I don't see how you can "use it for installation" otherwise. Thanks for the idea, I think it might solve my problem. I use "make bindeb-pkg" in the vanilla kernel tree regulary and in the past I used also something like "dpkg-buildpackage -b -rfakeroot" in the debian kernel source package. > I don't see how you can "use it for installation" otherwise. Boot the kernel via tftp (and give the installer ramdisk, as mentioned in an earlier email) is the option I use most of the times - as for building the linux-image*deb, there are other ways. YMMV.
