Bug#239926: install report

2004-03-24 Thread mc
Package: installation-reports

Debian-installer-version: beta 3
uname -a: Linux K6 2.4.25-1-386 etc...
Date: 24 3 2004
Method: From the CD, the 100Mb image of beta 3

Machine: Clone homebuilt
Processor: K6-2 350
Memory: 128
Root Device: IDE 2 disks.
Root Size/partition table: Had to forget LVM as the installer was unable to create it.
manually partitioned finally.
Output of lspci:

ALi M1541, M7101, M1533, M5229, Realtek RTL 8139c, 3dfx voodoo banshee.

Base System Installation Checklist:

Initial boot worked:[ O ]
Configure network HW: [ O ]
Config network: [ O ]
Detect CD: [ O ]
Load installer modules: [ O ]
Detect hard drives: [ O ]
Partition hard drives: [ E ]
Create file systems:[ E ]
Mount partitions: [ O ]
Install base system:[ O ]
Install boot loader:[ O ]
Reboot: [ O ]
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Comments/Problems:

E = LVM partitioner is seriously bugged.
I had segfaults on the 3rd console. never managed to create a LVM.

Also strange that after the reboot, 'K6' was no longer a valid hostname,
The message explains that it must be alphanum and minimum 2 char SO what is the
problem ???

Why not include a choice : What version of debian do you want to install , Stable -
Unstable - Testing ?

Also that installer still feels 15 years old. remembers me my first 286... Welcome to
linux...

Sorry for the Approxenglish.
