When I increased it to 256 MB, it booted. Debian should not need so much RAM to boot. That seems fair, though I think it's a bit late for this to happen wrt the release. I was about to do the removal when partly cleaning out tasks at DebConf 11, then finally I remained conservative. The necessary change (#696786) is pending in debian-installer Git for now.
