Bug#568981: ITP: gfarm -- a reference implementation of the Grid Datafarm

2010-02-09 Thread NIIBE Yutaka
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: NIIBE Yutaka

* Package name: gfarm
  Version : 2.3.0
  Upstream Author : Osamu Tatebe
* URL : http://datafarm.apgrid.org/
* License : BSD, LGPL, CDDL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : a reference implementation of the Grid Datafarm
The Gfarm filesystem is a distributed filesystem consisting of the
local storage of commodity PCs. PCs in a local area network, compute
nodes in a single cluster, multiple clusters in wide area, comprise a
large-scale, high-performance shared network filesystem. The Gfarm
filesystem solves performance and reliability problems in NFS and AFS
by means of multiple file replicas. It not only prevents performance
degradation due to access concentration, but also supports fault
tolerance and disaster recovery.

Older version has packaged for Debian in the past and .deb seemed
distributed once. In fact, source code contains debian/ directory,
but it outdated completely.

Thus, I am packaging now, and push it into Debian.

OK, it works!

Now I just need to understand how to have it properly move the pointer
(unless there are further bugs, which I think not because there are no
errors in the console) :-)

Thanks,

Bug#568944: it removes to wrong torrents

2010-02-09 Thread Chris
I cannot reproduce here.

When this happens do you have any status or label filter activated on the
left panel?
In transfer list, what column is sorted?

Just tell me exactly what you did so that I can reproduce.

localhost should be available on buildds, no? We already build-depend

2010-02-09 Thread Ondřej Surý
> Is there any progress since the patch?

Nope, and I doubt there ever will be. I guess we all (php maintainers)
share Steve's opinion on embedding php5. It's bad enough with php5
today, no need to make it worse by plugging language create to server
web pages to another random applications. If you need to embed
scripting language, use something more suited for the task - lua comes
to the mind.

Already "fixed" in sid. Obviously you didn't even dare to check the bugs in the
BTS for this.

And you want to foolow this note# (sorry, ths is unaviodable):

Template: ure/possibly_corrupted_rdbs
Type: note
_Description: Component registries might be corrupted
You are upgrading from a version which might have corrupted
 service/component registry files (*.rdb), especially
 /var/lib/openoffice/basis3.1/program/services.rdb and the rdb files
 in /var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache for installed extensions.
 .
If you experience problems with the component manager or segmentation faults
involving libstore in either unopkg or OpenOffice.org, please check these
files. Try cleanly reinstalling the packages and/or using a clean user
 profile.

Bug#568982: sqldeveloper-package: fails to build debian package, dos2unix is missing, which is not provided from tofrodos anymore

2010-02-09 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: sqldeveloper-package
Version: 0.2.3
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi there,

Since the tofrodos package removed the symlink 'dos2unix' (which pointed to
/usr/bin/fromdos),
the sqldeveloper package creation is interrupted. So just change the dos2unix
command in the
script to fromdos. (See patch)

To not run into problems if somebody has old sysutils installed and so only the
dos2unix
command exists, I would suggest to remove sysutils from the dependency:
tofrodos | sysutils (<= 2.0.0-1),
because this package isn't available in Debian anymore.

Michael

Here's what perlop(1) has to say:

Note that both "<<" and ">>" in Perl are implemented directly using
"<<" and ">>" in C. If "use integer" (see "Integer Arithmetic") is
in force then signed C integers are used, else unsigned C integers
are used. Either way, the implementation isn't going to generate
results larger than the size of the integer type Perl was built with
  (32 bits or 64 bits).

The result of overflowing the range of the integers is undefined
because it is undefined also in C. In other words, using 32-bit
integers, "1 << 32" is undefined. Shifting by a negative number of
  bits is also undefined.

Funnily, the variable is called $low4bytes, which implies that it
intented to contain 64bit integers, no mater what the processor. This
is not right, because 64-bit arithmetic doesn't work with 32-bit
integers:

# on 32-bit Celeron
$ perl -MConfig -w <<'EOF'
print "$Config{intsize}\n";
print "$Config{longsize}\n";
print "$Config{ptrsize}\n";
print 1<<60, "\n";
print 1<<28, "\n";
EOF
4
4
4
268435456
268435456

# on 64-bit Phenom
4
8
8
1152921504606846976
268435456

How about forwarding the bugreport upstream?
Or reading some description of MPEG and figuring out what the code
really does…
To me the right fix seems to be to treat the "low 4 bytes" as an array
of four bytes, instead of one 64-bit integer. Using Bit::Vector or
Math::BigInt may also be an option.

I didn't say "diff" just for fun. Please use diff.
(I already ignored that thsese diffs need to be manually applied,
too because we need to fix a .diff adding these lines, but didn't
expect you to touch ooo-build git)

Will have a look...

Then you should have moved the stuff needing it below it, that isshared

I hereby propose this package for removal. The QA rationale for that is
as follows:

- very low popcon: recent votes are only 3
- does not work with Postfix (RC buggy since 2004, even if severity was
  unappropriately low)
- no changes since Lenny, changes sincy Etch where mostly minor
  packaging stuff
- no upstream releases since 2004 (in spite of it not working with
postfix: looks abandoned to me); upstream CVS is down and non
  inspectable

Cheers.

Bug#568986: capisuite: Installed CAPI required for start

2010-02-09 Thread mtths
Package: capisuite
Version: 0.4.5-11
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Trying to use an AVM B1 with the capiutils-package the start of capisuite
fails, c. f. /var/log/capisuite.error:

Can't start Capi abstraction. The given error message was: CapiError: Error
in CAPI20_ISINSTALLED: CAPI not installed. occured in Capi::getCapiInfo()

Since capiutils (maybe there are other packages, too) installs CAPI the
enforced start of it (or a comparable one) prior to capisuite solves the
problem.

Cheers,
Matthias

Today I found the leak. Patch attached.

After running for a hour the VIRT remains < 150m and RES < 40m. It's
climbing *very* slowly but much better than unpatched.

Would you please forward it to upstream?

Thanks in advance.

Bug#531587: ITP: task -- An open source, command-line, TODO list manager

2010-02-09 Thread Federico Hernandez
Great, Alexander. Just do it.

Please be aware that we are currently preparing the relase of 1.9.0 (beta2
was released yesterday and we plan to have 1.9.0 out before the end of the
month). Which is why I haven't prepared the 1.8.5 for you. Sorry that I
missed to inform you, I realize now.

How would that influence the upload of the packages?

Would you also prepare "official" packages for x86?

I appreciate your help.

/Fredde

Bug#536285: mirage: diff for NMU version 0.9.3-4.1

2010-02-09 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
tags 536285 + pending
thanks

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for mirage (versioned as 0.9.3-4.1) and uploaded it
to DELAYED/2, according to devref §5.11.1. The patch is Evgeni's and
works fine for me.

I understand you've been preparing an upload of mirage for quite a
while, but this bug is now months old and quite dangerous for users. If
you have good reasons to postpone this specific fix any further, let me
know. If not, I suggest to let the NMU flow in, and later on proceed
with your upload fixing the other issues.

Cheers.

Don't. If you use synaptic, then properly upse upgrade features of it
(if it has some, I don't use it)

Selectively ugrading packages (imho) is broken.

No thanks for the unneeded reply to a bug which already states exactly
this :-)

Of course, this fix is only in -15 and to be sure you want -15s packages
(which also will force ure to be upgraded, the bug actually is in the ure
package anyway)

Thanks for the bugreport. I can reproduce it with the DocBook example as
well.

Dear serna developers, a backtrace is available on
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=568910
but at least I can not see any obvious hints. Also, I did not patch
anything regarding spelling. Any ideas?

While I support the idea that PHP is a hideous language that should
never be used, I do not support the idea that your role as maintainers
should allow you to refuse to package something for what is
essentially a religious reason.

Steve's comment about it being experimental is also incorrect, despite
the file he quoted, which is out of date. The embed APIs have not
changed at all in the four years this bug has been open, it is as
stable and mature as anything else in PHP. I think this argument is
only being used as a strawman to support what has already been decided
based on religious reasons.

Thanks,
Paul

When setting the correct permissions (u=rx,g=rxs,o= with ownership
ntop:ntop) on the directory, the permissions will always be ok:
- the directory will not be accessible by anyone else than ntop,
- the contained files will have appropriate rights to be read/written by
ntop. (I dislike the fact that they still are o=rw, but that doesn't
matter in that case)

If you remove the directory altogether, ntop will no longer start:
"Starting network top daemon: ERR: logging directory /var/log/ntop does
not exist will not start network top daemon!"

I'm not sure what happens on an upgrade. Is postinst run on upgrade? If
it is, then permissions would be correct afterwards.

Package: planetpenguin-racer-extras
Version: 0.5-3

Hi!

As planetpenguin-racer got removed and replaced by etracer this package is
quite useless in its current form.

One need to at least change the install path and transfer the course info
files into the new format (AFAIK the old tcl files won't do it anymore) and
check which courses are already shipped upstream.

I have also one or two courses "on hold" I would like to add.

Best regards,

Bug#568534: fixed in libapache-dbi-perl 1.08-1; what about stable?

The new package will migrate to testing automaticly in about a week.
See http://packages.qa.debian.org/libapache-dbi-perl (the "testimg
migration" box).

Perhaps it can be used in a 'PerlModule' directive? The bug is grave
if it cannot. And strange noone reported this before :/

> I would argue that it's important enough to be released to stable.

I agree with this.

> Please can you let me know your thoughts and whether there is

Your mail is sufficient :)

The patch[1] is rather slim so I expect no problems for a stable
update. Note that this still has to pass via the stable updates queue
and stable release managers.

Bug#568993: tpp does not work correctly with UTF-8 encoded files

2010-02-09 Thread pancho horrillo
Package: tpp
Version: 1.3.1-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

I noticed that the examples in /usr/share/doc/tpp/examples were encoded
in latin1. Recoded them to UTF-8, and tested tpp. Some extended
characters
are not represented correctly, and you can see "Ã~" sequences around.

$ recode latin1.. /copy/of/usr/share/doc/tpp/examples/ac-am.tpp; tpp ac-am.tpp

It would be nice to get tpp to render UTF-8 text correctly.

Also, tried to run tpp with ruby1.9, but still I get the extended chars
misrepresented.

Thanks.

Happy hacking,

Package: perl-modules
Version: 5.10.0-19lenny2
Severity: Normal

When using the mail gateway of request-tracker3.6 (version
3.6.7-5+lenny3), some mails produce the below error message.

This is due to a missing alias unicode-1-1-utf-7 for utf7 . See the CPAN

bug is fixed in Encode.pm version 2.27, the current version of Encode.pm

production platform, I suggest that the version for Encode.pm in

You don't need to apologize :). Due to the upcoming freeze (in March or
April), I would really like to have task in Debian ASAP, so that at least
the current version is included in the next stable release.

As soon as the new version is released, I will upgrade the package and
upload the new version.

Sure, I will upload the package and the Debian buildd infrastructure does
the rest (compile binary packages for all supported architectures).

I looked at the package. What about the "contrib" files that are released
together with task like the example scripts for vim, bash etc. I think they
should as well be installed. What about the bash completion? I think it
should be installed by default - unless there is a policy in Debain against
it.

Actually, there is something you can do.

Can you try installing the package from sid on your stable server and
report if it really works? This would back the stable update request
quite nicely. The dependencies should be satisfiable on stable.

No. This is not the issue at hand.

Either you permit people to use your module to send spam, or it
is non-free software (both in the Debian sense, as it fails DFSG
#6, and probably in other senses like OSI too) and will be removed
from Debian main. (If it will re-appear in Debian non-free is to
be discussed then.)

Kernel 2.6.32-1-686 has entered sid. Soon it should be in squeeze.

The tp-smapi-source package fails to build with this kernel. I have
attached the build log. Looks like it is missing an expected script.

I also have the 2.6.32-trunk-686 package, for which the package had
built.

So it could be that something got missed in the new kernel upload.

No problem. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, the one is sid is still
1.07 though ?

They are 'just' warnings. The kernel has no way of remembering whether
it showed the warning on a previous boot, so it will print the same
warnings every time.

Bug#568999: nvidia-kernel-common: provide ConsoleKit compatibility

2010-02-09 Thread Jean-Christophe Dubacq
Package: nvidia-kernel-common

Please include this patch that provides ConsoleKit compatibility and
avoids the need to be added to the video group for console users.

Since the devices are still owned by the video group, there is no trouble
for people already in this group, and old methods still work.

Yupp, see http://bugs.debian.org/568165
linux-kbuild-2.6 is currently broken for building ANY out-of-tree
modules, that's not tp-smapi specific. Should be fixed soon the the next
linux-kbuild-2.6 upload.

Merging this bug there for that reason.

And because as already said, it's hard to trust (reliability meaning,

Bug#568534: fixed in libapache-dbi-perl 1.08-1; what about stable?

2010-02-09 Thread Paul Orrock

Hi Damyan

I removed the 1.08 version I installed from CPAN and used the one you
pointed me at and it works fine for me as below.

pa...@gandalf:~$ sudo rm /usr/share/perl5/Apache/DBI.pm
/usr/share/perl5/Apache/AuthDBI.pm

pa...@gandalf:~$ sudo dpkg -i libapache-dbi-perl_1.08-1_all.deb
(Reading database ... 39632 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace libapache-dbi-perl 1.07-1 (using
libapache-dbi-perl_1.08-1_all.deb) ...

Unpacking replacement libapache-dbi-perl ...
Setting up libapache-dbi-perl (1.08-1) ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...

pa...@gandalf:~$ sudo apache2ctl restart
pa...@gandalf:~$

I've browsed through the pages on my website that use the DB and they all
seem fine.

The module can be used with PerlModule in the apache startup config without
failing but if you try and 'use' it to setup database connections in a
startup script or another module loaded at apache startup time then it fails.

Thank you for helping me push this through.

regards,

Paul

I'm not sure how to deal with these scripts, there are no licensing issues
(all GPLv2+), and I can auto-install them to the right locations, but I
don't know if that is the right thing to do... Any ideas (perhaps from the
other people following this bug)?

This problem was fixed on 2010-02-03. Apparently it's not packaged yet.
Can you try upstream?

I think you mean filesystem with errors instead of dirty. A dirty
ext3/4, xfs or reiserfs just needs a journal replay. Didn't think of the
error case though. Filesystems might have gotten the error bit set
during operations.

But I'm not sure that changes anything in the suggested behaviour. On
shutdown it would do the same as during boot, except prompt for the root
password. It always continous on shutdown no matter how bad the check
was.

Sorry no. Just the idea. Shouldn't be that hard to implement a test
though. Just cut&paste the script from startup and remove the bits that
would prompt or go into a sulogin-or-shutdown loop.

Also http://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.git;a=blob;f=NEWS;hb=HEAD indicates
that le16toh is first in libc at version 2.9.

We need this patch against GNU Parted 2.1 (that can be found in
experimental) since this is the current codebase. Besides, it would be
good if we push it upstream, we can work on that after this has been
ported to 2.1 version.

Can someone from Sparc take a look and port it?

Bug#543668: grub skips entries with accent in title

2010-02-09 Thread Vladimir 'φ-coder/phcoder' Serbinenko
Looks like you actually have 2 problems:
1) os-prober giving information in latin1 and not utf-8.
Can you run:
sudo os-prober > report.bin
then send resulting report.bin? Don't forget .bin to avoid file to be
reencoded
2) grub fails on incorrect UTF-8. I fixed it in upstream but it's not
packaged yet. Can you try latest upstream?

Before running NetworkManager --no-daemon, you need to stop any running

Bug#568534: [stable] update of libapache-dbi-perl fixing #568534

2010-02-09 Thread Damyan Ivanov
Dear stable release managers,

Please approve the upload of libapache-dbi-perl 1.07-1+lenny1 to
stable.

It fixes #568534[1] -- fails to load in startup scripts

[1] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=568534

The fix is to steal the relevant hunk from the upstream diff between
1.07 (in lenny) and 1.08 (in sid). The full upstream diff is available
at [2]. The backport_1.08-fix-startup.patch contains only the last
hunk (all else is cosmetics).

[2] http://search.cpan.org/diff?from=Apache-DBI-1.07&to=Apache-DBI-1.08

Debdiff, backport_1.08-fix-startup.patch and interdiff attached.

Thank you for your time.

Bug#568663: mirror submission for linux-stream.de

2010-02-09 Thread Daniel Vigano
Ok, thanks!
At this time I'm using this script:
http://www.debian.org/mirror/anonftpsync
Please delete my mirror if I really must use the other script and
install a push mirror.
But you can gladly use my mirror if I can use the anonftpsync script and
just run it twice a day.

Then shouldn't it have a suitable build-dep? AFAIK, I could get away
with running a 2.7 libc on a more modern kernel, and so if udev needs
more recent versions, it should have explicit dependencies on them as
far as possible.

Sorry about that. I realized just after sending the mail that the name
of the binary was jvisualvm and not visualvm...
Anyway, I fixed that with the upload 6-18-1.
