Hydra NIC and AUI transceiver

2008-05-10 Thread Ingo Juergensmann
Hi!

I'm having problems with an AUI transceiver hooked up to the Hydra NIC v1.1
to one of my buildds (Elgar).

When using the cheapernet port of the Hydra, the network works for weeks
without any problem. But as I need to have another PC running for this setup
because of bridging the cheapernet to the Twisted-Pair part of my network, I
wanted to get rid off this dependency. So I picked up my AUI transceiver
(Lancast 4320) from my parents home and plugged it onto the Hydra NIC and
set the jumpers on the card from cheapernet to ethernet.

Everything worked fine - for about half an hour or so. The machine was then
unreachable from the network and the network was not reachable from the
machine.
After removing and re-attaching the AUI transceiver again, the network
worked again without a reboot - for 30-60 mins again.

Does anyone know whether this is a problem of the NIC or might be an issue
of the AUI transceiver? TIA!

Don't know really, but if it can help, I am using a CentreCOM 210TS
transceiver on my A2065 and it works like a charm for hours, no problems
at all.

Maybe (if you can) you should check the transceiver on another board.
