[Debconf-discuss] Your biggest achievement during past DebConfs (aka new DebConf promoting campaign)
Hi all, members of the Debconf Team and Publicity Team need your help!!1!! (nooo! don't hide!!) We'd like to have a quote from all Debian Developers and contributors naming their most important technical and/or social achievement reached during past DebConfs. The quote need to be short (one or two lines) and could be something like: "During DebConfN I wrote $cool-software which we now use to do $cool-things" Obviously, your best achievement could be also a patch, an important translation or a special BoF/talk/round-table. We want to use your responses to show the extreme variety of DebConf attendees and why this event is important for the FLOSS ecosystem. Your quotes will be used to promote DebConf via identi.ca, the website, and official DebConf documents. Thanks for your help! [Debconf-discuss] Special session of Lightning Talks, today at 20:00, second talk room
Hi all, After some interesting conversations with other contributors in the last days, Enrico and I decided that it would be good to have a space to share ideas and good practices in hobbies, jobs and life in general that could be useful in Debian. Are you a volunteer for other projects (not necessarily IT related) or just enthusiast about something (from chess to knitting, from maths to BDSM, from running to poetry)? What lessons have you learned there? What can be re-used to make Debian a better operating system and a better community? Come tonight at 20 to the second talk room and tell us! The format of the event will be similar to lightning talks, but somewhat more informal. Feel free to prepare something, even just some notes, but don't worry too much about making it perfect. See you tonight, Francesca and Enrico ps: because this is the first time we do it and we would like everyone to be comfortable in sharing stories about personal life, this session *will not be recorded*. -- "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint is more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey... stuff" The Doctor, Doctor Who (3x10, "Blink") signature.asc Description: Digital signature ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
Re: [Debconf-discuss] Special session of Lightning Talks, today at 20:00, second talk room
Hi again, thank you very much for everyone who showed up at the session and big thanks to all the speakers. The session was really a success, and it definitely has been (at least to us) food for thought. Cheers, Francesca and Enrico ps: I have been asked if it's possible to have an anonymized summary of the session. @ all speakers: is it ok for you? I haven't taken notes but I think I'll be able to remember the main points of each talk. -- "Nessuna conquista è per sempre. C'è sempre qualcuno che è interessato a toglierla. [Debconf-discuss] English subtitles for DebConf13 talks
Hi all, this year I'll try again to provide english subtitles for some of DebConf13 talks. I'll probably follow the workflow explained in this wiki page [1]. It's not difficult, even for a non native-speaker, but it's a bit time consuming: this is way I won't be able to do it for all the talks, but feel free to join me! You don't have to be at DebConf to do it, as some video recordings are already available online here [2]. And if you prefer, there's always the possibility to do it via a web based interface [3]. If you are going to do it, please claim here [4] the video you want to work on, so to avoid double work. Cheers, Francesca ps: any suggestion from the videoteam people on how to improve the workflow is really welcome! :) [1] https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/Subtitles_for_videos [2] http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2013/debconf13/ [3] http://www.amara.org/en/ [4] http://titanpad.com/AT1PzP4PHe -- i think the meta-thread should definitely include lengthy prose with meticulously constructed, yet fallacious, arguments. signature.asc Description: Digital signature ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
