sorry, it does not work better with other dicts :|

Maybe that was not clear, but I use stardict-gtk (do not know if that
makes a difference) and I've tried with only stardict-english-czech
installed and that do not work either.

Bug#405482: stardict-gtk: segfaults when enable_collation=1 in the .cfg

2007-01-08 Thread epaulin

Hi Pierre,

I cannot reproduce this problem neither.
And my workstation is running Debian AMD64 On a AMD64 3800+x2 CPU.

Here is the dicts I am installed:
{{{
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -l /usr/share/stardict/dic/ | awk {'print $8'}
stardict-cdict-gb-2.4.2
stardict-cedict-gb-2.4.2
stardict-dictd_www.freedict.de_deu-eng-2.4.2
stardict-hanzim-2.4.2
stardict-langdao-ce-gb-2.4.2
stardict-langdao-ec-gb-2.4.2
stardict-xdict-ce-gb-2.4.2
}}}

I was experienced some stardict crashing in a long time ago, mostly is
cause by some unstable dict. I recommend you disable some dict, and
run it again.

Bug#405996: Fails to configure

2007-01-08 Thread Martin v. Löwis
> Indeed, py_compilefiles uses os.path without importing it.

I fail to see the problem. It imports os, and that should automatically
give you os.path, unless 'posix' is not in builtin_module_names (which
is hard to imagine).

Notice that the original report said "'import site' failed", which
means the Python installation on the submitter's machine is broken.

Wouter, can you please run "python -v" and report its output?

Bug#406046: Useradd: limits password to eight characters

2007-01-08 Thread Tina Isaksen
Package: passwd
Version: 1:4.0.18.1-6
Severity: important

Wehen using useradd with an encrypted password the password is limited to eight
caracters but this is not
mentioned anywhere.
Example: Cleartext password "testuserpass" makes encrypted password
"33nGdctTISeok". The system then accept
"testuser" as password when loging in.
Since this is not mentioned anywhere it poses a security risk even if one uses
complex password but the
'complexity' is after the first eight characters (which might be a word easily
cracked)

I'm not yet sure what the reason for this behaviour is. Are you
upgrading from a previous package version. If so, from what version?

If you have used a custom installation of the upstream distribution
before this might be the root of evil. The package does not support
upgrading custom installs (only upgrades from previous package
versions). The reason for this is that in theory the upstream stuff can
be installed in any location and I think it is not reasonable to test
for every possiblity.

I'd be glad if you could post more information.

Cheers,

Michael

SYSFS{idVendor}=="050d", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0551", MODE="660", GROUP="nut"

It would seem to be appropriate to import all the usb ids from

right, though it has been done for the upcoming 2.0.5, it hasn't on 2.0.4...

This means that the X server initialized the DRI, but something prevents
clients from actually using direct rendering.

LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo 2>&1 >/dev/null

Bug#403426: cryptsetup/linux-image-2.6.18-3-ixp4xx buglog divergence

2007-01-08 Thread Paul TBBle Hampson
Just poking around for low-hanging RC fruit...

This bug appears to me to have split into three
seperate bugs:

cryptsetup bug, when given bad data upgrade-header code corrupts header
This seems to be serious, and the point of #403426
On the other hand, if this bug only triggers when the kernel page
caching gets boned, it's probably not serious against cryptsetup,
but is the fault of the next bug.
Either way, fixed by the changes in rev20 upstream SVN, or the
1.0.5 release.

linux-image-2.6.18-3-ixp4xx bug, LUKS (and FUSE?) triggers page-cache
corruption.
This one seems critical, but has known fixe in
flush_anon_page-generic.patch and flush_anon_page-arm.patch in
debian-kernel SVN.

linux-image-2.6.18-3-ixp4xx bug, LUKS (but not FUSE?) fails to mount
under heavy load.
This seems less than serious (it's not actively corrupting data from
what I'm reading in the buglog) but prolly should be a seperate
bug for tracking purposes.

Anyway, from the looks of things there ought to be three seperate bugs
here, #403426 against cryptsetup, maybe downgraded and two against
linux-image-2.6.18-3-ixp4xx one critical (making an entire partition
unusable) and one important)

This would mean that cryptsetup is not unneccsarily RC, and the
critical data-corruption bug in linux-image-...-ixp4xx _is_ both
visible and appropriately RC.

Obviously it's submitter's and maintainer's calls, and I've already done
one impossible^wstupid thing before breakfast today with the BTS control
bot, so I'll just leave this here as a suggestion.

On the other hand I am glad now I didn't bother setting up LUKS on the
slug I built last week...

Bug#406048: gnome-pilot-conduits: addressbook corrupts data in Spanish PDA

2007-01-08 Thread Luis Fernando Llana Diaz
Package: gnome-pilot-conduits
Version: 2.0.15-0.1
Severity: important

I have just bought a LifeDrive Palm PDA. At home I have a KDE
environment and it synchronizes perfectly the address book. At work I
have a GNOME environment, I use evolution. The synchronization takes
place but there is a problem with the surnames. I Spain we have 2
surnames, when I transfer data from the PDA to the PC it interprets
the first surname as the 2nd name and the 2nd surname as the 1st
surname. So in successive times, when I synchronize the PC and the PDA
the data in the PDA is corrupted since the 1st surname (the most
important one) does not appear, well it appears as part of the name
that is not very useful.

Thank you. I can reproduce it. It's essentially a bug in Ghostscript
which pdfcrop calls to get the bounding box information.

On etch,

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# gs-gpl -sDEVICE=bbox -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -sPAPERSIZE=a3 -c
save pop -f 1.pdf 1>/dev/null
%%BoundingBox: 64 56 708 509

%%HiResBoundingBox: 86.075505 64.980490 538.308546 707.185525

It's the same in sid. The bounding box that gs-esp produces seems to be
portrait when it should be landscape, at least approximately.

This is a known issue. See similar reports on this page:

That is correct. Currently only vesafb is supported and we don't
expect to

be able to support different drivers anytime soon.

If I simply insmod a precompiled i810fb.ko, will it work ?

Could you provide the output of the following commands:

snip..

This is a tipical case of vesafb not being able to start because of
unsupported video card: many video cards simply aren't supported by
vesafb, so we implemented a sw fallback to the textual frontend for
those cases.
My question is: why this mechanism, which is provided starting from
rootskel 1.47 and rootskel-gtk 1.02 did not work for Roy?
Roy, could you please test today's miniiso [1] and see if you're brought
to a textual interface by just pressing at boot prompt?

I don't have any such plans, and I doubt the maintainer does either at
this late stage. And without pulling in the new upstream release, I don't
believe we get the new license, so it stays in non-free and we don't have
the packages built on most arches.

It's been like this for nine months, so let's just get it off the RC count,
and when the maintainer has time, the new version can go into unstable of
his own accord.

As suggested in -release, in order to cancel libclass-contract-perl removal, and
in order to reinject it into testing, I'm retitling this bug. See #404896 log

The license has been discussed on #debian-release, and it's my understanding
that the old license was also DFSG-compliant in intent (with the help of
some clarifications from upstream that had already happened).

So I'd say releasing it in main is still an option, *if* someone were
interested in a targetted fix and thought that would be a supportable
configuration.

So, it seems it's now processing a different command with the same
 issue: semodule.

This is what I currently see:
Locating modules
Calculating dependencies between modules
Ordering modules based on dependencies
Selecting modules based on installed packages
Loaded base policy
Loaded module inetd.pp
Loaded module finger.pp
Loaded module tcpd.pp
Loaded module remotelogin.pp
Loaded module telnet.pp
Loaded module sasl.pp
Loaded module gpg.pp
Loaded module pythonsupport.pp

 and an lsof shows:
semodule 18307 root3rW REG 253,0 0 33482
/etc/selinux/refpolicy-targeted/modules/semanage.trans.LOCK
semodule 18307 root4r REG 253,0 2210399 33741
/etc/selinux/refpolicy-targeted/modules/tmp/base.pp

 So I suppose it's base.pp being currently processed, but I can't tell
whether it's a harder file to process than the other as I don't have
 any time indication.

Upstream has closed this as 'wontfix' with the following reasoning:

--quote start--
600 pixels high is quite uncommon these days. You can move the dialog by
pressing Alt while clicking the left mouse button, such that the buttons
below will appear.
--quote end--

I will do the same in debian.

According to the secunia site (http://secunia.com/advisories/23528),
this problem has been fixed in SVN rev#3828, but cmd.php and copy_cacti_user.php
still exist in the same locations as before. I wonder why those two
files aren't moved out of the web-accessible directory upstream.

Well, it doesn't, unfortunately. First, I've to say that I don't have

The diff between the CVS snapshot and 0.5 is not that big. Actually, I
didn't want to wait for the release of 0.5 because we would have missed
etch.
I agree that having 0.5 would have been better for clarity, but
uploading a new source package for etch is now really to late, don't

2007-01-08 Thread John R. Gabriel
Tahkyou for your e-mail Brice. I don't exactly remember my report on the
X600, and have, since then gone back for the moent to running Fedora.
But I haven't given up on my efforts to move to Debian, was simply
ovetaken by events.
For the moment, I'm fully occupied by motion control problems - a
couple of years ago some sugery went slightly awry and I lost the sight
of one eye. Late in 2006 I was able to resume use of my small machine
shop, but automation is needed for 5 lathes, 3 mills (I have two already
automated one big (4 tons) and one small (70 #). When that is all done,
and I am selling N/C machines and upgrades on EBay, I expect to return
to etch (which I liked a good deal). Thankyou again for your e-mail, and
support. It means a good deal to know that I have friends.

So, in conclusion, please go ahead and close the bug. When I resume
work on Debian, I will revisit the question. I still have several Radeon
X600 video boards, and not being an avid gamer they will still be useful
later this year.

  Sincerely

  John Gabriel

Brice Goglin wrote:

Hi Gabriel,

About 7 month ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding a

I don't think a Radeon X600 board will ever be supported by
Xfree86/Sarge. But it should be very well supported by
xserver-xorg-video-ati in Etch. I don't think your specific pcie x16
slot should be a problem.

Did you by chance get to try Debian Etch on this machine? Lots of people
have a X600 working fine in Etch, while the problem will never be fixed
in Sarge. So, unless you still have this problem with Etch, I will close
this bug in the next weeks.

When the user's quota in /var/mail has been exceeded, qpoppper fails to
copy its temporary copy of the mailbox back into /var/mail. Sometimes
the mailbox ends up with just less than 10MB of NULs at the beginning.
The 10MB may be related to the users's quota (in this case the hard
quota was 10MB). This does not happen all the time but I have had a few

Well, I doubt it's worth at this stage to worry about which bug should
be RC or not. I think it's pretty clear the cryptsetup maintainer
should upload a fixed package with the two patches from SVN which I
sent to #403426 already. And the next upload of linux-2.6 will have
the fix for the 2nd item in your list.

This leaves the last problem (FUSE under load) which I think we can
leave for after etch.

> Bug#405968: utf8-migration-tool: cannot handle migration from @euro locales

Looking at the patch, this will parse any locale up to the first dot or
arobas it finds and use the part before that to deduct the locale, which
should successfully convert any locale to UTF-8.

The only exception I can think of is cases where the arobas points to a
useful variant. One example is Serbian: the default encoding is Cyrillic
but there is an @latin variant also. There, utf8migrationtool would make
the wrong assumption.

Can anybody think of any other exception case that must be processed?

Bug#405880: kde-guidance userconfig breaks login permissions

2007-01-08 Thread Fathi Boudra
severity 405880 important
retitle 405880 kde-guidance userconfig breaks login permissions
tags 405880 + patch

thanks

hi,

guidance reported bug, is a bug fixed in 0.6.3. i created a new user with
0.7.0 and permissions were set correctly. i was able to log into console
using the new user. Modestas Vainius suggests to change umask to reproduce
the bug. So umask 0066 breaks file creation, but it isn't guidance fault.
Current guidance (0.7.0) keep perms as they are. I wasn't able to reproduce it
until i changed my umask. i reduced severity to important as it isn't
completely guidance fault. Modestas provided a patch, submitted to upstream. i
expect to have a proper solution soon :)

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#379900: Same here

2007-01-08 Thread Enrico Zini
Hello,

quick note to say that the same happens with me, version 1.0.26-1 on a
plain etch installation.

I get the segfault when clicking on an entry in the 'Unread' "feed" to
read it, and it's quite annoying that after restarting liferea the entry
doesn't show in the Unread "feed" anymore and is lost until I go and dig
it from all the various feed one by one.

Ciao,

Enrico

Yeah, I can install iceweasel and see if the problem occurs again; if so,
I will do that and get back to you with the symbols.

Bug#406052: yada: Wrong encoding of Polish man pages

2007-01-08 Thread Robert Luberda

Hi,

Polish translations of yada(1) and packages(7) are encoded in UTF-8

Is a dialog asking for a PIN displayed on your computer? Have you installed
bluez-gnome? (it is meant to ask for a pin)

Hi Braun,

Sorry I thought I had sent this email a couple of months ago...

complete Hungarian translation (about 90%). Can you confirm this bug is
fixed and the bug can be closed, please ?

Thanks,

There already is something like that, though I've not yet used it myself
much, so there might still some bugs hidden in it.

Please try (don't be confused by it being "allow" while the manpage says
it's "accept", that is a bug in the manpage already fixed in CVS):

cat >conf/somename < this would make it much easier to implement a simple upload queue for

I'm currently working on a import command to make reprepro scan a
directory for changes and include them. As that has quite different
requirements than including from local files, its quite some
refactorisation of some code and will need some time before it is
finished. (Current CVS version seems to work, but it missing support
for tracking, and some more testcases (and most likely bugfixes) for
strange combinations or graciously coping with errors in dsc files.

Bug#406055: lilo doesn't update MBR with kernel 2.6.18

2007-01-08 Thread Santiago Romero

Package: lilo
Version: 22.6.1-9
Debian version: etch

I'm getting an error when executing "lilo" with 2.6.18-3-686 kernel.
The Master Boot Record is not updated and I get the following error:

Fatal: geo_query_dev HDIO_GETGEO (dev 0x6800): No such device or address

If I return to 2.6.17, lilo works fine with the same lilo.conf file.

 I'm not sure if it's a kernel problem or a lilo problem ... :-?

Bug#396636: Still having problems in 3.2.1-4

2007-01-08 Thread Giuseppe D'Angelo

found 396636 3.2.1-4
severity 396636 normal
thanks

The bug is still present in version 3.2.1-4, see the attached log; however
eclipse now does not crash, but it doesn't use the internal browser
because it cannot find the NS_InitXPCOM3 symbol.

Actually that symbol isn't defined in /usr/lib/xulrunner/libgtkembedmoz.so
but in /usr/lib/xulrunner/libxpcom.so. Why does the "eclipse" script
look for libgtkembedmoz.so? That is, Is eclipse opening the wrong library?

I'm not sure of the severity of this bug, so I'm setting it to normal.
Feel free to change it, of course.

I'm not sure why 32 MB wouldn't be enough anyway, as the radeon driver
only uses 8 MB by default.

Are there any other AGP settings there? If so, do their values match the

OK, but naturally it's difficult to pinpoint a bug that manifests itself that
sporadically.

Is it always the Subject field that misses the newline? Never the X-Spam-*
fields?

Is [warszawa] the entire contents of the original Subject field? Is it always
just the newline that disappears?

Actually, the only way I can see that this bug can happen, is if line 442:
*header=string_sprintf("%s\n", *header); were mysteriously skipped. If memory
allocation fails Exim panics and dies, which would cause the mail to be
deferred.

Bug#406056: linux-image-2.6.18-3-amd64: lpt printer not working (garbage printed)

2007-01-08 Thread Jacek Misiurewicz

Subject: linux-image-2.6.18-3-amd64: lpt printer not working (garbage printed)
Package: linux-image-2.6.18-3-amd64
Version: 2.6.18_7_amd64
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

Printer connected to parallel port prints garbage (or just
nothing: seberal blinks and stop, sometimes).

The same platform running 386 kernel (other distro: FC4) works fine.

Simple test: (as root) echo Hello World>/dev/lp0

The same platform running amd64 kernel in other Linux distro (PLD2.0)
fails in similar way - thus it is the general amd64 kernel (or kernel
configuration) problem.

Probably it is the kernel bug
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5832

because the syndroms and configuration are very similar.

From the above bugzilla.kernel bug report: in some distros the problem has
been apparently "solved" temporarily by changing the default installed
kernel config.

I'll post more if I find out. ;-)

Bug#405184: Still not working in 1.3.0-19

2007-01-08 Thread Nathan

Hi,

Please disregard my previous bug report. After more research and playing
with other peoples configs I realised version 1.3.0+ doesn't actually
look in /etc/proftpd/modules.conf unless directed to by the config file.
Please note that I did read the README.Debian & NEWS.Debian files which
mentioned the method had changed for module loading but it was not
explicit in that the file modules.conf is depreciated. In fact, it
mentions the file is used: "Starting from 1.3.0 version proftpd supports
DSO modules, which are loaded at run time consulting the Debian-specific
/etc/proftpd/modules.conf file." which threw me off entirely as it does
not go on to say that this is because of the line in the Debian
package's config file: "Include /etc/proftpd/modules.conf". Perhaps it
would be appropriate to mention something about this in the readme?

At the end of the day it's my fault for thinking I knew better than to
read the .deb packaged version of the config file (which is how I
eventually saw the fix). Sorry for any confusion and wasted time I may
have caused.

Nathan.

Bug#406059: start_daemon regression: spaces in args broken

2007-01-08 Thread Max Kellermann
Package: lsb-base
Version: 3.1-22
Severity: important

I believe bug #388836 is invalid and the workaround introduced in
3.1-18 is not only wrong, but introduces a "real" bug.

 PARAMS="--this --that --start-command 'hibernate -F hibernate.conf'"

[remark: I had to add double quotes around the value, because the
submitter used invalid shell syntax - I assume this is what he meant]

This just doesn't do what the submitter probably thinks it should.
You can't use bash quotes inside a string value. It's a string, you
can't nest quotes. The single quotes in the string are not being used
to quote strings, they're just printable characters that happen to
look like a single quote. There was no need to fix a bug because
there was none.

Let's talk about the new bug: spaces in parameters don't work at all
if you specify them correctly:

 start_daemon -- /usr/sbin/foobard --foo "one two three"

This should result in two parameters passed to /usr/sbin/foobard:
first one is "--foo" and the second one is "one two three". Instead,
start_daemon passes four parameters: "--foo", "one", "two", "tree".

Please see the attached test scripts and try running foo.sh. The
first invocation (directly, without start_daemon) is perfectly
correct, the second one (with start_daemon) breaks in every case.

Here's list of breakages caused by the "eval":

- whitespaces in parameters cause the values to be split
- can't use quotes in parameter values ("unexpected EOF while looking
  for matching `''")
- can't use dollars in parameter values
- empty paramers are dismissed
- any amount of any whitespace is replaced with a single space
- try backquotes! it's fun!
- probably a lot more breakages due to bash syntax conflicting with
  parameter values

Please remove the eval. It's evil.

Max

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg did not help at all. Manually installing the

Are you sure this is the case from all gnome programs? This is a known
problem with epiphany, and its cause is the lack of PDF support in
Xulrunner. However I can print to PDF fine in gedit, evolution, etc.

Bug#406060: tex4ht: oolatex ignores spaces and \centering (+ cannot handle list of figures/tables)

2007-01-08 Thread Michael Hanke
Package: tex4ht
Version: 20060913-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

oolatex seems to ignore things like \newspace and \vspace while it
considers \hspace. Additionally it ignores \centering in floating
figures/tables while \begin{center}\end{center} works. The is a little
inconvenient as \centering is the default in Kile's figure wizard.

While playing with floating figures I also discovered that oolatex
cannot handle \listoftables and \listoffigures while xhlatex can.
Sorry for mixing two possibly unrelated bugs into one report.

Above descriptions also apply to the latest upstream bugfix release
(20070107). The attached tex file should document this.

BTW: The speed of bufixing is really impressive!

Thanks,

Michael

396182
forcemerge 356584 396182

thanks

I merged all "Segfault on startup" bug reports on xemacs21(-mule) with
"Fatal error (11)." after "Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset".
Since the oldest of the original merge was 133607, I made this merging
around it.

Buy reading all these bug reports over 5 years, I could not find fix
yet. But reducing fonts seems to fix situation as of now. This is
pretty pathetic situation for basic package such as xemacs being so
fragile. It should at least should not segfaults and should produce
meaningful error message.

Following are my review of all these bugs.
---
I have the same xemacs crash issue here under en_US.UTF-8 locale for
xemacs21-mule 21.4.19-2 while my input method is SCIM via XIM and
freetype is used instead of xtt per debconf question default. Let me
recap basic segfault situation here:

 * Starting with "LANG=C xemacs" in X brings out X version OK.
 * Starting with "LANG=en_US xemacs" in X brings out X version OK.
 * Starting with "xemacs -nw" in X brings out no-X version OK.
 * Starting with "xemacs" in X segfaults. (See below log)
 * Starting with "xemacs -q" in X segfaults.
 * Starting with "LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 xemacs" in X segfaults too.
 * Starting with "xemacs" in Linux console brings out no-X version OK.

It seems problem happens when system is loaded with many fonts (my font
situation is listed below.) some of which may be causing some minor
troubles then xemacs exits with segfaults without useful messages.

Since this was reported repeatedly over 6 years without fix and many
reports come from DD, this is not so rare problem.

Since I am not having problem with gvim, this is not necessary a problem
which can be worked around nicely.

(emacs21 now fails to start nicely either but at least it does not
segfaults. See http://bugs.debian.org/405952 )

Although I am not inflating severity of this bug, since UTF-8 is now the
default for etch that prompt more fonts loaded by the Asian uses, this
kind of situation is very undesirable for release.

Since so many bug was filed on seemingly the same issue, let me
summarize them all here. I marked bug reports with "backtrace" and
listed bug submitter email address which were DD (CCed).

(Lines started with "| " are quotation.)

This is very old bug report from 28 Jan 2000.
 Package name then was xemacs21.
Possibly related to the rest of the "segfault on startup bug" reports.

 * http://bugs.debian.org/133607 locale=C and fi_FI
Missing required fonts for particular locale [EMAIL PROTECTED] was
 one cause.
"dangling symlinks to some truetype fonts" was identified as a
possible another cause of the segfault.

There is a suggestion to run "dpkg-reconfigure x-ttcidfont-conf" in this
thread. In my case, it caused following funny errors on my system.

| ...
| Can't exec "/usr/bin/mkcfm": No such file or directory at

Here line 791 is:
  system('/usr/bin/mkcfm', "$PkgDir/dirs/CID");

Hmmm... suspicious system inconsistency on my system.

I also switched to xtt from freetype, things did not change at all.

 * http://bugs.debian.org/160973 (backtrace)
 Quick fix suggested as:
| apt-get --purge remove 'xfonts*'; rm -f /usr/lib/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/* and
| then re-install of all xfonts seems to fix the problem.

I tried this as the last resort after everything else. Restarting X
seems to be fixed situation. See below for reduced fonts after this.

Right, maybe a better statement would be

"Starting from 1.3.0 version proftpd supports DSO modules, which are loaded at

Hi Olaf,

do you really mean woody and not sarge? Direct upgrades from woody to
etch aren't supported, so it's expected that some breakage happens in
this case. However, if we want to understand your issue, we need some
more information.
Can you send us the list of packages you had installed before the
upgrade? In case you didn't save it, you should be able to find backups
of the dpkg status database in /var/backups/.
If you saved a log of the session where you dist-upgraded, then that
would be useful as well. Otherwise, a description of what you did to
upgrade would help us.

Thanks,
Julien

Bug#406062: while playing a track, the favourite tracks pane is missing in the context sidebar

2007-01-08 Thread Bastian Venthur
Package: amarok
Version: 1.4.4-2
Severity: normal

The title says it all. While playing a track in amarok the context
sidebar shows the following panes:

 1) Title (album cover, musicbrainz logo)
 2) Similar Artists like foo
 3) Suggested Tracks
 4) Albums by foo

that's it. The Favourite tracks pane is missing.

Rightclicking on the context sidebar I get the following contextmenu:

 [x] Show similar artists
 [x] Show suggested songs
 [x] Show favourite tracks <---

Note how the third the last checkbox is enabled.

I'm using the german version of amarok and translated the menus into
English. I hope it's still understandable.

Cheers,

Bastian

I ran into this as well today after trying to install openoffice.org
(which pulled in some fonts). However, upgrading fontconfig to the
current etch version 2.4.1-2 from my old 2.3.2-5.1 version solved the
problem. Hence I think that this upgrade can be considered a fix for
this bug.

Note that before I had not run into this problem, and the only
font-related package that was installed due to OoO was ttf-opensymbol.
Of course, it's entirely possible that between the last use of
fontconfig and today some other package had been upgraded that triggered
this bug; but the solution for me at least is 2.4.1-2.

For completeness, these were installed / upgraded first when I installed

I see, maybe I should wait for 2.6.19 appearing in Sid. ;)

Strange, beacuse I'm running the actual package which is available in Sid.

When I click on "Read", I get a dialog box "Question" saying:

  Faster medium initialization

Searching rewriteable media for error correction data may take a
long time. Press "Skip RS02 test" if you are certain that this
medium was not augmented with RS02 error correction data.

Here are the contents of the "View log" window:

The problem was once fixed definitely but there is another
(much more critical) bug on X server,
cf. http://lists.debian.org/debian-alpha/2006/06/msg4.html
so now I have not run X recently on alpha machine.

I can't say anything more than this, sorry.

Bug#391867: "port is slow to respond" on computer with SATA disk

2007-01-08 Thread oscar
Hullo

I am having the same problem.

I built a kernel from the sources here:
http://people.debian.org/~nobse/kernel/linux-2.6/i386/

The problem is less severe but still a showstopper for production use. I
too am looking forward to getting this fixed.

When I user dd to fill one of the partitions I still triggered the
error. I was able to fill disk without errors once.
Then when I was removing the test file it triggered. It's a 10GB file.

Only FYI. As far as I know, gsfonts-wadalab-* are created so that gs
can handle Japanese without non-free components (ie gs-cjk-resource
and/or cmap-adobe-*).

Bug#356584: correction

2007-01-08 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

When I wrote previous bug report, I forgot to update 2 lines.

I initially thougt changing fontpath name suggested by
http://bugs.debian.org/303103 fixes these bugs but it did not. Instead
reducing installed fonts fixed it.

Considering this, the following 2 lines from the previous report:

(I will keep these 2 bunches of bugs separate but I will close both
bunch with attached patch.)

should be replaced by

(I will keep these 2 bunches of bugs separate so they can be closed
separastely or together by the maintainer.)

Bug#326735: knode crash

2007-01-08 Thread Bastian Venthur
I've just tested it in- and outside of Kontact and was not able to
reproduce this bug anymore. Looks like this bug has vanished.

But please note that I'm not using KNode (KMail and the whole Kontact
bunch) anymore for a long time due other open grave bugs, so I cannot
say if this bug really has vanished.

Cheers,

Bastian

Ok, it does (thanks for the hint):

So there's a version mismatch between libgl1-mesa-dri (i915_dri) and
libgl1-mesa-glx/fglrx-driver (libGL) [both packages contain i915_dri.so,
both are installed]
