Bug#619236: [Cbe-oss-dev] Bug#619236: installation-reports: installation works fine on PS3 now, but we still can't boot after the installation

The idea is to have d-i to install this kboot-utils package when machine==PS3, and let the postinst script of the package generate the kboot.conf for us, but I haven't got that far yet. The main concern is about how to detect the actual device the rootfs is going to be on, right now I am doing: LINUX_ROOT_DEVICE="$(mount | grep ' / ' | cut -d ' ' -f 1)" and my current understanding is that this is going to work even from the installer because d-i would be calling apt in a "chroot /target" context when installing the kboot-utils package, but I'd like to have some confirmation about that. And a review about the state of the package will be appreciated too. Bug#622839: Debian installer fails at step "install base system" with claim that no suitable kernels can be found
Quoting Alex Roper (al...@ugcs.caltech.edu): > http://ftp.acc.umu.se/debian-cd/6.0.1a/amd64/iso-cd/debian-6.0.1a-amd64-netinst.iso > > When it detected and mounted the cdrom, it was labeled "squeeze". But > since it's a netinst I was using it to install wheezy when it came time > to choose a distro. It just can't work as, because this is a netinst CD, it uses what's on the CD for the base system. To install wheezey, it is much more recommended to use the D-I daily builds. You can probably use some squeeze CDs but not netinst ones. I think it should work with netboot or businesscard. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#566497: Please support reusing existing crypt-lvm partitions
Package: debian-installer Version: 6.0.1a Severity: normal many thanks for debian-installer! i wanted to set up multiple version of debian on an existing LVM volume group on an existing encrypted partition, but unfortunately debian-installer didn't seem to support re-using an already existing encrypted partition. maybe i could manually fiddle around and make sure the encrypted volume and LVM volume group was activated before the disk partitioning kicks in, but i couldn't figure that out. i could manually install with debootstrap and such, but that's no fun. live well, vagrant -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I came across the following bug and exctly the same I am facing, this is fixed (as mentioned in the bug itself) in udev_153-1 , but I can not find source of the package nor any binary package. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=607772 I would appreciate if I can get source repository where I can take source of this package (udev_153-1). I would build it from source ... Thanks for the pointers. --RR

Well, it's an often asked feature. What we needis someone digging up in partman-crypto and implementing this..:-) Reassigning this bug report ((even of old) to partman-crypto and merging. Please note that #451535 points to a method which has been reported to be working. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
