This probably requires a bug rewrite to include a state machine
somewhere.

As of now, I don't really see this happening soon unless someone jumps
in the code the way Matt Palmer recently did for a few months. It will
probably remain a wishlist for quite some time.

Apart from the multiple interfaces part, I see no connection between
your suggestion and the wishlist feature we're talking about..:-)

Have you tried recent changes in netcfg? The daily built images now
include several changes related to link detection.

Please use the daily built *netboot* images to have this working.

Bug#597223: udev: The First partition on USB flashdrives always attempts to be mounted as ISOFS

2011-04-12 Thread anderson . bugreport

The problem seems to be that if the usb-device (hdd, cardreader, etc.) is
plugged in while resp. before booting debian gets 'confused' about the
device(s).

I am able to reproduce the problem:
USB HDD plugged in while booting : "UDF-fs: No VRS found", as mentioned
in this bugreport.
USB HDD plugged out while booting an plugged in after the desktop is up,
the HDD gets automounted as it should

It is the same like with a cardreader:
I have a cardreader connected to the mainboard usb-pins (stationary) -
when inerting cards, I get the "UDF-fs: No VRS found". I have another
cardreader (mobile) - when I plug in the card AFTER I plugged in the
cardReader to a usb port I got the VRS-Message; when I plug in the card
into the cardReader BERFORE, the card gets mounted as it should.

debian OS last update 11.04.2011

If you need some more details, pls let me know.

Cheers,
Anderson

Any interest? UK Building Industry List 160,236 Records (Updated 2011)

2011-04-12 Thread Sarah W.

Good afternoon,

I sent this message to you some time ago but received no
response. Did it reach you? Please let me know should you be
interested.

I have compiled a list of 160,236 UK builders,
contractors, architects, interior designers, developers and
related professionals. This is a great market for various
products/services.

The list is the result of several years’ hard work, last
update - February 2011.

Fields: company name, full address (ready for mail merge),
phone, fax, email address, website address, contact name, trade.

The list can be produced in any common format, such as Excel,
CSV data file etc. Just let me know which one you would prefer.
This can be used it for direct mailing, email campaigns, cold
calling etc.

The list includes practically everyone ranging from professional
designers to decision makers of large corporations.

If you want to proceed and expand your business, I could share
the list with you for a fee of £250. For your information I can
send you a sample in Excel (say 100 contacts).

If you would like to get the list or need further information,
please get in touch by responding to this email.

P.S. Short FAQ: I do not ask for money in advance; You can pay
with your credit card (via trusted 3rd party), PayPal account
or make a bank transfer.

Kind regards,
Sarah White

Bug#408228: Is this bug still valid ?

2011-04-12 Thread Regis Boudin
Hi,

Now that the GTK frontend has been split out to cdebconf-gtk, cdebconf
itself doesn't have any direct or indirect dependency on x11-common,
which I believe means that this dependency cycle is gone. As a
consequence, isn't it safe to close this bug, now ?

Apologies if I got it wrong, please feel free to correct me.

As is, nobody can tell.

The logs in terminal 4, or the /var/log/syslog file (or files in
/var/log/installer on the instaleld system) will give you more
information.

Currently, setupcon always fails during early booting, because it
tries to create a temporary file in /tmp, which is still read-only.
The attached patch modifies it so it tries both /tmp and /lib/init/rw
as a temporary directory.

Re: preseed error when contacting security.debian.org

2011-04-12 Thread Kash
It seems that error was related to apt-cacher-ng, we are in the middle
of rolling out ipv6 and the machine apt-cacher-ng is running is was
trying to use ipv6 when contacting security.debian.org. Disabling ipv6
on that machine fixed this issue.
