-2.4-2

2010-05-19 Thread Tanguy Ortolo
Package: libldap-2.4-2
Version: 2.4.11-1+lenny1
Severity: normal

Hello,

The compilation of OpenLDAP produces these library files:
libldap_r-2.4.so.2.5.4
libldap_r-2.4.so.2 -> libldap_r-2.4.so.2.5.4
libldap_r.so -> libldap_r-2.4.so.2.5.4
libldap-2.4.so.2.5.4
libldap-2.4.so.2 -> libldap-2.4.so.2.5.4
libldap.so -> libldap-2.4.so.2.5.4

These files are reparted on the following binary packages:
libldap-2.4-2: libldap_r-2.4.so.2 libldap_r-2.4.so.2.*.*
libldap2-dev: libldap_r.so
In addition, the libraries without “_r” are created as symlinks to the “_r”
ones, on the corresponding packages.

I do not understand why libldap_r.so and libldap.so, that are symlinks to
libldap_r-2.4.so.2.5.4, are installed on libldap2-dev. This is the development
package, that contains headers, static libraries and manpages, so I do not see
why it should contain a dynamic library symlink that is rather a run-time file.

Maybe these libldap_r.so and libldap.so should be moved to libldap-2.4-2?

Regards,

If you find a test case, please don't hesitate to tell us about it. I'm
not using TCL myself, so I'm having a hard time finding a reasonable
test case myself.

Cheers,

Here’s something:

  http://tclmon.sourceforge.net/download.php

The installation process looks a little fussy, but aside from that,
it looks reasonable. Haven’t tried it out yet --- time to go to
sleep.

This issue seems to be already fixed in upstream Git, so it's just
matter of extracting needed patches from there and putting them into
Debian package.

thanks

By the way, here is a patch against the package directory to implement
that change: it only modifies files in the debian/ subdirectory, by
moving the corresponding lines from one .install or .links to the other
one.

Bug#582222: S25 is late to start mdadm-raid

2010-05-19 Thread Tatsuki Sugiura
Package: mdadm
Version: 3.1.1-1
Severity: normal

I use a raid array with mdadm on LVM logical volume.
And I decided no array to start by initrd because the array
is not root filesystem and to avoid confuse with starting LVM.

/etc/init.d/mdadm-raid will start all raid arrays without initrd.
However, mdadm-raid was linked as rcS.d/S25. So mdadm-raid will
run AFTER trying to mount filesystems by /etc/rcS.d/S11mountall.sh.

I think mdadm-raid should be run before mountall.sh, like S10.

I do not remember exactly and will read those mails again, but please
note that our situation is very different from upstream: we do not
support static linking (there is no static library in libvtk5-dev),
and we already have transitive linking via the ELF format, so IMHO
VTKLibraryDepends.cmake may be different from upstream.

Sorry, I do not understand your test case, it seems to work just fine here:
  sudo sed -i -e 's/^/#/' /usr/lib/vtk-5.4/VTKLibraryDepends.cmake
  echo 'int main() { }'  > B.cxx
  echo 'FIND_PACKAGE(VTK REQUIRED)
  ADD_EXECUTABLE(B B.cxx)
  TARGET_LINK_LIBRARIES(B vtkFiltering)' > CMakeLists.txt
  cmake .
  make
  ldd B | grep vtk

libvtkCommon.so.5.4 => /usr/lib/libvtkCommon.so.5.4 (0xb6f81000)
libvtksys.so.5.4 => /usr/lib/libvtksys.so.5.4 (0xb6f4c000)

Bug#582226: virtualbox-ose: PXE stack provides 0.0.0.0 as address for TFTP server for WDS' wdsnbp.com

2010-05-19 Thread Paul Millar
Package: virtualbox-ose
Version: 3.1.6-dfsg-2
Severity: normal
Tags: sid

I'm trying to use Windows Deployment Service (WDS) to auto-deploy Windows to a
VirtualBox image via network PXE boot. As part of this installation process,
the central server will attempt to wipe the virtual machine's hard-disk and
install a Windows setup.

Here's what happens after the main BIOS initialisation has completed:

   1. the (virtual) machine BIOS/network card issues a DHCP request.

   2. the DHCP server replies with information, including the machine's IP
address, PXE image filename and TFTP server's IP address.

   3. the machine successfully downloads (via TFTP) the PXE image: wdsnbp.com

   4. the PXE image (wdsnbp.com) starts.

   5. wdsnbp.com detects the VirtualBox image's architecture (x86)

   6. wdsnbp.com attempts to acquire an architecture-specific installer via
TFTP

The problem is with the last step: wdsbnp.com attempts to contact the TFTP
server with IP address 0.0.0.0. Not surprisingly, this attempt fails: the
attempt to TFTP the required file from this IP address solicits no replies and
the attempt eventually times-out.

Inspection of the network packets shows that the DHCP server-provided
information does not contain this incorrect IP address; therefore, it seems
that either the PXE stack has become corrupted or WDSNBP is expecting the TFTP
server's IP address to be stored by some means that the current VirtualBox
BIOS/PXE stack doesn't support.

The network driver is connected to a physical interface (eth0) via an internal
bridge, so the machine's network adapter is using the "bridge adapter" option.

The above behaviour happens with both the PCnet-FAST III and PCnet-PCI II
adapter emulation. None of the emulated Intel devices (Intel PRO/1000 MT
82540EM, Intel PRO/1000 T 82543GC, Intel PRO/1000 MT 82545EM) succeed with step
1. above: they all fail to issue a DHCP request.

I believe VirtualBox has built-in support for PXE-booting by including code
from the Etherboot project. This appears to be where the problem lies.
Unfortunately, the Etherboot project itself appears moribund; instead, activity
is focused towards the gPXE project, which is an off-shoot of Etherboot.

Following the instructions here:

http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/romburning/vbox

I was able to get VirtualBox to boot from a gPXE boot ROM, built from current
trunk (well, origin/master since it's git).

Perhaps the solution to this bug is to switch to using a gPXE image in
VirtualBox. If direct integration within VirtualBox is awkward, this could be
achieved by building a suitable gPXE ROM image and including it with the
distribution.

Cheers,

Paul.

2010-05-19 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Fabian Greffrath , 2010-05-19, 10:12:

Indeed! The attached patch also fixes the FTBFS by simply fixing the
bashism. Obviously the ampersand character ('&') in the line calling
gcc has been interpreted by dash to run the compilation in the
background and proceed with the script, which already checked the
exit status and thus never realized that the compilation failed.

Please note that there's other instance of that bashism in line 109:

python -c "import mutagen" &>/dev/null

Doing any system install while the system is in hibernation is asking for
trouble and IMO is simply user error. I don't think we need to support
that case.

A dual-GPU setup probably hitting the same problem. OK.

OK, I put together some experimental packages containing a lot of
changes and fixes over the 195.36.24-1 release, including the patch
mentioned before. You can find the packages here:

http://stxxl.ae.cs.uni-frankfurt.de/tmp/ea1deb9d-456a-4b51-9a0f-49a13354a009/

Please try the nvidia-kernel-source or nvidia-kernel-dkms package found
there and see if rebuilding the module from this source solves your
problem. You don't need to update any of the other packages.

It was probably fixed for a few dual-GPU setups with the first patch
(now included) but not all (hopefully fixing the remaining with the
second patch).

It is time to do that. udev is starting to warn about that. This breaks
grub2 on all lvm systems.

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I still don't have the upload rights, so I can't upload
the fix myself. Note that I've applied to be a DD, and I'm waiting for
the DAM review that is to take place this week. However, I am already a
DM, and I have built a new version that now has the DM-Upload-Allowed
field set, so I'll be able to manage future improvements.

Please sponsor the package below instead of the proposed NMU:

http://ftparchive.gplhost.com/debian/pool/lenny/main/s/sbox-dtc/sbox-dtc_1.11.2-1.dsc

And with the corresponding source repository (French mirror here,
especially for our friend Christian):

deb-src http://ftp.gplhost.fr/debian lenny main

Thanks for your localization care in Debian, it's always a much
appreciated work,

Thomas

P.S: If some of you guys have time, I also need sponsoring for other
(php related) packages.

Bug#491414: Hmm. still some problems...

2010-05-19 Thread Bilderbeek, Manuel
Yes, but that solution only worked for external sites, not internal ones. So,
when the jnlp is inside our own network (so, behind our own proxy), it still
doesn't work. For external sites like the one that was mentioned in the 2nd
post
(http://www.buho21.com/webstart/ajedrez/ajedrez.jnlp?ts=1217927743516&ajedrez=ajedrez.jnlp),
 things work fine now.

xine-lib, not kaffeine, has to be built with vpdau support to achieve your goal.

gnome-commander starts with no error message. When the mouse cursor is
positioned over menu items such as removable drives, hint
messages are shown. But the program does not react on input like mouse buttons

Sorry but this is not an answer. We will have to keep setting this until
there is an appropriate solution for rfkill management implemented in
the kernel. Setting this in the gnome-bluetooth package is even the
solution you recommended yourself.

Now I remember, so looks like the solution will be to use the tag and
depend on udev >= 154.

Bug#533164: 1) Why not package the newer version? 2) NMU

2010-05-19 Thread Regid Ichira

1. Won't it be easier, and hopefully better, to pull the upstream's
newer version, instead of looking for the correct patches for
   0.5.15lorg3.2-6?
2. As stated in http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/2010/03/#2, DDs
are encouraged to NMU RC bugs before a release.  Does the package
maintainer agree that you will upload an NMU to DELAYED queue?
Do you have the resources to package a version that will close
   this bug?

Bug#582234: cannot sink titanic in funnyboat

2010-05-19 Thread vreuzon

Package: funnyboat
Version: 1.5-6

The titanic cannot be sunk if the steamboat shoots birds and
cannonball at it. Thus, it's almost impossible to win.

birds costs titanic 12 points ; cannonball 1 point. if shooting the
titanic with birds, titanic life count goes negative without

beeing zero at any time. Currently, titanic dies if health is zero.

2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP

--> suggestion :

in funnyboat/titanic.py, line 46 : replace
  if self.health == 0:

by

  if self.health <= 0:

Thanks.

Bug#582235: very low display quality on some documents

2010-05-19 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Package: evince
Version: 2.30.1-2
Severity: normal

For some documents, Evince shows a much lower display quality than Xpdf.
In fact, the documents are almost unreadable with Evince. See the example
PNGs, I've attached to this report.

Maybe this has sth. to do with anti-aliasing?
Maybe this is the same error as

a) Your solution is IMHO fine (though the upstream naming of the
configure option is misleading, because afaiu libproj is linked
dynamically now and not statically).

b) just as additional comment:

Using dlopen basically allows to move a dependency from build-time to
run-time. The application can provide features depending on wether a
certain library is available at run-time or not. There are certain use
cases where this is required:

Typically interpreter language modules are implemented like that (you
can't build all possible combinations of perl/python/... + modules). Or
"more general" application plugins are done like that. One also can use
dlopen to update a running application (though this has its own problems
and I don't know a real-world example for that one at the moment)

karme

I've checked the manual conversion of the texmacs generated .ps into .pdf

Probably texmacs pdf conversion function points just towards the wrong

There is no newer version released and I'm not sure how good idea is
to package git snapshot. Also NMU should contain only minimal set of
changes and not a version upgrade.

I do not have time to prepare and properly test NMU (especially as I
know nothing about apt-rpm). However if somebody would prepare the
package, I can upload it (also you would quite easily find a sponsor
for upload fixing RC bug on mentors mailing list).

Sorry, but what are you talking about? Also in term of the Debian

 Ouch!

With stable version 0.2.4-4, debian/pathfinderd.postrm says

 This is the problem.
old version's postrm runs after preinst script, however postinst is too late.
How do I deal with that? Any idea?

The best way to debug such problems is to run Emacs under GDB from the
directory where you built it (.../emacs23-23.2+1/debian/build-x/src),
see etc/DEBUG for detailed instructions. If/when it crashes, report the
backtrace upstream (start a fresh Emacs and use M-x report-emacs-bug)
and wait for further instructions from the Emacs developers.

Cheers,
   Sven

I use unstable. However I don't transit to dependency based
boot sequencing. I'm Sorry, I forgot this mechanism all!

Please close this bug if it'll be resolved with insserv.
So I'll try to transit on my system.

Can you please perform the following steps:
- run "kaffeine --dumpdvb"
- start watching a channel where epg surely worked
- go to "Television" --> "Channels" and perform a channel scan (while watching)
- wait till the scan has finished
- close all kaffeine windows
- send me the resulting "KaffeineDvbDump-*.bin" file (it is in your
home directory)

Bug#582239: vrms --explain is broken

2010-05-19 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: vrms
Version: 1.15
Severity: normal

Version 1.15 breaks --explain because /usr/share/vrms/reasons/vrms has
moved to /usr/share/vrms/reasons/vrms/vrms, and vrms can't read it
properly (it silently fails to read the directory as a file). Fix
seems trivial: just put the file back in the right place!

Bug#582240: [ncal] -S moves the days around

2010-05-19 Thread Guido Trotter
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 8.0.11
Severity: normal

In my locale Monday is the first day of the week. I haven't tested if
this is reproducible in another locale, using -M instead.
Trying to print the current month:

$ ncal
May 2010
Mo 3 10 17 24 31
Tu 4 11 18 25

Th 6 13 20 27
Fr 7 14 21 28
Sa 1 8 15 22 29
Su 2 9 16 23 30

ncal and ncal -M have the same, correct output. 1st of May 2010 is a
Saturday. If I pass in -S though, I'd expect 1st of May 2010 to still
bhe a saturday, even if the last day of the week. So I would expect
something like:

(expected output):
May 2010
Su 2 9 16 23 30
Mo 3 10 17 24 31
Tu 4 11 18 25
We 5 12 29 26
Th 6 13 20 27
Fr 7 14 21 28
Sa 1 8 15 22 29

Instead it changed what day of the week each day is, which is clearly
incorrect. Same happens printing a whole year, with that option.

Hm, if preinst doesnt help, it might be that this bug is not really fixable.
Then just make sure it doesnt happen for future versions, I'd say.

With LVM, you cannot really know on which physical disk a given data

Bug#537941: vrms: RMS would not be delighted

2010-05-19 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: vrms
Version: 1.14
Followup-For: Bug #537941

On a similar note, suggesting that RMS would be delighted by a system
with no non-DFSG packages is false, and would best be removed until
such time as you can implement --fsf-worldview or similar. Two good
reasons:

1. RMS would be unhappy that non-DFSG-free packages because of
   GFDL-with-invariant-sections are reported as non-free.

2. RMS would be unhappy that a Debian system with only DFSG-packages
was reported as free, because he knows about the grandfathered
exceptions that still exist in the kernel.

This may sound like tiny things. IANADD, but I have been using it and
Ubuntu heavily for 6 years now, and value it; on the other hand, I am,
since two years ago, a GNU maintainer. I often see animosity between
the two camps, which to me is ridiculous, and I try to promote
harmony. After a recent discussion on an internal GNU list that
included some remarks about Debian being non-free, I want to mention
vrms as a practical way in which Debian tries to give users the tools
to monitor their use of non-free software. I fear however that in its
current state it might be seen by GNU maintainers as another example
of Debian twisting the meaning of "free". (I would reiterate that this
is not a view I share.)

A little more sensitivity in the wording could possibly make vrms a
valuable point of contact between the two projects: for example, there
might be GNU maintainers willing to implement some of the more complex
functionality for vrms that has been suggested in other bugs, to make
it a more useful and discerning tool.

Thanks for your report. You need to install python-dolfin when using
the '-l dolfin' option. I will add python-dolfin to Suggests in

Hi,

a possible hack: remove that line from the old postrm in the new preinst?

it's hackish, but should do the trick. not sure if policy / common-sense
allows it or if the cure is worse then the problem :)

Bug#581593: Update

I've had a similar warning message when trying to decrypt my encrypted
root filesystem, except that NAME is not "mapper/sdb2_crypt" but
something like "mapper/temporary-cryptsetup".

I've modified my 55-dm.rules in my kernel initrd, the warning message
has gone away but I'm still getting the following error:
cryptsetup: cryptsetup filed, bad password or options?

I've tried to run udevd with --debug, but it issues way too much logs on
my console to be analyzed and I don't think I can capture the output in
a file as it's occuring at the initrd stage.

Thanks.
Best regards,
