Er, dpkg has a package used by d-i? If you're talking about debootstrap,
that's not d-i.

This automatic email sucks.

We've done it correctly. dpkg 1.10 predepends on dselect. dselect 1.10
replaces dpkg (<< 1.10). This will ensure upgrades, and no loss of
functionality.

I assume this is what you were talking about dselect.

I'll be sending an announcment about how this serial console install was
accomplished this weekend.

devfs support should be removed, in my opinion. There is still continuing
talk of removing it from the kernel, as distributors(us and the other guys)
have failed to support it.

I assume you mean 1.9.2.

I see the segfault. It's stack corruption. I'll look at it more later
tonight, after I compile a debug version.

I can't duplicate this. The only suites avaiable to 0.1.7 are slink, potato,
and woody. There is no sid.

yes, I saw that I could do that, before I hit send on the mail, but sometimes
my fingers do their own thing, and send mails anyways.

To address the problem, dpkg 1.9.4, which was just recently installed, allows
debootstrap to run all the way thru, without having to call dpkg in a loop,
because of segfaults.

Here's to hoping dpkg is finally fixed.

As someone who is not part of this project, you have no foundation to stand
on. I have seen nothing from Joey that can be taken like this. Seems like
someone has an agenda that they are trying to push. Either that, or this is
just pure FUD.

Again, Joey never said he wouldn't fix the bug. It just wasn't high priority.
The social contract never states we will fix all bugs the instance BEFORE they
are filed, because we CARE about our users that much.

Joey is on a modem. Again, he never insisted. More FUD.

No, he has demonstrated a complete and total UNWILLINGNESS to have ANYTHING to
do with you.

You are not a maintainer. Do not start preaching to those who are, like you
are their saviour and god.

Sorry, can't do that. You applied patches, with the understanding that they
would be under the same license of that which you were patching.

Bug#138468: kaffe: compile problems on some sparcs

2002-04-06 Thread Adam Heath

tag 138468 + help
thanks

I've looked at this, and kaffe seems to be including several asm/ headers.
It's this that is causing the problems.

I've not yet tried removing these inclusions, and am not certain what kaffe is
expecting to find therein, that it can't find in normal headers.

please symlink base#_#.tgz

2000-10-17 Thread Adam Heath

package: ftp.debian.org

I'd like to see a symlink base.tgz -> base#_#.tgz, in all disks-/, in
all dists. This would make it easier to download, without having to know
ahead of time what the numbers will be.

Also, since boot-floppies have been removed from woody(because of Joey's
modular installer), this doesn't affect woody, but only previous
distributions.

For the boot-floppies team: Any future bf scripts, in addition to having a
version number embedded inside a filename, could we have a symlink without the
version number in it?

btw, this little symlink is needed so that I can patch buildd-setup-chroot, so
that it no longer needs a local mirror copy(it does glob, which doesn't work
remotely over http).

Fyi, apt is perfectly capable of doing this.

This is from my apt-get based baseX_X.tgz builder. It's not quite ready
