The last one I tested was Beta 2 of the install CD. My suggestion is not just booting only on a keypress, but booting in the normal BIOS boot order (i.e. normally hda, hdb, hdc, ...) if NO key is pressed. The installer asks the password for root and optionally the password for the normal user account. These passwords are saved in /etc/shadow. However, they are NOT encrypted with MD5 (i.e. strings beginning with $1$ in /etc/shadow), but with DES. Hi Joey, This begs the question of how you ran it, if you didn't bother to look for a device node (which would be in devfs syntax, so not /dev/hda). IIRC, cfdisk has to be told the device to run on, you must have told it something or it would have given you a usage message. Sorry, I'm not quite familiar with the DevFS syntax.
