Date: 24 3 2004 Method: From the CD, the 100Mb image of beta 3 Machine: Clone homebuilt Processor: K6-2 350 Memory: 128 Root Device: IDE 2 disks. Root Size/partition table: Had to forget LVM as the installer was unable to create it. manually partitioned finally. Output of lspci: ALi M1541, M7101, M1533, M5229, Realtek RTL 8139c, 3dfx voodoo banshee. Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked:[ O ] Configure network HW: [ O ] Config network: [ O ] Detect CD: [ O ] Load installer modules: [ O ] Detect hard drives: [ O ] Partition hard drives: [ E ] Create file systems:[ E ] Mount partitions: [ O ] Install base system:[ O ] Install boot loader:[ O ] Reboot: [ O ] [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Comments/Problems: E = LVM partitioner is seriously bugged. I had segfaults on the 3rd console. never managed to create a LVM. Also strange that after the reboot, 'K6' was no longer a valid hostname, The message explains that it must be alphanum and minimum 2 char SO what is the problem ??? Why not include a choice : What version of debian do you want to install , Stable - Unstable - Testing ? Also that installer still feels 15 years old. remembers me my first 286... Welcome to linux...
