Bug#520506: Bad title on "Choose a country, territory or area" screen
Package: debian-installer Version: lenny-5.0 After selecting lanugage, on another page there is a "Based on your language, you are probably located in one of these countries or regions" screen. Problem is that in the title there is still a confusing "Choose language" title. I suggest that the title should be changed to "Choose a country" string. I'm installing Debian Lenny 5.0 i386 netinst.iso -- Best regards Martin Sarfy -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#520506: Bad title on "Choose a country, territory or area" screen
reassign 520506 localechooser thanks Quoting Martin Sarfy (sa...@ics.muni.cz): > > Package: debian-installer > Version: lenny-5.0 > > After selecting lanugage, on another page there is a "Based on your language, > you are probably located in one of these countries or regions" screen. > > Problem is that in the title there is still a confusing "Choose language" > title. > > I suggest that the title should be changed to "Choose a country" string. That cannot be done as both actions are done within the same package (localechooser) and, this for very good reasons (things are closely related, of course). ...and the title you see is the menu entry choice, which is unique. A debconf screen title cannot be changed during the configuration of a package. Moreover, that very specific item needs to be very short because, when it is translated, we put both the localized name *and* the english version: Vybrat jazyk/Choose language for Czech, for instance and *that* is limited to about 65 characters. So, to fit what you ask, we should use something like "Choose language and country" which is fairly long and could lead to problems for translators to make everything fit in the allowed space. (moreover, that would still be inaccurate because the same package *also* allows choosing the locale) Fairly tricky, indeed and I don't think there is really a good solution to all this. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

I did not try to install over wireless. 1) At boot there were some kernel I/O errors about /dev/sr0. 2) During the HD setup I had some warning dialogs. One about HPFS, and one about a PREP partition. I answered 'No' to both and continued. 3) I got a warning 'No installable kernel was found in the defined APT sources'. I answered 'Yes' (no install) and continued. 4) I needed to manually select to not install a bootloader. No yaboot.conf was installed, so I needed to create one manually. -Geoff -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? In other cases, when the given person thinks that the patch doesn't need commenting (s)he just commits it..:-)... Some people (Frans, me, Otavio...) do reviews of commits (though I suspect this is quite loose (and therefore not systematic) these days, just like many things in d-i...that's life). So, your call: either you think your patches might need comment and you post them...or you're fairly sure of them and you just commit..:-) signature.asc Description: Digital signature
