Installer freezes at 50% during "Analyze disks" step. Last messages
showing on screen when hitting Ctrl-Alt-F4 are:

partman: no matching physical volumes found
partman: reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
partman: no volume groups found
partman-lvm: No volume groups found

I have tried to remove and switch back breifly the USB drive when the
installer freezes, as suggested by similar bug reports, without any
success.

The same bug happens when trying to install

It might make more sense for this to be included in the d-i errata
instead of the release notes?

I think so, especially since that looks fixable for r1. Just committed:

Bug#706571: kernel-wedge: Remove explicit field exporting rules

2013-05-01 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: kernel-wedge
Version: 2.85
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi!

kernel-wedge generates .udeb:s with XC-Package-Type and
XB-Kernel-Version fields, but the explicit field exporting rules are
not needed any more as dpkg-dev supports these fields since 2007.

Attached a patch fixing this.

Thanks,
Guillem

Comments/Problems:

The installation process worked flawlessly. Installation
was done using a network mirror; network connectivity was
provided via a TP-Link TL-WN727N 802.11n WLAN dongle
(USB ID: 148f:5370, Ralink RT5370 chipset).

The installer prompted for the WLAN dongle's firmware, which was
provided on a USB stick (downloaded from
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/firmware/wheezy/current/).

Basic X11 functionality worked out of the box, advanced X11
features (in particular XVideo support) required installation of
the non-free radeon firmware from the package firmware-linux-nonfree.

A sidenote: while the WLAN via the TL-WN727N generally works,
interactive use (in particular using logins via ssh) shows that
the connection often has short lags or hangs. This happens even
when the WLAN dongle is within 2m of the access point with direct
line of sight.

Regards,
Karsten
