Bug#782145: jessie failing on xenserver netboot

I believe the problem is that initrd.gz doesn't contain necessary kernel modules for xvd? disks (xenserver virtual disk, eg. xvda), so this disk is not recognized during installation and failing partitioning. I think the missing one is xen-blk This might be relevant, if not duplicate: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=637784

I'm not sure why but I don't seem to have received a copy of https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=753442#80… anyway what the commit message says, the bug reference, and the change itself look like a good thing to have in stable, so I'll double check and try to have that in the next point release. The plan for jessie (yes I know it's late) is to mount and fsck the root and (if separate) /usr filesystems from initramfs code, before handing over to the real init system. e2fsck complains if the superblock write time is in the future, and because the RTC is set to local time on some systems, we are doing the necessary correction of system time in the initramfs. This is undesirable because changing the time zone may now require an initramfs rebuild. You said that this check could be disabled in a configuration file, e2fsck.conf, and we can create that in the initramfs. This works in so far as it suppresses warnings while the initramfs code is running. Unfortunately, every init system currently still checks the root file-system again. If the RTC is set to local time and that is east of UTC, the first fsck sets the write time in the future, and the second fsck warns. Please disable this warning by default. Support for the > IXP4xx platform will probably be dropped completely in Debian 9." Delete 'probably'; the kernel flavour has been removed in experimental and it's not coming back. Also, the mv78xx0 kernel flavour has been removed in jessie. It was only provided to support our own build machines that have now been retired. Yeah, that looks fishy. Not sure whether there's something getting confused because of eth0 vs. wlan0, and/or because of the IPv6 configuration (see the bug that's getting fixed for D-I Jessie RC3)… With a little luck I'll stumble upon something similar while testing wireless things in the upcoming days.
