Not using console-setup is much faster and the so called "normal"-fonts are used. Maybe console-setup is changing that behavior But! When "normal"-fonts are set on TTY 2-6 by systemD and finishes kernel is not ready. Maybe some grace period because of checking fat partitions on slow USB-sticks? And so, TTY1 gets a change in using console-setup. Bug#817174: D-I: installer hangs on re-formatting ext2 partition

I haven't stumbled over this problem myself because I was never using a separate /boot partition formatted with ext2 but I just used one ext4 root filesystem which worked just fine with SILO. It would make sense to display all possible IP addresses to connect to the installer environment. This change is not that simple because it requires debconf template modifications to provide an enumerated list of IP addresses. Hence reducing the severity of this bug to address this requirement in future. Thanks and kind regards, Hendrik

Install error - Debian 8.3.0-i386 - netinst.iso
Dear Support Team, During the installation process I got a partition creation error and could not re boot the computer. The errror appeared during the formatting of the empty partition to create the Linux working space and could not continue. Then exited the installation program (Graphical expert interface) and when turning the computer on again, HDD led kept on and BIOS could not recognize the HDD any more (it showed empty SATA socket where it usually showed HDD model). Could not re boot the computer again with that HDD. - Boot device: USB stick (formated with Pendrivelinux, option Debian Netinst, version downloaded yesterday) - Image: http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/8.3.0/i386/iso-cd/debian-8.3.0-i386-netinst.iso - HDD: 500GB with 4 partitions. 3 of them formatted with Win XP SP3 (one bootable). The other empty, non formatted. - CPU: Intel i5 - RAM: 4GB - MotherBoard: ASUS P7P55D-LE Thank you in advance for your help, Diego

Bug#817259: reopen 817259
reopen 817259 I am reopening this bug, because in the meanwhile I read the check instructions given in https://www.debian.org/CD/faq/index.en.html#verify and following the first method suggested (dd command with parameters given by isosize) I could determine that the checksums (md5 and sha1) of all the 3 DVDs are ok. Also the file by file check against the md5sum.txt was ok. I repeated the installation -in expert mode- with different choices for the architecture and/or desktop, but got the same problem. I then tried the installation based only on 1st DVD (3.16.0-4-586+KDE), which went on and concluded without problems, and looks to be working properly. Now, when I try to load some additional applications from DVD2 or 3, I get some "strange" error messages of the type "package .. is already installed and configured", although the procedure looks then to conclude successfully. No idea of where the problem comes from. Thanks for the attention Giuliano Cabrele
