Detect and mount CD-ROM
Hi, during installation of debian testing from an USB stick or a CD-ROM, the installation stops at "Detect and mount CD-ROM" and it asks "Load CD-ROM drivers from removable media?". I don't have this issue with installation of Wheezy! How can I solve this problem? Regards, -- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". debian-7.1.0-i386-netinst included installer can not detect network hardware
Dear core developers, I Am very happy, when i have found out, that thanks to MR Samuel Tibault, there is possibility to have speech support while using debian-7.1.0-i386-netinst and integrated installer. I do not know, why, but i AM helpless to install Debian system because The process of detecting network hardware can not be completed successfully. The progress bar stay at the 95 percent. I Am using IBM Thinkpad model 2668 It is very sad, because i Am sure, that Linux kernel is containing The driver for The integrated Broadcomm Extreme Ethernet Network chip. Do You think, that i could help The developers to track The reason, why network hardware can not be auto detected successfully? Because i Am visually impaired, i have used The s character at The Isolinux boot screen followed by pressing Enter key to install The system with speech support. I can send You some log information, but tell me The procedure, to help You to find The cause of The network cart issue. Because Espeakup and Speakup is cooperating so nicely with Linux kernel and ALSA sound server and with Espeak synthesizer, i can use one of The free virtual console to type The necessary commands. Or i must use more modern computer and do not try to install Debian Wheezi on my IBM Thinkpad model? I would never intrude You, but i Am not able to force GTK and other accessibility related libraries to install Debian live by using included Debian live installer. Debian Squeeze can not be installed because of complex C language library call related issues, so when killing GDM3, login as root, typing startx Using Orca with Orca setup questions completed, Debian Squeeze GTK based installer can not be used. It is very interesting to use gnome-terminal with Orca, logged as root and try to run Debian Installer in The Debian Squeeze live project. The list of library related issues, .so files and C language rleated information is really outstanding. But how to debug and help C developers to fix those issues? Thank You very much for Yours help. Those network devices require non free firmware to operate, which is not included in the debian installer. You can either provide it on a usb key or use the unofficial installer that includes firmware. This should be documented in the installation guide. -- Len Sorensen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#715408: Error in Testing installier
Package: debian-installer severity: critical Downloaded and tested images: 1) debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso from 2013-07-01 2) firmware-testing-amd64-netinst.iso from 2013-07-08 downloaded from http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-cd/ and http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-dvd/ Problem: After burning and starting, I can select from the first menu. I try textbased, grafical and expert install. Every time I just can hit enter, the dialog for choosing language appears - then the system is frozen. Only restartable with hardware button. This is not true for most Broadcom Netxtreme controllers supported by the tg3 driver, and certainly not for the chip in this machine (BCM5751M). You may be thinking of the Broadcom Netxtreme II and IIx controllers supported by the bnx2 and bnx2x drivers. Those are mostly found in servers.
