Bug#1028400: Debian-installer 11.6 not saving static network configuration after DHCP

2023-01-10 Thread Fabio Maione
Package: debian-installer
Version: 0210731+deb11u7+b1

Hello, during "Graphics install" you will reach the network configurations
dialogs. After DHCP assignment, at the "hostname" dialog you can go back and
choose to configure network manually.

If you set a static address, the configuration will not be saved in the
'/etc/network/interfaces' file on the target system.
In other words, after setting a manual ip address during install, at reboot
upon installation completion, you will not find the static address in the
'/etc/network/interfaces' file on the newly installed system. It happens with
debian-11.6.0-amd64-netinst.iso

Thank you

I tried it (letting DHCP succeed but then got back and
configure statically) and I did get the static configuration in
/etc/network/interfaces. So it seems we can't reproduce the issue,
perhaps there are more details that make it fail in your case, that you
need to determine.
