Recent entries of apt's changelog contains bits about cdrom-related
regressions. Might be worth investigating as a (not so) wild guess.

I think I already stumbled upon this bug report and I'm fine with the
current status (wontfix).

Hi,

Would you be kind enough to add a db entry for the A20-OLinuXino-LIME?
Support for it will come in 3.17, and it might even be backported to
3.16 in time for Jessie (see #764967).

Regards,
Christian

Bug#765090: installation-report: UEFI boot fails after install

2014-10-13 Thread Ramiro B. da Luz
Package: installation-reports
Followup-For: Bug #714470

Dear Maintainer,

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot: [O]
Detect network card:[O]- With non-free firmware pendrive
Configure network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [O]
Partition hard drives: [O]
Install base system:[O]
Clock/timezone setup: [O]
User/password setup:[O]
Install tasks: [O]
Install boot loader:[E]
Overall install:[E]

Comments/Problems:

The problem is with EFI. The partition table is MBR and the installer ran
as EFI (the title above the install options menu says Debian EFI
installer). Then at the end I have a grub rescue mode prompt. It also
happened with the Jessie installer, I can't remember but I think it was
with the alpha1. The solution I found was to open a shell after the
grub-efi installation, then:

# chroot /target
# aptitude

Removed the grub-efi related packages and installed grub2 packages.

# grub-install /dev/sda
# update-grub

After that I did a dist-upgrade to jessie. I am sending this report from
another machine. Here the installer worked changing the BIOS configuration
to legacy. This is why you will see two machine reports, one is from my
laptop, the other was generated by reportbug.

It is possible to read my laptop manual with specifications here [1].

Thanks for all your work.

base-installer: FTBFS?

2014-10-13 Thread Christian PERRIER
Just for the record, an attempt to build base-installer this morning
failed on my build machine.

I didn't send a bug report yet as I have a small doubt this could be
caused by a local problem. I'll try anyway to reproduce the build in
the upcomign days and will eventually file a BR in case the build
failure is reproducible.

(the failure happened during the "make test" phase: sorry no build logs
handy right now)

Builds fine on both wheezy and sid here. Maybe your pdebuild thing
acting up again?

On the other hand, reassigning bug reports to packages without putting
their maintainers in Cc is very much not reasonable.

well to be honest the whole blend story came as a surprise.

I think we identified quite early in the release cycle that we would
need to finally do something about the desktop situation (which first
landed in D-I Jessie Beta 2).

Blends were first mentioned during a DC'14 talk in late August. At the
moment my personal feeling about this is that it looks a bit late, and
I'm almost certainly not going to drive such changes myself. I don't
have any strong incentive to prevent other people from working on this
though. (Of course, any work should happen sooner than later.)

Of course, if blends support ends up not being merged for Jessie, I'm
very sorry for people having participated in the discussion and their
false hope. :(

Mraw,
KiBi.
