Testing this with a daily build i386 netinst CD from 20140311 on my Thinkpad T60: everything works fine here, cursor is moving and buttons are also working. evdev is loaded, but synaptics is not (of course). As it has worked fine on this machine all the time since introducing the graphical installer with X.Org (Great work Kibi BTW :-) ) Just double- checked with a 7.1 netinst CD. Bug#738945: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#738945: task-xfce-desktop: Hibernate doesn't work out of the box
Hi everybody, Ok, I was't informed, that hibernating should work without uswsusp. So I removed uswsusp again, for bug-hunting. I did try as suggested: - logout button, then hibernate - pm-hibernate (as root) - echo disk > /sys/power/state (as root) All of the above have the same effect: The screen goes black, after some seconds, the computer switches off. When switching it on again, It boots normally instead of returning to the hibernated state. So this bug is indeed not related to Xfce. For me personally, the problem is solved, as I am fine with uswsusp. But if it may benefit other users, I'm willing to cooperate in hunting it down further. As to my hardware: Its a Dell inspiron 1525 Notebook. To provide more information, below is the output from lspci. I have the non-free module iwl3945 installed for wifi, but rmmod iwl3945 iwl_legacy mac80211 cfg80211 before hibernating doesn't change anything. no video after install
I have a Power Mac G5 with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB DDR SDRAM. The G5 also has 3GB of DRAM, an 80 GB disk in slot A, and a 500 GB disk in slot B. The big disk has MacOSX 10.5.8, which works fine. I installed Debian 7.4 on the smaller disk, using a netinst CD. The installation seemed to work fine, but when I booted Linux, my monitor (a Sony Multiscan 420GS) put up an error alert saying the input scan rate was out of range, on an otherwise blank screen. I tried another monitor, which displayed nothing. I repeated the installation, using “install video=ofonly”, with the same result. I would appreciate advice on how to debug this problem. TIA. So, in short, for once, I can help investigating it...:-) signature.asc Description: Digital signature

There has been a thread for a similar problem recently[1]. > I would appreciate advice on how to debug this problem. TIA. Try booting with the "video=TV-1:d" kernel parameter. If that does not help, boot with "nomodeset". If the checksum fails for a package one does not need, just avoid using that package or update it from the Internet rather than the CD later. The point is cdrom-checker does not tell the user it gave up on checking packages on the CD. It immediately asks whether there are additional CDs to check. So cdrom-checker should either check the entire CD and provide a list of MD5 errors and the packages affected _or_ report to the user that the CD appears to be bad and should not be used. Cdrom-checker quietly requesting to check another CD does not sufficiently provide enough feedback on the MD5 checksum error (the user may legitimately assume the error found is the only one on the CD and use it as is). Have a good day. Sincerely, Ken Fuchs
