This is, what was meant:

"Linus Torvalds continues to coordinate the work of several hundred
developers with the help of a number of subsystem maintainers. There is an
  official website for the Linux
- kernel. More information about the linux-kernel

I will commit this, if noone objects.

From syslog, it might be some network issues while downloading Packages

Package: busybox
Version: 1:1.17.1-8
Severity: important

Example file -- http://www.cpan.org/src/5.0/perl-5.16.1.tar.bz2
Regular bunzip2 decompresses it okay, busybox gives this:

 $ busybox bzip2 -t perl-5.16.1.tar.bz2
 bzip2: bunzip error -5

Filing this under squeeze version number, -- this is an old bug
which is still present in 1.20 version. I dunno when it started.

The bug is at least important, since it is bad when an archiver
can't decompress some "random" archive, and other stuff start
breaking due to this.

It so happened that this file has a run which exactly fills

it has to be ">".

Bug#736791: installation-guide: please re-activate build for hppa architecture

2014-01-26 Thread Helge Deller
Package: installation-guide
Severity: normal
Version: 20131009

Dear Installation-guide maintainers,

I and a collegue currently work on getting the hppa architecture in a good
shape again in debian.
We have done great progress, which means that more than 80% of debian unstable
packages are now available
up-to-date for hppa. That's even more than what other architectures like mk68k,
sh4 or sparc.
You can see our progress in this graph: http://buildd.debian-ports.org/stats/
hppa is the magenta line.
We currently have 7 hppa-buildd-servers running (on 4 physical machines) as you
can see here:
http://unstable.buildd.net/index-hppa.html

Next step for me was to try to create a installation-cd.
For that I used debian-cd, but failed because the package
"installation-guide-hppa" is missing in the
repositories. You can see the error message of debian-cd below.

So, can you please reactive the build for the hppa architecture so that I can
proceed with an installation image?
It seems it is sufficient to
- uncomment "hppa" in the debian/archlist file, and
- uncomment the " installation-guide-hppa" section in the debian/control file.

It would be really great if you can reactivate it soon.
Of course I will send further patches to the installation-guide package as
needed.

THANKS !!
Helge

BTW, here is the error I get when using debian-cd to create a installation
image:
...
/usr/share/debian-cd/tools/make_disc_trees.pl /usr/share/debian-cd
/mnt/DATA/debian-ports-mirror /mnt/DATA/tempdir sid "hppa" "genisoimage" "-r

-jigdo-exclude 'Release*' -jigdo-exclude 'Packages*' -jigdo-exclude 'Sources*'
-jigdo-force-md5 /pool/"

Well, you don't strictly have to wait for the installation guide package
to be able to build CD images: you can set OMIT_MANUAL to 1.

I'm quite undecided about reintroducing the package in the main archive
while hppa is not likely to be released with Jessie.

As far as I can see, we have MD5Sum, SHA1, and SHA256 for all of
oldstable, stable, and testing. I've therefore modified the code to
support an unconditional loop over those 3 values, which you can review
in the git repository (multi-checksums branch).

I've performed some tests, building wheezy and jessie d-i images, using
debian-installer/allow_unauthenticated=true, and messing with the
Release files. A modified SHA1 wouldn't be noted with pristine d-i
images, but would with the patched net-retriever, so I think it's at
least basically working.

Of course I'm happy to have more eyes on the diffs (which I tried to
make as incremental as possible after having first written a big, fat
patch).

If for some reason (deprecated checksums, or additional checksums) the
loop needs to be made conditional, that's probably easily done (e.g. by
skipping the sed | foo loop if grep "^$checksumtype:\$" returns
nothing). It might be a good idea to add a pointer to net-retriever in
whatever part(s) of dak's code and/or configuration that are related,
so that FTP folks file a bug when changes happen.

Thanks for your time.

KiBi.
