I didn't think that there was still time for fixes for RC1. Uploaded now.

Well, Cyril is the one with the last word on all this, so he may want
to not hold the release and therefore keep this for RC2.

I'm also Cc:'ing DSA:

Isn't that the old build log? From when the last build happened, i.e.
no error?

i needed to shut down some hardware at our hosting MAN-DA due to an
error in the air conditioning, to prevent the room from overheating.

I will investigate, why it did not come back properly.

Your bugreport mentioned "CD Binary-1" but that is something else.

Bug#698103: debian-installer-7.0-netboot-kfreebsd-amd64: cannot boot on system with 128MB RAM

2013-01-13 Thread Michael Tsang
Package: debian-installer-7.0-netboot-kfreebsd-amd64
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I got http://opensource.nchc.org.tw/debian/dists/wheezy/main/installer-
kfreebsd-amd64/current/images/netboot-9/mini.iso and tried to boot it in a
VirtualBox VM with 128 MB RAM and it does not load. When I increased it to 256
MB, it booted. Debian should not need so much RAM to boot.

Bug#698105: Please remove pcmciautils from laptop task

2013-01-13 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: tasksel
Version: 3.14
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

PCMCIA is so uncommon nowadays that installing pcmciautils on every laptop
by default is imho no longer warranted. I would thus like to see it removed
from task-laptop, similar to apmd.
PCMCIA has been a technology which was relevant in the 1990s and has
been superseded by e.g. ExpressCard for over 10 years.

I've CCed Colin, the pcmciautils maintainer, for his input.

Cheers,
Michael

Hmmm, I suspect both Cyril and I are expecting the other one to do the

Cyril, any objection if I upload this one?

You're right.I overread the "OLD BUILD" part that doesn't mention a
failed build but a failure to have a recent one.

zobel gave the right explanation, that's fine. Thanks for your help

That seems fair, though I think it's a bit late for this to happen wrt
the release.

I was about to do the removal when partly cleaning out tasks at
DebConf 11, then finally I remained conservative.

We still have questions about enabling PCMCIA in the installer, by the
way (fortunately at low priority level).

Yes; and I agree with this goal. I recently did some testing to make
it work with only 128 MiB RAM. The necessary change (#696786) is
pending in debian-installer Git for now.
